BOHNS Best Burgers in Nottingham

We have been today and it was delicious. Just a warning though the truffle fries are enough for two people! They are very rich but extremely tasty. I had the peanut butter and chilli jam burger today and it was amazing.

Disappointing as the burger and fries were very tasty and excellent, but they were cold. I spent over £30 and felt a bit let down but I apologise that I was not brave enough to say anything at the time. Really lovely server which made it a good experience, the ice cream was incredible, and great music at a nice volume from Franz Ferdinand to The Eagles. However there was a long wait for my order to be taken, then for food (probably 30 mins) despite it being empty at lunchtime (5th April), then to be given the bill. The temperature was also quite cold inside the place. Dirty fries were 75% sauce and toppings which was too much for me, but you could share the sauce with friends if they get normal fries. The sauce/toppings were cold which was not very nice. The burger was warmer but was brought out first, then the server asked me if I wanted sauces (they give you a lot for free and a choice of any the kitchen produces which is great) and went to get them and the fries, which took another five minutes so the burger cooled down even more. Would be a good idea to ask about sauces at the same time as getting the order to avoid this. Brought out on individual cold plates - maybe heated plates would keep it warmer? Coleslaw was their own style, but it tasted weird/floral. I would rather have coleslaw that tastes like coleslaw but that is just my personal preference. You do get a lot which is great, would be good for sharing. Tea very nice but a bit expensive at £4.

Unfortunately, when we got there for my sons 12th birthday 3/3/24 There were no walk-ins as they had a private event on 😮‍💨 nothing on website about it so had travelled 40 mins for nothing as you cannot book for less than 5 people and we were a 4 😮‍💨 disappointed child but ate elsewhere. We will return at some point.

With so many places to eat out in Notts why would you go to somewhere you've already been to before? Because it's bloody delicious. We can't resist this little treasure. The food is beautiful, the service is fab and they cater for groups seamlessly. 8 of us all got served at the same time and it was amazing...just like it always is. Thanks Bohns. Keep doing what you're doing. We love everything that you are about.

I genuinely mean this when I say it, me and my girlfriend both said it's the best burgers we've ever had. And we've travelled all around Europe and Scandinavia... But the burgers here are absolute next level! Theres also a massive selection for all types of diets here too. Meat eaters, Veggies and Vegans! Also the alcohol served here is great and they have a great selection of spirits. The service was brilliant and the food came out in a very reasonable time. The price was great, the cleanliness was spot on. All in all this place is an absolute must try for burgers because hopefully, you'll have the best burger of your life like we have had here 👍

the burgers are nice. staff fine. BUT £4.95 for alcohol free beer?? There is no tax on AFB so this is just profiteering? Extra cost for any mayonnaise or ketchup for fries? I understand extra cost for specialist sauces but would expect a bottle of t.sauce and mayo as a given? What next charge to borrow cutlery? Sadly, we are moving on having been long-term fans. If you've not tried, still go, our favourite is Rump Rub. Would be be nice if there were house fries without spicy "dust" on them? Just fries?

This place is busy and that is completely a result of the excellent burgers. Not the cheapest as fries and sides are extra but worth the money

Well it's nice that the humble burger is getting the attention it deserves although there is nothing humble about the burgers at Bohns. Raspberry and jalapeno jam should not even be a thing but it is and bloody hell it's good. I had the rump rub, my good lady the blue. Both were absolutely gorgeous. Moist, fresh tasting and not a god awful brioche bun in sight. If the dirty fries were any dirtier they'd be on pornhub. The halloumi fries were the best I've ever eaten. It's up there with the best burgers I've ever had and the portions are great for the price. I will come back despite it being 100miles from home

Great service and amazing burgers (just a bit greasy, but I think that might be what makes them delicious!). Good range of vegetarian and vegan options. Downstairs venue, I didn't spot a lift, so might not be accessible to all. No bookings, just turn up and wait.

Asked for a table at 8,30 on Friday evening and told kitchen closed. Town busy with drinkers and other people still eating . Really poor.

Been lots of times. My family and I like to rate burgers wherever we go and Bohns tops our list of the best burger we’ve ever had. The bacon cheese fries are also to die for! We also love independent places that do things really well and Bohns does not disappoint. So lucky to have them in our home town!!

