Bob and Berts in Coleraine

This is a really nice little restaurant right on The Promenade. The food was very good and served quickly (but it's not fast food). The service was good, the prices very fair.

went in for a nice lunch with my boyfriend, horrible service, horrible food. never in my life have i went into a restaurant and been so undermined. never again

So DISGUSTED IN HOW THIS PLACE TREATS OTHERS Stopped in for a coffee and while there a little old man who ( seemed to be homeless) had came and had sat down , doing no harm and fixing what looked like his shoe when a male staff member had approached him and said ‘have some dignity for yourself ‘ which I thought was disgusting as that is definitely not something you should say to any human being , any other member of staff that came in contact with him was more than lovely ( as they should be ) Once the man was spoken to like that he left I then followed him just to see if he was okay for him to tell me that he has been in 4/5 other times and has been treated in horrible ways such as (being told he smells) I was telling my friend and he has said the same man was in one day he was there as well he had even offered to buy him food when a staff member had them told him no that he was not allowed , For such a big company that does all this sponsorships and charity work you would think they would treat not only the older generation but the less fortunate a bit better,

Standard Bob and Bert’s place, it promises so much but delivers so much mediocrity. On the board the menu looks fresh and interesting, but the reality is it’s pretty low quality when it arrives. Ordered a panini and asked if I wanted salad with it? I said yes and received a huge bowl of coleslaw and pesto pasta. A very bizarre salad indeed. The service is ok, but so many better places in Portstewart.

How this place is not shot down? It has exellence location and is spacious and thats it. People work hard to go to caffee but this,, resraurant,, dont respect that. It is simlpy dirty place, tables are not stable , famill close to us spill there coffee by barly touch the table, chairs are looing like it was a barn not restaurant. Food is so expensive in relation to quality and dining experince. It is to noisy, and staff dont know even the products. My green tea costs £3.5 and it was terrible , and pot was dirty

Wrong order arrived, overcharged for food, recieved chips not ordered which arrived freezing cold. Staff were arrogant when when asked to correct the order. Drinks did not arrive that were ordered.

This was always a great place to grab a breakfast or lunch in but it’s downhill. Bits of our meals were missing like bacon on one and sausage in the other. The portions have gotten smaller and seemed of poorer quality than usual. My coffee order was wrong too. The toilets were so awful I decided not to use it, but later my little girl really had to go and I found myself gagging at the state of the toilet, even though a staff member with cleaner had just come out of it?!?!! Will not be returning here again. Not a pleasant experience.

Since we were with our dog, which is no longer welcome, we had a takeaway from here. My daughter always gets a hotdog but today we discovered that this no longer comes with chips. £8.45 for a roll and 1 sausage, with no side, is ridiculous! The chips that came with the other dishes were full of black eyes and were of poor quality. The portion sizes are so much smaller as well! I wouldn’t recommend this cafe anymore.

Prices were expensive before but they keep going up. A salad at £9.75 used to come with garlic bread on the side, now it’s an extra £2.50. Kids hotdog meal came with only half a hotdog. Cafe food with restaurant prices’

We visit Bob and Berts Portstewart fairly often and have always had perfectly acceptable meals/snacks. However on this occasion it was definitely underwhelming Two burgers fine (one pulled pork, the other chicken goujon) but nothing special. We were asked if we wanted to "super size" (or whatever they called it ) our chips. My husband said yes I said no. When our food was served he had a very small portion of sweet potato fries (not what he ordered) and I had a larger portion of chips. However, neither portion was sufficient to fill the plate and without even a little bit of salad to dress the plate, it looked sparse and unappealing. My chips were also poor quality with lots of black bits .The tea and coffee were fine . As this is North West 200 motorbike races with lots of visitors I wonder if they were cutting corners - just a thought .

Why does a restaurant think it is acceptable to eat and drink off dirty tables. Short of a bit of staff training or it my just be policy, my first and last visit.

was in on Monday with family and there were 4 dogs in the eating area I am allergic to dog dander and my daughter is terrified of dogs food was good and sevice was grand ,but the dogs are winning in this place I was raised as dogs don't be where your eating or cooking. Called in for coffee and ice creams. No one servicing the icecream counter so queues at coffee counter for both. Whilst we queued a man came to the icecream counter and a female staff member clearly knowing him well came over to him to chat.. I was watching because I was unsure if we should be queuing at that counter. Whilst they chatted the man put his hand into the bowl of icecream spoons for customer’s use, he ran put his hand into the bowl and played with them. This continued whilst they chatted him absentmindedly running his hand through the soon dish.. staff member said nothing… I kept thinking why doesn’t she move the dish away?.. …When we did get served….. we ordered cones… very poor hygiene for customers expected to need a spoon. It was a shame coffee was nice..setting was nice.

Stood waiting to order and saw in the corner if my eye, on if the girls was scratching her nose (with glove on). I watched on hoping she would change the glove but she had a few more scratches and fiddled with her nose piercing then turned around and started making up a panini. Didn't washher hands or change the glove. I completely understand how annoying an itchy on is, but please change the glove!

