I had a delicious meal at The Black Horse with friends and family. I can highly recommend. The service was good our waiter was delightful. He was chatty and very helpful with checking out allergy information for one of our party. I will definitely be coming back.

Very satisfied with our 1st visit here. The food, service and venue was perfect for us.

I've only given 1* overall as the prices were far too high for a very small amount of food. I eat in high end restaurants in London at similar prices, but we get a lot more for our money. A pleasant evening celebrating a birthday, but was marred by the price v's quantity. Such a shame.

Food was overly priced for what I had. Steak pie had 2 small pieces of steak, no veg, just a small bit of mash. My husband had cod and chips, not much cod, and mushy peas didn't taste good. Staff were friendly, and the place looked great. Seating was far enough apart to be private

I had pork which was really tasty. Wife had pie looked a bit grey but tasted OK. Desert again mine was good. Wife had crumble fruit was nice but it was more of an apple and blackberry dust rather than crumble flavour was good.

Went here for work leaving party and food was delicious and service was really good. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and had a sense of humour.

Sunday lunch was lovely. Service was quick and attentive. The gravy could have been better but on the whole an enjoyable visit.

Refused cash and overcharged for drinks...scammers..

Sat down on a free table for dinner and some drinks at 5:30pm on a Friday evening. At 6:30 were told the table had now been reserved for 7:00, and we had to leave. When speaking to the manager, were told that is how the online system works. If someone sits down, they have 1:30 hours of time allocated to them. After which the table is made available online. Potential online customers who haven’t yet turned up force out real local and regular customers who are already spending money. Incredibly frustrating and rude. Long term customers lost.

We came for a birthday lunch recently and we were incredibly impressed with the service and quality of the meals. The menu is perfect and caters for all palettes and requirements. I work in hospitality and I was genuinely take aback by the experience. Massive thanks to our server Lauren, who was lovely throughout. We will be back for sure! Aaron G

The food is delicious, and the service generally excellent, but I was unhappy with the main dish of gnocchi I was served - it only contained 5 small gnocchi dumplings in addition to mushrooms in the sauce. Another on my table only had half an aubergine for his main. It was indeed fantastic tasting, but seemed measly portions especially compared to the meat dishes other guests were served, which came in decent size portions and vegetables as expected. Vegetarian food is not simply the absence of meat, it needs to fill sufficiently, particularly with protein. I was left wondering if we'd been served starters or child's portions by accident, but they cost full price mains on the receipt and we still had to pay for the side I needed to order to feel filled, and it's not cheap here. Although the service was very prompt and excellent otherwise, I did feel my complaint wasn't properly acknowledged. If not for this issue, I'd be happy to leave a 5-star review. Instead, it left a sour taste for my mother's birthday meal as I normally hate complaining. This issue would need to be fixed before I'd visit again.

Very nice place. I went for a few drinks there with friends. Service was good, atmosphere very good. Overall I have had a very nice time there. Also, it is a dog friendly place for people who have dogs. The only negative thing is that they do not accept cash.

Came here for a birthday lunch. Staff were very helpful and accommodating as one of our party arrived late. A bit cold as we were seated near the front door. Food was lovely ( I had the pie) and chips were great. Lovely big car park and dogs are welcome.

What a gem! We didn't have a booking on a busy sat lunchtime but we're found a table in the bar which suited us well. Lovely menu with many 'different' options. And for the first time ever, an eatery managed to provide my choice of a starter plus two sides as my main on ONE plate, so I didn't have to juggle or scrape it about. Really lovely food, supwr friendly staff and good service despite them being very busy. Not the cheapest, but definitely worth every penny.

Came here for dinner whilst staying at a nearby hotel before taking our flight from Gatwick. Fantastic food and amazing staff. The chef even came out himself to ask if everything was okay. Also gave us a free dish to try from the menu. Everything was piping hot and delicious!

Nice menu with classic pub dishes but also other offerings such as lamb and fish. The food is of good quality, service is fast and friendly. I will definitely come here again.

We met another couple for Sunday lunch and dined inside by a window overlooking the beer garden because it seemed too hot to be outside. We chose roast beef, pork ribeye and lamb between us which was truly excellent with trimmings and vegetables etc. Service very friendly and efficient and good wine and local beer for the two men. We booked online and were welcomed by friendly manager on arrival. Car park large. Prices are high these days but our bill for 4 with main course, drinks, coffee and 10% tip was £128 which is better than many other pubs we know. Will certainly return!

