Bloc in Glasgow City

Was in yesterday,place was full and buzin. Staff wer great,treated us like regulars(1st time from newcastle)burgers wer the best weve had in ages.frickles??? Mental.cant wait to come back and make a session.top drinks menu with Belgain beers.cheers

Visit at least once a week for lunch. Great selection of foods and beers (especially the vegan food).

One of favourite bars in the city for some good cheap grub, been several times and never been disappointed. Burgers, dogs, loaded fries, vegan versions of all in a unpretentious atmosphere, check it out.

Food is nice and lots of choices for gluten free but was really disappointed with the fact that there were no gluten free desserts as an option on the day even though they were on the menu.

Literally the number one place I head to with friends and family when I’m back, after 4 years not living in Glasgow. The English manager(?) guy is really lovely and the other staff too. Deals are banging and the peppercorn sauce is too good. It’s a real shame that there’s one female waiter who’s obviously had enough of the role. On this occasion when visiting with my partner decided to be really incredibly rude and accusatory when I had politely mentioned that my chicken was a bit tough. She walked away without replying then repeatedly told me there was nothing she could do and that I should have informed her sooner (I had only eaten a bite of it). I explained that it wasn’t a big deal, but that we didn’t have time for another to be made. She then smirked nearby avoiding us being able to ask for the bill. After 12 years in hospitality I totally understand the rage but it tends to be best to save it for rude customers who deserve it. It was all a bit embarrassing for her when she did eventually take the problem item off the bill. Again, such a shame to have one ignorant person spoil a gem, but if you can handle being spoken to nastily - the peppercorn sauce may be worth it.

One of the best places in Glasgow for vegan food, can't recommend enough

For an organisation which prides its self on inclusiveness and making everyone feel welcome. I was made to feel that I was nothing more than an annoyance by staff who seemed more interested in talking to their friends. I am someone who has enjoyed bloc in the past however this experience has made me think if I will be back in the organisation. Staff training is something which should be looked at as some staff could do with serious retraining. Only reason I have put 2 and 1 stars in service and atmosphere rating is because there was no option for no star rating or that is what I would have put as the service was that poor.

What do you get with £6 these days? I stake a fries with pepper sauce in this wonderful bistro I found on my trip to Glasgow. The best stake I’ve had in years!

Great night out. I actually enjoyed this place more than the other bars. Allot of space to dance, the drinks was well priced too. Music was great & DJ played songs to suit the people in the room. 👍I would recommend this place to my friends and would definitely come here the next time Im in Scotland. Thanks guys 😊

The food here is unique, reasonably priced and delicious. Vegan, GF, Veg all catered for. Good selection of beer/IPA too. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The decor is awesome 😎

The food was pretty good, but the service was very slow - the staff took a while to get round to taking our orders, and the food took even longer to come out. Still, nice vibe to the place in general and always good for a pint.

Just went for drinks and it's honestly become my new favourite spot in Glasgow. Friends got some food and they wouldn't stop raving about it!

Highly recommend the corn ribs and the sauce is great to dip your frickles in. Service is fantastic and the staff are helpful. The atmosphere is fun for a date night or meeting with friends.

I was looking for a place with vegan food and had a lovely surprise. I had a vegan hot dog for just £5, good options for beers, a great atmosphere with everyone dancing and laughing. The waiter is excellent; he talked to us three times. He's a very good guy. I hope I can come back someday to Bloc+.

Good food, good prices and a nice atmosphere. Just wish you were served a wee bit quicker, especially at lunchtime when time is tight.

I absolutely LOVE this place was here a few years ago and then could never remember how to get back decided to look it up on Google maps and went for lunch the food is just as good as I remember it and the atmosphere is still busy whilst chilled. Best place for affordable food. They have a great menu for both the meat lovers and the vegan lovers. Can't wait to get back to Glasgow again and hopefully get more people to try it out. Keep up the amazing work all at Bloc+

Steak Wednesday is insane. £5 for a sirloin steak, chips and peppercorn sauce.

Went a few weeks ago for dinner. Waited around 15 mins before our food order was taken (it wasn’t too busy). We made it quite obvious we were ready to order by placing our menus down in a pile, the usual restaurant etiquette, and tried to catch a member of staff’s attention, before having to explicitly ask to order food. The guy that served us was friendly, but not the best. We were a table of 4, and said he would remember our orders (burgers and chicken), and at the end said ‘ah wait I’ll need to get the ipad’. Not great. Food was decent enough. The thing that really put us off was the female server (dark hair, quite short), who really looked like she really couldn’t be arsed at all, no smile or friendliness and seemed really inconveniced to be honest, and practically chucked our food on the table. When we got the bill at the end, we asked for a couple of minutes to work out who owed what. We were busy chatting and she came back and said ‘have yous still not worked it out?!’ Totally snide. We were quite taken aback by her rudeness. Have been to Bloc loads times over the years, but the poor service on this occasion has lost our custom. Ashame, as I did really like this place.