Returned to Bob & Bert’s a year since my last visit, unfortunately there has not been much improvement . Tables outside are very slow to be cleared & staff inside appear to be more interested in their own chit chat than attending to their customers....

Had a lovely visit to this establishment whilst visiting Portstewart. Service was efficient and faultless and staff were very pleasent. Only went in for coffee as we had ate earlier but the food looked amazing. Perhaps next me we will eat.

First visit to the new premises, much better and less cramped than previous. Staff were polite and friendly, food was served piping hot and tasty. Much more reasonable on the wallet than Morellis and staff actually interact rather than treat you as an inconvenience.

Eat here on a regular basis, always good value for money, breakfasts are great, highly recommend a spud stack. love the chickpea salad, goujon burger is also good! Very busy place, can be hard to get a table. Toilets can be sometimes be neglected.

Saturday morning breakfast with a good view. We went as we had never tried a breakast in Bob and Berts. The three meal choices were all much cheaper than other places and were promptly served and quite tasty. On the down side why serve a flat white in a glass with no handle? The table and cutlery were not the cleanest. Overall a very pleasnat experience.

My wife was in Kirkcaldy branch today , she has coeliac ( gluten intolerance ) ordered her lunch and guess what , meal arrived and loaded with gluten . She has called doctor and hospital and is now out in a severe Rash . Please avoid , we will be calling head office tomorrow. Full menu times need to be advertised as hot food only available for part of the day. Also the quality of ingredients used has definitely dropped as well as the portion size but not the prices. A few of the staff have an attitude problem.

Used to love bob and berts but last 2 times ive been its gone downhill....i went few weeks ago to portstewart one as hasnt been since it moved and i didnt enjoy it at all...but gave it the benefit of the doubt and went back but i can assure it will be last time. Went on sunday morn after a lovely walk on the beach with my other half. He had thr French toast and i had what was meant to be a raspberry and white chocolate scone. My scone was posioned with cinnamon which i dont think shouldve been in it and the white chocolate on top was like the sauce u get on your ice cream in mauds and was stuck to the plate rather than the scone. So disspointed and wont be rushing back!! This place has really gone down hill. It seems that the more bob and berts is expanding the more downhill the food is...obviously money means more than reputation!!

What a shame it’s gone from a delight to a fright! Fry was barely edible. Would need a hammer and chisel to break tiny rock hard piece of dried up soda bread. Lots of choice on the Prom now so will give here a rest and see if things improve. Hope they do cos previously was really good.

What happened to the portstewart branch? Used to be so good and the best place for breakfast. Now the last 3 times I’ve been, it’s gotten so terrible. Bacon really undercooked, eggs tastes like rubber and black pudding badly over cooked. Things missing from order and staff totally disinterested and rude. Very disappointed! The new location is lovely and really well done up but not enough to bring me back for food. Hopefully it drastically improves and goes back to the great quality it had when it first opened.

Excited to see the new Bob and Berts. New restaurant roomy and brighter than before. A very good menu, however food on display not appetising, looking dried up and appears like it has been there few days. Staff unhelpful and inefficient. Tables left uncleared with customers doing it themselves. Teething problems maybe, good Management certainly could improve smooth running. Will return in few weeks time and update.

Don’t come here if you’re on a diet! Everything looks amazing! Called into the portrush branch one afternoon for a coffee and ended up completely ruining our dinner as the buns are just too good to ignore. To be fair Bob & Berts are more cafe/restaurants than coffee shops, menu’s huge and very appetising.

Took family in while visiting the north coast.First of all you couldnt hear yourself think,thought i was in Barrys Portrush. We ordered poached eggs and to our shock they were on our table in mins,alarm bells ringing i said to the waitress that was quick to which she replied,with a smile,they are cooked the day before like the burgers,its what we do on busy weekends.Well my heart sank, goes to show you dont know what your eating.Is this right or am i behind the times.My heart doesnt lay to that and will not be back..:(

Fantastic well cooked breakfast in this new B and B's in Portstewart. Loads of room for our group of 15 and lots of choice.

I have been in the old premises and always had a good meal, now they have moved a few doors up and it was awful.we ordered fairly simple meals and went to sit. Most tables were positioned such that customers are almost sitting on top of each other with no room to move. Waited 15 minutes to get the food and when it came it was warm only, that because most meals sit on the serving hatch for some time, we observed a couple of tables meals sat there for 10 minutes before actually being taken to the table. We will not be going in here again until they have a real rethink on the meaning of service.

Nous y sommes allés deux matins de suite pour prendre le petit déjeuner tôt le matin avant de partir en roadtrip. Les sandwichs sont bons et les muffins aussi.

There are not enough staff in the coffee shop to both process orders and clean up after patrons. Therefore the emphasis has been put on processing as many orders as possible with whatever staff there are, while used tables go uncleaned. The staff who are clearing tables are untrained in minimum standards, leaving trays of dirty plates and cups sitting around. We had to ask twice to have our table cleared from the previous customers. The floor hadn’t been swept at all and there were dead flies along the window seat which we had to use as seating. It’s such a shame that the owners have invested so much in stylish new facilities, but have failed to invest in enough staff, or in adequate training of staff to ensure their cafe operates to acceptable standards.

