Excellent and friendly service. The lady serving us made a real fuss of our young daughter. Steak was served on a hot griddle which I’ve never seen before and was a fantastic idea. Very delicious, will definitely be returning.

What a gem! Fantastic quality locally sourced fillet steak cooked to your personal preference on a hot plate. Tasty, succulent and the most entertaining way to eat a steak! some of the best steak ive ever had.....went there for dinner....the steak, we had fillets, is cooked on a hotplate at the table....great meat, chips, salads and the deserts are really good too.....not very expensive but a wonderful meal.......go there......

Have been here several times, always had steak and it has always been amazing. Best way to eat steak. In my opinion, better than Miller and Carter. Recommend 1000%. Service and cleanliness are excellent. Always friendly and welcoming!

Just had dinner here with my wife & cannot stress enough how warm our welcome was from the lovely lady who served us & how high the standard of food that we received. I had the best fillet of steak I have ever eaten and it was round & very big served on a hot stone so it could be cooked exactly to the diners preference. My wife had superb fishcakes & all the sides, starters & desserts were of a similar very high standard. The ambience for quite a small place was lovely with tasteful décor & exceptional levels of cleanliness. I intend to highly recommend this venue to our neighbours & friends and once again I stress the warm welcome we received from the lovely lady who served us.

Steaks were delicious and all was well presented. Great cosy atmosphere with staff not too busy to help. Looking forward to going back.

We were visiting Tiverton in the evening to see a band and decided to go for dinner first. Not knowing the area, we had a look at what was available and since we live a good steak..this looked ideal. Easy to book by phone. The very friendly hostess, Tanya welcomed us immediately and we were seated straight away. Our meal was absolutely wonderful. We went straight for a main and chose the ribeye steaks. Served on a hot stone, to be cooked at your table as you wish. Perfection all round. Well seasoned, fresh and tasty. The accompanying extras were hot & tasty (mushroom, tomato and onion rings) I had the sauteed potatoes and hubby had chips. Great portions too. Our evening felt very relaxed and unhurried. We were offered the dessert menu and picked the Manhattan stack. I'm so glad we did. Oh my goodness. It was incredible. What was not to love?! Chocolate Mousse with a caramel truffle centre, topped with a creamy profiterole and dark chocolate. Wow! Despite not living locally, we would definitely go out of our way to visit again and I have already told our friends how great it is.

Looking for somewhere to eat early evening, we stumbled upon this quiet, steak house by chance. Run by a married couple, welcome was friendly, service prompt and food was superb. Complemented by a good selection of drinks and attention to cleanliness. Will definitely go back if in the area again. Thoroughly recommend!

We are not local to the area and found this restaurant by chance. We were delighted we did. Not something I had come across before but our steaks arrived nearly blue on a hot stone platter. It transpires you then cut the steak and use the stone to cook it further to whatever degree you like. It was superb! The meat was tender and tasty with the sides also well prepared and presented. The starter was also very good. An excellent meal. The restaurant itself is quite unassuming but definitely one worth visiting!

This restaurant doesn’t disappoint. Our second visit here and the food, service etc is as good as our previous visit. The restaurant is small but very cosy, it did get a little warm with the hot stone you cook your steak on, but oh so worth it to have a unique and fabulously cooked piece of meat….so worth a visit.

Nine of us met for an evening meal and we all had a fantastic time. The restaurant itself is not large, therefore has a nice cosy atmosphere, very relaxing for an evening meal. The food was excellent, starters, main and dessert. Most of us had the steaks which were of a very high quality. Others had chicken (classic and piri piri) also great quality, which they all thoroughly enjoyed. The service and attention to detail was exemplary. All of us agreed it would be difficult to find a better steak house/restaurant with such quality. Thank you for making our evening so good.

This steak restaurant is a little gem. The service and food is simply amazing. It’s taken us 2 years + to discover it, but it will now be our go to place whenever we want a good quality steak.

Went to dinner last night with my family, and I am beyond impressed with the service provided. Tanya, one of the owners, was there to make sure our every need was met. She was very friendly and kind, which made the night that much more enjoyable. The food and drinks themselves were fantastic, and we cannot fault the experience as a whole. We had a very good time and would love to go again.

