Blue Note Cafe in Mendip

This is our favourite place to eat. The food is really super ,and the cook really cares that you enjoy it. The best potato wedges in the world ! Generous portions of everything. A seating area in the courtyard where you can enjoy watching the splendid selection of people to be seen in Glastonbury town. As visitors its always a big part of our Glastonbury experience.

We popped in for lunch and had potato and leak soup. The quality of the food and service were excellent.

First of all the tattooed barista deserves a raise! Her coffee skills are second to none and her customer service exceptional!!! She brought the life and soul to the cafe on a very busy period!! She sold us the specials which were very under priced for the obviously local quality. This girl is the reason to come for coffee in Glastonbury

Local man decided to start using this as breakfast spot, only to be snapped at by the owner. Thought oh perhaps just a bad day, then it kept on happening to me and not other customers. Wish I knew what it was and not have to write this. A sad experience!

What a lovely place to eat. Friendly staff and the food was exceptional, and its dog-friendly inside and out too... and we had three with us !! We opted for the halloumi salad, and a side of cheesy chips each and though we were hungry I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs !! The various homemade salads were amazing, I especially liked the potato salad, and the various pasta salads. The halloumi was cooked to 'melt-in-your-mouth' perfection. Nowadays its hard to find a good vegetarian meal. let alone an exceptional one but this definitely fell in to to exceptional category. We will be telling all out friends and family about you !! Definitely recommend.

Amazing lunch, I'm not a big salad fan but the houmous one was amazing as you can see by the picture, the best I've ever had. The energy and positive vibe of the staff though makes this place next level, their customer service was exceptional but I was smiling listening to them how they greeted other customers whilst I was eating my food outside in a great surrounding. Their positive vibe and attitude is infectious, really stand out and a joy to behold. If ever I return to Glastonbury I'd have no hesitation in going back there, it is fully deserving of a five star review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I live part time in Glastonbury and love this cafe, it also has a lovely outside area too in the Glastonbury experience courtyard. The staff are friendly and the food snd coffees are excellent. Love it here

Best cafe in Glastonbury! The staff are so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. Me and my partner was a bit late for breakfast but the staff was more than happy to make us something off the breakfast menu. Very friendly place and you get a warm feeling when spending your time in there. Food is very fresh and tasty and the coffee is really good.

Popped in for what I expected would be just a regular 'nothing special' cafe lunch to get out of the cold wind and a quick bite to eat whilst shopping. Was blown away by how amazing the food was. The vegetarian lasagne was honestly the best I have ever had, amazingly tasty. We also had the Jackfruit wraps and a Mac and cheese and it was all beautifully presented and lovely. The staff were so welcoming and super friendly. Will definitely make sure we visit again the next time we are in Glastobury.

I visited last week and was appalled by the service. I asked for a wet latte and was served what I can only describe as a cappuccino. After I asked for it to be remade the loud girl behind the bar (didn’t catch her name but was petite with tattoos) aggressively told me my drink was made how it should be. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for my drink to be made exactly how I like. Will not be returning and I’d advise anyone else to use one of the many other cafes in the area

We have been coming to Blue Note at least for 20 years, it does not disappoint! It has changed hand few times - but staff is always pleasant and accommodating. Good coffee, clean and fair priced - That's all we need! Thank you :)

The first thing I noticed was how kind , helpful and friendly the staff were. There was such a great choice of beverages and I can highly recommend the Mince Pies! Good location.

What a great vegetarian cafe The Blue Note is! A wide selection of food and drink is available and the atmosphere is great with paintings of musicians on the walls. Nice central location the high street. Highly recommended.

I went to The Blue Note Cafe as a vegan and I was told that the menu is 80% vegetarian. I then asked what I could actually eat as this information did not seem to be forthcoming. Anything possibly vegan is cooked in the same frier as cheese.I was told jacket potato was my option but there was no chilli so there was no allowance for vegans, considering the cafe is vegetarian, and in 2020, I thought there may be something!The staff member was rude to me and gave me a sarcastic wave when I was walking by after leaving. I would not recommend even as a vegetarian as the menu is fairly boring fare and hasn't seemingly changed for twenty years.

We visit Glastonbury every year and we always visit The Blue Note Cafe. We visited for brunch today and really enjoyed the food and friendly clean environment Thank you we will return !

You can never go wrong here, it's a great place to grab lunch, always have good selection, food is good and portions generous. Lively atmosphere, they also have seating outside in a cute shopping arcade.

Nice ambiance. Clean and suitably distanced tables. Lovely lady serving tables. We only had eggs on toast but what we had was very nice.

The food was absolutely brilliant it had amazing flavour and a great selection. Staff were polite and the service was very quick, they weren’t overly friendly but were busy so rushing which we were fine with. COVID precautions weren’t in full force however which may bother some people for example the track and trace system didn’t seem closely monitored. But, I would highly recommend for a lunch in Glastonbury at a reasonable price!