New Bob and Berts coffee shop in Portstewart. Only just opened and absolutely no consideration given to disabled access. Missed out on two tables when they became available because they were inaccessible for my wife's wheelchair. It was suggested by one staff member that I should sit at the tables outside where there is more room! Most of the tables inside would be inaccessible for wheelchair users even if the shop was empty. Tables too close together and long bench seats where wheelchairs cannot get near the table. Poor planning for such a new store. On the plus side one particular staff member (Lois - she's a real star) was incredibly empathic and supportive and a very kind couple seeing my predicament offered to hold their table (one of the few accessible ones) for me when they had finished. If not for that it is likely I'd have had to leave. Such a shame in this day and age. Food was delicious by the way.

I would have ordered a honeycomb ice cream or plain chocolat but they had none so I had the equivalent of a “ Magnum” ice cream stock they do & they had several flavours & shapes . The other was a triple scoop of vanilla , chocolat / caramel / vanilla all very tasty !

Four adults called in for breakfast. After a short wait in the queue we gave our order to a young lady. One of our number doesn't eat much bread not black pudding so we asked for the "famous fry" without those. Two other fry's and one pancakes with maple syrup. The process is you order, pay and then take seats at one of the tables. This is a new cafe, much bigger than the previous one which was just a bit along the street. There is a nice atmosphere in the cafe.

Never again! Order at the counter after queueing for ages. Carry your own drinks including the coffee which was hot when ordered but drunk cold before any food ever arrived. Simple order of scrambled eggs took for ever. Toast was cold, coffee was finished and the scrambled eggs were rubbery and seemed to have been made from a powder or ‘instant’ pack.

Simple tasty flavorful food. Very family friendly and free coffee refills. The free water tap is great and had good kids meal options.

Cool place with great staff and a happy casual atmosphere. You grab seats as they come free. The good was tasty and good value. We were just in from a busy day and this place was ideal. A good step up from a chipper but not nearly as formal as a restaurant- great with kids.

Bob & Bert's, Portstewart, have recently moved into new premises. We visited the new premises shortly after they opened. The food is still as good as ever but the layout of the seated & service queue areas needs to be altered. There are two bottlenecks where the queue joins onto the seated area making it awkward for customers to access the seated area. Staff coming through with kitchen prepared food experience the same problem. As well as the bottlenecks, there's too many tables in the seated area. I don't think that parent with buggies or customers in wheelchairs would be able to move through the seated area to either get to a table or to leave.

We ordered 2 adults and 1 kids meal. Nothing to difficult with that. Kids meal come out along with one adult. 10 minutes later still waiting on the second meal which is a baked potato. I ask a staff member to check. 20 mins still nothing so I ask again. 30 mins so my husband goes in. They haven't even started it. After a 40 minute wait it arrived. It wasn't worth the wait and the service so poor. A lot of staff but they all seemed a bit clueless and didn't know what to be at. We actually had to clear our own table when we arrived. Overall really poor won't be back

It’s finally here! The staff in the old restaurant have been talking this place up for months and at last I have the chance to put their words of praise to the test. First of all it’s location location location! This place has a prime spot on the promenade where the old Bon Appetite used to be and it covers roughly the same footprint. The views are still spectacular across the bay towards Donegal and like a good hairdo they change everyday. The sea never fails to capture the imagination and get the creative juices flowing. That’s where the similarity ends. This place is a fantastic wide open space with bright colours and a real “happening” vibe. The set up is designed to cater for families or the solo traveller with perimeter bench seating and trendy beach hut style booths. Size is important and this place allows plenty of room to chat without feeling that one is imposing on their nearest neighbour! If you are lucky enough to get a window armchair then you are “landed” as you get the comfort of a beautifully crafted antique style leather chair accompanied by that beautiful view I mentioned earlier. What about restrooms I hear you ask? These are great! After all a restroom is only as good as its last passenger so to speak, and with regular spot checks b&b; has it covered. Ice cream counter is a new addition and it’s going to be a super successful new service with a wide range of great new flavours for a “poke”. What about the service? In here was efficient and friendly as ever. To be honest the staff are second to none and are more than happy to help, always with a smile and friendly word. The rest is as it was, bob and bert’s make good coffee and good food and with the buzz that was apparent when I was in.. it’s going to be a great venue for that coffee or lunch date. Well done guys, to paraphrase Britney, oops you’ve done it again! So it’s good vibes from me #taste.n.sea to the good vibes of b&b;! Really love this place. Great flavour in dishes. Chilli Beef pitta and skinny fries is lovely. Very good choice of burgers and steak sandwiches great too. Music in background very appropriate. Well worth a visit.

Do lovely cakes and food and the coffee is beautiful. But the girls or not very friendly who work in it.you dont feel very welcomed. Staff would need training to have manners and be more friendly.
