The place is busy on a Sunday and when we went there were a lot of children, so quite noisy. The food is average; we ordered the beef; we prefer it pink but it came out well cooked. All in all an average Sunday lunch but nothing special.

Visited a couple of times now, both times have left us not wishing to return. The bar area is fabulous, cosy and full of character. Drinks are pricey, but feel justified in the bar. The restaurant is open plan, has some nice pieces of furniture in it and some not so nice. It lacks atmosphere. We were seated near to the entrance and towards the end of the evening we continually suffered from the draught created by people leaving and freezing cold air down our backs - not pleasant. The food is average on both visits, edible but nothing special. Service is a bit hit and miss, waiter very good, waitress virtually catapulted plates across you onto the table, and when a little comment to guide her given, she noted with a sigh (been told before I guess - it’s not difficult to be kind to people and take your time to serve them properly.)

Very poor Christmas lunch for the price paid, starters were average, tiast so hard couldnt eat it, cold plates fir main course, vegetables were cool, main course came already plated up with vegetables and gravy...no fresh coffee served, was in a flask. Very disappointed

My son and daughter in law took me out today for lunch here today for my birthday and the whole experience was disappointing. Waited over 45 mins for the starters,which were ok ,then we were seemingly forgotten about for almost another hour then when asked if we were waiting for an ice cream, I had to point out we hadn't had our main course, even then another 15 mins went by until another waitress asked us if we'd had our mains ,I said no we were still waiting. Ten more minutes and it finally arrived, luke warm .we ate it (well some of it) and then we got up and went to pay the bill we were going to have dessert but quite frankly didn't want to waste another hour of my time. They didn't even get the bill right,they gave us the correct bill but charged us for another one. Lucky my daughter in law spotted it. Overall experience in a word dreadful.

Not as good as it used to be, the mains were not great and the chocolate mouse was not at all good, very thick and unpleasant.

The staff were really friendly and extremely efficient. The food was excellent, tasty and well presented. It delivered what was promised.

My husband and I both had the hot roast beef ciabatta (menu said with side salad and chips).The bread bun was as hard as rock I could not bite into it and could not even cut it with my knife, the side salad consisted of a few leaves of rocket etc. and the chips were half a dozen crisps. Needless to say not enjoyable. After the meal we had coffee my husband's was tepid. The staff are very inviting and friendly. Very nice venue.

Be carefull what you order ,you could be disapointed with what you get compaired to what some one else.

Delicious Sunday lunch. We had 3 rst beef and 1 belly pork. We are all gravy lovers, asked for more gravy as quite sparse on plate and were delivered a lovely jug full! Friendly staff, good service.

We used to love this place. Hadn't been there for some time and was shocked to see how poor and limited the menu choices are now. There is no adventurous British cooking and it seems that curry is now to the fore. If you are a vegetarian the choices are poor. Affagato coffee £8.00 !!!

We’ve been coming to the Black Bull for a good ten years when we visit nearby Richmond. The food never disappoints and we’d definitely recommend it. We went in a Thursday, which was ‘pie night’. The full menu was available but there was a special offer on pies, so the pie meal cost £12 instead of £16 and there were several choices available. Steak and ale was fab. The only downside on this visit was that the restaurant was completely empty, which was not good to see. We ate by the fire in the lovely bar area instead, which was buzzing. Vegetarian’s are well catered for and there’s plenty of choice on the menu, with great ale, wine and spirit choices. Service is always warm and efficient. Plenty of parking and a stack of dog beds by the fire.

The Black Bull at Moulton, The Cleveland Tontine we’re both exceptional restaurants in their day. Where would go for special family occasions or business meetings. Both are a shadow of their former selves since acquired by this Group. The Black Bull has lost all its charm although the large dining room is a pleasant light and airy place to be. Sunday lunch was really poor. Dishes served at best luke warm, half the party of 10 sending them back. Even the cauliflower cheese was cold which is quite a skill !! Average meat quality and not cheap at £32 a head including the audacity to add a tip Definitely won’t go back - I said the same a couple of years ago and went as someone else booked. RIP the Black Bull proper.

We came for dinner, and enjoyed a wonderful meal with friendly and fast service. I highly recommend the abroath smokie and the trio of fish, we will be back!

We visited twice for lunch over two days, once as a large group in one of the private rooms and then as a couple before our journey home. Both visits were brilliant, staff were friendly and helpful especially when serving a large group. Food was tasty, hot and exactly what was ordered. Nothing was too much trouble and customer service was impeccable.

Booked table for 4 Sunday lunch. Food arrived very quickly after ordering not at all what we were expecting, food was just warm no surprise when plates were cold. Very disappointed 4 main courses & 4 cokes £90 , not at all value for money will not be returning.

