Great place and friendly helpful staff. Couldn’t fault a thing. The kids meals were good sized portions , I had a fish finger sandwich and other half had a breakfast which were all good quality. We will definitely return.

I had the vegetarian breakfast and swapped the tomatoes for extra toast. The breakfast was lovely and tasty. My friends also enjoyed their waffles and yogurts.

Excellent bar/cafe to stop at for a light lunch. The crab sandwiches were good, but the scampi was fantastic. Happy kids = happy parents!

Had a takeaway as kids were playing in the adjacent splash pad. Scampi and onion rings were absolutely delicious and the kids demolished the chips. A tad pricey but very convenient for splash pad visit

Delicious food, quick service and friendly staff. Slightly overpriced but expected as on the seafront.

Stopped off for a light lunch whilst walking the coastal path. A simple soup was delicious with loads of bread. Friendly manager and lovely setting made for a perfect stop. Totally recommended.

A visit to Besty’s is a must when we come to Ventnor. The service is superb as is the food. The gent who appears to run it is always friendly, efficient and remembers us every year. The full English breakfast is a must, and if your arteries can handle it, have the fried bread too - delicious!

So we have been a few times now and always had fantastic service....till today! The attitude of the girl that served us was absolutely shocking. Our order was all wring and when we called her over to discuss, we were told we were wrong and we had what we ordered. We argued back with the menu, she disappeared and she never came back to discuss it with us. 15 mins later the missing items came out and the food we had already was cold. It pains me to say we won't be returning due to this which is so sad as the place is awesome!

Perfect. It was like the med. Children played within sight of parents, while the grownups could enjoy a tasteful drink in the micro climate of the Ventnor botanic Gardens. Some lovely local drinks on offer. Divine. Everyone was happy and we could have been anywhere exotic in the world, it would have felt just the same. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our daughter put what we all thought was salt on her lunch, it turned out someone had put sugar in the shaker as joke. When we made the staff aware they couldn’t apologise or do enough to make it right. They replaced her meal straight away with extras. Will definitely be returning.

Wonderful breakfast on our first day in Ventnor. The staff were very friendly. The food was great. And it was lovely to watch the sea as we ate.

Short visit to Ventnor we walked along the Esplanade came across Besty and Spikes ideal for a coffee lovely coffee we had lattes very good Friendly service. Well worth a visit.

I'm frequently travelling and usually get a Saturday breakfast, this one is by far the best. Gluten free - no problem here, plenty of it, good value and served with a smile. Add to all this pleasure a table overlooking the sea, what more could I want to start the day!

Having visited before on previous trips to the Isle of Wight .We have visited twice this week and found everything top class .very friendly service excellent food at a sensible price and disabled toilet facilities which are very accessible. Thank you and hope to visit again in 2024

great fish and chips, nice simple menu. Seating/table could have been better is only slight moan, but staff helpful and would deffo come back.

The menu says: ‘best scampi you’ll have’ and it was! It was fresh scampi encased in breadcrumbs and sesame seeds much much better than the frozen bag stuff you get with a typical pub meal. Very good.

Seemingly the only cafe open in Ventnor on a Sunday morning so bit of a captive audience etc. Still, nice location on the seafront, efficient quick service and a decent breakfast. It ticked most of the proverbial boxes, not especially cheap but reasonable quality ingredients....

Good value menu and large portioned hot and cold meals. Popular and clean establishment on seafront and friendly Bar/Waite ring staff. Hot drinks served in china instead of nearby places dishing theirs out in cardboard cups. .

Although the service was excellent I cannot say the same about my crab sandwich. There was very little crab but loads of some sort of sauce. Quite disappointing really. A crab sandwich should be just that, no sauce.

Ordered the crab baguette. When it came out it looked more like wet cat food. Hardly any flavour to it due to all the mushy mayo? Or whatever the sauce was. Will never order that fish again. Service was good tho.

Went in after an early morning fishing trip and was absolutely famished. We had their BIG breakfast and left fully satiated. Staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant was very clean and followed Covid rules without being anal.

Popped to Ventnor on a sunny Saturday morning and decided to try this place for a breakfast. Had plenty of seating outside , slighty smaller inside.We were asked to sign in and then we were found a table.Staff were all very friendly , efficient and could see thorough cleaning of areas.We ordered a vegetarian breakfast, the portions were ample but felt the quality of the food a bit poor.Hash browns were soggy and drenched in oil, mushrooms looked and tasted like tinned variety and the vegetarian sausage was a filling of sweetcorn ,peas.There are so many better varieties of veg sausages this was reminiscent of the 70's.Its a real shame as i could not fault the staff and location however i would of preferred a smaller breakfast of quality ingredients .

My wife isn't given to heaping praise upon restaurants so, when an establishment really goes the extra mile, it's something to behold. Yesterday proved to be just such an occasion as my wife consumed the finest bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich she has ever eaten. It was our first - and probably only - visit to Besty & Spinky's and they've earned our respect and admiration. My egg mayo baguette was just the job too, the service was friendly and prompt and the bill was very reasonable.

