Bod Erw Hotel Restaurant in Denbighshire

Was treated to afternoon tea . We were offered drinks as we were seated at our pre booked table . They asked if we wanted coffee or tea to accompany our afternoon tea . Food was tasty . Didn’t have to wait too long for it to be served . No offer of further drinks to accompany the food once it arrived . Disappointed to find we were charged extra for the tea and coffee once the bill was presented . Disappointing ? Afternoon tea without tea included ? That’s pretty unusual !

We love coming to the Bod Eru. The food and staff are excellent. My wife and Mother in law love the meal we had. Both today had pork and there was plenty on the plate. I would definitely recommend the cauliflower cheese side order (it's yummy). Today I had lasagna and it was so yummy. Please go try it for yourself you won't regret it.

Today I was treated to an absolutely delicious Afternoon Tea at Bod Erw as part of my Mother's Day treat from my son and partner. Well, I cannot fault it! The restaurant itself is beautiful and spotlessly clean! All of the staff were so warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough. But, to top it all was the food..... DELICIOUS!! It was more than your average Afternoon Tea. All freshly homemade,from scratch, by the very talented Chef, Peter. The scotch eggs, best I've ever tasted, sausage rolls and quiche, yummy, selection of generously filled sandwiches, along with homemade relish, all delicious! Along with that was a selection of scrummy cakes, brownies, shortbread and macaroons, ALL freshly made by the Chef. Of course, no Afternoon Tea is complete without scones, cream and jam, they were perfect and soooo light! There was no scrimp on the amount of food on offer and definitely no scrimp on the quality of ingredients used, (again the scotch eggs are delicious). The wonderful staff offered a takeaway box to take home what was left, which I have just enjoyed at home for my supper! We travelled an hour from Liverpool to visit Bod Erw, well, well worth it. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!!

Just celebrated our Mum's 93rd birthday here as it's one of her favourite places. Absolutely fabulous meal, quality was excellent and portion sizes very generous, they will do smaller portions if required. The staff were all very friendly and super efficient. Superb venue and value for money.

We had an evening meal there and it was superb ! We were a table of 9 inc 1 child . Three of us had the Scotch Egg as a starter and that was just amazingly delicious and compliments to the Chef as the egg yolk was soft and that was quite an art to achieve this ! The starters , main meals and desserts were spot on and you could tell that the produce was of excellent quality. The ambience was lovely , the staff were friendly and super efficient ( and we must mention Abbie !) and the Chef and the kitchen team did a grand job . It was the best meal that we've had in a long time . Bod Erw will be top of the list from now on . Thank you . Diolch yn fawr iawn .

My partner and I came here for dinner on Saturday evening. The staff were very attentive and polite, nothing was too much for them. We had a three course meal, I started with the King Prawns and Chorizo, main - Salt and Pepper Chicken Burger and dessert - chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. The food was delicious, it was very flavourful and cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend Bod Erw in the future and will come back next time we are in the area.

Glad we chose this restaurant after travelling in the nearby area. Great waiting staff and brilliant food, hats off to the chef. The scotch egg was my favourite, the tomato and chilli chutney took it to a new level. Will definitely be back for more

Some good points! Firstly the food was not explained very well, ie I was told of the specials which I ordered but wasn’t told what it came with ie , chips, potatoes etc. this caused some confusion when the food arrived. There was very little gluten free choices. Two out of the 8 meals came out 10 minutes after the other meals. The gravy on three of the meals was excessively salty which was pointed out and we were told we should have told the server when she asked was everything ok. At this point two of the meals hadn’t even arrived. We have never had these issues before here so I would like to think it’s a one off!

Had a wonderful night last night to celebrate St Valentine’s Day… we were shown to our table straight away and asked if we would like a glass of bubbly which we did! I’m gluten free and could eat just about everything on the menu ! I had the scallops which were fabulous and the sea bass which again was really good and plenty of it followed by the Crème brûlée! The waitress who served us was really lovely and attentive too! Lovely atmosphere! Well done to Bod Erw this is our second time here on valentines night we will make it a third next year!❤️

Our car club had its annual "Not the Christmas Lunch" here on Sunday 21st January with a Hawaiian shirt theme. There were 26 of us and we were given a private room without asking. The food was excellent in terms of quality and quantity. The service was exemplary, the restaurant was generally busy but our pre-ordered meal was served incredibly well coordinated and quickly. The staff were excellent, in particular Paula, who oversaw our service and Abbie who made the arrangements. For any organisation, club or family looking for a venue to hold a meal we cannot recommend Bod Erw highly enough.

