Bodega in Leicester

Unfortunately, it disappointed me even though I was really looking forward to it. I would like the nachos to be crispier and with more toppings. The appetizers we chose, the mushroom and cauliflower tacos, were excellent. The dish I chose was the halloumi burger, which was basically a tortilla wrapped around a whole (!!) halloumi with fried crust. I would have preferred if it had half the amount of cheese. It is not possible to serve a whole brick of halloumi in one portion of food, especially like this. It goes without saying that it weighed heavily on my stomach and it took until evening for me to digest.

Really delicious food and a great atmosphere

Fast service, decent prices. Great for groups. Good range of vegetarian & vegan options. Food sometimes a little bland. Accessibility - you might need help with the outer door. Wheelchair users might struggle with inside - the tables are very close together.

I had a great time at Leicester Bodega. We were looked after by Betty who was an absolute star. Our cocktails were so good and the food as always absolutely delicious. Highly recommended this place and if Betty is on you’ll be getting the best service.

Comically bad food. I went here with my girlfriend for a snack on a day out, and for £16 we received two *very* small tacos, one horchata and one small bowl of rice. The tacos were strangely wet, but the chicken itself was dry. Despite being advertised as molé tacos, they didn't taste of anything - certainly not the rich, sweet, smoky flavor molé is supposed to have. The rice, which did have a flavor, tasted like Uncle Ben's microwaveable rice packets. The horchata was actually quite nice, but it was more like an oat milkshake than anything else. I do not think the people who designed these recipes have eaten genuine Mexican food, and I hope they get the chance to one day, because it is a beautiful cuisine that deserves to be represented well. To be fair to the staff, I called afterwards to complain about the food, and the man I spoke to was very apologetic and assured me that they would have re-made the dishes if I had said something in the restaurant. It's on me that we didn't, and I'm giving a bit more stars for that. The atmosphere was kitschy and silly and I didn't really mind it. If you want good Mexican food, though, I'd suggest finding somewhere else.

I found a new favorite place. The first time I went for their happy hour of 2 cocktails for 10 pounds, I ordered house nachos which were a perfect snack with the drinks, I also ordered the Puerto Rican fried chicken and it was delicious and brought back all my memories of family gatherings in Puerto Rico. Next time I went , we were served by such a lovely waitress that was helpful and friendly. We ordered the brisket and chicken quesadilla which were perfect and is making my mouth water just remembering it. We also got a Brazilian dish of sea food and rice that we didn’t appreciate too much. I will be coming back often, especially for their signature margarita Another edit, the waiter today victor was amazing, very enthusiastic and friendly as well as helpful. I will definitely advise coming for their signature margarita

Went here for my birthday last month after visiting one lunchtime a couple of years ago. The host was welcoming, but clearly too busy for one person. The food was pretty lacklustre. The selection of tacos were the highlight, but needed some salsa or even lime juice to liven then up. My wife had a halloumi wrap, but it looked more like mozzarella and was lacking any kind of spice. The slaw was just shredded red cabbage with little or no dressing or taste. Although there were quite a few people in there, there was no atmosphere, no music etc. Very disappointing and I won't be rushing back there.

We ordered a selection of sharing dishes which gave a great and unique taste of Mexican cuisine. The portions were slightly small however so I think mains/large plates may have been a better choice. In general, there is plenty to choose from on the food and drinks menu and the decor is quite pleasant to sit in.

I have been going to Bodega for a while now, however my visit yesterday was probably the best in terms of service. Love Bodega for its amazing vibe , great food , music and the service has been mostly good. However , Marshall who served us yesterday was just so warm and attentive, his service was phenomenal! He was not just professional but also came across as genuinely caring and welcoming and showed enthusiasm and kindness with such sincerity. Keep up the fab work Marshall! Will definitely continue to visit

Marshall was an excellent server. Food was excellent. Food took 50 minutes to come but it was a Saturday night but it was 100% worth the wait.

Was looking forward to this place to eat I ent to eat during my lunch break however opening times 12pm waited no one even bothered. Would have liked to try there food but I guess they don't care about their customers and there opening time

Shall I compare thee to a springtime day? My spirit laid sodden and bruised following an abject at best performance from Leicester Fosse. My spirits, mood and evening was rejuvenated by the fantastic burrito and nachos I was subjugated too, in addition to the wonderful service skills of the incredible James, which rendered this a positively spun dining experience. I shall persist my endeavours to eat every main on this menu, and look forward to doing so with James as my co-pilot. Leicester till I die

Waited 35mins for my main, server indignant when I asked why it took so long. in the end, foods wasn't worth the wait, poor interpretation of argentinian/south American food.

Josh was fantastic!! What a lovely venue and the food was incredible!! The Dr pepper pork tacos were to die for, wish we ordered more of those. The chicken one was okay but not the best. Atmosphere was lovely, server was great, drinks were great and had a fantastic evening for a really good price.

One of my favourite food places in Leicester. It is has amazing prices and the food taste amazing. The staff are honestly so great, specially our waitress paola who was very sweet and polite and really helped with the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend the lunch menu as it’s a great price and also fills you.

Service was not great, waiting 30mins for someone to take our order, restaurant didn’t even seem that busy at the time, staff seem to care more about dancing with each other than looking after the customers.

If you want to go to a place where you can’t hear your friends/family because the music is so loud, you like bad food, and eating off tiny plates, then go here. Our food took 40 mins to arrive. I tried so hard to like it. We cancelled having our dessert here because it would’ve taken another working day to arrive

Tasty food at South American/ Mexican restaurant, bit like Las Iguanas chain. Offers good gluten free options. Not too expensive and also good service. Atmosphere a bit quiet during a Friday lunchtime, but plenty of seating then.