A wonderful Cafe serving fresh food, especially fish which is caught just across the road. Plenty of choice with Vegetarian and Vegan choices and mix and match breakfasts. Good value meals. This year they dealt with the restrictions so well that we felt comfortable and safe when our order was brought and put on a serving table where we could collect it without invading space of server who wore a visor. Cleaning was done efficiently and well with sanitising gel on every table and doorside. Very friendly and welcoming service

To our shame this was our first visit to Besty and Spinky cafe. We are locals and have heard many times from friends and family how good it is!They are correct!My husband and son had the delicious breakfast while I selected bacon and Cumberland sausage on brown toast.My husband ate his meal ravenously! Declared it delicious! He was prepared for his walk!We arrived at 9 o’clock ( opening time) and regulars were waiting. Within a half an hour tables were full!This cafe is in a lovely spot with sea views. There is seating inside and out. COVID regulations are well covered . I was particularly impressed with the idea of a free table beside each “ seating table” where staff served and collected plates!( genius idea).Staff are lovely and welcoming.This is not the cheapest breakfast but it was quality. The choice of dishes was wide.The owners deserve their reputation!

Just visited this cafe and have to say disappointed!! I know we’re in troubled times but the cost of their food was extortionate. £7.95 for tuna baguette was disgraceful. £4 for cheesy chips.... disgraceful. On top of that we had to wait for over 40 minutes. Good job I’m leaving tomorrow.

Always return here whenever we visit. Kids love splashing in the Isle of Wight paddling pool and food and drink always reasonably priced and good. Friendly service and plenty of outdoor seating

We came here on one of the hottest days to go in the pool and it was lovely. We did have to move tablets to get the eat out scheme but there was room so wasn’t too much of an issue. We ate then moved off back to the pool and spend half a day here. The tables were cleaner after each person and the food put on another tableFor you to collect your self which seemed really safe although the plates were hot lol but it was a lovely visit and really good prices :)

We have just returned from a week's break on the Island,and visited Besty and Spinky's four times!!! (and We we're stopping 10 miles away!)Twice for breakfast, and 2 lunchtime snacks(a bacon baguette, stuffed full of lean back bacon,and a Cumberland sausage(twice) baguette with onions and a ham sandwich,all good!!!)The Cumberland sausage was the best We have ever tasted!Staff polite and well organised with covid19 precautions yesterday the owner apologised that We had to wait when We arrived 20 minutes before opening time!!Would recommend wholeheartedly........We'll be back!!

Today was our first trip to Bestie and Spinky’s since March and we weren’t disappointed. As always the staff were polite and courteous, the food was good and the lay out of the cafe was designed to make everyone feel safe. All staff wearing masks and genius idea of having a serving table beside each dining table so no need to lean over customers. If you’re nervous about venturing out, head to Bestie + Spinky’s in Ventnor to help rebuild your confidence. Lot’s of tables outside to take in the view and takeaway available too

Excellent cafe bar. Breakfast well cooked and under present Covid conditions it was managed very well. Staff very helpful and polite. Would certainly recommend this place even just for a coffee if walking along ventnor beach front. Locals use it which is always a good sign.

What a fabulous place. Staff are lovely and really helpful when trying to get to grips with Covid eating out. All precautions in place making us feel safe and happy to be here. Staff in masks, sanitising gel available, tables well spaced and a one way system. The cafe is opposite the sea and there’s lots of people watching to be done. Food was delicious - good, hearty breakfasts at reasonable prices served without delay to the drop off/pick up table right next to yours. They’re managing beautifully. One of the beat omelettes I have ever had - cheese and mushroom with fresh salad and perfectly cooked chips. Lovely coffee.

Best breakfast ever, lovely attentive staff, Georgie was very patient with questions and the variations to the order a credit to the cafe, lovely views, the breakfast was the nicest I have ever had and enjoyed it so much we went twice on a four night break. Would recommend to anyone.

I went to Besty and Spinky’s cafe for a full english and a coffee. The portion was hearty and the service friendly. The team takes special care on handling and delivering the plates de to the covid19 situation, all this on a great sunny day for less than 10 quids. Excellent.

Called in Besty & spinky’s cafe for some lunch on our arrival to the island. Have got good safety measures in place, like the way they deliver your food and drinks to a separation table on the end for you to collect to keep social distance. Lovely range of food. Fish finger sandwich was massive and tasty, gammon sandwich had plenty of filling and the crab sandwich was really good. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

It is great that Besty & Spinky have found a way to open up under the new 2 Metre and other safety measures. They are open for reduced hours at the moment, providing breakfasts / brunches and lunches. You can phone to book and pick up your order, or you can drop by to order and take your food or drinks away. 2 Metre measures etc are in place. The food is as great as it ever was. (my favourite lunch is the hand cut gammon ham baguette with a portion of chips)Check their FB page for the menu, and the days / hours of opening.

