Rare i write reviews. Came here for friends birthday, little to no communication from staff until letting us order starters and starters only after an hour of being there. As starters arrived they started taking our orders for mains whilst we were eating. Poor food quality, Poor staff, Poor experience.

Fantastic quality food that came sizzling with portions that will keep you filled for the day! Polite staff were really welcoming and gave a second to none service - would highly recommend Black Salt to anyone and looking forward to my next trip there.

I ordered the sirloin 12 oz i think my meal was like 22 pound or something like that and if im honest ive had a nicer steak and chips in a pub, the steak itself was ok and the cauliflower in batter things where also ok but the rest of the meal was rank the peas where so overcooked they where soggy and squashy and the chips where also minging they tasted like they where days old, the peppercorn sauce was also minging and clumpy, so for what cost me 22 pound i left the place hungry as the other half of meal was unedible, the decor in this place is like of something a fine restaurant would have and the prices are way to much for the quality of the food and whoever is cooking it, quite a strange place if im honest.

Looks all posh and like a top restaurant and the menu looks all nice untill the food arrives and is just box standerd like something you would get in a weatherspoons or something, way way way overpriced i dont know if the owner thinks his food is amazing or something?, for all the effort you put in the decor and the fancy dishes on the menu maybe start buying proper fresh produce along with a skilled chef to cook it then you could rightfully so charge 20 + for a meal etc..

Food is absolutely delicious huge.portions. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. Draught beer prices rather expensive though. Overall though an excellent restaurant!

I had the best steak I’ve ever had my Mrs had a bolognaise and my 2 year old had Mac and cheese it was all beautiful the staff are amazing giving there attention to our 2 year old daughter they gave us toys for her to play with we all had a good time and lots of laughs I would recommend anyone to come here to eat it’s fantastic and good for the money for the best food ❤️

I visited Black Salt two nights ago as our annual Christmas meal out with the ladies from my gym. I had never been there before and when I arrived it looked to have a lovely atmosphere. I will start by saying that there was no complaints regarding the food. The food was nice. The staff however VERY rude and also very slow and unorganised. They took over half an hour to come and take our food order (a set two course meal). The waitress took our starter order and then came back around to do our main order. I have no idea why she didn't just do it all in one go to save time. The starters came out well over an hour of waiting. In fact 4 of our party had finished their starters whilst everyone else on our table was waiting for theirs. I had to leave the meal shortly after as I had to go and collect my friend from work, and because the starter took so long I asked if my main could be cooked first. The older larger blonde lady I addressed was very rude to me saying it wasn't her problem and I should speak to the waitress. The other lady seemed friendly and said no problem. Again, 4 of our party received their main meals before everyone else and I was still waiting. Despite being told my meal would be out first. I politely asked the other waitress with long dark hair and she was extrude to me saying can't you see we are busy! The lady's I was with were disgusted by how she spoke to me, as was I! There is NO need for rudeness! Also if you can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen! You do not speak to paying customers like that for no reason! I noticed they are advertising for waitress's on the front door and I can see why, because the ones they have are rude and have no idea what they are doing. Unorganised chaos to be honest. None of our party was happy with the lack of service and I/we will not be returning again. On a happier note the live singer was brilliant.

Delivery driver was rude and unprofessional. Shocking behaviour which is a shame really, as the food is quite decent. Management need to train some of there divers to have better communication skills.

First time visit but certainly not the last. Early booking 6pm so was quiet which suited us. Interaction with staff easy and comfortable. I opted for 12oz fillet steak with Charlestown sauce sides were huge battered cauliflower peas and chips. My wife had stuffed chicken breast in a delicious sauce. Everything cooked perfectly and piping hot. Can't wait to try their Sunday roast .

First time at Black Salt and will be returning! We were a large booking and on arrival warmly welcomed by both the lovely friendly owner Carmella and another lady (didn't catch name...sorry) who was so welcoming, we were well looked after by both ladies...service was amazing. Food was beautiful..freshly cooked to perfection...very generous portions, we all really enjoyed our meals. Can't wait to return and wish we had found you sooner.

A Delightful surprise on our first visit Welcomed by Carmella the owner and shown to our table which around it had been decorated with birthday balloons and garlands Our party of fourfor my 77th birthday was unforgettable our meals were perfect and the drinks complimented the meal 4 starters were amazing as was our fillet steak meals all steaks cooked as asked fresh vegetables Roasted sweet potatoes deep fried Cauliflowe peas carrots mushrooms Perfectly cooked onion rings and delicious garlic bread with cheese. Au poivre steak sauce . All absolutely delicious Music to match my age Frank Sinatra Andy Williams The Righteous Bros and more made it perfect, to end the night Carmella came out with a delicious dessert with a birthday candle and was singing happy birthday to me which family and all there joined in with. Thank you Carmella and Staff of the Black Salt you gave me a birthday I will remember. Please, pay them a visit you will not be disappointed and will come away not only greatly satisfied but feel like you have shared it with old friends and Family God Bless

Luvley place food fantastic friendly staff but could be more antetive to detail once food arrived that was the last you saw of them had to go and ask for condiments and more drinks had to sit at the table after we finished our meal full of dirty plates that was never cleared...sort the customer service out and you can't fault the place.

