Block in North Devon

Well worth the drive from Yorkshire, staff were great, the foods a delight, a must if you're around Barnstaple.

We thoroughly enjoyed it what more can I say.😊

Wow…….what a find. We chanced upon Block after a trip to the cinema, and I’m so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were a delight. It felt like a trip into Camden, with all the great smells and tastes of an international menu. Can’t recommend Block highly enough

We love this place, always go when we are down in Devon, food is immense, great atmosphere and good coffee too. They always accommodate our two border terriers.

Bit chilly down the end, but cosy blankets provided. Food great, even for group members with special diet requirement. Staff service excellent. Nice to see kitchen and cooking happening, really shows they have nothing to hide. Great place.

Incredible food. Went for the first time today after drooling over the menu for a while. Staff friendly, efficient, and made sure we were OK. It is more expensive than other local places, but that is 100% reflected in the quality of the food. Happy tummies all round!

We went to the Barnstaple branch. Top notch food and very friendly service. We had the English breakfast with oki and it was 11/10. Everything was cooked to perfection. Coffee was also fantastic. You need to make a reservation for Saturdays and get there early-ish in my opinion.

Five of us dined here in the evening and words cannot describe how thrilled we all were to find this gem in Barnstaple. The menu was amazing and we all struggled to choose as we wanted everything. What we did order did not disappoint. If you are looking for an authentic meal, all freshly made, with incredible flavours Block will not disappoint. Cannot recommend eating here highly enough.

Beautiful anniversary dinner at Block. We shared the Korean burger and the Barbacoa brisket, both totally delicious. We loved the fries and salads too.

I finally managed to get a table today and it was definitely worth it. I've seen lots of write ups all over social media, all good. The food was absolutely amazing right up my street. Healthy and a great taste. My daughter had the block burger, it was the best she had had for a very long time. The chips had a seasoning on and they were delicious. I had the chicken shawarma which was chargrilled spiced Lebanese chicken in a beautiful light baked flat bread, which was huge. The salad was lovely and fresh. Busy small clean restaurant with very friendly staff. I will definitely be going back.

Searching for breakfast on a recent trip to North Devon we came across this little gem in Barnstaple. We gobbled it all up before thinking to take any pictures but I had the Menemen with chorizo and the other half had waffles with bacon, egg and maple syrup:- both were fresh and really tasty. We went back for more on our last day but they were unfortunately closed so check opening times beforehand.

In the area on holiday and we wanted something easy for dinner so we found Block online and I'm so glad we did. I had the chicken burrito bowl and my husband had a schawarma and they were both absolutely delicious. Wish we were here longer to try some more of their menu. I always have the veggie burger - the seitan one I think it is. The food is good and clean! It’s always consistently good either. I haven’t eaten in yet, but definitely would do. Highly recommend, especially if you’re trying to be healthy or are a veggie. So good!!

What a find. Happened upon this place today. The aromas were amazing as we opened the doors. The staff were brilliant we hadn’t booked and did all they could to fit us in and we are so glad they did. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, each plate delivered to every table looked delicious and our orders were so tasty. This place is faultless, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and our kids loved it too. Only downside is we live too far for deliveries! We’ll be back.

I don’t know where to begin with how amazing block is ! I’m a Full English connoisseur and have travelled far and wide to find the best breakfast the planet has to offer … too my Amazement it was a five minute walk away. Terrific local produce cooked and seasoned to perfection, service with a smile and always friendly even when it is full to the brim … which it usually is. Don’t even bother going anywhere else if you’re in Barnstaple area I assure you there is zero competition !!

Shocking experience here after we asked nicely if we can move to another table. We are on a table of four and we just ask to move by the corner for more private space. They said four people have made reservations too. I said I’m not comfortable as people passing by behind me and next to me is the coffee machine area where staff is banging the used coffee. I felt like a child that I’m not allowed to move and questioning me how come I feel uncomfortable. I feel awful. It’s just so disrespectful. Won’t recommend this place anymore.

Just discovered this amazing place to eat. The food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, beautifully presented and imaginative. I had a main of Chicken teriyaki with sticky rice and kimchini balls to start. The flavour and aroma of the dishes was amazing. The staff were very friendly and had good knowledge of the dishes (which was really helpful when trying to choose what great food they had on offer) and all washed down with some very nice beer too. I throughly recommend as we will most definitely be returning!

We came for coffee in the morning, had a browse of the menu and came back for lunch. Safe to say we weren't disappointed. The food was fantastic, very reasonably priced, great presentation, great flavour, staff were very attentive. We would have liked the option of chopsticks, but didn't affect our experience at all.

A friend took me here. It is a hidden gem of Barnstaple. Amazing coffee, tasty treats and very accommodating and friendly staff.

