Blue Lagoon in Glasgow City

Very friendly staff; if I ran a business they are the kind of people I would want working for me. Nothing particularly healthy on the menu, but then you wouldn't expect that. I had curry and chips on both our visits, and enjoyed them. My wife had a burger and on the second occasion black pudding and enjoyed both. Very generous portions.

Wow amazing gluten free fish chips, I had one fish and peas my friend has one fish chips and mushy peas, mine came with a side salad, they gave us separate vinegar and condiments

Food was perfect and Yvonne was a gem who couldn’t do enough. The restaurant was immaculately presented. We will be back to try the deep fried mars bars before our flight home.

Chips were cold told them no refund left them the tea has grease floating on top of cup did replace the tea but the whole experience was poor as a pensioner I cannot afford to waste money like that 2 small plates of chips 2 mugs of tea nearly £14 total waste of money

The staff are friendly and the food is good. Reasonable prices and a good variety to choose from. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lovely friendly staff. Nice welcoming atmosphere. Great service will definitely visit again. Got really busy just after 6 both eating in and carry out definitely a good recommendation on it's own

Worst ever seevice at blue lagoon next to glasgow central. Arrived at 2.55pm , ordered food promptly, 2.25pm enquired with waiter how much longer for our food and told 1 minute. Another 10 mins later i had to go find waiter again 1 minute was reply. Then he comes over to table to say another 5/10 mins as it takes long time to cook - 2 chicken n chips was our order. At this point we cancelled order as we wouldnt have time to eat as we were traveling. Waiter then asked what about paying for your drinks - a tea and a fizzy drink. I refused stating should b complimentary after all the waiting. Never again will i go back as this was 2nd visit and the first was only slightly better

Really small and cramped and tends to be teeming with folk absolutely steaming. Kind of what you'd expect of a fast food establishment in the town, really. Food was okay, not the best, not the worst. Bit pricey for my liking. 15 quid for 2 sausage suppers and a can of irn bru. Perhaps i'm just remembering the old days fondly, but i remember 15 quid being able to feed a whole family at the chippy lol

Very bland anaemic chips and watery fish

My friend and I were in Glasgow on Saturday 27th January to see Strictly tour at the Hydro. Chose to have our meal at The Blue Lagoon. Shown to our table at the window by a friendly waitress. window table was great as we like to people watch !! Very good menu and value for money. We both chose the battered Fish and Chips with bread and butter and a drink for £11.50. very good value. Food was delicious and staff always attentive and making sure everything was ok. Very clean restaurant. Will be back.

We were in Glasgow to see the strictly tour. Chose to go to the Blue Lagoon on Renfield Street at 5 ish for a meal before hand Welcomed by friendly staff and shown to our seat. Very nice place, clean and good atmosphere. We were seated at the window which was great as we like to people watch ! 🤣 We had the fish deal which was battered fish and chips, bread and butter and a drink for £11.50. Very reasonable. Fish and chips were delicious. Staff always attentive and making sure everything was okay. We will be back in May when we are in Glasgow to see Michael McIntyre.

Staying in Glasgow for a few days,thought I would try it beautifully cooked chips an nice crunchy batter on the fish can't fault it

Got a sausage supper and curry after a night out and I ended up dropping a sausage went back and told them and they gave me another one for free 😌 funny n lovely service xxxx + they gave me a pickled onion for free, extra points

This Blue Lagoon Fish and Chip shop was very quiet early on a Friday evening. Service was a bit messy but improved by the time the food arrived. Lovely tasting fish but the chips a bit pale looking and not very tasty. Included a slice of bread and butter and a drink. On the whole the meal was enjoyable and good value. Shall go again.

Went in here for a quick bite to eat. When the food came I actually felt sick. The gravy that was covering the chips was absolutely awful. The tomato sauce that I tried to put on my chips was so watered down it came out nearly waterly pinkish and had to squeeze the bottle for a long time to get some on the plate. The drink that I had ordered came with a half glass of ice, wtf its winter! I wasn't even asked if I wanted ice. Shop was cold as well. Won't be back.

Love this place! They are one of the only chip shops that do mac n cheese. Their chips are great and not too expensive. Best chip shop in Glasgow.

Gluten free fish supper is the best ever. Battered Haggis (not GF) is also not to be missed.

