Blue Orchid in Central Bedfordshire

Returning customers! Attended twice within a few weeks it was that tasty. First visit was a large family meal. Service was great, food was amazing and all reasonable prices. I loved it so much my partner and I returned a week or so later. Again great food, lovely atmosphere.

Disappointed with booking a table for mothers day I like to visit here for the Indian menu , every visit they only come out with the Thai menu , which on this visit it was only the Thai being served till 5.30 I would t have booked if I’d how known should have stated on the online booking Starters were ok Noddle dish was nothing great It was so cold in here too Unfortunately to avoid this disappointment over menu / times etc I’ll go to the Indian restaurant

Good place to eat. Been there first time. Great atmosphere. Parking was a little difficult on very busy days. Strongly recommend going. Little on the pricey side but worth it.

Lovely food served by attentive and polite staff.

It was my first time tonight and I have to say the food was superb, decor and ambience is absolutely stunning and it really feels like I'm back in Thailand.The green curry is absolutely delicious as well as other dishes like pad Thai and the fried rice, just spot on! The staff were very friendly and helpful and I will be back soon!

Lovely meal ,but felt so rushed ,2 hour slot, but after less than 1 and a half hours we were asked to sit in lounge ,I do not expect this when paying £144 for a meal for 2 !!,such a shame ,obviously bums on seats are more important than customer needs, so very dissatisfied, will not be returning as I had expected better ,definitely not recommend for discerning diner and will not return or recommend,I also expect that I will not get a reply to this review .

Me and my girlfriend came to this restaurant on recommendation after we couldn’t go to London for dinner, and have to say it was probably better than most places we’ve been in London! Service was above 10/10 and couldn’t fault the lovely people that work in there. I didn’t get the waiters name but he was good. Would 100% recommend to anyone asking about places to eat out at. The interior was perfect and you can dress up nicely and fit in great (my girlfriend wore heels and felt comfortable.) Food was brilliant and came in good time. Very good prices and would have been happy to pay more imo for the overall experience. Will definitely go back!

Always a great experience. Good service, excellent food, and decent prices. Outdoor dining under cover of a pagoda in the summer/pandemic. Good vegan and vegetarian options. Parking limited, but sometimes spaces on surrounding streets. Parking at village hall probably not a good idea anymore as it gets locked up.

Such a beautiful place to visit, decor and atmosphere is great, the food is fantastic, the service is welcoming and friendly, would recommend.

Building & design was great. Service was very good. Food authentic & very nice tasting, good portion sizes. A nice little treat at the end of the meal the staff surprised my mum with a bday treat with candles & we all sang Happy Birthday.., was a nice touch & appreciated.

During my stay at the hotel beside them, I was thrilled to have tried this restaurant twice during my stay! The food is INCREDIBLE! Never have I been so satisfied with flavours, price, atmosphere, service and concern for my allergy! When I went first my myself, they were very kind and greeted me and didn't mind seating me alone. At the end of the meal I was offered a hot towel and a chocolate. I felt like royalty! It was so fancy! The inside decor is stunning, so beautiful and transports you into another world entirely. So charming we will be making a special trip back just to enjoy it again for a date night! A few nights later we ordered take out to bring back to the hotel. We ordered Chicken Phad Thai and mixed veg in soya sauce. My husband wanted to make sure it wasn't oyster sauce as they do have it on the menu and I am allergic to shellfish. I did let them know as I placed the order. When I called back to triple check, they not only actually checked with the chefs, but also assured me it was in soya sauce and a broth, no oyster sauce and also didn't include prawn crackers for me as they wanted to be safe!!! BEST. MIX. VEG. I've ever had in my life! The fresh garlic is outstanding and makes quite the difference and impact on flavours! My husband is a qualified chef and he was so pleased, we almost called back to place another order! Simply divine, if you want a lovely meal with very reasonable prices, I HIGHLY recommend this place!!!! Best meal I had all holiday! Thank you thank you can't wait to come back! <3

Ate here whilst staying overnight at the hotel next door. Beautiful restaurant. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. Highly recommend and will most definitely visit again.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best Chicken Pad Thai I have ever eaten. Fantastic quality and value.