This was a cut above the normal pub roast, with excellent quality meat (beef and chicken) and all the trimmings. Lovely gravy too. The friendly and well-trained staff made it a really good all-round experience. Be careful not to book on their identical Thame branch website by mistake, as we initially did.

The service was excellent - the fourth member of our party was held up but the staff were attentive to our needs whilst we waited. Special care was taken to accommodate a food intolerance, and the dishes we selected were delicious. The restaurant was busy and buzzing without seeming hectic, and the service remained very good even when more diners arrived and the restaurant filled up We can highly recommend The Black Horse.

Very disappointing meal. The halloumi burger and beef burger were decidedly inadequate. I’ve had better burgers at MacDonalds. A piece of lettuce and a sliced gherkin with 3 slices of halloumi in the halloumi burger and the same in the beef burger ( obviously minus the halloumi) with a slice of tomato. Wish I’d taken a photo as they were so small compared to other pub burgers I’ve had. Will not be returning. Service and surroundings were very pleasant but the food was mediocre at best.

We enjoyed a good lunch at The Black Horse - it’s a nice building with a good car park. We were looked after by Magda who did a splendid job for us: we tried the beef & ale pie, pork ribeye, stone Bass and the mussels. All the dishes were good and nicely presented. For dessert we had sorbet and the apple crumble (I thought the crumble was a touch expensive at £9 a go but it did look good). A well-run establishment which is well worth a visit.

Our 2nd time of visiting The Black Horse, and another excellent Sunday Lunch. This Pub is very popular, and that is no surprise. The food is excellent and the service just as good. We had Sunday Lunch and Desert, both were presented and tasted amazing. We also have to mention our lovely Waitress Kathleen (Kathy), she was so lovely, down to earth & funny & made our visit here perfect, the service is just as important as the food and she is an absolute asset! We will certainly be returning again in the future.

Lovely pub with great staff & service. Good atmosphere sitting outside in the beer garden and kids and dogs friendly. Went for sunday roast which was OK. The kids pasta, however, was too over cooked which was a shame. 3 course meal for kids is a tenner which is really reasonable.

A pint of peroni and a rose wine with soda was £19.65. Shamefull will not be revisiting. How can you possibly charge that. The ritz is cheaper and you are certainly not that!!!

Another great dining experience, pleasant surroundings, good selection on the menu to suit everyone tastes. Well presented food, full of flavour and good portion sizes excellent service throughou from start to finish. I have eaten here a number of times over the past few years with friends and family and the Black horse has always been consistent.

We had Sunday lunch, 2 courses for £24! All locally sourced ingredients & tasted wonderful, service was excellent, which just proves it can be done.

I recommend this restaurant as the food is delish. , the staff very helpful and accommodating. Chef made a slight change to a dish when requested. Comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere, and no rush to complete your meal. Plenty of parking.

Visited over lunchtime with a group of five. Attentive but relaxed service, pleasant surroundings, a well-chosen menu and nicely presented food that all agreed was delicious. Plentiful car parking, too. We would return.

This is a proper pub/ restaurant. Any one who knows a smidgen about cooking will know they are getting property cooked food. Super atmosphere, lovely staff. There’s not much else to say really, except go there and give yourself a treat.

I came here today for a few drinks after walking Reigate Hill. There was a nice atmosphere to the pub and plenty of seating outside. Will come again and try the food next time.

Me and my partner had a lovely lunch here. Waitress was so lovely (didn’t catch her name, sorry), quick service. Added bonus was the little kitty that kept us company (not sure if part of the pub haha) but even so, we loved it!

Arrived at 11.55 today (Saturday) and were told they were just about to open - would we like to sit outside and wait until a member of staff came out to take our order. Seemed fair enough. Gave up waiting at 12.10 and drove half a mile along the road to The Pheasant. Same’ish menu at similar prices to The Black Horse - but made welcome … the staff and manager there obviously value their customers. Carpark at the Black Horse was empty / carpark at The Pheasant already half full - tells you all you need to know I suppose - the locals obviously know where to go.