If this wasnt a basement bar id have given it a 5⭐️ The service was spot on, atentive but not overbearing. The menu was creative instead of your run of the mill pub grub. Decenr beers and a few cocktails, the ones we had were nice. The food was really tasty, mac and cheese wasnt exactly creamy but it tasted good the bao buns and brisket were fantastic and the portions were on the big side, id happily come back for a few more beers and to try some other stuff off the menu

Person at the door only interested in women with short skirts. Refused entry to just order food saying ‘not tonight lads’ (myself snd one pal) and then immediately let a couple of young ladies in not 5 seconds later. At the mercy of the ego of the bouncer if you get the chance to try this place.

I don’t think I’ll be rushing back. We ordered two vegan fried “chicken” meals that are the Thursday special. They came and were real chicken. When we asked for it to be changed, the waiter was friendly and a bit apologetic but obviously there was no urgency on the fact they had given us the wrong food as we waited for the replacements for the same amount of time we did for the original meal. When the replacements came, it was obvious that fresh chips had not been made and had instead sat in the cold while the correct food was made. The girl that brought over the replacements was so rude as well, slammed the food on the table and didn’t bother asking if we wanted anything else. The seitan “chicken” was dry and chewy with little flavour. Overall, not very impressed and won’t be rushing back. Used to come here a lot but it’s gone downhill.

Went for lunch with friends. The food is really good, which is why we went. But the service is some of the most awful I’ve experienced. Non existent even though they tell you to sit down & they’ll come over. No one came to take our food order for 20 minutes & only did when I had to go to the bar to ask for a drink. We could see the staff members chatting to their friends instead or going outside for a vape while we sat there waiting for someone to come over for our order. One staff member was incredibly rude & sullen. Not friendly in any way, shape or form & treats you like an inconvenience. I really loved bloc in the past, the service & staff have always been friendly & great. But it’s far from that now. If it hadn’t been for the really nice food we’d have just left & went somewhere else because the attitude towards customers has become diabolical now. So sorry we interrupted your social event with your friends by wanting to come in for some lunch. How dare we.

Locale perfetto per noi italiani dato che la cucina rimane aperta anche sul tardi. Camerieri simpatici e gentili, posto non pulitissimo ma cibo buono. Direi un pub caratteristico giovanile dove passare una bella serata in amicizia. Hanno un menù identico al normale interamente per vegani. Ampia selezione di alcolici locali e molto economico.

Food absolutely delicious (I had the ‘Gochu-Gang’ chicken with tater tots), great drink selection, perfect music and vibes. Can’t wait to come back!

Visited here as a coupe. Pros. Food We ordered some loaded fries, burgers. Chicken. The food is good value in comparison to price. Cheap and cheerful. You get what you pay for. Burgers was over cooked and dry but for £5 I couldn’t complain. Negatives. I didn’t really like the staffs attitudes and mannerisms. We where greeted by a male with a full face of makeup dressed in a woman’s skirt with hairy legs. This made me feel awkward being around this person, it was basically a man in drag. He had a slight attitude in the way he spoke. It’s was a very awkward encounter.

Nice place, super nice food. Vegan options available and yummy. Only downside is that it’s quite loud inside so having a conversation is difficult.

Service was extremely slow, paying at bar was a chore, I think the waitress needs a calculator as she can't split a bill and has a bad attitude

I've drank here for a while now and always have a great time, but last night was hands down the best service I've ever received! The staff were just so helpful and accommodating and had great chat the entire night. The stand out was Ash the manager that was in that night, they were so friendly and gave me and my friends a great laugh through the night. Couldn't recommend a better bar in Glasgow!!

I went in for lunch last week. I spoke to one of the serving staff and was told to sit anywhere. I found a table and waited for someone to come over and take my order. After about 20 minutes no one had appeared so I went to.the bar to see if I was to order there I was told that someone would be over shortly and then I got my order taken. The Kentucky chicken was overcooked and dry but the chips were great. I then went to the bar and paid rather than hang around waiting for staff to give me my bill

Incredibly disappointing meal. We ordered online, for context. The Infamous Poutine was a pile of overcooked crunchy chips with lumps of cold cheddar on top - no sign of the peppercorn sauce, and so little Bloc sauce that, again, it was really just a portion of bad chips. The Dirty Burger was flavourless and very soggy, the bun soaked and spongy. They also forgot to include the drink we ordered. Far and away the worst food I've eaten in a while.

Food took 3 hours to be delivered, unacceptable. Once it finally arrived both of our meals were burned beyond recognition. Its insane that the restaurant somehow managed to send this food out of the kitchen.

