Really delicious and very friendly helpful staff. Impressed with the recyclable containers and the gravy is great. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Disappointing, small portions. Ordered 2 x large cod and 2 x portions of chips. Received 1 large and one small cod with meagre chips. Quality was good but small portions really not worth the price of £23+. Been visiting here on/off for years but slowly getting worse value. I understand the current pressure of inflation but should not be serving up small cod and charging for large. Won’t be back.

The lady behind the counter was unhelpful and rude , when I went to put the (overpriced) meal in the bag she put on counter she grabbed it back saying you cant have that. She then tried to charge me for a co-op bag...which is illegal. Avoid....can see why its rating is so poor

Extremely disappointed with the response from this restaurant considering we order regularly! After receiving my order an hour after ordering I discovered 1 whole ordered meal was missing! I called the restaurant to inform them and their reply was ‘ were too busy to send the missing meal, sorry!’ So consequently everyone with a meal didn’t want to eat it as mine hadn’t been delivered! The food that was delivered was greasy and the chips weren’t chips, they were the bits that get left at the bottom of frying, I paid over £50 on Uber eats for 4 meals, thankfully they did refund me £7.50 however the restaurants attitude I found unacceptable!

Disappointing. You can find better food and service elsewhere. Tried to pre-order but it was hard work over the phone, very disorganised and then the order was lost.

Take away UBA delivered, Chips like eating soggy cold boiled potatoes, fish quality good, but little batter was patchy what was there was soggy and fish cold , third time ordered from big fry three strikes and you are out. £16 for one meal think again.Cold food could be due to UBA or not freshly prepared, but chips and batter down to chippy. My wife's review disgusting.

Probably the greasiest fish I have ever tried to eat, the batter was thick and holder all the grease so disgusting …plus ended up with iffy tummy , curry sauce lumpy and looked like lentil soup also disgusting Get your act together if you can’t batter fish without it being stoggy and greasy throw the towel in !!!!!!!

I purchased £45 worth of fish and chips for the family and it was terrible. No one could eat it. It was so greasy. The batter on the cod was so thick and very greasy it was un edible. The curry sauce was disgusting and no one could eat it. We have all ended up with bad stomachs and will never go there again.

We have had fish and chips for a large group from here a few times, the fish is usually ok, but the chips not so good. I thought that might be because they have been big orders. Unfortunately not - 3 portions ordered the other day, once again fish ok, absolutely dreadful chips sadly. Cold, limp, mainly just thin strips of crusty fat. I only actually had about four chips. What a shame.

We’ve eaten from them before and it was okay but on this occasion I was left waiting for half an hour and then when we got home the food was cold and the portions wasn’t what we ordered, we ordered a large cod and chips which looked more like a regular and then a sausage and chips which looked like a kids meal, my gravy I ordered looked like dirty dish water. Never going back there again lost our business

Visited the Big Fry last week after not buying fish and chips from them for more than two years. That visit ended in the order going into the food waste bin as the fish was badly burnt. I decided that I had ignored this place for long enough and I would give it another try as most reviews were good. Wrong choice! The whole meal smelt and tasted of old cooking oil and was inedible. After a few mouthfuls it too went into the food waste bin. I shall not buy from the Big Fry again!

Always a pleasure, we will make a point of stopping in if we’re passing by. The Family deal is excellent value for money too!

Ordering system is a shambles. Preordered for a reason, am told ready in 5mins, arrive to wait 15mins. Happens repeatedly. More frustrating than its worth

Anytime I want fish and chips I always pop into the the big fry it’s like a 30 min drive but worth it for me. Very friendly staff and hands down best fish and chips around. Crispy and succulent. Big love to big fry

the Egham store is my local chippy and normally very good quality and service. Post lockdown, quality remains but the service has dropped considerably. And its the basics of getting the order right. First a missing chips portion and now 5 chicken chunks and not 6. I feel now I will need to check the order before leaving the shop which will cause delay and annoy staff and queues. Is this store under new management? Such a shame and now contemplating travelling further to get my take out!

Called in a few weeks ago for Fish & Chips. Two of us had the Large Haddock & Chips, and one the Large Cod& Chips. Has to be the largest Fish we have ever had! Superb! Lovely helpful staff (especially Josh), all cooked fresh. Highly recommended.

Been looking forward to this all week. The chips are recooked, the fish was soggy and tasteless. Also ordered salt and pepper squid which was frisky and bland. Birthday treat for my young son ruined - Won’t be returning!

