Blue Sapphire in Tameside

Been going to this place for at least 10 years, wasn’t impressed at all last night, don’t think we will be going back

Visited 5/1/24. We have used this place many times over the years. We hadnt been for sometime and last time felt the normal superb food and service had dipped slightly. Still good but not quite at the usual high standard. Last night it was back to its superb best. We had the set menu A. the mixed starter platter was great in particular the chicken satay sticks were lovely juicy chicken. The three mains were all excellent. The thai red curry is awesome, the beef in oyster sauce superb. Im baffled by the one star reviews and would question there authenticity. Service was superb. Definitely back to its best. Great value too. Dont forget its BYO alcohol.

An excellent place to explore Thai cuisine. Great food and friendly staff. A relaxing environment to enjoy a good meal.

Disappointed after eating here tonight. Our starter was nice - mixed starter for two but the main meals were average at best and seemed to be heavily seasoned with white pepper? We had a side order of salt and pepper chips which were served in a bowl which had a fairly large chip in the porcelain. Disappointed as I had high hopes after our starters but it went downhill. Staff were very friendly though.

The fact that the restaurant didn't have an empty table while we were there emphasises its popularity and based upon our visit for the first time on Saturday 28th October, it has to be because of the quality of the food and service. We were served quickly, the food was tasty and hot and the young waitresses were very attentive in their duties. It didn't bother us that it wasn't licenced. We just took a bottle of wine with us and paid the one pound per person corkage fee which worked out much cheaper than buying restaurant wine. My partner thought that cost wise it was more expensive than other Thai restaurants we have been to. Whether that was the case or not though is immaterial when you consider how satisfied we were with our evening.

We had my brother’s 30th birthday here and the staff were amazing! They let us put banners up and they brought the cake out with candles, plates etc. The food was excellent and we were all happy with our meals. Highly recommend.

The flavours of each dish we tried was absolutely phenomenal and flavoursome, very authentic taste! Pad krapow with rice and also the noodle was amazing and the pad prik poa was so tasty and spicy I loved every bite. I cannot wait to try other dishes! The gentlemen who served us was al very knowledgeable and helped us with picking our dish so thank you for a great day my family loved the whole experience 👍

This restaurant is great for amazing food, if your looking for authentic thai food this place is the one for you. We had a variety if dish and I could not fault anything from starters to main. I have travelled to many cities for a great Thai food and this place is now on my top list! worth every penny!!!!

Ordered a takeaway here for the first time. Lovely food, fresh and tasty. The only negative is the takeaway prices are the same as eating in. The pad Thai was delicious and reasonable price,however, the pad khee Mao was priced the same but was only a small portion that needed a side dish so was quite pricey. I would recommend eating in but not as a takeaway as seems a little overpriced for the portion size.

Food was amazing. Great price and you can also take your own alcohol. So saved on that aswell. Staff very friendly and great service with a smile :)

Really poor! Used to be good pre 2020 but we heard a rumour the old owners were back so we decided to give it another go (it wasn’t the case). Prawn starter battered with onion rings???? Swimming in grease. Rib starter cheapest meat poorly cooked. Ordered talapia which was deep fried and had the texture of leather! Really disappointed and won’t be back!

my sister and I visited last night I have never had tai before, so I was very impressed, delicious food fantastic service and lovely atmosphere, so overall I would definitely recommend it.

I terrible food .yredcurry was watery and full of sugar really annoyed ..ordered via uber eats.. myfood was just water and sugar with vegetables how did this even happen

The food was amazing, loved how you can make the food as spicy as you want. The service was brilliant, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is pretty small but is also quite cosy, but the bigger table is right infront of the door, considering many people have big meals here, this table is probably used quite frequently; this makes any on that table pretty chilly, and smell the smoke from people outside.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Blue Sapphire. We went for the set meal for two which consisted of a great Thai mixed starter followed by Sea Bass boiled rice and assorted dishes. This was followed by Honeycomb Ice Cream. The meal, service and the whole experience was out of this world. Highly recommended. PS take your own wine

Bish, bash, bosh. Well, it was anniversary time, so we decided to try somewhere that's been on the radar for a while Blue Sapphire Thai Cuisine in Denton. I'll start off by saying parking for any of the Denton restaurants is a nightmare! Anyway got there at opening time and got a table before the inevitable rush. Drinks ordered, two mocktails as they don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own for a corkage fee. The drinks were great though, very fresh and tasty. We ordered the starters and shared the mixed platter and I had a bowl of Tom Kha Gai, and both were absolutely superb. Again, super fresh, great tastes and bang on. Mains were vegetarian Pad Thai and Tamarind duck with egg fried rice. Both dishes absolutely smashed it out of the park. The duck was especially worth a mention as it's easy to make a mess of it, but no, they didn't here. Anyway, overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Only deducting a star because the dessert choices as my other half said, were utterly tragic. A rehash of the dessert menu offering items like Thai mango sticky rice or coconut pudding etc would get that extra star. Try it, you won't be disappointed. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Visited many times here, came in January and thought the food wasn't as good as previous visits, decided to visit again to give the benefit of the doubt and sadly won't be returning. Quality and taste is not what it was, 4 of us dined and All of the same opinion and we all had different Such a shame as we have recommended this place for years

OK but very overpriced for what it is.