Being a large family group of 6 in the current troubled times, we booked our table a day in advance. The friendly telephone service turned into a warm welcome when we arrived. Not a complicated menu, our group of both veggies, non veggies and picky kids found something tasty- despite some options having sold out. When it arrived, with a slice of Glastonbury charm, we were not disappointed. Thank you and we'll be back.

The Blue Note is okay if you like burgers and do not need gluten free, but we are neither and so stick to the drinks and the odd treat. They do an excellent range of juices, but the best treat of all is their hot chocolate!

Someone really needs to open a Vegan restaurant in Glastonbury. To a vegan, vegetarians are just as spiritually bankrupt as meat-eaters, because all dairy cows have their throats cut and their bodies hacked to pieces to make burgers. Am I digressing? Am I on topic? Yes - I will elaborate.

Omg got recommended to go to the Blue Note Cafe while in Glastonbury and to get a hot chocolate. It was amazing I ordered the hazelnut one and omg I could of died and gone heaven. It was delicious

Out of all the places in Glastonbury, this place is currently offering some of the best coffee right now. They have some standard plant milk options like oat and almond from memory and they had a quick efficient service. Food wise, there seemed to be very little on offer if you're looking for plant based, but it looked as though people were enjoying themselves. Outside space is pretty chilled, a nice little courtyard out the back with a great vibe.

I live in Glastonbury so I tend to pop in here a lot. It's a regular pitstop for me when I'm in the centre of town. The coffee's good, the food's great and the staff are really lovely. Well worth a visit.

Word of caution if going here for lunch, don't have the soup unless you want third degree burns all over your lips and tongue, because its served so scalding hot that the first tentative sip to test how hot it was, stuck to my lips and mouth due to the heat burning the top layer of skin straight off in the roof of my mouth and resulted massive blisters on my lips and tongue. They gave me my money back but I wont be able to eat anything for a few days, because my mouth was is too painful

Went to blue note for some lunch and was very nice indeed. My dad and I both had the schnitzel burger and it was fantastic! Great flavours. It can be a little hit and miss here as I’ve experienced in the past but everyone has there off days. Good value for money too.

We dropped in the Blue Note on the recommendation of Glastonbury veteran friends, intending on a light lunch. We had two salads - falafel and another I don't recall, with a side of chips, and I also had the soup of the day. In truth the salads alone would have been enough, and were very generously proportioned. The food is excellent, and with the cafe having a licence, you can get a decent beer or wine to accompany it. We would certainly go back, either after a smaller breakfast, or a longer pause since breakfast...or both!

Loved the place, people very friendly, I really had a big and warm Veg Breakfast and more important for me, it's pet-friendly, so it means I can stay inside with my paw friends enjoying a good and relaxed place. Take you so much to the owners to create such a good place, will recommend.Adorei o Espaço, as pessoas muito simpaticas, comi um grande e acolhedor Pequeno Almoço Vegetariano, e para mim o mais importante era pet friendly, nem os patudos nem eu ficamos de fora e podemos apreciar um espaço relaxado e acolhedor. I am not a great vegetarian eater, but I like the look of this place as it’s always busy. Three of us had the falafel salad plate, good falafel, great hummus but the salads were a bit off great. The couscous salad was dry and tasteless, the green salad fine, the pasta salad was tasteless, as were the cold potatoes. Fortunately my wife had slipped in a plate of chips in the order, and they were ace. No gold star

first went into the Blue Note - 2000. Been every visit since - great place to meet up when taking a party around the town.

If you want a really good lunch try Tracey' s 'Moroccan Spiced Pie', it's full of flavour, best veggie meal I've had !!!......and the coffee's great too. The staff are very friendly and laid back, very Glastonbury.

Veggie burgers were like those tinned Goblin burgers of the 1970s in a soggy bun, tasteless cheese, and non existent salad. Not cheap, people smoking at tables in courtyard so smoke blows accross your table as you eat. Avoid.

Visited this place, just for an afternoon tea and cake. The cake was very nice and we didn’t have to wait long, but the cups were extremely dirty and so was the water jug. Put me off. Wouldn’t go back. Sorry.

I wouldn’t recommend this place, the food was really rubbish. The friendly staff and nice terrace were the only positives. Probably the worst veggie burger I’ve ever had - soggy flavourless patty, cheap horrible salsa from a packet (not made fresh), the cheese was a handful of grated cheese from a packet not even melted, and a soggy white bap. Really disappointing as I’m vegetarian and know how delicious a well made veggie burger can be. There must be better cafes for food in Glastonbury but sadly I didn’t get a chance to try them!

I am not usually someone who heads for a Vegan place to eat but we fancied a change. I had a great baked potato with veggie chili and cheddar. Really nice with the Orchard Pig cider in the courtyard. We will return the next time we are in town.

Stopped of with family, enjoyed a very pleasant lunch. Seems popular as the restaurant was full by 1pm. My son and partner enjoyed the Jamie burger, I opted for the falafel salad, nice sized portions and very tasty. Service was good, staff were attentive and efficient. From ordering to receiving our food was about 15mins, waitress served the food with a smile and couldn't have been more helpful in asking if we required anything else. Enjoyable lunch was had. Prices were reasonable, seems popular with tourists and locals.