Myself and my partner went in December for a very rare spontaneous date. The parking is down the side. The restaurant is honestly beautiful inside, the service with a smile and is just so nice and calming. Truly is one of the best places around milton keynes and the surrounding areas for food. I didn't get to see their nature garden due to the season but you must must try their food and atmosphere. The food is is unbelievable and there are dishes for myself and my partner who is vegetarian. Food comes in reasonable time and the price is also very reasonable. Give it a go!

The restaurant is lovely and has a private car park, but the food and service were lacking sadly. Good selection of drinks and an extensive Thai menu. The waiters didn’t have a grip in the service which was slow and we were left with dirty main course plates in front of us for over 20 mins and ignored by the waiting staff. Food was average and my dining partners yellow curry was far too hot for what was described as a mild dish. The deserts were factory made curry house type and a disappointment. This really needs to be a 2 star review but I’m feeling generous and the restaurant setting is marvellous. The place is quite small and cramped. Book in advance.

Easy to get to the restaurant. Parking spaces are available adjacent to the restaurant and on the opposite road. The interior was beautiful and felt very magical! We were greeted by a lovely lady and did not have to wait very long to be seated. The staff were kind and understanding when we suddenly had to leave early during our booking. The atmosphere was inviting and peaceful. We had the thai curry, lamb pieces, chicken satay, and grilled chicken sizzler, prawn crackers and some drinks. The bill was reasonably priced. Everything but the duck is halal which we were happy about! The only con is the seating area (very close to other tables).

Awful experience start to finish. seated in the middle of an Isle was walked into at least 3 times. Staff had no idea about the menu when asked questions. This was our first time here so we were unsure of what to get so wanted some guidance. When the starters were brought out I immediately noticed a long hair in my food. They took this away and brought the same plate back out. No apologies given. Dinner was fine nothing special, no one checked to see if we had the correct food or if everything was okay during. I had booked this meal for a birthday and there was no acknowledgment of that at all. Will not be returning.

Food was no better than any other Thai Chinese I ate. So won’t be back. Nice setting and environment though.

Fantastic dinner last night, the staff were attentive and friendly. Food was amazing as always. We went for a birthday and they brought out ice cream and dessert complimentary for the whole table which was a lovely touch. Will be going back again and again, can’t recommend enough.

Great place, great food! Capable of supporting Gluten intolerances and Coeliac. I had lettuce wraps with my duck and the sizzling main was scrummy too! Parking is awful. You literally are better off parking up the road somewhere and having a 5 minute walk to the place, unless you are really lucky.

This restaurant does both thai and indian food. Both menus are fantastic but i find myself ordering the Indian every time i go in the last few years as its my favorite of the two. Lovely atmosphere and the food is 10/10 but its still excellent value for money. I hope it never changes. My favourite indian restaurant.

Owing to a family member being immobile we had to opt for the Takeaway option. Unfortunately, the food was truly awful and looked and tasted as if had been recycled from an all day buffet. Apart from the Panang Curry, none of the dishes had any taste of distinctive Thai spices and aromas. The Thai Dim Sum were a solid mass that had been microwaved to death. The Rice was chalky and not cooked adequately and the Prawn Crackers would not have been out of place if used as packaging in an Amazon delivery box!!! This was all very disappointing, especially as we have eaten here in the past and always enjoyed it. If we had been served this in the Restaurant I would most certainly have sent it back. Sadly, a birthday celebration ruined!!!

Starters and main was simply wonderful. We had the spicy drunken noodles and it was out of this world. Mahin Ahmad was really nice and welcoming. Great service and we will be coming back soon.

Absolutely brilliant! The service was quick and polite, the waiters were at hand whenever we needed something and the food was served piping hot and fresh. The food… was absolutely delicious! Fifteen of us had a reunion dinner in the Blue Orchid. The staff were friendly and very helpful (we are all over 70, some over 80) and even opened the back door to help us leave more easily. We had pre ordered set meals and the food was all hot and tasty. Everyone enjoyed the variety offered. No complaints, and we may even return next year.