Just amazing steak!! We never eat steak at home so this was a real treat - went for the fillet steak and it didn’t disappoint. So reasonably priced as well. Family run, such friendly service. Very grateful to our friend for finding this place and very grateful to the owners to making unforgettable food, which will play a big part in our memories of our trip away to Devon!

We came with friends from out of town, and they like their steaks. They were very impressed and so were we! We've been before but each time it gets better. Not just the steaks but the sauteed potatoes were fantastic. Topped off with excellent service and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended you won't regret it!

The steak was very good, but the rest of the food average, and pay extra for chips or sauté potatoes. 5 of us put on a long table for 10, later 2 strangers were added at the end, wWaitress started collecting plates before we had finished for both main course and desserts. Front door had to be opened on a chilly evening as so much smoke from steaks cooking on stones. They pride themselves on food being local produce but need to up there game in other areas, 2 of our group had gin and tonics and both thought they tasted a bit strange

Weve eaten here a few times, but haven't got round to writing a review. Lovely place, owned by a hard working couple. Prices are reasonable same as anywhere if eating out. We always order the fillet steak, because its so nice but must try others. Our daughter ate the salmon and loved it. Booked through Facebook without any trouble ,ook forward to coming again. We keep meaning to bring the in laws to come and taste the steak.

Wow Wow Wow, this is the best kept secret in Devon. We ordered 10 oz sirloin steaks which came beautifully presented on a hot lava rock so you could cook it to your own preference. It came with 3 dipping sauces and a generous helping...

Excellent menu, generous with the portions, the made to order burgers are delicious as is the rest of the substantial menu, friendly owner always chatty and on quieter occasions has even put in Peppa pig for our 5year old daughter 🙂

Stopped for an enormous hot chocolate which was lovely, the venue is a bit basic but good for a pit stop.

AWFUL . Badly Managed by arrogant lady. Complained how Clostraphobic the front outside area was and how the cake ordered was hard and tasteless She didn't want to know about customer feedback and told me the cake was made that morning. And then told me as a customer that if I didn't like the place I should go somewhere else Sadly I know this is no way to run a business , especially in a dying town . It was obvious she believed her opinion was more valid than mine I won't be returning there again. PM

I occasionally work in mid Devon and just happened to spot this place. The staff were very attentive and quite charming without bearing overbearing. Good food, beer and all finished with apple crumble and custard!

Having lived and worked in Tiverton well over 10 years never knew this place existed let alone did such amazing food. Popped in while in town before a visit to barbers. Looks tiny from outside but the reasonable size inside and and even bigger welcome from the lovely staff. The menu had lots of variation I decided to go for a Devon burger the other half decided on chicken dish and my 18 month old son went for kids sausage and chips. On arrival the kids sausage and chips was the same size as many place serve a full adult meal but luckily he has his a father's appetite Nd demolished most of it mine and the wife's meals were massive all cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The staff even put peppa pig on the TV for our son to watch. Amazing service all for a reasonable price too. We will be back again and again and again.

Been here once never seen many people inside and the breakfast wasn’t nice at all the beans so sweet it was disturbing and the sausages were awful not great quality at all the toast was like cardboard and the staff including the owner just sit out at the tables talking. One other customer was in there at the same time with his daughter who got a roast and she started choking the chef was sat at the table mumbling “wasnt anything to do with me” shrugging his shoulders. I don’t know why people are saying it’s great quality we all know it’s not!!

Food isnt special to say the least. My peas where in a weird gloopy water 🤔 and veything else was takeaway standard. The owner is far to forward too, not just friendly but to sit on the table next to us and chat while we were eating wasn't enjoyable.