We visited Black Salt for my son's 18th Birthday, this was our first visit and what can I say! We were a party of 14 and we were made to feel so welcome, there were birthday banners on the wall and every effort was made to make our experience a pleasant one. The food was absolutely lovely, everyone enjoyed their meal, some of our first choices were sold out but we were then recommended alternatives. If you are considering visiting Black Salt then honestly you won't be disappointed.

Catered for large booking. Everyone pleased with meals, all came out together and hot. Majority had steaks, served on sizzler plates and really good quality. I had homemade burger which was lovely. Recommend. Parking can be tricky. Also they prefer cash payments.

Incredible service and food. Steaks to die for, amazing sides, reasonably priced drinks and wine. The fillet souvlaki was exceptional. Amazing service - the staff were polite, professional and patient. Will be back next week!

This is a gem of an eatery offering delicious Jewish deli food in a small restaurant and takeaway counter setup. Friendly, welcoming and willing service by a lovely family steeped in this kind of food.

Black Salt has a great atmosphere. If you're expecting a quick, quiet meal you're in the wrong place. All of the members of staff are all delightful and love a conversation and feel like you're building a friendship. The ex owners and chef from Charleston’s. The food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. Service for the most part is prompt however we did have to remind some members of staff that we had ordered drinks. Overall, good experience and have been a few times. The steaks are always delicious!

Wonderful to see and experience the full Charleston evening. Fantastic service and food,with Charleston’s sauce on the streak highly recommended for the full Monty. Couldn’t wait to try this restaurant when I heard it was run by owners of Charlestons (above Gilesports , St Mary Street) and we weren’t disappointed- myself, wife,daughter and grandson went for daughters birthday. We had a warm welcome from all staff and were shown to our table, drinks ordered and brought swiftly to our table. We ordered, calamari, prawn cocktail,garlic bread and cheesy garlic bread as starters, food was brought in good time and was very good, once finished mains followed quite quickly, T-Bone & 16oz rump steak ,lasagna, fillet steak souvlaki with two sauces and a side of Mac n cheese for grandson- steaks and skewer meat were cooked to perfection (medium-rare) and lasagna was delicious ( and huge) along with the fantastic battered cauliflower and peas. We will be back very soon pricepoint for quality and quantity was amazing.

First time here tonight and we will be back. 12 of us eating, all food came out at the same time, which isn’t easy. Food was delicious, even had real home cooked chips. Staff were amazing and went above and beyond even surprising us with a cake to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. Highly recommend!!

Had a lovely evening here. The staff are very welcoming, Carmella was really friendly and attentive to all the customers. The menu is made up of all the things that my husband and I like. The steak my husband had was perfectly cooked even though it was very thick (fillet). I had the beef on a skewer, it was also cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed our starter. We have booked to go again shortly and are looking forward to it. Highly recommended.

What a disaster. The blooming onion was served as a solid onion, when broken up the batter was raw on the inside. We sent it back and the waitress just laughed. Three of the mains then came, burgers, and the peppercorn sauce for my steak arrived. The waitress said my food wouldn’t be long, after about 5 mins of waiting we saw the chef putting a raw steak onto the hot plate- 15 mins later my food arrive and my friends had gone cold, they had started to eat some as I said not to wait after about ten mins. However this is not the worst part, the worst part is the ketchup sachets we were given that were two years out of date. We realised this when one of my friends couldn’t eat his burger because of the rancid taste. We made the waitress aware we wouldn’t be staying or eating our meals, I wouldn’t usually leave a bad review, but the cheek to then charge us £19.75 for 4 soft drinks, and not even offer an apology once for all these mistakes was too much. Avoid at all costs.

Had lunch here today and the food was absolutely fantastic. We haven't stopped talking about how amazing it was all the way home. Enjoyed by all as you can see in the photos. We will definitely be back and the owner and other waitress were so friendly and warm to the children.

We went for birthday night for a friend of ours. Two couples what fantastic place to eat. Wonderful staff from bar staff to waitress that served our food . The food was done to perfection . We had lamb shank it just melted in your mouth . The veg was perfect too. Has for the price of the food fantastic we paid £65 for three course lunch for my wife and I had two course with drinks. Both chefs came out to speak to us lovely friendly even joking with us too. Has for the owner very attentive too our every need . They even brought out cake with candle on for the birthday girl Maria. All I can say is thank you for best night out in long while. Steven Marilyn.

