Big Bowl Noodle Bar in Liverpool

We both went here last night we had spring roll starters and a beer each I had beef and a hot garlic sauce my wife had garlic and chilli chicken with chips I had fried rice large portions 30 pounds and sixty absolutely class food thank you guys two very happy customers 😊

Really disappointed with the food I had here. The Tom Yum soup had fake crab sticks in and was just like really hot spicy water.

The decor looks a little outdated but wow if you want authentic chinese food this is the place to be! Try the Big Bowl dish if you fancy a massive portion that will leave you satisfied all night! A big menu of selection and something for everyone!

The special soup is EXCELLENT. Its a great place ,a canteen kind of place which has snappy service and watching the food go out to other tables is mouth watering and you just want to have everything. My favorite restaurant. Excellent for say six people then you can order different things and have bit of everything. Sometimes there's a short wait to get in but that says it all.

I have been to The Big Bowl many times and thoroughly enjoyed it. On this occasion as usual the food was delicious but staff proceeded to put chairs on the empty tables, sweep and then mop the floor whilst people were eating. One table was literally 6 inches away from our table. This was a birthday luncheon for my friend and I was quite disappointed. As I said the food was delicious and would recommend.

We haven’t been for a couple of years as moved out of Liverpool but nothing has changed since we were last here. Walked in and greeted John like our old friend, staff attentive and food amazing. I recommend BBNB to anyone who asks where is good to eat in Liverpool . We remember the original BBNB further down Berry Street and feel fortunate to have enjoyed lovely meals there. If you want authentic Chinese food where the local Chinese community goes, you won’t be disappointed. Love that this restaurant is in my home city. Write a note and put it under the table glass as a momento, lovely little quirk that is synonymous with the BBNB. John, please don’t change because your formula is a winning one 😋.

Never fails to impress. Food is always top notch and the service is welcoming but not over bearing. Just under £26 for two with a starter and main plus some Chinese tea. Hard to beat this place!!

Order our food tonight, set meal soup came and we had side plates for the next part had a big black hair on it, kindly said sorry won't be using these, he took them away and replaced them immediately, then we had our soup was lovely, as we finished I was helping the staff move the plates, my bottle of tiger fell on the floor and was all over my arm of my top, ask another member of staff if they had a hand dryer after using napkins to dry my arm, to his reply what do you want me to do shouting across the restaurant, very rude wouldn't get a manager, made a show of me my husband and himself, terrible customer service, only coming out for a meal and relaxing far from it, it's so unprofessional and shouldn't be in this line of work I am absolutely speechless, and no one was bothered the way he was speaking to us i was fuming. Very upset just couldn't believe we was treated this way. Ask for the till and payed and left in total shock 😲

Went here tonight before a show in town on our daughters recommendation. Absolutely fantastic meal, seated quickly even though it was rammo kablamo two main meals, big bowl noodles (dry) and belly pork dish, obviously fresh ingredients cooked really well and such a large portion cannot fault it, staff really attentive and friendly, cannot wait to return, all this with a couple of nice beers for £30 Is practically taking the mick. Highly recommend.

Any time I visit Liverpool, I always make a point of going here, And for me this is the best chinese in Liverpool. The portions are massive and cost is very reasonable. And also all the staff are very helpful. The only advice I can give is if you plan to visit at the weekend. Much better you phone and make a reservation. Already looking forward to my next visit. 10/10

We went for a Chinese meal one night after getting off the plane and our usual was closed. We found Big Bowl noodle bar across the road and have been going there ever since. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Fabulous atmosphere and always busy.

Visited here during a visit to the city and so glad we did. Staff were friendly, witty and so efficient. Relaxed atmosphere obviously frequented by regulars and easy to see why. Delicious freshly prepared food with prompt service. Amazing value for money ( 2 starters 2 mains and a bottle of wine for less than £40!!!) had to ask for a doggy bag as the portions are really generous. Delicious food. Excellent, quick service with a smile. No frills. We had the big bowl rice (fried rice and mixed meat) and crispy noodles. Both were huge and we couldnt get though it all sadly, but needless to say, it was good value for money. For starters we had the mixed share platter and char sui bun. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Well worth a visit especially as the China Town proper seems to be on the decline.

We've been here many times. The food is always so good and the portions are huge, especially given the price. You get so much for your money. The flavours and atmosphere are all authentic and the service is great.

Visited Liverpool one weekend and decided to drop by Big Bowl Noodles. We love the black pepper udon with chicken, so ordered that and also a bowl of fried rice with duck, char siew, chicken and veg. The portions are very generous. The noodles, while tasty, wasn’t quite the same as the pieces of chicken used to be fried. This time, they seemed to be shredded and the noodles were a bit wetter. The bowl of friend rice, which very generous with the portions of meat, was actually quite lacking in flavour. There was a big birthday party there, and we opted to swap seats so there was some degree of distancing. Good place to visit for filling meals.

Portion sizes are good. And food is great, been a few times now, meat is tender and veg is fresh. Nothing worse than a soggy pepper.