What happened!? Used to be so good. We’ve been visiting Bodega since its first branch opened in Birmingham many years ago. We booked into the Leicester one on New Year’s Eve for lunch. The staff wewe kind and helpful (although we did have to ask for water on multiple occasions and little things like not providing clean cutlery for deserts without prompting etc.) but the food has changed massively and not for the better. The food used to be generous servings of tasty food. What we got served was bland and cold food and we had to season and douse our dishes in sauce to make it taste of anything despite ordering both our dishes as hot (spicy). My chicken enchiladas were dry and tasteless and the “spicy” rice that accompanied it was cold dry plastic pellets. My husband’s burrito looked nothing like what you would have expected it was essentially a really basic looking wrap with rationed fillings for the price you would have thought it would come with a side but those had to be ordered separately. We ordered patas bravas essentially soggy potatoes in a bland tomato sauce. They had a kids menu which was appreciated and this was probably the best meal of the bunch, hot chicken was proper tasty chicken and the churros were lovely. The other thing that really ruined the atmosphere was how run down the place looked, peeling paint, ripped and tatty soft furnishings, chairs, tables etc all looked like they were falling apart. Just felt dirty and uncared for if the front of house looks so shabby what state is the kitchen in?! Sad to say won’t be going back. Will try the birmingham one again but other than that we won’t be revisiting or recommending to friends or family.

Fast service and lovely food! Would definitely recommend the Dr Pepper marinated pork burrito or any of the vegan options. Wasn’t sure what to order but staff were very helpful. Portions were huge and atmosphere in the restaurant was cosy. Definitely a favourite when I’m in town.

Went once, soon as we walked in it was apparent they wanted to go home early and preferred not to cater to us... server went and asked manager if they would still serve food and they said they would at this point I looked at the open kitchen and the chef was literally waving us away as if they wanted to go home early and were joking between themselves that we go away, they seen me catch them in there little joke and clearly felt awkward about it, if that's not extremely unprofessional then I don't know what it is. We still sat down to eat and food was decent. Attended today at 8pm as the time on Google said 10:30 and was told they have stopped doing food for the night which was an inconvenience. Will not travel to eat here again as maybe told they are closing early. Overall extremely bad practice for a business who clearly do not care about customers. Food is decent, shame about the attitude.

Looked this place up on Google and was excited to try it after a recommendation. Despite opening hours of 10pm on Tuesday, I arrived for dinner at 8pm and was told they were closing the kitchen so wouldn’t be able to serve us (other diners were seated and being served). Won’t be coming back any time soon given they don’t answer their phone and make up their own opening hours to suit them.

We hired the room upstairs for our Xmas meal and this place didn't disappoint. We had the buffet menu and it was lovkey. So much variety to choose from, xmas hats were on the table and xmas songs in the background really made it special. A big thank you for josh for providing a great service

I had the bottomless brunch/lunch with 2 friends on Saturday. The Paloma’s went down an absolute treat and the mini tacos were nice with a good range of options available; I had the white fish, halloumi and chipotle beef. We also came here for my friend who is gluten-free, which you cater well for. Service by Marshall was wonderful - he was so attentive, friendly and speedy!

Small portions, tasteless, cold food that then gets nuked in the microwave. Avoid

Food was disappointing. Small portions, little meat, mostly tortillas. The salad isn't really a salad, just a small fajita-like vegetable mix atop a large fried tortilla bowl. No real healthy options possible. Service was good.

Service and atmosphere were fine. Server declined bringing out tacos as a starter as didn’t want the kitchen to delay, she seemed to think we’d be waiting a while. However 5 minutes after ordering everything came out?! Nicely decorated restaurant. Noisy but atmospheric. Sat us by the toilet and kitchen which was very cold. Food was very disappointing. Prices are good but makes sense because of the tiny portion sizes (we had tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas for reference). No flavour, barely any meat, rice was worse than microwave rice you get from the supermarket, not authentic South American experience (we spent 6 months travelling South America) we had caipirinhas and the tasted like a water lime drink, was weak and not sugary (like they are meant to be) Service (which was over 10%) automatically added to the bill so you have to awkwardly ask for it to be taken off because everything was sub par. Disappointed- was a birthday meal that was less than great.

Had the best birthday lunch here last month with the private room upstairs. Beautifully decorated room. The food was incredible and we were FULL! (went for the banquet menu). The service was awesome and Josh was friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. Thank-you so so much :)

This place is a hidden gem. We were greeted and served by Lianne who was really lovely. Very polite, helpful warm and friendly. The menu is amazing and has lots of gluten free options including gluten free beer. When the food arrived it did not disappoint. Really fresh, very authentic, great flavors. It's a good place, the food is nice, prices alittle on the high end (the beef is worth it tho) but like many places in the UK now the 10% service charge is here, this American tip culture is not the way forward, just pay your staff properly.

Order the nachos, they are crispy and next level competed to the small triangles you get in packets. Excellent across the board

Fantastic lunch, we were lucky to get a table despite not having a reservation as it was really busy. Great atmosphere and the menu was huge, so much choice. We had the happy hour cocktails and our amazing waitress, Lianne, recommended the spicy margarita which did not disappoint! Lianne kept us in supply of food and drinks throughout our visit, she is so friendly and she is a really credit to this restaurant. Will return!