Like many great eating places we came across Blue Velvet unexpectedly. Just off Fore Street the Bistro could easily be missed so keep an eye out. Welcome was warm and friendly and we were given time to choose from the menu. We were in for breakfast and decided on the "double" sized English breakfast. Everything was cooked well and tasted great, the chef going as far as cooking our bacon crispy the way we wanted. Coffee was lovely too. Not a criticism, but observation. We loved the decoration and the quirky table and chairs but felt the mirror balls and super trouper spotlights where out of character. The chilled display unit was a little noisy also but there is a good choice of tables further away from the chiller. Apart from that if you are in Tiverton definitely pay a visit to this excellent care/Bistro.

we complained about our food as it was cold and had a hair in it. The man came out and said that it was not cold at all and that we put a hair in there to try and get a free meal. I am disgusted by this poor mannered owner. I will never be coming back to this shop and will be making sure none of my family or friends ever attend this awful restaurant.

Nice little cafe, good breakfast, sausages are the real deal. A few lagers and ciders available. A take away and deliver menu, with freshly made pizzas available also.

Myself and a friend went here on a Tuesday evening as there isn't many places to go in town. I had the lasagne and my friend has scampi. The lasagne tasted good and you could tell it was home made, it was a little hard around the edges and not hot enough for me. But I would definitely go back. I do like the sound of there homemade burgers, so will look forward to that next time.. Thank you Blue Velvet..

Lovely food and drink, had double burger was of such high quality loaded with cheese and good quality bacon, waitress even put on peppa pig on big screen for our 4 year old, friendly, good value for money. Cake and tea, breakfasts or something more substantial our new favourite in tiverton , well done keep up the exceptional work, place also opens at night time also does take away delivered in evening ☺

Hmmm, not sure where all the “excellent” reviews come from ! The centre of Tiverton is not exactly blessed with a lot of choice but from the outside, this bistro looked like one of the more interesting places, plus they serve Lavazza coffee. It’s a bit quirky inside and definitely needs a makeover, I found it quite dated and depressing. Oddly there are disco balls and nightclub spotlights hanging from the ceiling. Those plus the sparkly coverings on the supporting columns made us wonder what this place turns into after hours!. The place was busy the lunchtime we went in, though only one staff member on the floor meant a little delay in having our orders taken. I shouldn’t complain though, the poor girl was working as hard as she could. Our food arrived quickly and it was nice and hot but a little uninspiring in terms of presentation and taste. Overall we would rate this as very much average.

The menu here is very versatile! You would go in thinking of a basic breakfast menu and other lighter bites. But you'd be wrong. Apart from the fact that the big breakfast is amazing and great prices. You could also order anything from a panini to a rump steak! The waiter was very friendly and made sure she took our awkward requests ha! One of our party was having a steak and requested some herb and garlic butter. Well the chef himself came out and ensured we could have some and actually made a small batch just for us! Amazing! The place has a very rustic, shabby chic feel to place that is very inviting and comfortable

Surprised by the high rating. This was an average place to go for lunch. I had the full English and my partner had tuna mayo. The full English was okay, but the tuna mayo was pretty revolting. It came as a big pile of slop on the plate, not very appetising and pretty poor quality.

Well what can I say we were a group of 9 which was 6 adults and 3 children,my starter was tomato and basil soup which was lovely my partner had mac and cheese which was done in the shape of mozzarella sticks they were yummy ! I had traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings to be honest a kids portion would have done me there was loads and it was cooked perfectly,I'm a very fussy eater but had no complaints the other half had gammon which he really enjoyed too ! We were so full we took our desserts home which were delicious,thank you soooo much for a very enjoyable xmas dinner we were a bit worried about eating out on xmas day but I'm sooo glad we did and it was a very good price thanks again !!!!

Wandered into Tiverton on a very quiet but sunny November day. Tiverton happened to be closed before 2pm on this lovely day, but as myself and partner walked through the deserted streets, we came upon the Blue Velvet Bistro. The atmosphere was very much league of gentlemen, but two cups of tea and a very nice Belgian waffle with a pastry described as having “crushed grapes” soon had our energy levels back to requirements and we were on our merry way. Hopefully we can return one evening and try the lively night life.

We are on holiday with the dog and passed by in the hope for breakfast. Breakfast it certainly was! Great portion, big plate of the full works, I'm particular on my bacon, it was cooked very well and wasn't overly salty at all. Best latte I've had in a long time! Will probably return before our holiday ends.
