Our local pub , normally go in for quiz nights great fun. There was five of us booked for sunday lunch. Fantastic food great service. The owner and the staff are amazing. Music and a live singer. Highly recommended

Myself and my partner have only just recently moved to the area but due to the lockdown we couldn’t go out anywhere. As soon as this place opened back up we thought why not give it a visit. The food was lovely and they did some of the best chips we both have ever had. The staff were very welcoming and friendly with the added bonus of there being a pub dog! Will definitely be paying a visit again and have done so already when they have been hosting the euros.

We have had their takeaway Fish & Chips a couple of times recently. Good sized portions of fish cooked fresh with chip and mushy peas mmmm. Also well done for all your hard work in preparing and delivering meals for the NHS staff at DVH.

Just had an amazing Pork Roast. Have eaten in the pub before and love the food. Had curry take out before which was delicious but this was the first roast take away. It did not disappoint! It was as good as eating in. Huge roasties, stuffing in bacon, Brussels, roast carrots, parsnips & Cauliflower. Very happily surprised to get a Yorkshire pud and topped of with great crackling!

This pub is a fantastic pub, really warm and friendly, i am proud to call this my local. The staff are great and you can’t ask for a better landlord, the pub serves a wide selection of drinks and serves up some fantastic food, with various different food being offered throughout the week. The fish and chips on a Friday are to die for.

My wife and I have been going to the Bird in hand for years to meet friends. The staff are always polite and provide excellent service. It has a friendly family atmosphere with a great garden. More recently, the set up for covid safety is very impressive with tables set appropriately apart and use of screens. The food served is top notch, and the entertainment when it can be provided is great. I would recommend this pub to everyone.

Fantastic friendly pub with a great atmosphere. During these unprecedented times Adam and his team implemented increased safety measures that are at the forefront to ensure everyone is protected and can have a socially distanced drink while enjoying being in a wonderful pub. A great selection of draft beers and spirits on offer and friendly atmosphere. Now during lock down 2 they are providing take away fish & chips on Friday. My family and I had them this week and I can honestly say that they were some of the best fish and chips we have have had. I will be going back as soon as soon as possible and looking forward to another helping of Fish and Chips this week. Thanks Adam and the team at the Bird in Hand

Had the take away Fish and Chips on Friday. What can I say? OMG, amazing. I'll start with the fresh battered fish: beat you'll have. However, the chips!!!!!! THE BEST CHIPS EVER. And I mean ever! 10/10. Well done Adam.

As its lockdown yet again my local pub the Bird in Hand is offering take away fish & chips on Fridays and i decided to try it out. I can honestly say this is the best fish & chips I've ever had. The cod was wonderful so white and succulent (from Billingsgate that morning) and I've never tasted chips like it, they were to die for, so golden and crispy and fab and all piping hot. Can't praise take away fish & chips on a Friday from The Bird in Hand enough. Thank you Adam Joy The photos don't do it justice xx

Absolutely lovely,family friendly public house with a great atmosphere.even in these unprecedented times. Adam has gone above and beyond making sure that you still receive a good experience when ever you visit. All safety measures and guildlines are adhered to.Food is amazing cooked fresh to an amazing standard the best iv tasted in a long time.All the staff are so welcoming Can't wait to go back after lockdown. This pub has such a engaging and happy atmosphere. Pre lockdown it stuck to the guidelines very well and did everything right and the food that they do is always exquisite and amazing for value! It is very friendly and you will find yourself wanting to go back again and again!

We had roast chicken on Sunday 1st November. Late Mother's Day lunch, due to first lock down. I am gluten intolerance and always catered for. Amazing 3 course lunch and a nice gift for the mums. Highly recommend the food and even if you fancy a drink, they are always welcoming and the best Covid measures I have seen so far. So sad they need to close for a month again.

Had the lamb roast last weekend and was not disappointed!!! Lamb was cooked brilliantly, potatoes and veggies were great too. Couldn’t fault anything. A member of our party said if he had a second stomach he would of had another portion straight after!

We had a super roast dinner and would without doubt recommend. However we would have had a dessert if this had been available and offered perhaps missing a trick. We will be back very soon.

I’ve not been in for a little while for obvious reasons,but they haven’t left the community that loves them alone....the things they trying to do and once again succeeding to help out at this very difficult time is absolutely incredible,so can only give massive applause to Adam and his family for caring in the community once again.Keep up the good work and stay safe.

This pub is friendly, welcoming & has a real heart. There’s usually some kind of fundraising going in & in the current Corona Virus situation they are once stepping up to the line & have arranged food & household items donations which are being made into shopping bags & delivered to those nominated members of the public who are isolated, unable to shop, or without family support.As well as being a true pub at the centre of the community the programme of entertainments & fabulous food served by the chef/landlord makes this a must visit venue.