I have had many burgers but BOHNS is THE BEST. Real juicy beef burgers, plenty of nice fillings,crispy tasty chips. The service is outstanding .Staff are so friendly and accommodating. This place does exactly what it says on the tin. BOHNS Best Burgers, simply are, the best. Been here a few times and it never misses, perfect food, service and atmosphere. The steak mate burger is simple, but so effective, the soft bun, tender meat, pickles, just everything. It's the perfect burger. The dirty fries are gorgeous, perfect amount of spice, meat, everything. The truffle loaded fries are phenomenal. Again, perfect. The perfect ratio of crisp fries, truffle mayo and parmesan. Every chip you eat has the perfect ratio of chip to topping. Not like other loaded fries that you'd get elsewhere where you'd end up with a load of uncovered fries at the bottom of the bowl. Hats off to the chefs on everything. Very talented. I would like to just note however, as a bit of advice, and maybe this was a one off. On the last visit I tried the BFC for the first time. I'll be honest I was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it tasted brilliant, but was just lacking very slightly. The chicken coating wasn't very crisp, slightly too oily and borderline soggy. I think there may have actually been too much chicken in it which ended up just sliding around. The slaw in it was delicious, but not enough of it, and there could have been slightly more mayo in it. The ratios were just a bit off, which is surprising, and again I assume this is a one off. I would definitely try again. Also, please bring back the sauce menu!!!! The paper menu's are very good, but you definitely need the sauce menu back. As well as the other special burger which I never managed to try before it was taken off the menu, it used to be at the bottom on the specials list and was always out of stock. Again though, hats off, simply the best.

Fantastic burgers! Huge flavours, and great quality and quantity! Staff were friendly and cool, and the place had a great atmosphere. They really need more signage and advertising cos this place is great!

Probably THE best burger I’ve ever had. Wow. The kids absolutely loved it aswell and keep asking to go back. Would highly recommend if you love your burgers.

Got there slightly late and told we would have a 30 minute wait. Fair enough, I accepted that, but an hour later we were still waiting at the bar, with the staff encouraging us to simply order another round of £10 cocktails. Not overly impressed. Finally got to our table, ordered our food - and then waited another hour to get our meal. So celebrating my daughter's 21st and I was pretty hacked off by the time it came to eating, 2 hours after we arrived. I would have been happier if the manager had at least mentioned the delay and offered sympathy, but nothing was said. I would have awarded fewer stars but for the fact that the burgers are very good!

I ate in here a few weeks ago now, I had a burger and the parmesan fries and both dishes were excellent and arrived in good time. The fries were especially good! The service was also very friendly. Will come again

Service was great but I share the same sentiment with others - it feels overpriced. It does cost about £17-20 for a burger and a small plates of fries (without drinks).

Best burgers in Nottingham, staff make you feel very welcome and it's very busy which creates a great atmosphere but even if full it's great, to have a drink at the bar whilst yo u wait.

Attended as part of a team night out. there was 17 of us, we had pre-booked and the table was ready for our arrival. We had drink order taken promptly followed by the food orders. We did have to wait a while for the food, but slightly understandable with the size of the order.

Not very good. 4 out of 5 burgers and chips turn up, 5th (the most basic) turns up 10 minutes later when chips are cold. Yes, it was busy but surely be prepared to serve a table of 5 all at once. I'd heard great things, disappointed.

I would recommend to anyone in Nottingham, also is in Lacemarket so a nice area where you can get drinks beforehand if you want. First time here and will definitely come back. We each had the Rump Rub (delicious!) and shared the Dirty Fries (awesome!) and homemade cole slaw (didn’t like this much). Service was excellent.

Useless place. Tried to book a table for 2 online but it will only allow a minimum of 5 to book and the website clearly states any smaller groups can walk in. You would think this would mean they have ample seating, but unfortunately this isn't the case. Upon arrival we were told there would be a 30 minute wait. Needless to say we went somewhere else. They need to update the booking form to accommodate smaller groups, or add more seating. Waste of everyone's time.

Group of 7 lads with no reservations and the team happily accommodated us. The food, the drinks the service was all amazing. I can certainly recommend the Torero burger which was outstanding. Cannot wait to come back!

Tried to book online for two people and found it was only possible to book for five and above. Website says “anything less than 5 just walk in” - walked in as directed to be met by snobby, rude staff who said it would be at least a thirty minute wait. A question for the owners: why tell people there’s no need to book if you can’t seat people for thirty minutes? Clearly they think the food is so good that there’s no need to look after anyone. It’s not a Michelin star restaurant, no need for that attitude. Edited to include a response to Bohn's management: Thank you for proving me absolutely correct on my observation of snobby, rude staff. You are attacking a customer for making a perfectly valid point - your website tells you to walk in if you would like a table, but you are unable to do so. You are clearly not able to seat more people using this method, as you were not able to seat us, plus the other customers we saw walking out at the same time for the same reason. The argument about Covid is also completely irrelevant considering this was over three years ago. The most astounding thing however, is trying to 'win an argument' with a customer in a public forum, particularly by exaggerating the interaction with your FOH (we did not use any profanities whatsoever) insulting and belittling your patrons and hoping people reading the review will 'side with you' (?!) which has got to be the most unprofessional display of decorum I have ever seen in the hospitality industry.