I have now visited twice for a quick fish supper on both occasions the food served has been at best lukewarm! I don’t understand a restaurant when it’s very quiet the inability to cook fresh & hot! Maybe that’s why it’s an empty fish restaurant on a Wednesday Night

Cooked in heavily reused oil (black residue visible). Taste of old oil in every bite. Chips were ok. Fish was good.

Took my granddaughter there after telling her how good a chippy the Blue Lagoon is we bought chips cheese and curry half pizza crunch and a black pudding The chips were warm at best a light layer of cheese and curry sauce over the chips in a corner of the tub thr pizza crunch was hot as we waited for that the black pudding obviously had been lying for ages was cold and honestly disgusting. To say it was disappointing is an absolute understatement and it cost 19.95 so not cheap either won't be back

Restaurant à fuir si vous souhaitez bien manger ! Nous y sommes allez avec des amis et aucun de nous n’a été satisfait. Les frites sont juste horrible et équivaut à boire une cuillère d’huile d’olive. En ce qui concerne la viande elle est sans goût. Je me suis demandé à un moment si c’était même comestible… Pour info ça ne vaut même pas 1 étoile mais je ne pouvais pas sélectionner 0.

Visited recently and got quite a disappointing Fish Supper. Blue Lagoon is usually pretty reliable for a good supper, but that last one really wasn't.

Had a lovely breakfast. Food was hot and tasty. Absolutely lovely staff.

Firstly, the decor of the restaurant is great. That's what drew us in. But the food was very average and the service haphazard. Fish was nice, chips were greasy and on the cold side. Mushy peas tasted like they were out of a tin. When ordering, my cold drink came first, then had to chase my partners hot drink ten minutes later... .only to find waitress had just brought a mug of hot water....no tea bag. Had to get up again to ask for a teabag. When the food came, we had no cutlery. I had to get up and fetch this myself. I had ordered tartar sauce, this did not arrive with the meal, had to ask again. The Asian waitress then proceeded to pour a catering size bottle into a ramekin right in front of us-this looked so cheap and nasty!!! Very poor experience, would not go back.

Great traditional chippy. As it’s Scotland, you can get anything battered. I had a fish supper and my husband was thrilled to get vegetarian sausage battered.

Stopped by in early October. I had not had Blue Lagoon since around 2014 and this year when i went back to the UK and had some i was so stunned. Nothing was the same, not sure if they got bought out or had a change of management but the quality of the fish and chips is totally different and not what i remember. Very oily fish and stale chips.

Really nice place. Nicolle was really friendly, very informative and accommodating to a tired traveler who had been travelling all day. The food was tasty and plentiful. Next time I am back in Glasgow this will be my first stop of the train.

We just had the worst experience again at Blue Lagoon. They have vegan options on their menu but they can't actually deliver this. Do not waste your time. Told to wait for twenty minutes to cook the sausages on the menu and then forgot that...

Brought back memories from years ago getting a fish supper from the blue lagoon fab/fresh/tasty and plenty of it .. Staff made us feel welcome and couldn't b more helpful, will b returning soon . Price bril £10.50 for fish supper/bread and tea or coffee .. a bargain lunch ..

Food was absolutely amazing. Best fishcakes I've ever had, the deep fried Mars bar with ice cream was so delicious. Service was very polite and quite quick.

Great fish and chips great service

We were delayed for the train to England and felt for fish and chips!! Food was hot and the fried Mars bar with ice cream and raspberry sauce was a winner !

Despite some bad reviews, we decided to give it a go as it looked quite nice. They had an option for halal fish which they fried fresh in separate oil which was fantastic. The restaurant ambiance was lovely and the service was great too. Thought it was reasonably priced. The fish was fantastic, very light batter, not too greasy. Only thing that could be improved was the bread they offered was literally a slice of bread, would’ve expected a bread roll but not sure if that’s traditional. All in all was a great experience. Will definitely be visiting again!

The Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips in Argyle Street is an iconic fish and chips restaurant that serves high-quality food. I liked that there was the option of either taking the food out or eating inside. The tables were very clean and I've not had anything that matches the flavour of what Blue Lagoon offers. It is right next door to Glasgow Central Station and it's easy to get to through the downstairs section where the trains serve the Lanarkshire area. I've visited this place a few times and I've always been impressed. It does get a bit cold now and again but it's a lovely place to go to.