A one star rating with regard to service and attitude of who, I presume was the manager. Despite booking well in advance for a party of 14, we arrived to be told we were sitting outside. I explained I had not reserved an outside table and was told we tried to call you today to let you know. When I questioned this, as no message had been left. I was laughed at and told “that’s not how it works”. We were asked to wait in a small crowded entrance and told they would try and get us an inside table as soon as a table had finished their meal ( they were going to ask that party to vacate the table immediately after they had finished eating!!). We asked if complimentary drinks might be offered whilst we wait as there was no time given for when the table might be ready, the response another laugh and “ the drinks will not be free”. The main reason for this poor review is because of the service and attitude. I do not expect to be interrupted, not given eye contact, being told it was my fault even though I hadn’t booked an outside table and laughed at. The one positive is the refund of deposit was provided when asked. From observation, it seems this restaurant clearly overbooks and places profit over customer service and the attitude of a key person is well below what you would expect and quite simply, rude.

A lovely family evening was had at this beautiful restaurant. Food was delicious and dining outside on a warm summer’s evening was just perfect.

Food was absolutely bland and service is rushed. Asked for hot sauce and it was flavoured with fish sauce. Being vegetarian is a absolute joke that they would even serve a sauce like that. My 5 year old nephew could make more tasty food than that. You have been warned! Don’t waste your money.

Came here for a wedding dinner. The atmosphere was great and so were the appetizers. Unfortunately, the main dinner was poor. South Asian dishes are definitely not their specialty. Stick with the fusion dishes.

We have dined at this establishment and also enjoyed numerous take aways however we are beginning to wonder if there has been a change in management of late as on our previous visit on getting our takeaway home there was an item missing when we got home which we notified them of and noting was done . On this occasion we ordered a set meal and there were 3 items missing and the prawn crackers were stale ! As we don’t live locally we called them immediately, explained we are not local and it would be to them to deliver the missing items as I was not prepared to drive there and back again ! After a few minutes they had checked and realised we’d had not got what we ordered and paid for so a full refund was offered and accepted . That said this experience has made us decide to explore other options when looking for a Thai restaurant whether it be dining in or for a takeaway . My advice to anyone ordering a takeaway is to ensure they double check your order on collection , they seem to have enough staff so this should not be an issue . My advice to the manager is you need to employ staff that are capable of ensuring your customers receive what they have ordered and paid and also check your prawn crackers !

The setting, the relaxation music played in the background, the atmosphere created and the delicious food complemented by the exquisite service of the gentleman who was working at the time (did not get a name, unfortunately) made it an outstanding experience. Absolutely lovely. The ladies room was also looking great, with all the little details covered. Very charming place. I wish I could’ve left a tip, but they did not have the option on the card reader. They also offered to pack away my unfinished food, which was great, as I “over-ordered” :D. The hot towel at the end with the little chocolate made it the better 😊

I ordered a family takeaway from the Indian menu, husband collected it, got home, no rice. I called to tell them and they said I hadn’t ordered rice - I reiterated I had. Eventually and without apology they said I could come and collect the rice and it would be free. So another car journey and again no apology when my husband collected it. Food below average - dhansak lacking lentils and prawns, prawn purée portion seems to have halved in size. All in all, v disappointed in service and food.

Being Thai, I just wanted to try some of the thai restaurant around MK. Pop in for a family lunch. Restaurant was beautiful, shame the garden seating area was not opened,it looked so nice on their website. Food was not bad, We had mixed seafood starters and chicken satay, spicy prawn crackers, stir fried scallop, grilled sea bass in banana leaf, stri fried egg noodles with beef and sticky rice. No sign of any Thai staff at all. But the staff were impeccable, provided top notch service. Like I said before, people have different taste buds/pallet. Give it a go and see

This is an absolutely gorgeous place with attentive friendly staff and lovely food.

Myself, my partner and two friends had to endure 2 hours 30 minutes, to be served three starters and a main course. My partner, she did not have a starter, but when her sticky rice was served a plastic boil in the bag was dropped on her plate, still in the plastic bag. Upon complaining we were told that’s how we serve it. They then brought another rice out, this time in a little woven pot but still in a plastic bag. It was sent back. I’ve been here many times before but now never again, very disappointed. For the privilege for this they knocked the rice off the bill and gave a drink for each of us, which wasn’t wanted, still £180, no tip was given.