Came here after being sarcastically rejected by Hippo. Bohns, were also fully booked out, but offered us drinks to wait to see if they could shuffle us in to a table. They could! Food was amazing! Staff, friendly. Great atmosphere and super food.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about to be frank. I've been to burger joints on 4 continents and this one didn't blow my skirt up, so to speak. It's a trendy basement restaurant, popular with students and millennials. The burgers are all smash burgers and dripping in sauces sonyou don't get to taste the beef. More importantly, they are nowhere near big enough to satisfy a hungry appetite. See the pics. Be warned, fries and sauces cost extra too. So you pay around £20 for a medium-sized burger with fries. No drink. The service was great, though. Edit: After seeing Bohns response, I'll say this: I raised the issue of portion sizes TWICE with FOH. Once before ordering, when I was asked if I was allergic to anything to which I replied, "small portion sizes!" and she smiled. The second was at the end of the meal when asked, "Was everything ok with your meal apart from the size?" To which my colleague repliedon my dejected behalf l: "Do you have a dessert menu for my friend?" Here's a mad idea, instead of posting a defensive response why not take it as an opportunity to add a NEW menu item called something suitably silly like "Big Mouth" and have, I dunno maybe THREE patties? Now THAT would satisfy and extend your somewhat limited burger menu. #jussayin

Perfect no nonsense burgers and great staff. Visited Bohns while having a few drinks in the popular Hockley area of Nottingham. Burgers are really tasty, quite simple which is what we liked, the burgers didn’t arrive as a huge stack of food that you have to deconstruct prior to eating. We had two burgers, a portion of rosemary salted fries and a portion of loaded fries, to be honest we probably didn’t need two portions of fries, one would have been plenty. Definitely recommend the rosemary salted fries which taste like a cross between Sunday roast potatoes and burger fries. Would definitely visit again.

For my money it’s the best burger place in Nottingham. In a world of huge burgers these ones are simple, delicious and always hit the spot. I’ve liked pretty much everything they do and the cocktail menu is a bonus. Don’t sleep on the halloumi fries.

We went to Bohns for the first time yesterday and unfortunately it won’t be somewhere we are returning to. We appreciate it that Friday’s are busy nights, but the customer service we received was really poor. When we first got to the restaurant we were told we could go sit at a table so we did. It was very noisy which I was struggling with but we decided to stay as we had been struggling to decide where to eat. We already knew what we wanted to eat as we had checked the menu outside so sat waiting for our order to be taken. It took 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Within that time other people paid and left and we saw multiple staff members cleaning and setting empty tables rather than come and take our order. Looking back we should have left but after waiting so long already that would feel like a waste. We finally had our order taken. We ordered 2 vegan burgers, 2 fries, a sauce, and some drinks. My husband ordered the cream soda as on the menu it was by his favourite brand of soft drinks. He was then told the cream soda was sold out but they had a cherry soda he could try, he agreed thinking the cherry soda was the one mentioned in the menu by that same brand. When it got delivered to our table it turned out it was not the one mentioned in the menu, and it also was not a cherry soda it was cherry flavoured sparkly water. Again, having opened and tried the drink he did not feel he could send it back. Our burgers finally arrived and I will admit they looked nice! I waited for our fries as I always eat my fries before my burger but eventually started to eat my burger as the fries didn’t show up. It was a nice burger but nothing special/ not worth the experience we had here. We both finished eating our burger and our fries still didn’t show up. We kept seeing other tables receive fries, some other tables received ‘check backs’. Nobody came over to us. If they had; we could have mentioned that our fries had been forgotten!! After 15 minutes waiting, we decided we had had enough and that we would go get some fries to eat somewhere else as we were left feeling hungry. Thankfully we were not made to pay for the fries that never arrived, or the sauce I ordered for those aforementioned fries. I guess it just shows that you can have nice tasting burgers but if your customer service is rubbish the food is irrelevant.

No question..... Best burger I've had. Hands down. A great selection on the menu.... amazing flavours. Just absolutely knockout. A lovely setup downstairs, chilled vibes and lovely staff. Stop reading the reviews and get yourself down there ;-)