Vegan and Halal options on the menu, however when asked, they said they fry their food in beef dripping! Not too sure how this is allowed

Stopped off to get a battered mars bar on the way to the train station the staff we’re friendly fast and the battered mars bar was demolished on the way home on the train! Would definitely return!

As Canadians we visited this fish and chip place in Glasgow. Best by far and we have been to quite a few in Manchester and Scotland. So far Blue Lagoon is the best!

Absolutely 💯% best fish tea I've had in a long time .it was so fresh and the batter was golden and crispy .we went at lunch time .the staff all have a friendly smile on their and happy to help whenever you require anything. Me and my daughter will be visiting again

The Blue Lagoon has always had a bit of a reputation in Glasgow but was very surprised when visiting yesterday. Got special fish tea - freshly made and piping hot. Delicious! Probably the downsides are the use of plastic plates and the garish lighting

Fish was very dry an greasy. Chips were soggy.. ended up throwing the whole thing away.. on top of it sauces are extra. Place is very dark and stuff is not friendly. Don’t recommend it!!

One of the worst chippies in Glasgow. Only reason to go there is if you are pissed after the pub. Got food poisoning from a sausage supper. Hard chips that felt like they had been laying for a while. This one is still open because of the location. If you're going to go to a blue lagoon, don't go to this one. There are others within walking distance that at least meet the standards of your average chippy.

I’ve been visiting this restaurant for a few years now with friends, it is absolutely amazing! The food is so delicious that today I managed to finish my sausages within five minutes! The staff are friendly, the decorations and designs are beautiful, and the service is competent and patient. Overall, I give this restraint a ten out of ten, and recommend that people atleast visit the restraint once if they get the chance!

Having stopped in Glasgow, just after a train from London, we called at the shop beside the train station inself. Best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Honestly a must try!!!

Went into this chip shop on a visit to Glasgow on Friday Craig cooked my fish beautifully along with chips was served by Josh who went over and beyond to make sure we had everything we could have possibly wanted and last but not least Yvonne who welcomed us and was so thankful for the remarks I made about the cleanliness of the toilets and how much we enjoyed our meal and were made to feel like VIPs so once again thank you so much for the great treatment and great food and service .

Really poor food, used to be a great chippy when I was younger. I suspect they are buying cheaper fish and oil for the fryers. Took my family there on Monday, we left 90% of the food and went elsewhere.

Didn't realise it had changed hands and was now a lagoon franchise. Guys don't know what they are doing. Some really old potatoes clearly not tossed away and just used anyway. Mushy sweet texture. The fish - batter mix ratio not correct so it was mushy and slid off. Dont mind a salty chippy but this was wild. Had to also turn the box sideways to pour out the vinegar. Nice try lads but it's clearly your first attempt at a chip shop and all the basics were missed.

The blue lagoon is a great place for fish and chips but it's a great disappointment that you can't get mince pies anymore. I can't understand why it was stopped, please bring the pies back.

Great customer service and I liked the ambience of the resto. The Mozzarella bites were much better than the fish and chips and I would recommend trying different food items rather than just going for fish and chips which I didn't like that much. They have different rates for sitting-in and takeaway. The customer service is great and the washrooms were super clean. Thanks again for the good service.

Great place to eat proper, chip shop food. Love the rumble of the trains to add to the atmosphere! My husband and I have visited on a number of occasions when back in Glasgow to visit family and food has been excellent every time! Today, we thoroughly enjoyed our haggis and pudding suppers and the great service from Amy just topped everything off! We will be back! Thank you and well done to all the team.

Die Portion Fish an Chips war ordentlich groß. Es ist halt ein "Burgerladen" das Brot ist ungetoasted Toast und die Karte ist übersichtlich. Vor bzw. Neben dem Laden war abends die essensausgabe für Bedürftige Menschen. Für sensible Menschen ist es vielleicht ein Hemmnis dann in den Ladenteil zu gehen. Die Bedienungen war sehr freundlich und in Ordnung. Die Tische waren sauber und es hat alles einen ordentlichen Eindruck gemacht. Auch kam das Essen flott.