Perfect takeaway, easy to use website, friendly helpful staff, fantastic tasty food and a great variety, stayed in barnstaple for a week and ordered takeaways from block twice. They have come up with a neat idea here. In a area which won't support a Mexican restaurant, or a Japanese Restaurant or whatever, simply mix them all together in one place. Once you've got the idea it's a case of making the food match the concept and the food we had was great. Easily the biggest variety of anywhere we ate in Devon.Service was engagingly idiosyncratic, and I wouldn't want to eat here in a hurry - ironic given that we were told that we could only have a table for an hour when booking, though happily they didn't hold us to it.

We have been getting takeaway from Block for about 3 months now and I can honestly say that absolutely everything on the menu is a 10/10. Tons of variety on the menus too, from Ramen to burgers to bibimbap.I highly recommend ordering something different each time so you get the full experience.

We decided to celebrate the end of our holiday with a family takeaway from Block, and couldn't fault it. I had the Bibimbap which was absolutely delicious - just the right level of spice, capped with a perfectly fried egg. We had bits of everything from the menu - mac and cheese in various forms, gyoza, and the kids had katsu with chips. All the food was served to us bang on-time, and piping hot for us to devour on our return to our cottage nearby. Will definitely visit again on our yearly visit to the area.

We ate here when we visited Devon last year and liked it so much we had to return this time. A good choice of food from a variety of cuisines. Our food was really delicious - the chicken shawarma and burrito bowl were favourites!!

Having eaten here and got take away several times during lockdown I would highly recommend. Food was delicious and different to other restaurants in Barnstaple. Friendly staff and lovely querky restaurant.

This is my 3rd order from Block and it won’t be my last! Absolutely beautiful flavourful fresh food, great value for money and quick efficient service.

We had a rare evening off from the children so decided to treat ourselves. We’d always been intrigued by Block but never ordered. I am so glad we took the chance!!! My husband ordered a pork and a chicken bao bun, and pulled pork dirty fries ( and I think maybe this has always been my apprehension- could a place that did dirty fries and Mac’n’cheese also do gyoza and bao well?! - yes ) the Bao buns were delicious, everything you want them to be. The bun was light and fluffy and the filling was tasty and full of flavour. The dirty fries were apparently great, the fries remained crispy despite excellent amounts of topping! I had a chicken and a pork bao bun, normal fries (which were perfectly seasoned and crispy but not dry). I also had the duck gyoza. I always worry with gyoza - especially for takeaway that it will be soggy and limp. It wasn’t - it was light and crispy, the little pot of sauce was delicious and there was a slight spice somewhere which really added to it. It was perfect, I’m so angry we haven’t ordered from there sooner. Can’t wait to eat there again. Five huge, well deserved stars!!

We absolutely love Block as it is, but recently I have had to subtract many things from my diet, including tricky staple ingredients that are used in most meals. Block went above and beyond to make sure every aspect of my requirements were covered and my meal was just as amazing as usual. We cannot rate these guys enough, amazing quality, lovely people & our most favourite place to eat out! we can't wait to come and eat indoors soon. We have been fans of Block for sometime now but this was our first experience of the takeaway service Block are providing to support us through Lockdown.Great experience with two very tasty dishes ( Chicken and Chorizo Nachos & Korean Bibimbap) and the collection set up is so COVID compliant A big well done and thank you from usDavid & Carly

First time with their home delivery meal service. Meal arrived on time (actually it was slightly early), food was hot and both meals were excellent quality and really tasty. Will be using this service again.

Click and collect service chosen rather than delivery. Great friendly service and great new food choice for this area. Tasty and appropriately seasoned, and no next day aftertaste. Would use again, and certainly visit once restrictions lifted. They enjoyed the telephone feedback my wife gave them as well. Food itself is a cross section of Korean and Japanese cuisine. There are sides which we didn’t have this time but you could build a substantial meal if you choose to do so.

Hadnt realised that Block were doing takeaway, so have only just had our first one!It was AMAZING!!The chicken Schwarma wrap was delicious, as were the Gyoza and Bao. Service was great, very prompt. Wish I had ordered earlier to get delivery....Will definately be back.

Wow Block is awesome! Have been here a few times and can easily give it 5 stars. If I could I would give it 6, it is what Barnstaple has been waiting for. There's a refreshing modern, and healthy menu, really tasty. When I go out, I want to eat something that I can't get at home, and this is it. The décor and styling of this venue is really on point, really feels like you are in the city, not your usual Barnstaple café. The staff here and owners are really genuinely nice people, you can tell that they are really passionate about this venture. Its great to have such decent destinations like Block in Barnstaple to make a pop into town worth while. Just had a Block takeaway menu through the door so will be sampling that tomorrow. Thanks Block, keep up the great work! :D I usually go in with my kids and Block are very accommodating, the staff will go out of their way to make your experience a great one.

First takeaway during Lockdown 3 and won’t be ordering from anywhere again! Really tasty and reasonably priced, only disappointment was we didn’t order more from the menu!!