The food looks good on the plate but doesn't taste great and is expensive without meeting the expectations. Disappointing experience and very long wait of 1 hr before getting the main meal due to 2 big birthday parties in the old building.

Superb meal. Did a two hour hike in the moors and came here for lunch after. Went for the chefs special of 3 fish. Monkfish, Salmon and king prawns. Lovely sauce, tasty spinach and a great pint to wash it down. The food was spectacular and was a complete surprise. Didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Will be coming back for sure. Kudos to the chef.

We had a warm welcome from Ian and an excellent lunch. The restaurant was spacious and airy and acoustic were very good so we could all hear each other clearly around the table. Choice of food was ideal and we thought good value for money....

Visited the Bull many times over the past couple of years, usually for lunch en route to Catterick races. I have had great service and the food and drink have been of superb taste and quality. Can't speak highly enough of this restaurant.

It was just ok, was here for a family celebration during July and the food was average, service relatively slow and we had a childs roast which in hind sight was not suitable for a two year old and probably could have been made clearer before hand. I wouldn't go back

A very nice pub, with very good food and friendly, attentive staff. Eating Al-fresco on a warm, sunny summer night was a very pleasant experience. The manager even let us park up for the night in our camper.

We end up at Black Bull by chance in our way home after a day trip in Yorkshire Dale's. The atmosphere was fantastic, our waiter was very attentive... But the food.... Starters VERY WELL presented and that's it. My wife had Focaccia bread - mediocre taste and execution ... Hubby & I ate there last week, whilst on holiday. Lovely meal. Pleasant staff and nice modern setting. If this was local to us, we would definitely make regular visits. 😋 I had seabass with a glass of wine,followed by the black forest gateau. Hubby had chicken followed by chocolate mousse. First time we've been here, not disappointed. It's a really large place once you've made your way in through from the carpark. It was a slightly dull day when we visited, but I imagine this place would be perfect on a summers day. The food was great and the staff were excellent and it turned out to be surprisingly good value. Couldn't ask for more. It's definitely a place that's on our return list.

Called in without a reservation and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Great welcome, choice of restaurant or bar to sit but the menu the same - and excellent. Staff very apologetic that a couple of dishes had sold out as the menu was being changed the following day but the choice was still great and the food just brilliant. Very nicely fitted out but really it’s the professionalism and friendliness of the team that make this place a definite must-come-back.

Beautiful interior and bigger than anticipated from the outside. I've been past here many times but have never been inside. Staff were brilliant especially with our little boy, nothing was a problem and they went above and beyond. This absolutely has to be one of the best pub restos in the North! The setting is wonderful, the food is fabulous and the service is superb. We took my parents there recently and had a wonderful lunch. The staff we’re so helpful and attentive and made a real fuss of my Mum & Dad - thank you so much. I love this place - you must go.

Great food and a great venue. We hired the private room at the back which is great for kids to play around in without disturbing everyone else in the restaurant. Would highly recommend to others.

Excellent Sunday lunch for the whole family.

After a long while away from The Black Bull we finally took the plunge and had lunch there today by a roaring fire at our usual table . We were not disappointed they had up'd their game and our lunch was served with a smile, on time and a very good plate of fabulous food , 25% off too which was welcome of course . We will be back into our usual routine now we have experienced their good service and fabulous food once again !

Keen professional staff despite it being very quiet. Good food that did not break the bank, warm cozy fire to sit by after the meal. My wife was very happy, therefore so am I.

We’ve visited the Black Bull on a number of occasions whilst staying near Richmond. The place itself is beautifully kept and well maintained. We’ve always found something to suit everyone on the menu. The food has been excellent as is the service. I wouldn’t hesitate to book or recommend this venue. Love this place and only wish we lived closer as we’d be here every week.

Woke snowflakes run the social dynamics of this place and when they tell an old professor to sit there quietly and the owner lets them methinks that is taking the pizza. Especially when they have a hidden ten percent service charge. I give tips if I enjoy my experience, not here.

I'll start by saying the staff were lovely and the place is very nice inside. But, the Sunday lunch was very poor. Beef cooked pink but full of gristle, pork tough as old boots, crackling hadn't crackled. Was looking forward to the huge Yorkshire pudding but it was dry and tasteless. We ordered desserts thinking they're normally fine even when mains aren't. Ordered an apple and blackberry crumble. The crumble was just sprinkled on top, it had never seen an oven. The bill was £35 a head. Way, way overpriced for the standard of the food. A really pity because again, the staff were lovely, the food sadly not.

We were there as part of a large family group and had a large pre booked table in the champagne bar area where we had an excellent meal with good unfussy service and plenty of opirtu ity to chat.

Very welcoming staff, dog friendly bar which was very well decorated and really good food. Only being 5 minutes from Scotch Corner, it's a brilliant place for a pit stop on your travels and we'll definitely be back.
