BEST WESTERN - Eglinton Arms Hotel in East Renfrewshire

I was in for coffee and cake with my friend. Carrot Cake is fabulous. Lovely attentive staff.

Been going here with my family for over a year now & alway's had exceptional dinners. Unfortunately me & my husband went last night for dinner & we were both so disappointed at our meals. Mine's was below lukewarm & pretty disgusting as potato's seemed frozen, not fresh. My husband ordered lasagne with garlic bread,no salad came with it & lasagne was just a SLICE not a whole portion obviously. I wasn't surprised when I asked the waitress if they had a new chef & she said yes. We visited in Aug for a family meal & the lasagne was a whole lot more with salad & garlic bread included. So, won't be visiting again until food gets better.

Food was really good stayed 2 night woucher deal 2 nights for price one night stay. Staff were all welcoming and friendly . Service in all areas was really amazing. We were greeted with dinner as part of our deal . Pizzas were great. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff bent over backwards to assist my partner to have pints of Tennant's from another part of hotel . Breakfast was standard but served quickly and enjoyed it. Bathroom was really cleaned amazing shower. Staff were all accommodating helpful and took the time to check you had everything you needed . Would definitely stay again and recommend anybody to stay over or have dinner of food . I had a burger meal with home made coleslaw and my partner had 3 starters including beer battered onion rings on last night it was fabulous. Coffee was available if you needed it in lobby. We ordered room service the first night this was brought quickly. Brilliant chilled stay. :)

I fancied tofu and chili stir fry this evening and a prawn kebab. And so glad I picked this from a great menu. The tofu was cooked perfectly and with so much Flavour , I was hooked on it from bite one. :)

From the moment I arrived here I received a very warm welcome. The staff are fantastic, the beer is great and the food is well above average. I opted for the Curry and I was not disappointed as I found out the chef is from Sri Lanka. Nice heat, chicken cooked to perfection. I am staying here but if I lived local I wiuld come here for the Curry alone.

Stayed the night which was great, comfortable beds, great shower, and the breakfast was fantastic. Will definitely stay again.

Had a long drive today and was a pleasure coming here. The reception guy was super friendly and helpful and a young girl called Alex made me a great coffee she was friendly and kind just what I needed after a hard days grafting :) great rooms in this hotel to clean and fresh and I’m really looking forward to the dinner tonight

Just had my daughter’s wedding at The Eg. Everything was perfect. The staff, the service the food all first class. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Thanks to all the hotel for a wonderful day.

Went for dinner for a 79th. Staff great, service was good food wasn't that great. 1 meal came out wrong they were told burger nothing on it came out loaded, steak pie was the worst the person had tasted and the mac and cheese was cold reheated but could be eaten the the amount of mustard in the sauce sorry won't be back to eat again

We arrived on time where checked in we had all amenities pointed out including beer garden that was fantastic with small stream that runs beside it dinner was top class and service was impeccable all staff were helpful and polite had a perfect sleep and breakfast was just as good as dinner all over this was a perfect overnight experience and will be a returning customer

Booked on a WoWcher voucher gifted for Xmas. The booking process wasn’t as smooth as I’d expected, so had to contact the hotel who were great. We were welcomed with such enthusiasm that I was surprised, you don’t often encounter it these days. The theme continued with the service throughout our stay. The room was adequate, heating on upon arrival. Food was good overall from a fixed menu for dinner with some surcharges. I would have liked the option of other items on the main menu with a surcharge where necessary, but there was sufficient choice. Breakfast was good from my perspective, smoked haddock with poached egg. From my wife’s perspective not so much; a tatty scone added to a full “ English “ does not make a “full Scottish” breakfast. There was no Lorne sausage nor haggis option and beans are not served on a standard full Scottish breakfast. Bar prices are a bit higher than most pubs, but not as overpriced as many hotels tend to be, so doesn’t force you to go elsewhere. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

wheelchair access is very good. staff very friendly and polite and good service. lunch was just a bowl of soup and a roll plus coffee as we did not want a big lunch. We will return soon

We always eat here when staying in the area with family. Veggies and vegans are well catered for and the salt and pepper tofu was delish. Service is spot on and professional and friendly. I always have to request the vegan menu, if I didn’t know to ask for it then it could be missed. I believe the head chef was on duty, and this was reflected in all 5 meals in flavor and presentation.

Booked I night DB&B using a 5pm deal/voucher. Friendly welcome, swift check in. (Room no8). Good size room though room cold on arrival (no heating on). Bathroom colder, towel rail not adequate to heat bathroom. Rusty bashed bin in bathroom needs to be condemned. Cobweb noted on corner/ceiling. Room dusty, had to clean tv remote control. Noise could be heard from neighbouring rooms. Staff at evening meal very attentive and professional, good choice on 5pm menu thought with supplement charges. The male staff member at breakfast made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him so much so we didn't like to ask for toast etc. Seemless check out.

Nice restaurant attached to the hotel. Food was way overpriced for the quality. Very bland & unimaginative. Service was dreadful with forgotten desserts & drinks. Enjoyed the meal but will cross this eatery off our list of returns.

Unlike Party of 12 review by Nippyglasgow we too had a party of 12 there for a Christmas lunch. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, as some people wanted to chop and change from the offered menus. Others couldn’t choose from both menus and were still offered a choice. There were some negative comments about the food but, for approx. £15 per person, what’s to complain about!!! The restaurant went out of there way to allow use to use the bar area for our lunch, as opposed to the main restaurant. To top it all off, some members of our party chose to pay for the meal and drinks for all of us so, it was a fantastic day out! Well done to “The Egg”!!!