Came here for karaoke, what a treat! Adam and team know how to entertain, and know how to operate! If you get a chance, come down to the Bird in Hand!

Lovely local pub where we have been coming for years as in our view it’s the best pub for us in Dartford. Dog friendly, to be kept on leads except Harley but this is sensible! (the lovely staff will bring out a little dog biscuit for ours if they can :)) good selection of beers on tap, nice gins, great bar staff and regular entertainment - quiz night Thursdays, karaoke on last Wednesday of the month and often have weekend entertainment. Follow their Facebook page for info ‘official bird in hand pub’ for updates on events, curry nights and other promos. Nice atmosphere all round!

Lovely friendly staff, great menu, home cooked fresh food. The pub has a massive garden and patio area to enjoy in the summer. Live music at weekends, karaoke, quiz nights, Sky Sports, darts, pool table and resident retriever dog there's something for everyone here.

Great beer, good selection of spirits, check out the pubs Facebook page for events they hold weekly. I also think they are going to be serving food on certain days again.

I often come here with my daughter always feel welcome. Friendly regulars and great food and drinks.

This pub has it all. A great atmosphere, great staff and a great beer garden for when the sun is shining. Not a bad word to be said about this pub.

Started to pop into this pub in late 2019 and wish I’d made the plunge sooner. Regulars, staff and Harley the dog are all very welcoming and the drinks are well priced.

Had our volunteers Christmas party here and we couldn't have had a better time. The pre-planning from the Landlord ensured that he knew what we wanted and he went out of his way to give us a great party. The live singer was a good touch and got us all in the festive spirit! Will be back to try the non Christmas menu!

A group of 27 booked in for our Xmas Party - Wow, wow the food was all home made, plentiful and delicious. The roast turkey was the tastiest I have ever had (shame Xmas is only once a year). The next biggest star was the yummy home made Tiramisu - trust me the Chef at The Bird In Hand would win in a competition against any Michelin Chef with this desert. Three courses was rounded off with tea/coffee and mince pies. Great value meal - would highly recommend this Gastro Pub.

Never had a worse tasting beer in my life. Went to the top rated pub in Dartford and was left with disappointment. They didn’t serve food yet online they have a lot of photos of food. The kitchens opening time wasn’t made clear to us. The gentleman behind the bar just said ‘we don’t serve food’

As the top rated pub in Dartford, we had high expectations. Apparently they do not serve food, yet in Trip advisor there are 52 photos, 51 of which, are of food. The pints were of the worst quality and the beer garden is embarrassing. We will not be returning to this pub.

Popped in this lovely little pub for an after work drink.. lovely place . Very friendly staff, dog friendly and has a lovely covered garden area and play area for the kids.. great atmosphere and very comfortable seating.. will definitely go here again.

Went here for fish on Good Friday. My friend had beautifully cooked battered fish with chips & peas. The fish was so white & the texture was perfect. Adam had been up to Billingsgate to choose it himself.

Popped in here as it was recommended. The place was run down and smelt of stale beer. No food was on offer. The staff weren't very welcoming either. I won't be going back there.

had a nice meal but it was full of children one party had a birthday celabration and were very noisy wouldn,t go there again

went here for this best curry ive ever had great service i now know why this needs to be booked in advance great value price £8 and with a drink as well plus karaoke i had a sing song too thank you so much.

So,me and a few friends decided to have an end of season knees up....few beers,curry and the odd game of darts and pool.great night had as usual and can honestly say it’s the best curry I’ve had so far (yellow Thai chicken). 👌

Fantastic curry as always, brilliant atmosphere and great service! Adam even made a special curry for my fussy 10 year old as she wanted something different to the ones on offer, and she even cleared her plate !! Definitely recommend this lovely family pub !!!!

Not only is the well established Wednesday night Curry back now that February is here but there is an addition to the repertoire.

Another fantastic weekend festival at this warm and friendly pub. Lovely gardens which hosted some very good folk groups, very talented artists added to the great atmosphere in the sun. A host of great ales and ciders of all tastes and strengths to satisfy most of our thirsts were available along with the usual tasty food from the barbeque. This pub is a real gem.

We visited on the Friday night and again on Sunday. An excellent selection of ales and cider. The music was fantastic (even before the effects of the mango cider kicked in). I cannot wait for the next one as the atmosphere was 1st class as was the service from the staff.