Food: Bloody beautiful. We both enjoyed our meals. Steak, mussels sides and drinks. All very fresh and sooo tasty. Great portion size too. Atmosphere: It was perfect for our date. Camilla is the owner and personally greets everyone and we had plenty of laughs with her. Customer service: No waiting, food is prompt. Staff are friendly and attentive. Overall: I would definitely visit again. The menu is great and caters for foodies. Portions are great and you leave feeling fed. Large selection of drinks. Staff are super engaging, friendly and happy to help. We will definitely be visiting again for another date night. Great spot for date, family, girls or guys nights out, celebrations and for anyone who enjoys great food and atmosphere.

Had the most amazing experiences here, been a couple of times and staff and the owner Camilla have gone above and beyond each time. Food is delicious as always, no matter what I have chosen to eat it’s always been made so beautifully tasty. Can’t recommend this place more even when taking my own daughter on a date night there staff have been lovely towards her also.

What we thought was going to be a lovely evening to celebrate my friends birthday, ruined by the unprofessional behaviour of the manager( Carmella) We asked for some bread to go with my friends soup, and she Shouted "NO' the list of complaints goes on. I can only conclude from other reviews that they can't cope with large groups. Instead of getting defensive and abusive by customer complaints, look at all these negative comments they are about you, and do something to change your attitude. If it was another member of staff you would sack them. Please don't reply, not to come there again trust me we all won't.

Utter shambles, had a lovely evening food was good until the bill they tried to charge for 31 people when there was only 30 of us, accused people of leaving before paying their bill, waitresses taking money off people and putting in their apron, then they said there was was £160 shortfall in bill and they could not produce accurate itemised bill just list of numbers, manager dissappear ed, and left waitresses to try to work all this out, then they turned really nasty and downright abusive and threatening which spoilt my wife's birthday ended a friend paying extra £50 as that was what it came down to from £160 which I still don't think we should have paid just to get out as the staff shouting good riddance wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Disgraceful owner - booked for a table for 11 people and paid £55 deposit over phone. One of our party couldn't attend because his son had just died ☹️ owner would only take £50 deposit off our bill because she 'could've given his space to someone else!' There were only 2 tables occupied in the restaurant and so 'plenty ' of room for other people. She then denied she was the owner and said she only worked there. Kept saying that 'they' would not allow it!?!?!? Will never go again!

4 guys 4 perfect steaks. What's can I say about this place. Absolutely the place to go for a steak, we loved it its very comfortable and the deco well presented. We will be visiting again.

Driven past many times and thought, I'll go there, eventually made it. First impressions were good, well laid out restaurant and bar. Seating areas were individual tables and booths. The menu content was excellent, everything I would want to see, and more. The pricing actually seemed cheap. Food arrived, and the portions were big and well presented. This is a great value for money restaurant, we'll be back. Only downside, we were cold. I think they had an issue with the front door stuck slightly open.

Waitress maxed out with 2 tables of customers…forgot orders but don’t expect any multi tasking. When the complete tables food arrived it was good if not a little small.

Came here on recommendation after a recent works do that I missed. I’m so glad that we chose black salt to celebrate mine and my wife’s wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and plentiful. (very rare to have both) To summarise, a wonderful evening.

Recently had the pleasure of visiting Black Salt, boy were we pleased that we did. Food is amazing, plenty to choose from, and delicious to taste. When we visited on a Thursday evening, we were lucky to experience their fantastic live entertainment. Staff are warm and friendly, the establishment is spotlessly clean, and the whole ambience of the evening was great. The owner was ever present, and took time to chat to each table to ensure that they were enjoying themselves. I know we valued that highly. On the whole I highly recommend you visit. It's well worth it. 5 star in my eyes.

Just got home from Black Salt. Amazing service great people food off the charts. Steak better than Miller and Carter. Skewers better than The Madera. Highly recommend this restaurant. Also big up to Tracey who was serving our table. Thank you everyone will definitely be coming back soon xxx

Over priced disappointment. The menu talked a good game. Ordered 2 burgers, sounded amazing but what we got was far from. Overcooked, oniony, dry, (burger) very oily. Edit: reply to owners comment, We were thoroughly disappointed with our food. And the fact that you would rather try and deminish our constructive criticism instead of taking it on board doesn't show good character from a business owner. We travel a lot for work and so have experienced food across the UK and have left a genuinly honest review based on our experience. Also just to know it's typically not good practice for your server (how ever polite he was) to stand in the open entrance door and smoke after having served food.

Second time here tonight, this time for my mums birthday, 1st class service, the staff are amazing and the owner is the best, so so friendly and approachable 😊. The food is so beautiful it’s hard to fault. Very generous portions of fresh well prepared deliciousness. Was also able to park rite outside.
