Came here after watching racing at Donnington Park. It was fish night and the fish and chips was delicious. Friendly staff and service with a smile. Would definitely recommend :)

The dining room behind one of the two bars was set with tables in an L shape to seat our group of twelve diners. This did mean we had to pass meals on to each other, but this did not present any problem. Service was provided with a smile throughout. Delicious starters, thank you. Wonderful lemon sorbet to follow. Tremendous main course with at least six vegetables and more. Plates were very hot and rather small but a lovely meal was provided nevertheless. Desserts were carefully served with coffee to follow. A small board boasts the provision of other meals which are available at lunchtimes throughout the week, including Sunday. Several special beers and a few specialty spirits are available alongside regular items at the bar. This venue provides a range of facilities for the public; evidently there was good fun throughout the bars, which were quite noisy during our time there. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Visited last night on a whim and had a bit of a wait because the place was full. Once seated the staff were very attentive ensuring our drinks came quickly and clearing our plates. Each time with a smile and checking we were happy. There was a huge choice of dishes and they were kept well stocked. There's nothing worse than wanting a particular dish for it to have run out and not restocked and that didn't happen. There is no shortage of what I would call the premium dishes, such as lamb and king prawns and everything was high quality. We have visited several times and despite eating many dishes, I still haven't managed to try half of them. Place seems very well run with plenty of staff all working hard.

Good music and good value drinks. Have not been for a very long time and it has changed since I last went (no longer serves food and more open plan than it was). Won't leave it as long until I next go,

It was in 1979 as a 18yr old I and the youth of the day use to call into this wonderful propper café. The days of Anti pasti the punk band of derby who use to hang out on old derby Market place along with all the other people who use to call and eat or just drink the really good coffee and tea that use to be served here . I became homeless at around 20 yrs of age and every Thursday for reasons I'm still not sure of I use to always call into the Acropolis for either breakfast or a really hearty afternoon meal . It is such a shame to hear that the place has closed down. Another sad blow to derby I am sad to say . I can honestly say that the my memories of the place and the staff who worked there is one of gratefulness. The place literally kept me alive at a very dark period of my life . The food was brilliant and plentiful. Not sure if anyone who owned the place back then or who worked there back in the late 70s will read this but the Acropolis cafe saved my life . Sounds a bit odd I know but trust me to be able to have a lovely hot meal at affordable prices and a hot drink saved my life . Thank you all at Acropolis. That café has always always and will always hold a special place in my Heart 💙 . Such a loss . Thank you Barry . Xx

Surprised there aren't more reviews for this 'proper' cafe. Lots of simple, but filling choices - the usuals on toast, chip cobs, sandwiches, full meals etc - for excellent value prices. Fed 2 hungry kids and myself with drinks with change from £10 - try and do that elsewhere! Service was efficient, food arrived quickly. It tasted great and with good portion sizes. Just what was required!