This place has amazing fish and chips Would definitely recommend, it even has things for people who don’t like fish and chips like myself the chicken chunks are so amazing. My mum also loved the gluten free fish and chips she was finally able to have fish and chips and enjoy it and it didn’t even taste different which makes it even better. Definitely would recommend

Partner and I had a quick cheeky chippy dinner. Cheesy chips and 1/4 pounder. Was delicious whilst on the train home!

I hadn't been to this Chippy for some time as I work in the area and to be honest there is so much choice.Went for lunch last week and looked what was on the hot plate ready to go and surprised myself by asking for the fish cake with some chips. Probably the first fish cake from a chippy I have had in over 10 years and I have to say it was lovely. It not only tasked good but for me more importantly it was lovely and crisp and not greasy. The chips were very good as well so all in all a good lunch and I will be going back a bit sooner this time. Oh and I should mention that the chap working was very friendly and when he was joined by an older lady they were chatty and happy in their work. Makes a difference!.

Friendly staff and the fish was white and meaty (had large cod and haddock) both were cooked whilst we waited chip portions average overall good would return

I've rated this establishment highly in the past but I have to say I have become more and more disappointed of late. The quality of the chips is dependent on who's cooking, I've even been there when they've fried up chips especially as I was the only person in the shop to find out when I got home they were dry and shrivelled and not anywhere near the standard I'd come to expect. This place can be very good if they put their mind to it but the quality has got variable.The reason for writing this now is because this evening was the final straw. I stood at the counter to place my order and I was left waiting for a good two minutes while the two ladies behind the counter had a private conversation. I walked out without placing an order, I felt that level of ignorance was unacceptable.They're not the only fish and chip shop in the area, I'll be going somewhere else in future.

Picked fish and chips up for 5 people, 1 was gluten free. Gluten free cod and chips tasted nice, but was very unwell the following day, making me think the fish and chips were not totally gluten free. Standard cod and chips x 3, all very overcooked and ‘large’ chips were very smallRock fish was also very over cooked Also ordered two portions of mushy peas, which we were charged for, but were not included. Didn’t notice until we unpacked at home, so didn’t go back to get them Overall really disappointing

Had the best fish & chips I’ve had for a long time, batter crisp and piping hot. Staff pleasant, made conversation while I waited as it’s all cooked fresh. Would highly recommended. Enjoy 😊

First time we tried this chippy and I must admit it was in my top 3 chippy's I've been too. The service was excellent all freshly cooked. Good portions This chippy is well worth a visit it will not disappoint.

Just a very good local fish and chip shop. Crispy batter that is never soggy, great chips too. Just nice and fresh and love that its my local, defo the best in the area.

Having been involved in an event with under privileged children our caters had let us down. I turned up at the Big Fry with a reasonably large order without any prior warning. The staff were unphased by all this and cooked my order without any fuss. The food was wrapped in foil in a box so it stayed hot until I returned to my venue,

I spend much of my time abroad and the one thing I look forward to coming Home is the Big Fry in Egham. It's a few miles from me and there other shops much closer but the Big Fry in Egham beats all others down. Beautifully cooked and so fresh every time. the Man in the picture says it all - he's from Ghana and has that sensitivity to ensure that the food is never over or undercooked with that golden crispy batter avoiding fat saturation. I should add that I've been going to the Big Fry for several years, never a complaint, only praise. Incidentally, the do a good Senior Citizens discount.

Crecí en el pescado y patatas fritas y he comido en algunas de las ciudades "Chippies" votado como el mejor, pero ninguno de ellos es tan bueno como Grande Fry. Nunca he tenido un chip grasienta aquí, el cod es siempre perfectamente cocinado y el bateador es impecable. Además, el personal es muy agradable y nunca he tenido una razón para quejarse.

El pescado estaba recién preparado para nosotros y tienen gran empanada crujiente sin exceso gungy bits. El pescado por dentro estaba húmeda y precario como debería ser. Había un montón de ofertas para estudiantes, personal de servicios de emergencia y las personas mayores. Los 2 chicos que trabajaba allí era amable y profesional. Sólo he estado aquí una vez, ya que no soy local, pero muy recomendable! Se trata de una toma de distancia sin asientos.

Was looking forward to trying this chippie out as it is local & also tried to d/load the menu on-line but that link was not working. Well, the fish was meaty & white but the batter fell off the fish as soon as a knife was put through it so at least a quarter of the batter ended up in the bin, the chips were good enough but we must have got the ''end-bits' more than the 'fat' bits. Will certainly try it again in the future but in the meantime the hunt goes on for the 'Perfect Chippie'!!

