My first review of this place was 5 years ago and I never returned due to not great tasting chips. I returned the other day and WOW! What a difference! Now they are serving some of the best tasting chips in the area. Fish tasted OK with a good crispy batter. Portion sizes are so so. Fish prices are reasonable. Some of the other menu items seem overpriced.

Not being local, I checked the reviews before I ordered. Some reviews didn't fill me with confidence, but there were far more happy customers than not. So, based on the many good reviews, I gave the Big Fry Fish & Chip Shop a try. I visited on a Thursday evening. Cod, chips, peas & ketchup £13. The cod was a9 very good standard. Crispy batter, meaty flaky white flesh cooked perfectly. Cooked perfectly as in, it wasn't wet or too dry. Just right. One review states the fish was wet, mushy & not cod. I appreciate this was someone else's experience. However, my fish was neither wet nor mushy & it was most definitely a former member of the Gadidae family/genus Gadus. The chips looked a little pale on my visit, but they were cooked perfectly & tasted great. Proper chippy chips! ( Could they've just renewed the fats/oils in the friers? Some chippies do this on a Thursday to the best of my very limited knowledge?) Anyway, based on my visit, I can recommend the Big Fry Fish & Chip Shop, Egham. If the quality of the food I received is consistent at this establishment, then you should be very happy with the service & product you receive...

Unfortunately the food was not as good as it was the last time I ordered but the delivery service was perfect

I never have a bad experience at Big Fry. The food is always delicious and the staff are always friendly. All the food is reasonably priced and having the app to click and collect makes ordering so much easier. My only criticism is I wish they served gluten free food more days in the week so my husband could enjoy it more

I followed delivery on map and waited outside my house. Driver arrived bit ignored me.He then turned around and drove off in the direction he had come from and stopped at end of the road. Spoke on phone, gave him directions but he stayed there. Food

Ordered cod and chips with a plain sausage . For my partner and I. The sausage was a battered one not plain. Also my partner doesn't like fish why did the sausage not come in a seperate box?The batter was not crispy on the fish and the sausage was soggy and didn't look very cooked. Not nice at all

Our food was cold. On the receipt said it left the shop 30 mins before it got to us. When looking on tracking the driver was on the other side of egham by pooley green. It’s a 6 min drive to the shop if I wasn’t new to the area I would have drove! So taking 30 mins to deliver a cold dinner is ridiculous

The food arrived 2 hours after we ordered and was not fresh. A driver was not assigned for a long time and then was waiting at the shop for ages too.

Order saveloy and chips 2 x and it was disgusting! The saveloy were freezing in the middle and watery! Couldn’t even eat the chips because they tasted like they had been sat out and gone bad ! Wouldn’t order from here! And overprice !!!

Had cod and chips last night. Cut open the cod and looked different to normal. Pure Mush. if you are charging and saying cod. Please make sure you are selling the right product. Will never use this place again.

Always use Big Fry in Egham even though I live in Staines. Tonight’s haddock and chips has to go down as some of the best I’ve had. Lovely fresh white fish and great crispy batter. Well done guys!!

Ordered large cod, I'd struggle to say it was medium size. No salt and vinegar (but I did forget to state on the order) crispy batter. I didn't enjoy and won't order from there again

AVOID AT ALL COSTS I called beforehand to order I arrived 10 minutes after as the lady on the phone said and proceeded to wait another 30mins when I got there! They hadn’t even started preparing my order when I arrived and had to put a frozen pie in the oven!!! I waited for so long and nothing was even said to me!! I would personally avoid! Overpriced and awful service

Best Fish and Chip shop in Egham and surrounding area!

Some of the best fish and chips I have had for a very long time. They lost a star for the frankly abysmal service. The lady who served me couldn't care less that I was there. She tutted when I walked in and sighed at everything I ordered - a very odd experience considering the completely delicious food. I'm pleased I persevered through the service.

Really nice chips - very much needed on a rainy Sunday! Food is warm, even after the 10min walk home, packed well so no spills. Great location to walk to - there are a few parking spots on the road side but don't rely on them being available.

This is our go to fish and chips shop. Always good quality cod and plenty of chips. 10/10

The burger in this place is absolutely phenomenal. They also kindly battered us a saveloy which was delicious. Much better food and service than golden cafe opposite.

British comfort food at its finest. Haddock and chips with a battered sausage went down a treat. Go here if you're in Egham.

Order was wrong when taken even after being checked by a second member of staff. I get it new staff need training but surely a 2nd person should be able to take the order correctly. Then when asked what was needed it was then cooked incorrectly and had to wait for additional food. Then I was charged incorrectly and over charged but I couldn't wait as kids needed to eat. When I got home they had missed out bacon on the burgers 😆 but OK I can live without that. Food was cold and had to be reheated, burgers had all the grease amalgamated in the top bun which was nasty. And had to cook more home chips for kids as they hadn't put them in the tub/box. Scampi was hot but wet/sweaty so all the breadcrumb came off. All in all not great. They were busy ill give them that... they also tried to get it right but didn't. Even after speaking to 3 members of staff.

Disappointed. Fish was super greasy and the chips looked like they had been sat for hours. Will give it the benefit of the doubt as we've had some great food in the past. Hopefully my next visit will provide a better eating experience.

Great quality and decent portions, but I'm sure I've come home to find a regular Cod, rather than the large I ordered, on quite a few occasions. Scampi is amazing, but pricey. Update: I did have food poisoning after eating chicken from here in summer 2022, which lead to me being in great pain and hospitalised. The medical opinion was that the chicken would have been the cause due to my symptoms. Chicken probably safer if it was deep fried, but they don't do that here for some reason and it looks anaemic and not very appetising. Stick to the fish!

It was a delivery of Fish & Chips - what more can you say about it. Far from our favourite meal but we were a bit stuck yesterday evening, so it sufficed. A Very expensive meal and the Bag Fee and Service Charge are just a further annoyance.

In fact I still have not received it 24 hours later and you are refusing to refund my money. I left detailed delivery instructions and my details are up to date on my account. I received a text from the driver to say that the driver was outside my house and ringing my bell - he was not. I walked down the road to see if he was there. He was not. I have applied for compensation and it was refused because your agent claimed that my details were incorrect - they most definitely were not!

Food arrived just before time to arrive. Arrived hot and the food was also wrapped in foil to keep the heat in. .we ordered, chips, a battered and a plain sausage, curry sauce and some onion rings. All really lovely, my only grumble was that the batter on the onion rings had a fishy taste. Now I don't mind fish, but for anyone who doesn't like fish I think it would be an issue. Maybe too close to the fish or using the same oil and batter? All in all I would order from here again

So expensive, same price 4× portion at King's in staines. Its actually criminal the prices here, could go to an actual restaurant and have a drink for the price.

The service and atmosphere are pretty awful, but it's a chippy, so I wasn't expecting anything. The fish and chips though are definitely the best in the area.

This is my second order and once again I'm not disappointed. The food was hot and tasty. Great service. Can't wait for the family to visit so we can all appreciate the quality of the food.

Maybe prioritise the people that actually bother to visit your shop? Rock and Roe or even Smiles in Stainash Parade MUCH better options...