Oh my I am so, so hungry. But Deliveroo beats you........... I'm sat in the corner waiting for my order, burger mmmmmmm. I have waited for at least 45mins watching the take aways being processed.

Tried the Come Dine With Me award winning Thai Me Up Hotdog. Whilst tasty I felt it was a complete rip off at £14 for the hotdog alone. Meaning hotdog and Poutine would be well over £20! The hotdog was a standard 6-7" hotdog on regular bum with some supernoodles and a sauce. Lacked the wow factor and felt a bit "that'll do" Would not try again as not worth the pricetag. Plant based wings were nice and Poutine decent but all in all it lacked that bit of special I'm afraid.

So HAPPY!!! Probably one of the best places to eat in Glasgow. Food is amazing and they do great deals through the week. Best wings ever! I'd recommend the Durty Burger

It's a bar with amazing food, innovative, amazing food. I loved it all but my favorite was the deep fried sticky toffee pudding. Yes, it was delicious

We had to wait a while for a table, but the food was excellent. Killer deal. We had the hamburger and the Korean chicken and our favorite was the deep fried sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and sauce. Oh my word! It's so so good. Such a unique twist!

Deal days are amazing value in this economic climate. Main menu is also good quality and tastey food too. Good place to drink and get a bite in Glasgows city centre.

Brilliant bar. The food is lovely and the desserts are AMAZING!!! The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Vegan menu is great and food also tasty. We had kids with us and this wasn't a problem. Recommend the sticky toffee biscoff. The best pudding ever and has it on the vegan menu too.

Visited after hearing about daily deal, and got a burger and chips for £4! Wasn’t expecting much for price, but was very impressed at the quality of the food. Extremely tasty, decent portion size and very friendly service. Added a few sides that were also well worth it. Served by a variety of staff and every single one were friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. Will 100% be back, well done Bloc!

One of the best fried chicken 🍗 I've tasted the world over. Very busy so it took a while to get served. The only thing letting them down is the toilet maintenance. Specifically not flushing.

Great find. Didn't mean to go here was looking around for somewhere to eat and came across this place after we had gone into "revolution de cuba" which my sister had booked for us and after looking at their menu we decided not to stay amd go somewhere else. There was 10 of us and Bloc+ had a couple of tables free so we all piled in 😆. No we did have 3 children with us so it was civilised. The menu had what we was looking for nice and prices were good and we all fancied eating in here. Me myself would 💯 % definitely recommend the "Send noodz" hot dog 🌭 absolutely loved it nice spicy kick to it and since we been back home which is less than a week I've asked my partner to make a home version of it twice 😋. The service was good we were altogether but we didn't order together so me and my partner ordered ours and the best part of 10 mins later the others ordered theirs and the problem i had was that we was on different tables next to each other and they brought everyone's food out at the same time. I wasn't happy about waiting the extra time for ours to be served but understand why they did it tho.

Brilliant bar for daytime food and drinks, late night music and dancing, friendly people great staff, good value in the city centre. Wonderfully welcoming to kids as well. Make sure and go here so we never lose it. A gem.

We was a walk in of 10 people and they managed to seat us all together. The food was lovely me and my partner ordered the hotdog which came with noodles which was really nice the rest of the party was a mixture of meat eaters and vegans and there was no complaints from anyone. Only thing I am gutted about is that there isn’t one in Manchester.

Fab place! Great food, drinks and service! As 3 flexitarians who try to eat meat free but have meat loving friends, the fact that this veggie/vegan menu is the same size as the meat menu is just amazing! Plus the burger ans sausage are of the moving mountains variety (the best) I can also recommend the limoncello spritz! Very reasonably priced too!

Regrettably we didn't get food here as we had already booked a table elsewhere, as soon as we seen the food going out to other people's table, we were very rueful lol. Drink was good, atmosphere was good, food looked amazing - will definitely be back!

Serving good food doesn't discount good service. Pathetic behaviour of staff, rude at every instance for no reason from the get go. The trans member of staff, more power to her, but needs to be reminded on professionalism as wearing a thong as high as a kite all the time isn't what customers come to see right up to their faces! Working at a busy bar and yet can't do math and rudely asking us "figure it out yourselves" after we asked to split the bill speaks volumes about the lack of etiquette being encouraged by the management. Last time I checked, we're not at Karen's Diner!

Enjoy the place good food and music

Was in yesterday afternoon - food was great and well priced, however, the server, a blonde tattooed girl was quite rude, she snapped at us when we asked to order, saying she was very busy, then when it came to paying the bill, she said we needed to work out what we wanted to pay as she didn't have a calculator then walked away. My friend and I were left feeling a bit confused and this level of service is definitely not acceptable, let's not also forget the transwoman with her thong half way up her back, quite unsightly indeed.