Fuimos en enero para llevar. Anunciado como una noche gratis, sin embargo, Gluren personal son claramente deficiente en la formación y comprensión acerca de la importancia de la no contaminación cruzada. Miembro del personal que sirve mi orden colocó el Gluten salchichas en la cima de una tarta! Cuando se dijo que tendría que hacer la salchichas de nuevo que era un maleducado y no mostraban ninguna comprensión de lo que estaba mal. A pesar de mi advertencia y peticiones resultó más tarde que mi esposa tuvo un grave ataque esa noche, celiacos comiendo la comida me pareció y espera que han sido reprepared! Llamé al gerente al día siguiente a quejarse y no conseguí llamar, escribió a la oficina principal para explicar y advertir del problema y han sido ignorados. Esto no es aceptable para un establecimiento de comida que anuncia sin gluten! ¡Cuidado!

Had a lovely meal here last night, would highly recommend..Onion rings were cooked to perfection and so was the chicken burger. Staff are also friendly. Never disappointed when I buy a meal from here. My favourite fish and chip shop

More than happy to travel to get great tasting Fish & Chips from Big Fry, it's very popular and cooks to order so the food is fresh and hot! The only thing that gets me is the portion sizes for the chips are stingy, a large portion won't be enough for two hungry adults.

I should have known better and walked out when a customer returned complaining his chips were cold. They were replaced but no apology was forthcoming.In the event, my chips were cold too. By contrast my large cod was piping hot ( the cook was testing all fried fish with a thermometer) but it was so overcooked that it was dry and flavourless. A quite appalling waste of what looked to have been a lovely piece of fish. To cap it all the mushy peas though tasty were but tepid. As I said I should have known better. Never again.

I am not a big fish and chips fan, but this place does make them well. They are fast, fresh and inexpensive. They offer lots of discounts (for students, senior citizens, families, etc). A family of four could eat here for £14. They have a large menu which includes things like burgers, sausage, chicken, cod, squid and haddock. They also offer sides like chips, mushy peas, pickled eggs and gherkins.

Really enjoyed the Fish and Chips from Big Fry. There was a queue and it took a while but the food was freshly cooked and worth the wait. Awesome take-away and the staff are really friendly, we will definitely be back.

Had a family meal out of here, and I love the fact its all cooked fresh. That said, i had a large cod and i have had much larger portions at other chip shops, and the large chip portions are not really large, which is a shame as it meant i had to order more than I wanted to feed the family.So good fresh food, average portions and watch out for paying the extra for the large cod its not really large at all.

You can't go wrong with them, they know their business, there is no other fish and chip shop outside London that know how to cook like this

People travel quite a way to get their F&C from here. Great batter, hot food and it is so busy that food is cooked fresh nearly every time. They also offer discount for the Armed Forces so extra brownie points!

Came here a few months ago and was abit disappointed the man who does the cooking at the back is soooo miserable!. And I asked for jumbo sausage instead they gave me half a sausage and said no that is jumbo sausage I said no it not! Then they got my order wrong gave me 1 extra bag of chips was not what I asked for I wanted 2 bag of chips fish cake sausages and curry sauce. Instead of fish cake I got extra bag of chip. I didn't know till I got home I was disappointed. The female staff who work there seems to not understand me very much either. She was also touching her face and hair and still serving people foods. Probably would come back but I will double check what I ordered

There is an art to making great fish n’ chips – and Big Fry has it! Caleb and his team know their cooking - not greasy, not under-cooked, not over-battered - and definitely not over-priced. Friendly staff, customer focussed. Great team work. We’ve been going there for 4-5 years. What’s not to like!

Certainly the best gluten free fish and chips I have had! Whilst initially it was an exciting novelty, the fact that there is little gluten free options in Egham has lead it to being more than just a novelty. On both Mondays and Tuesday you can request for gluten free fish and chips however, I would advise a call ahead, due to the meal being cooked fresh it might take up to 20 minutes. Light but crunchy batter with a great portion size, easily enough for either lunch or dinner and as far as the texture goes, I would say it beats non gluten free everyday! The service matches the food and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Whenever we use their service we are always greeted with a smile and a friendly word. The staff are very customer-oriented and this really encourages one to come again. The fish and chips are always cooked to perfection. Extremely good value for money. Well done to you all!