There was a large group of us had to pre order but all food came out together all hot and fresh

watered down sweet chilli sauce and curry. Been several times before not upto usual standards. no need to make sweet chilli sauce watered down both had it in our starters dissapointing not much salad on plate either 6.50 and 3.50 for prawn crackers, I get food price increases but dont feel I got value for money on our visit. Curries were not as normal hardly any veg in there. Also now 1.00 corkage in drinks, which is fine but need to update website. I feel its under new management didnt recognise any of the staff.

Ordered takeaway via Deliveroo. Green and Red Curries stank and tasted SO strongly of fish sauce and shrimp paste. They were completely inedible. The other dish we ordered was very, very average too. £35 wasted.

I've eaten here many times now and have to say one of the best Thai's I've eaten at. Everything is so fresh, fragrant and so flavoursome. The staff are lovely and attentive and eating inside is a very nice relaxing experience.

It's a byo so don't forget your beer/wine. However the food is excellent, the surroundings are very nice but the staff are amazing. We had a set menu A which was plenty of food for 2 that we had enough left for lunch.

I had Thai milk tea. My wife had her small bottle of red wine, and my daughter had an apple and orange juice. On to the mains, and they were out in a flash again. The staff were super attentive and on their ‘a’ game. We all agreed the food was hot, tasted fresh and was of a very good standard. Our standards, I would say, are quite high. We have been to most of the Thai restaurants in the Greater Manchester area to know what'd okay and what's good. The price was on the higher side than we’d usually pay but was well worth it because of the quality.

We have eaten Thai food in Thailand, visited many Thai restaurants in the Uk and tried most in the Greater Manchester area. Blue Sapphire food is superb. Go for set menu A if you are a couple, completely delicious food. Great vibe, lovely friendly staff and so bloody cheap. BYO booze so set menu A is a Huge mixed platter starter and then 3 main dishes with rice - £42 bill. No where can beat that.

Everything was perfect the service was very good nice time between courses, the food was done as requested a very enjoyable evening

Very disappointing.... take away portions are very small..in tiny plastic trays that are half full and seem to be microwaved instead of properly cooked.. shame.. it used to be very.good a few years ago... but not now...

Been visiting this restaurant off and on for over 5 years and have yet to have a bad meal, always great service and helpful staff, food is consistently good and my favourites are the spare ribs to start and drunken duck with sticky rice for mains but be warned its very hot.

I chose this restaurant to host a party for 20+ family members based in the nearby Denton area. As I live in London, I had to take a leap of faith based on the Google reviews alone and I'm so pleased that I did. The owners were friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. Well done, Blue Sapphire - I think you have twenty new regular customers now!

Authentic dishes and friendly staff. Service is good and quick. As it is a byo the cost is very good and they are happy to store beers in the fridge.

Was taken fot lunch had thai fish cakes and sweet and sour sensible lunch tlme portions really tastie went for the least spicy as can get indigestion. Cant comment on prices as it was a treat

Ordered from this place twice now. The first time we ordered pad thai and the beef strips starter which were excellent. However I ordered again this time one of my favourite thai dishes the pad kee mao gai. Every time I have had this in Thailand which is a lot it has been served with large flat noodles but they made it with stringy rice noodles which was disappointing. It was still tasty and had a good bit of fresh chilli in which a lot of Asian restaurants in the west leave out to cater to the western palate. Would still order from here again as the food is good.

Dined here with my daughter and loved it. Food was superb. Staff are very friendly and courteous. Very nice restaurant and would definitely eat here again. Didn’t realise it is BYOB, but still excellent. Very highly recommended!

Just ordered noodles with king prawns and a portion of Thai spare ribs the meal was almost cold only got 5 prawns , spare ribs were tough , bland tasteless and Disgusting all for 19 quid terrible cooking I’ve complained. To Uber about this The ribs were just awful

Visited the restaurant and the meal was okay but not got the same kick in the food lacked spice but definitely ask for a little more spice next time. also no veg roses with my starter was a lovely touch you should return it help presentation staff was lovely polite and nicely dressed .Would I return probably !