Nice cafe for coffee or a lunch right in the centre of Glastonbury - maybe not so eclectic as some in town, but a good atmosphere.

Not much else to say about my experience here, bad coffee and stale cake. No soy milk available (no non dairy milk at all!!) so not a great start. Cake had clearly been bought/made a day or so previous to my visit and left to stand and go dry. I would have taken it back to exchange it for another piece, but the service was so lackadaisical that we felt much the same and left them to it.

Food seems overpriced - small jacket potato and beetroot - on a diet but they put butter on it. Didn’t do anything about it when I explained. Staff either very new and out of their depth or disinterested and not keen to please.

We stopped in here for a sumptuous breakfast. Everything was delicious, especially the Orange Hot Chocolate! Be sure to go out onto the back patio as it is a magical oasis. If the weather is nice, eat out there. It opens up to several shops as well as the Glastonbury Goddess Temple. Great eatery!

We were impressed when the food initially came out and for what it was, it was actually quite nice. We didn't realise that the majority of what we'd ordered was deep fried though. The sharing platter could have done with a sauce other than mayo to make it a bit more interesting. The staff were great - really friendly and very accommodating.

I have been a huge fan, bordering on religious, of the blue note schnitzel burgers for over 20 years (im only 32) but I was very disappointed today as I rung ahead to find out when they were serving until, and was told 4pm. I drove up from where I live but was turned away, as the cafe was closed at 3.45, full of people, and the exasperated looking lad who is usually behind the counter explained they were so behind, the owner chose to close it! I often come in, and they are usually happy to tell me how long the wait on food is if its busy. not today.

Fantastic food and atmosphere.... Plenty of tasty food choices and the youngest one loved the special hot chocolate.... Definitely worth a visit...

Went here to catch up with some friends for breakfast while we were visiting Glastonbury. They had a full vegetarian breakfast, but adapted it for me by removing the egg and adding another food item of my choice (mushrooms). Really enjoyed my breakfast and it set me up for a climb up the Tor. Cafe was really busy which is a good sign and we went back later in the day for dinner.

Im a veggie and the only thing i miss is burgers. The jamie veggie burger was so good it made me weep. Lucian

Our first visit to Glastonbury and chose The Blue Note from all the other independent cafes for some lunch after a long drive. The cafe was not particularly busy as several free tables.

I visited this cafe on the 20/3/19 with a individual I was supporting. I had visited the same cafe in February and asked the assistant if they could hand blend one of there meals for the individual i was supporting and they said not a problem. But when I went in on the 20/3/19 with the same individual and the same chef that was on in Febuary just shook his head and said no. Hope there happy with discriminating against someone with a learning disability and eatting disorder i shall be spreading the word to other friends in other care providers to avoid the "BLUE NOTE" completely.

This place was perfect, we sat in a little courtyard out the back as the weather was gorgeous. The food was fresh and finger licking good. If ever I'm back in Glastonbury, I'm definitely going vegetarian again 👍

I took my daughter here for a cuppa and a cake. I have been to this cafe many times before and enjoy sitting in the courtyard. I went to the counter and was trying to see if there was a menu or a list of drinks. The bar man said "we don't do bacon sandwiches you know". I said that I did know and asked him why he thought I wanted a bacon sandwich. He said I "looked the type"...! I ordered a hot chocolate for my daughter and a drink for myself and asked about a chocolate slice. He said "you won't want it it's vegan". I told him that he'd got it wrong again and it wasn't even for me. I sat outside with my daughter and the food and drink was adequate (if expensive) but the experience was ruined for me by the snotty attitude of the ignorant bloke serving at the bar.

I have been going in the Blue Note for years and have always enjoyed the paintings of musicians on the walls. However when I went in a few days ago the paintings had all gone and the walls were bare. The food was as good as ever though!

We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The cafe seemed very pleasant with a nice atmosphere. We sat in the window, which was lovely. The food was really nice but a bit overpriced. When I pay over £7 for a burger I expect something on the side! Everything stated on the menu came inside the bun, so that was a little disappointing. No bad experiences with staff or cleanliness.

Step in for a coffee and a piece of their delicious cakes - you will definitely not be disappointed!

We stopped here for a quick drink on the way back to the tour bus. Had a hot chocolate that was huge! And had a lot of other things on top. Wasn’t expecting it that big for that price, so it was a nice surprise.

I have been going in this vegetarian cafe for about 20 years and I love it even though I am not vegetarian. The food is excellent and there is always a good atmosphere. The place is adorned with paintings of jazz, blues and rock musicians which are on sale so are always changing. The range of food available is great, something for everyone. Do check it out.

I was reassured to read so many other reviews referring to rude staff as that was my experience. Everything I tried to order was met with a sneering, "nah none of that mate" by the skinny hippy behind the counter. He didn't consider suggesting something else or telling me what they do have. Only when I'd been given two mediocre drinks did he shout at my turning-back, "oh and drink up, I'm kicking you lot out in ten minutes".

Totally surprised by recent poor reviews - our experience was completely different.....can not fault the place.