After placing our order (table for 2) we waited 50 mins for our starters, which we had to ask for, as other tables that arrived & ordered after us, got served. The excuse was ‘as you can see we are very busy’. We then waited patiently for nearly another hour, while other, larger tables, who had ordered after us were served main courses. We were not happy, but tried to be understanding, but another table, who ordered after us, who were complaining, got their food. At this point I asked why, but was given no explanation, so decided to leave. If at any time someone had spoken to us, without using excuses, to placate our irritation, I would not be so angry & hungry. I will not be returning to this restaurant, even though we live locally. Maybe if you cannot cope with the volume, you shouldn’t take the bookings!

Fabulous setting outside but unfortunately it was quite a chilly wind today, however, the staff were so pleasant and efficient, the food was delicious and hot, I really couldn’t fault any of it. Thank you for making my friend’s birthday so special.

This used to be my favourite restaurant and I was so excited to learn they were part of the ‘Gourmet Society’ that offers discount on Monday to Thursday. I phoned to book a table the same evening and agreed a time with the gentleman over the phone. I said that I was a Gourmet Society member because you have to say when you book to be able to use it. I was then told they were fully booked and had too many Gourmet Society customers that evening and I wouldn’t be able to use it. Absolutely appalled!! Why be part of this scheme if they refuse to let customers use it. They had a table available but only if I didn’t use my card for the discount which is valid Mon-Thurs. Will not be going back any time soon!! Hugely disappointed as it has completely changed my view on the restaurant I loved.

From the moment we arrived at this very nicely decorated restaurant we felt relaxed. Although in my eyes it was very busy the staff were still attentive without being intrusive. When the food arrived I thought I was in Gourmet heaven. We had Thai and it was absolutely delightful. We will most definitely be returning and if you haven't been, you need to.

Great food and wonderful staff. Lots of vegetarian options and the staff were really kind to open the side doors so we could bring our pushchair in. They also surprised us with a special dessert and candles as we were celebrating, which was a very thoughtful touch. Staff are super kid friendly. Only thing which could be improved upon is if they had baby changing facilities.

What a lovely restaurant, located beautifully with outdoor area for dining in summer. The food was outstanding, fresh, piping hot and absolutely delicious. I have visited plenty of Thai restaurants but this is far my most favourite. It was my partners birthday too and a lovely complimentary birthday dessert was provided - thank you so much for that. I would definitely be visiting again.

Beautiful decor, brilliant service and outstanding Thai food,

I would avoid this place the service was shocking as soon as we got in the restaurant we were given the Thai menu not asked what cuisine would prefer. On arrival of the starters the meat was dry and burnt. When the mains come out the same thing the meat being dry and the dish being spicy after I asked for the waiter to ask the kitchen chef for the dish to be toned down in spice. We didn't eat anything for that reason and we left. Be mindful that parking lot is very small just enough cars for 7/8 cars max.

This place was nice. Efficient service, nice menu and good food. Prawns weren’t overcooked and the curries were tasty. Overall a nice experience. The decor cool was interesting and felt more like an 70s inspired bar. The spa music was not really suitable. I think if you are gonna have such a groovy decor, you better match it with a groovy sound track. Why not try the Buddha Bar lounge music?

We had an absolutely lovely meal here. Since coming back from our honeymoon in Thailand we've been on the search for an excellent Thai and this is it. My only feedback is that all the desserts were western (strawberry cheesecake, banoffee etc). It would have been lovely to finish our meal with some mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream 🙂

Food was lovely, service was attentive but slightly forced at times. 2 hour table slot is ok but a bit more warning of timing would have been nice. Moved to the lounge area and was then left alone. Missed drinks sales!

We’ve had many takeaways and have dined in a couple of times. The food is always delicious and the service excellent. If you like Thai food the Blue Orchid is well worth a visit.

A Mothers Day celebration was spoilt by poor timings and service A party of 9 arrive 1645pm some time to get drinks Starters arrived hour quarter after placing order 615pm and then we have to chase a second course and main course that finally arrive...

The food was great, lovely taste and very well presented. lovely place with lovely decor. The service wasn't great though unfortunately, 7 people rammed on a 6 person table even though I booked over a week before. No ones food came out at the same time all with delays, half meals came out without the other half.

Always busy which is the sign of a great restaurant we were there for our wedding anniversary. The soft shelled crab is exquisite. Great night out.