Here is a tip: go for the freshly caught fish. You get two sorts with two sauces to go with them. You can eat in a seriously expensive restaurant and not get as good, for these fish have come only a few metres from the nearby sea and they have not overnighted anywhere on land.The other thing to say is that you get a very warm welcome.

I came into the cafe on Sunday in the morning with my granddaughter, although it was a busy day there, the catering and front of house staff were incredible. We ordered two breakfasts and drinks, which came half price with our meals! The young lady serving us was so lovely and chatty, she made sure we had everything we needed and were well looked after. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name however she had long blonde/brown hair and a lovely, smiley, welcoming face. Many thanks, Ron.

In there today and the food was very good. I was very impressed with the young member of staff and the way he dealt with a totally obnoxious customer that decided to sit at the end of a table in the doorway and then berate everybody that came in. He had far more patience with him than I did.

Lovely lunch fish goujons were great they went to the local fish haven to collect it . The scampi with special coating was brill to , will visit again the view paddling little pool for the kids was a perfect place for a sunny half term trip everyone as happy xxx

Was walking the promenade and needed a drink popped in to this place and immediately was greeted with a "hi are you ok "We ordered coffee and tea and it was served at our our table . The place was very warm and clean and staff were "were very good . we used the toilets which were very clean and modern and left with a Thank you". Thats all you need . Polite efficient people well done . When we return to isle of Wight we will certainly visit you again

A lovely looking, but quite pricey licensed cafe in a prime location close to the stunning seafront of Ventnor, that has indoor & outdoor seating & that sell a wide variety of food & drink to have in or to take away, cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, fish & chips, tea & coffee, ice creams plus much more.You find a table & take note of the number, chose what you want from the menu & then order at the counter when you're ready, i ordered the beer battered fish & chips with mushy peas & a cup of coffee with cream, i was told that the meal would be roughly a 30mins delay which i was ok with, my coffee was brought to me quite quickly, but after an hour I was still waiting for my meal which was obviously forgotten about, then when it did arrive the fish wasn't beer battered & not even boned properly as I found 3 very sharp ones, plus the packet chips were hard & very dry, the tartare sauce tasted horrible, disappointing & not worth the wait.

A comprehensive menu including local caught fresh fish, which was excellent.Service was polite and speedy. The views out to sea whilst dining were lovely.

Dropped for a spot of light lunch... portions are excellent and food is great quality. Prices are not cheap but portions most certainly make up for this.

Visited this morning with my wife and young son. We had vegetarian and meat breakfasts. The food was lovely and served hot. The poached eggs were absolutely perfect and was pleased to see that the vegetarian breakfast came with the really nice vegetable sausages and not quorn. The service was incredibly polite and no fuss was made out of requesting a couple of swaps. There was lots of menu options including several configurations for children. Easy close parking, and a seafront location directly overlooking the sea. The interior is lovely and spotlessly clean.

We were staying in a Hotel which didn't do Breakfast, but less than 100m away, at the Eastern end of the bay esplanade, was a lovely cafe which did Breakfast, and Brunch, and Lunch and Tea. We looked no further, and for our week in Ventnor went nowhere else for meals up to 5.00pm.

A full breakfast menu till 2.30 sets you up wonderfully. The staff will customise your food if request is doable. Service is friendly and efficient. We also had lunch there several times and the portions were amazing, freshly cooked (the fish being brought over from the Fishery across the road, brought in daily on the boats). Also a wide choice.

After a stroll along the front, it was nice to relax in the sunshine with a cup of tea & bacon sandwich. Fresh home cooked food. Very reasonably priced with friendly staff happy to accomodate customers requirements.

A great place for a bite to eat and relax in front of the beautiful sea front . You can watch the kids in the paddling pool whilst you feast on their legendary breakfasts . I had the pancakes with bacon and syrup. Nice service and reasonable prices. Just a tip breakfast stops serving at 11.30am

Only visited the once in the morning for the big Ventnor breakfast special. Excellent food and well served on time etc. You may find cheaper but certainly worth the money and location/view.

Me and the wife decided to pop down for a coffee and stood at the bar for a while before we were actually seen to! Young girl behind the bar seemed to pre-occupied on her phone to even notice us stood there and when she did notice us it didn’t stop her!! Just was given a filthy look by her! Being on her phone was far too important.Totally unprofessional. Seemed to be young kids running the place. Finally got seen to and was served an ok coffee thanks to the young man who rushed over to the till as soon as he saw me. Maybe employ some more experienced staff as quite clearly they have no customer service skills. What a shame, if they had older more professional people working there would’ve been nicer experience but it seemed like as they were clueless, instead of apologising for not noticing she ran to the back where I’m assuming she could go on her phone without the distractions of customers! God forbid they’re actually made to do work!! Wouldn’t have commented but it’s happened multiple times now, will stick to coming on a Monday when all the children are back in school I think .