Had a really nice meal here, portions were good size, came away feeling nicely full (and I have a decent appetite). Starters and mains for 4 came to £70, with a few soft drinks in there. One thing to bear in mind is no alcohol served here, but you can take your own.

Been going to Blue Sapphire for a few years now. Last night was the first visit since they reopened. We had set menu A for 2, the staff were happy to swap out one dish for another.The food was as delicious as ever, mixed starter is served on a large platter, all very tasty. Mains beef and mange tout and mushroom in oyster sauce, delicious, Red thai curry and we swapped out the sweet and sour for chicken cashews and chilli. All really good. Great service, lovely staff and the bill £42 (you take your own alcohol) We ate out a lot across the north west and this place is still our favourite.

I have ordered food from here several times. Everything is so delicious. I started ordering from here during lockdown. Chicken is so fresh and good quality. This is the best thai food I have ever had. Thai red curry is recommended. Also kung pao chicken noodles are spot on.

We ordered a takeaway from here on Friday 26/02/21. We ordered 2x mains, 2x sides and 1x fish cakes starter. We received 4 prawns, a little piece of fish, a bit of boiled rice and 4 tiny fish cakes (the kind sold in frozen bulk at asian supermarkets). Not only was this an insulting small amount of food, it was very poor quality and barley warm when it reached us. I have eaten a lot of Thai food, from a lot of restaurants both in the UK and when I lived in Thailand. This is by a wide margin the worst food in terms of both quantity and quality I have come across. I have included a picture of one of the mains for reference. After opening my order and trying a bit, I called to complain to see if an amicable solution could be reached, as any reputable restaurant would aim to ensure they were providing a good service. Not this place, they just told me it wasn't their problem and I should take it up with UberEats and PayPal, as if I had ordered directly from them I wouldn't have had to pay £45.00 for disappointing food (this is literally what they told me). Avoid like the plague!

First time trying today and it was absolutely gorgeous. I ordered the Weeping Tiger Steak and the flavour was lovely. Baring in mind this was a takeaway too I couldn't imagine how much better dining in would be. Highly recommend.

We had a terrible take away on New Years Eve. So disappointed. The ribs were tough and chewy. I didn’t know what part of the chicken it was, it was bland and rubbery. My husbands prawns were the same and the sticky rice was inedible and and the tiniest take away portion of rice we had ever seen. It went in the bin along with the £33.00 we had spent.

I’m a lover of Thai food and was blown away by how good my recent meal was here as was my other half! The staff were lovely too and the pricing fair. Can’t wait to go back!

We have been to blue sapphire on many occasions and the food is fantastic, however ordered a takeaway for the family tonight at 18.30 and they said the delivery would be with us before 20.00 hrs ...... at 19.58 we received an E.mail stating the food had been cancelled due to them being busy very disappointing as they could have informed us way before that it’s fair to say we will not be going back due to very poor customer service.

I have been going to this Thai restaurant for years and would not recommend any other! It is only small inside and probably consists of 12/13 tables but I think it makes the atmosphere cosy. It is BYO so makes your night a bit cheaper if you want to drink. The menu has so much choice and they even do mocktails. The food is always filled with flavour and the service is great- nothing is ever too much. My favourite dishes are the garlic pepper king prawns, Thai spare ribs which are amazing, prawn Tempura and tamarind duck. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Suitable for all occasions but he sure to book if at the weekend.

By far the best thai food I've ever eaten... Highly reccomend the Tom ka soup and thai green curry, both are delicious. The homemade ice tea is excellent. Very friendly staff and nice locale too. Definitely will come back when I'm in the area again.

As a family we've been visiting this restaurant for the last couple of years. It offers many authentic Thai dishes, and the staff are always very polite. I would especially recommend going for lunch, as they have a set menu that is incredible value for money. It really is one of the best places to eat in Denton, and I would highly recommend.

Last minute meal can't fault service. Food was spot on. Definitely Will be visiting again 10/10 👍👍👍👍

We visit Blue Sapphire every week for lunch. The set lunch is fantastic value with a great choice and you can bring your own wine. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. We would not miss our weekly trip to Blue Sapphire.Rob and Sheila

Ordered off ubereats. The flavours were ok but the food itself was pretty much inedible. Drunken duck noodles had barely any noodles, mainly consisting of stringy bits of duck fat. The chunks of duck that I tried to enjoy were encased in fat. There was so much oil on my food, I was considering putting it in a bowl. My soup came with huge chunks of ginger and half of a tomatoe which came in two quarter pieces which I didnt expect to find in a coconut and chicken soup. For what I paid I am extremely disappointed. £35 to basically throw my food into the bin and cook something myself!