I cannot champion this place enough. The food and service is fantastic. You can tell that people like working here and are in safe hands with a manger who cares about customers and his team. Thank you again for a fantastic Sunday Roast. Will be back soon!

TRICKSTERS AND SCAMMERS LAST TIME OF VISITING HERE - very disappointing experience. Have been before, and thought we should give it a second chance. Food is average and nothing special at all. Firstly, they do not accept LEGAL tender by refusing to accept cash, and are a card only operation, that alone is wrong. Then we ordered pie, which came with mash ONLY as stated by our waitress, which is rather odd, so I asked what vegetables would be on the plate as well, as all other restaurants provide this. I was advised to choose my veg from the added extras section for an extra £4.95! Really?, never encountered this before - disgusting so the dinner is sold in separate pieces.......... Forget it - I am not into scamming. So I chose burger and chips, surely I would not have to pay for each chip separately. It arrived very basic, chips were awful - had better in mcdonalds, KFC and other establishments. Now the final scam - the bill arrived - it had £4.11 gratuity written on it?, what is that I asked. "Its the tip" was my answer, it had been added onto my bill without my knowledge, I asked for this to be removed! If and only if I want to tip I will do so by giving the waiter or waitress a treat. How many customers have not noticed this and paid a tip that they did not think the food or service warranted? Why is it automatically put on the bill without the customer being made aware of beforehand. I COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS IS A PLACE TO BE AVOID - UNLESS YOU LIKE TRICKSTERS AND SCAMMERS - WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING AND WILL MAKE SURE WE PASS THIS INFORMATION TO ALL.

Great pub with an exciting menu, not your standard gastro pub food, imaginative and tasty. Great fish selection too. We went on Monday and it was really busy which was a nice surprise. They also do bring your own drinks on Mondays which is a great idea!

Food seemed overpriced so we just had a drink. Dangerous uneven stairs to the toilets in the roof. We will not go back again.

There were 5 of us for food on a Saturday the portions were rather on the small side and also fairly expensive I would have hoped for more for the money. After waiting over an hour and asking where our first course was, it finally arrived ten minutes later. Food was not cooked through and cold. Inedible. Couple next to us arrived half hour after us but were eating before us. Got up and left. Won't be going back. And not cheao, so avoid this shambles of a restaurant.

I think we may have come on a bad night but the service is what let the whole experience down. We arrived early evening with 2 young children and were asked to order before 7pm as they were expecting to be busy. This wasn't a problem for us at all and we ordered some sharing starters and food for the children which arrived quickly. Unfortunately it was downhill from there and we then waited well over an hour for mains despite asking twice about where our food was. The food was nice overall but I had to send my fishcake back with a very undercooked (translucent) poached egg. Two portions of fries never turned up, we had to wait ages for kids desserts and they turned up without the accompanying sauce. Even getting the bill and paying took 3 attempts! We left at 9pm feeling exasperated with two overtired children and decided we probably wouldn't return. It's a shame as it's a nice setting but the service was a let down.

I organised a dinner for 7 guests. 3 of those chose the beef on the bone. 1 of the 3 came with such a small amount of meat compared to the other 2. It was pointed out but nothing was offered and the guest sent...

I organised a group booking of 7 people 3 of which ordered the same meal. One of the 3 meals came with hardly any meat compared to the other 2. It looked like half of a potion and the description stated slow cooked so I can imagine some meat falling off. We pointed this out to a member of staff who said that the chef would get the feedback but never offered another piece of meat. This ended to a party member refusing the dish and as such so upset woukd not wat anything whilst we ate ours. This caused an atmosphere which ruined the whole experience. I am deeply upset about this as the group only get together 3-4 times a year and we always go to the blackhorse. I would appreciate your response to this.

Really nice, very attentive staff. The food was amazing! Beef short rib was to die for and presentation of the food was really nice. The outside area is lovely. They also allow dogs (wish we’d brought ours!)

I had a really fabulous meal at the Black horse on Monday night. I wanted to highly praise the fabulous two ladies who were front of house and who looked after us. They were charming, informative and made us feel very well looked after. There was a good atmosphere for a Monday evening and the food was all lovely. Can’t wait to go back Ps great Pimms as well!

It is a very lovely establishment. Waitress was very helpful, pleasant, and attentive. The atmosphere was very nice and although it was full of people you could still have a conversation and be heard. It was a very enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend!