Another fantastic success for Adam Joy the landlord of the Bird in Hand. The Folk Ale & Cider Festival took place on August Bank Holiday from Friday 25th at 6pm until Monday 28th 9pm. I visited the pub on Saturday afternoon with a group of friends and stayed until closing. What a fantastic atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with loads of fantastic bands and singers ending with the Oakland Brothers as the last act of the night. There were over 30 different ales and ciders available many from local brewers and a fab BBQ on offer. Over 70 live acts appeared throughout the weekend. This is the second year I have been to the festival and long may this event continue. Thank you to Adam and all the staff

What a great weekend at the Bird in Hand! As always Friendly welcoming staff, serving an amazing choice of ales and ciders for this festival, now in its 3rd year. Beautiful beer garden with a play area for the children.

Really nice beers as always for sale (don't think I have ever had a duff one yet), loads of different beers from local brewery's, the beers I tried from musket brewery were awesome! This yearly event is a great.

Looked on web and trip advisor to find a nice pub for lunch arrived Early so waited till noon then went inside to be told no lunch served today ???Very disappointed

Although there are many pubs around the area, Bird in Hand packs all the key ingredients in - good selection of drinks, great BBQ and bouncy castle for the little ones in aid of Fathers Day and very friendly, efficient and multi tasking staff.The decor of both the inside and beautiful garden gives a great ambience of the place.Credit to the owner and staff in providing great atmosphere, vibrant and lively and extremely child friendly.Overall a gem of a pub, I highly recommend.

I visit this pub around once a month or every 2 months and always find the staff very welcoming and friendly. There are always fresh flowers on the tables and it's clean. The garden is huge and has an area for children to play, fantastic!

The Bird In Hand is by far the best pub in the area. Great atmosphere, friend staff and the best beer garden. This pub is for all occasions; watching the football, beer with a mate, glass of wine with the wife, family afternoon out or a large group of mates. They even have a bat and trap team (you may want to Google this game).Please give it a go... you won't be dissapointed.

This is a great pub with very friendly staff & excellent food. The Sunday lunch is particularly good & well worth the very reasonable price. The garden is great for children too.

Always a good evening in this pub, activities take place most evenings, darts matches, pool matches, quiz night and my favourite bat & trap played in the beautiful pub garden. Live entertainment most weekends and often a gorgeous barbeque on warm days. I just love the friendly atmosphere and nice beers too! Great community pub often raising money for local charities.

Great family friendly pub. Food amazing and entertainment great especially Calli Malpass. Adam does a lot for local charities. Holding a fun day for Darent Valley Hospital to raise money for TVs. Most recently raising money for the New Yorkers a charity that helps Adults with Learning Disabilities.

It's the best local pub I've ever been to!! There is always a great atmosphere and I love sitting in the garden in the summer with both friends and family, I've had some of the best nights there!! Would recommend it to anyone!!

I have reviewed this pub before and probably will do again as we really can't stay away.The atmosphere is always welcoming and people are always made to feel comfortable. Adam, the landlord, shows a keen interest in his sports teams and there are lots of events to raise money for charity.

Whether you want a quiet Sunday pint, an after work one or you wish to enjoy some live entertainment, such as Calli Malpas then this is the place to be. Staff and regulars are very welcoming. Plenty of choice on beer and spirits. The pub is spacious, plenty of room to either stand at the bar or sit at a table with friends/family. There is a large garden also to the rear. The meals I'm told are exceptional, I haven't dined there myself but often sell out of a Sunday Lunch quickly, through high demand. Definitely a place to meet everyone's needs. Why not go and check it out for yourselves.

My wife and I went to the Bird in the hand Pub on Sunday night (28.05.17) as it was a bank holiday the next day and a Friend of our was performing his first solo gig.I have to say we were not sure what to expect as we had never been to this pub before and it was a cab ride to get to and to get away if it was a dump :)But I have to say we were so pleasantly surprised, ignoring the fact that it was a friend of our putting on the entertainment, the pub had such a nice and pleasant atmosphere as soon as you walked through the door,Despite having a pool table and a dartboard and a place for the entertainment to set up it was very well set out and not claustrophobic at all, as so many pubs are that try to cram to many attraction into a small pub,The décor was very nice and the whole place had a clean and tidy look to it, the Landlord obviously knows what works and has got it just right here,The bar staff were extremely tentative and friendly with a warming smile and pleasantries each time I went to the bar, they were quick to serve everyone who came to the bar without looking rushed,This is the first time we have been there but it will not be our last

Just spent a fantastic day in the beer garden at the bird in hand. Raising money for an appeal by DVH CHILDREN'S WARD for new tvs. Great staff and atmosphere the kids lobed the coconut shy and bat and trap game. A well run family orientated pub

Great beer & great company! We have become frequents! Adam's a legend and of course, there's a pub dog - Floyd! Really friendly local pub atmosphere with regular music entertainment to get us all jumpin! A proper local with darts, snooker,bat & trap teams, quiz nights and open mic nights. Food! I need to eat here as it always looks and smells delicious! Looking forward to going for the 'Bottomless Prosecco Afternoon Tea'!