I really enjoyed the meal. The fish was well cooked, and the chips was prepared well and smelt good. The curry sauce was delicious and I had enough chips with the cod.I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

My wife and I have been frequenting Big Fry for a couple of years now and we are die hard fans of the fish and the eatery in general. I am somewhat surprised to read the indifferent reviews as I have found the fried haddock simply excellent. The entire outlet with its servers and fryers ably led by the excellent Caleb Agyemang do everything to provide excellent fried fish and service. Caleb is a master fryer. I only ever order haddock and have noticed how meticulous Caleb is in ensuring the timing of the fry is properly monitored no matter how much quantity of fish and chips he is frying. He also takes a temperature reading to ensure the fish is totally cooked. I find the batter consistently light and crispy. I cannot vouch for the chips as I have stopped eating chips for many years. All the staff are friendly and do their best to provide first rate service. Whenever I have come around rush times the number of customers waiting is always a good barometer of the success of an eatery! Recently Caleb introduced fish caught using line and pole. Keep up the good work!

Just too hit and miss, some times chip portions are tiny! Sometimes fish is beautiful and others totally dry! Final straw was waiting half and hour for 2 simple meals, they just wern't prepared to serve 6-8 customers at once!

I went there yesterday, the girl serving me kept touching her nose very off putting. i oreded med cod, chips and curry sauce. the fish was undercooked and batter was chewy. the chips were fine, curry sauce forget about it. if they know they are busy why not make a few fishes and place in the display so that the fish can let the oil drip out and cook to perfection. avoid this place

use a lot but avoid going in on a Wednesday as long wait inmature staff that always messing about last visit fryer was out back was called came blew smoke out his mouth didn't wash his hands and fish was burnt and only 1 working at front why young girl out bk didn't come to help that why long wait will use again just not on a Wednesday

Bought fish and chips and scampi and chips one Friday night, and got home to find the fish missing! Check contents before leaving the premises!!! How hard can it be when fish and chips is the thing you do?!

Visited this busy chip shop 13/4. Food tasted fine cod and chips but a tiny portion of chips left me hungry. Only about half a dozen chips under a small portion of chips. Shop busy and clearly short of supplies. Not good value

Spent a long time with out fish and chips due to being Coeliac, now, however, Big Fry do Gluten Free fish and chips every Monday.All cooked to order, taste is great, better that the regular F&C that I used to eat and most importantly for me I have never been made ill from incorrect handling or cross contamination.Highly recommend to regular eaters and Coeliacs alike.10/10

Not healthy but a great place to eat if you are feeling like a treat. Huge huge portions with plates that barely fit on the table but everything is freshly cooked . Always seems to be a new waitress so not sure why that is

We always use to go there to get our fish and chips but one time some woman gave me half of sausage and not large she said it is large and I said no it's small! And then they keep messing up the order I asked for 2 box of chips with savaloy they ended up giving me 2 boxes of chips and another 2 box with chips and 2 savaloy think they don't understand English half time

If you fancy a fish n chip takeaway this is the place to come. Huge portions, always brilliantly cooked and the chips aren't the awful soggy cardboard pieces most other places serve. Yum!

The best fish and chips in Egham. I was really surprised when I got my haddock and it was big enough to do two meals.

I used to love having my fish & chips from here but now the portion sizes have just got smaller & smaller; both for cod & the chips. Shame the prices haven't followed suit & got smaller too!I remember within the past 5 years I'd have felt full after eating the portions but now I'm left wanting something more.Might have to hop in the car & pop over to Wraysbury; there's a decent shop that a way =>

Very nice and tasty,we didn't fancy the meal at the Burlington so went across the road and enjoyed our fish & chips at the sea front,watching thee sea.

I have in the past given this fish and chip shop the very best revue because it was excellent.What has happened? I have given it the benefit of the doubt on four occasions in a row because we all have our off days and maybe staff problems etc. I cannot believe the change in quality of both fish and chips, especially the small portion of chips which is in a smaller box now for £1-65p.As the fish used is frozen and no longer fresh(no skin on frozen) there are no lovely flakes,just thin fish and a bit mushy. What a complete change from a few months ago.Perhaps this is the reason you no longer have to queue these days. I mean this revue to be constructive because I really miss those lovely fish and chips.

The fish and chips from this shop just gets better and better. We are never disappointed in the quality and size of the portions and it is nicely packed in a sturdy box so it is still nice when you get home. The chef is very efficient and copes extremely well when there is a queue. The staff are pleasant and efficient too.I would recommend The Big Fry with no hesitation.

We are never disappointed with whatever we have had from here it's always well cooked by efficient, friendly staff in a spotlessly clean shop. Without a doubt the best take away in the area for great fish and chips, highly recommended.