Don't know where to start. It was ansome! The Mrs and I had come up from Cornwall to stay with my uncle and his Mrs, they booked us in on my 38th birthday, table of 4 for 7pm under the name smith. We had, two chicken dishes, one chicken burger and I had the rump steak, we also had afters, two possets and two cheesecakes, it was all ansome, Thank you so much, and if we come back up, will definitely pop in again. Popped in for lunch today family of 3. I can honestly say I thought it was exceptional. The waitresses were jolly and chatty throughout. The food I would have to give a 10 out of 10 for everyone. There was nothing that I could fault and I am a very picky person. I chose something light which was a soup and there was nothing boring about the soup. It was absolutely delicious, even down to the accompanying chargrilled garlic bread slices. My mother chose fish and chips which was huge. It was far too much for her and would’ve suited us both to share one plate for lunch. It was that plentiful, batter was perfect, peas were delicious and minted, tartare sauce was just as I like it with whole chopped capers. everything was fresh, very well cooked and presented. My daughter had a burger and whilst there are many places around here who are known to be the burger capital ( hickories) this burger was divine. Even the little pot of coleslaw was fresh, home-made and very tasty. Nice little gherkin touch on top too. I like that cold water is bought immediately to the table. Many places don’t do this unless requested and I often wonder why that is. Lovely ambience all round, nice interior. Prices are slightly higher than your regular pub meal, but then this isn’t pretending to be a pub. It’s a happy medium I would say and the prices are reflected in the quality of the food you get what you pay for. Will start coming here regularly in the hope that consistency remains.

Very disappointed that we were not told when booking that only the set Christmas lunch was available as we had been looking forward to the great varied menu advertised! Thought £21 was a bit pricey for an average 1 course turkey dinner.

Well, I really cannot fault this place, from the friendly bar staff, and waitresses, to the fantastically accommodating kitchen crew, the food was faultless and the atmosphere friendly- to the point I felt like a regular, a personal thank you to all, and I will undoubtedly be returning! Last minute booking, for Sunday roast. We have been once before, and it did not disappoint this time. Excellent choice of starters, we, all three of us, ordered prawn cocktail, absolutely delicious, not too big to put you off the main course. Excellent roast dinners, two pork and one turkey, with all the trimmings. Extras we had were Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese, both excellent. We were offered extra gravy, which was gratefully accepted. The staff were very attentive but not intrusive. It was very busy, so obviously very popular, we will definitely be back.

Been meaning to come here on my many trips passing through. So pleased I dedicated some time .. and made it happen. Drinks: 2x Sauvignon Blanc Starter: Chicken Liver Pate I have always enjoyed this starter as it creates a lining in the mouth that stays from start to finish.. and until the main course arrives. The farmhouse version in Le Thor is to die for - but a family recipe. Main: Chicken Caesar - could not fault it at all. Superb. Dessert: Ice cream - what can you say, it goes down a treat with any age. Service: Very prompt, professional and a warm smile.

Excellent service, from friendly, knowledgeable staff. Food was great, and they know how to cook a steak. The braised beef special of the day was outstanding. Nice wine, at a reasonable price. Nice decor, comfortable seating in a very nice atmosphere. When we arrived, the waiting staff set expectations that we would have a 10 minute wait before we could order. They were true to the word and everything ran very smoothly. Good to have this honesty. Thoroughly recommend for relaxed, quality dining

We had Sunday lunch today , the food was excellent unfortunately the service not so good . We arrived 5 minutes early and was asked to wait outside , it wasn’t raining but was very windy so declined and waited at the bar . When we sat at out table we waited 20 minutes before being served , this was strange as other tables seemed to be having much faster service. The food came shortly after ordering , but after finishing we weren’t asked if we wanted a desert . After a further wait we went to the bar and paid . The Instant we left the table it was cleared . Shame as 5 stars would have definitely been given if we hadn’t had such long waits . Disappointing to not get desert as they looked very good

We dined at Bod Erw last night, we had not booked beforehand but we were welcomed by a very efficient young waiter who placed us in a lovely window table. The menu is varied so plenty of choice and a good selection of children’s meals too. My husband ordered the rump steak and I had the fish and chips, both meals were delicious, piping hot and plenty of it. All the staff were extremely efficient and provided a first class service. Compliments to the chefs.

My lovely bridesmaid booked here for Sunday lunch. It was a lovely way to end my hen weekend. The service was warm and welcoming and nothing too much bother. The food was amazing, the pate was some of the best I've ever had. Sadly, I was a bit too broken after a weekend full of fun and laughter, to eat all of my roast but what I did eat was delicious. They kindly boxed it up for me and I had it when I got home. It was amazing. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd be sure to book here.

We would like to thank all the staff in the Bod Erw for their service to 40th wedding anniversary meal. 19 people including two children were served impeccably with excellent food. Nothing was an issue if we needed anything it was supplied extra vegetables (not that I could eat any more) but it wasn’t an issue. As I have said there we’re 19 people and we were all happy with all the meals.

Well what can I say.. from the moment we walked through the door we were welcomed by a friendly receptionist, were shown to our table and drink orders taken straight away, food was delicious and dessert was just as tasty, staff were very quick with the service, compliments to the chef!

Phoned ahead as we were in the area to check availability for a table for 2 for Sunday lunch. Lovely telephone manner from staff taking my call. Arrived to a warm welcome. Restraunt was busy with a great vibe. Service from all staff was very high, team work was very evident here...dress code for staff looked really smart. The food was absolutely beautiful and its presentation was excellent. Thanks to the team here for a really lovely meal. Highly recommended.