My partner recently held his 60th Birthday party in the Bird in Hand. What a fantastic venue for a party. Adam Joy the landlord laid on the most wonderful food and the live entertainment was brilliant. The venue was decorated and Sarah who is one of the staff was absolutely amazing in assisting us with our every whim. We could not have chosen a better place to hold a party. I love this pub anyway

Had the pleasure to visit this traditional pub on the outskirts of Dartford / Crayford. Friendly welcome, great choice of four real ales and numerous lagers to choose from. Great garden to enjoy and brilliant live entertainment, well worth a visit time again!

Had a fantastic night at the Bird in Hand on Friday 10 February. It was a Skaschool disco evening. The music was excellent, the pub was full and had a great warm atmosphere. Customers were dancing at their tables, at the bar and in front of the DJ. Even the staff were dancing as they served you. Another hit night at a great Dartford pub.

My dad and husband both drink here it's our local. Adam and the staff make you welcome and there's regular entertainment. A nice friendly little pub on our doorstep, great home cooked food and entertainment on top.

Adam and the staff at the Bird in Hand are the best by a long way, nothing is too much trouble for them and the friendly atmosphere is great. Lots of pub sports like darts pool bat and trap and anyone can join in. The food Adam serves at the pub is excellent and always large portions, you would never leave hungry. Try it for yourself and you will keep going back.

We organised a wonderful party here for my mums 60th, the buffet food was delicious, freshly made and nicely presented. Lovely staff too.

Great place for a drink and chat with friends. Also there has been some great music acts on Saturday evenings.

First time here and what a surprise I had, it was a lovely experience to find a proper English pub. It was spotless inside and out and the staff were relentless in doing their job. Please call in, if you need to park there are plenty of side streets. Food was excellent as well and all served with a very generous smile.

Have visited this pub a few times, and have had a lovely time everytime. Friendly staff & great entertainment. Only need to try the food to complete the picture....

Reviewed the pub before but thinks it deserves another one. Excellent food served daily (Not Mondays), the fish and chips on Fridays are just amazing. They have entertainment most weekends, from bands, dj and singers. Staff are friendly and always welcoming and serve quickly. nice little local.

This has now become my local after the past few years of going in and I can honestly say,I don't think I could possibly asked for anything else from my local pub fun,friendly atmosphere,great place to start a night out or have a night in there completely as plenty of entertainment going on,and if it's over the weekend I'd happily recommend a Sunday lunch but be warned you might not have to eat for a few days afterwards .Go on treat yourself and pay it a visit.You won't regret it.

The best roast ive ever had! The ploughman's is pretty special too! Every Friday they do Fish and chips, its always fresh and tastes amazing. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. A great family pub where I can take the children, they have a huge beer garden where the kids can play. The entertainment is first rate. Overall a brilliant pub!!!!

Visited with a group of friends during the summer. I ordered a pate ploughmans lunch, the food was heavenly and there was so much, I had two types of pate, as well as cheese and pork pie. The staff are friendly and care that you've enjoyed yourself, highly recommended

Amazing 2 course Sunday Roast. Excellent choice of meats and superb roast potatoes. Only reason Ive not given 5* is poor choice of desserts.

We enjoyed a good Sunday lunch at the Bird in Hand. The food was cooked to a satisfactory standard; the service was friendly; and most of all this pub provides exceptional value for money. Many families were enjoying their lunch and some took advantage of the outdoor facilities.Overall, a good experience and I would happily return.

my real only issue was the play area for kids, nothing special but good enough.But i found a rather large dog turd sat right at the bottom of the slide when 10 kids were about to use. i feel dogs shouldnt be allowed to roam freely in a kids area

I have reviewed the Bird in Hand before and have visited several times since, but I feel it is worth another mention as there is now more food available and the entertainment is better than ever.The first thing I always notice is how clean the pub is, it certainly has a looked after feeling. The food is always freshly prepared and excellent value for money. They have various pub teams that are always ready to welcome new players and a quiz on a Thursday night.If you haven't been yet - give it a go!!!

Lovely family pub. Excellent entertainment daily and that's just the landlord - ha ha! Seriously though great pub, fantastic food and a great bunch of locals. Pub quiz, Bat and Trap during summer months and nightly entertainment. What more do you want - drinks! Good variety of ales - Kent styley !