Die to covid, its been a long while since I last came to eat here and I wasn't disappointed. Had a small sharing platter then a bowl of noodle with braised beef, rice and duck. The beef was so soft it was delicious. Unfortunately we didn't start on the rice n duck so we had that taken out. Which is a great thing, as the portions can be big, especially if you order the Big Bowl, mine was normal.I would defo recommend this place. I've been dining at this restaurant for years and I can honestly say it is by far the best in Liverpool. The decor isn't fantastic, but who cares, the food, hospitality and price point more than make up for that.Totally recommended, just go and try for yourself!!!

Lugar muy limpio. Personal muy servicial y agradable. El cordero no es así. Tenía el cordero al curry y mi padre tenía un arroz frito con pollo. Mirando hacia atrás, debería haber tenido lo mismo que él o algo fideo. El cordero era muy graso, no había muchas piezas decentes para decir lo mínimo y el curry muy pesado. El arroz frito estaba bien. Así que terminé dejando la mitad de mi comida. La sopa agridulce que he tenido allí muchas veces antes fue absolutamente fantástica, como de costumbre, es una pena que el principal decepcionara la comida. También hay muchas escaleras para llegar a los baños, por lo que si tiene dificultades para subir las escaleras, es posible que tenga un problema. Tal vez suene antes de irse, ya que no vi un baño en la planta baja. Volveré allí, pero definitivamente no comeré el cordero.

He estado varias veces en este lugar. El personal siempre es educado y servicial. El lugar siempre está limpio. Las comidas que he tenido allí siempre han sido agradables, pero el cordero al curry no estaba a la altura de sus estándares normales. El curry era muy espeso y el cordero estaba muy grissely. Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que comí cordero tan mal, así que realmente no pude comer la comida. Mi más lejos tenía el arroz frito con pollo que realmente disfrutó y siempre obtienes porciones decentes por tu dinero. Lo que por lo que teníamos fue muy bueno y razonable. Creo que si decido volver a ir en el futuro, me limitaré solo a los fideos. La sopa agridulce también es muy buena. Esperemos una mejor visita la próxima vez.

Been a few times through the years and visited again this weekend. Hub's fave is the black pepper udon and we ordered that and a black bean sauce flat noodle dish. Also salt and pepper tofu and pan fried dumplings. The starters were tasty, they were served piping hot & I preferred the tofu to the dumplings. The black pepper chicken udon was really tasty as the chicken were fried before hand & crisp. The beef and black bean hor fun wasn't bad but would have been nicer if they used thicker noodles. In general the mains are really generous. They haven't updated their opening times on sites so it only opened at 12 rather than 1130. There were hand sanitiser stations and a one way system. For test and trace they handed a folder over for us to enter our details which raises data protection concerns as we could see the details others entered & they would be able to see ours as well. We will no doubt return for more chicken udon noodles in future!

We ordered a take away with high expectations. We had some starter items and soup, which were great and put it in good mood for the rest of the meal. However the main was boring and bland. One of the sauce dishes just tastes like gravy. We were charged extra to have noodles with our meal which were massively overcooked, burnt and clumped. Considering this cost £30 for not a lot of food I am very disappointed and won't be planning on ordering here again.

My wife and I come from Liverpool but now live in France. We tend to make two visits per year to see our family.We always visit Liverpool City centre and our first thought of food leads us to the the Big Noodle Bar - We have been visiting the bar for the last three years. The food has always been fantastic, great range of foods with a service which is second to none. The staff are always friendly and always ready to give advice on the fab menu.We hope to visit Liverpool this coming May our first call of food will be The Grand Bowl. Roll on May, can't wait. Have been to Big Bowl almost 20times throughout the years, so much so that it has become a staple. The portions are very big and very cheap for what is given. The food is scrumptious and although the restaurant may not scream high class it is one of my favourite places to eat in the whole of Liverpool.

Just back from Big Bowl noodle bar ; me & my mate just back from walking around the Caravan and motorhome Show in Event City Manchester all day and were starving !!We had soup, dim sum and a huge Big Bowl rice with five meats & a fried egg.The bill for both of us was £37 Inc a sprit & jasmine tea.As you can see from the photo the portions are huge and everything is cooked fresh to order.The clientele is a equal split between Chinese and savvy locals who know a bargain.And although in some Chinese restaurants/cafes language differences can make for perceived "poor service" not so here.I'm torn in posting this cos it will only make it harder to get in in the future.But credit given where credit is due

It's only cheap if you order a "big bowl" and nothing else, otherwise, it's no cheaper than any other restaurant I've ever been to. Service was good. The setting is fairly basic and has a cafe feel about it. The "big bowl" is far more than most people could manage and I do think a lot of food must be binned throughout the day. They sell on quantity over quality. I'd eat here again but it's nothing special.

Wow portions so huge for sucha little money. I had tofu noodles for £7.5 which could easy be shared between 2 people, I could only eat about 1/3 of it, asked for take away box for homeless person. Good and quick service. Highly recommended.