Party of approx. 12 as some came and went for our annual Christmas lunch - not our first the Hotel we have been going for a few years previously for Christmas. Very limited set menu, we therefore asked for the Christmas menu and mixed and matched. Food was way below par. The Turkey had never seen a Turkey in its life, don't know what is was. Mashed potatoes with this was very unusual and not very palatable. Veg were not al dente they were rock hard and very limited. One of the party had the Butternut squash tart!!! don't really know what this was we're still looking for the Butternut squash again this was served with mashed potatoes and no sauce, being an exceptionally dry meal. Cheeseboard comprised of one piece of hard cheddar and one piece of brie! Our bill was not cheap as we did consume a fair amount of alcohol. We choose to go here as it is local and the bar area if fairly private but we will certainly not be returning. You really let yourself down with this excuse for a Christmas Dinner.

We were a party of nine for Christmas Lunch and, having heard feedback from numerous people, I felt compelled to let the hotel know. Not ideal, as it was after the event, but I thought they might be able to use it as a learning point.In general, the starters and dessert were fine but the main course was universally slated. The Turkey choice in particular was criticised heavily with comments such as ‘worse than a TV dinner’, ‘didn’t come from a turkey’ etc. It was obviously not carved from a turkey and the quality was poor. It came with mash that can only be described as Smash and an obvious omission was roast potatoes and the normal trimmings. In addition, service was extremely slow and, having waited a long while for an order to be taken, there were lengthy gaps between courses. Despite ordering coffees to arrive with dessert, the had to ask after dessert was finished and they had not even been started.When I wrote to the hotel, they were simply defensive with comments such as 'I must assure you that this is not indicative of the comments we would normally receive. Furthermore, we have only been complimented on our seasonal menu this year, especially on being such value. I was here myself on Sunday and unaware of any food quality or service issues.'So much for welcoming feedback!

First time visiting this hotel, we chose it for my Mum’s birthday lunch as it was easy for everyone to access and we had heard it was nice. The staff were fantastic, taking a birthday cake to bring out after the main courses and singing happy birthday. The pace of service was perfect, we did not feel rushed at all but the food came out in good time. The children’s menu was very good and excellent value. My starter of roasted beetroot and feta was lovely as was the steak pie main course. We also loved the decor and ambiance. Will definitely be back and would recommend to others!

My wife and I had a lovely afternoon tea this afternoon. First class service. This is a beautiful hotel set in the village of eaglesham which is a conservation area and well worth a visit.

We stay regularly in this hotel and it is always cosy, spotless, confortable and friendly. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. The food and bar service is also excellent, particularly from Jay who always ensures customers are looked after and is extremely professional and courteous. Looking forward to our stay again next month!

Tried to write a review before but eglinton arms complained – they obviously don’t like criticism – and so they demanded it was removed. Thus here is another attempt and hopefully it’s published. I really disagree with establishments coming down heavy handed when they do something wrong and trying to quash free speech and opinion. We live in a democracy and are entitled to our opinions and my opinion of this place is that it has dropped in standards, whether the eglinton arms like it or not. Just because they don’t like criticism doesn’t mean they are immune from it.

I reviewed this restaurant in January and gave it 5 stars. I returned recently and just wish I could give it 6 stars. The service was excellent and the food was once again wonderful. I can't sing the praises of the Eglinton Arms highly enough. Everyone was friendly and efficient and the menu was exceptional for a lunchtime meal. Thank you to everyone involved and keep up the very high standards you have set.

A group of us stayed here for just one night. We were treated well both when we registered and during our stay. The place was clean and well furnished and it is in a great setting. Ample parking and the room was fine for our needs.

We had lunch in the restaurant last week. We could not fault anything. The meal was excellent and beautifully presented. The service was great. Our server was friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend, and we will be back!

Booked one night stay to meet up with friends from the USA who were touring Scotland. I booked a table for four of us for 7pm. Unfortunately trouble with their hire car meant our friends were running really late. I explained the situation to restaurant staff and there was not a problem. "Don't worry," said the charming staff member. "Whatever time they arrive, we won't let you go hungry."

Went for lunch good food and very nice atmosphere in the restaurant.The staff were very friendly and the place is super clean.I would highly recommend this restaurant as they do lunch time specials.

I have stayed several times and it has always been fantastic. For me there are two pulls, firstly the staff are so friendly and helpful but the key factor is the food. It is a great place to visit just for dining as well as a great place to stay. The food is very fairly priced but it’s quality is way above any of the dozen or so hotels I have stayed at in the last 12 months. The only place I remember where the food was this good was a hotel where the rooms and food were three times as much and looking at it from that point the restaurant here is something of a bargain. This stay I tried several starters, a ham hough, an Arbroath smokie and my staple the haggis with peppercorn sauce all were great although I enjoyed the latter two a little more. The key main of note was the steak burger, I have all but given up ordering these at hotels as they are often tasteless, dry, too thick and too dense, most would be better if there was less meat of better quality. Not the case here, the burger was clearly made on site and of perfect texture and flavour. A five star dining experience.

Really enjoyed my stay here. We attended a renew of wedding vows ceremony. The hotel is set in a quiet village near Glasgow. I can't really fault anything about my stay. I have never met such friendly and helpful people. The hotel was perfect. We stayed in the basic double room the first two nights which was nice and comfortable. One of the housekeeping team asked if we would like a free upgrade to the honeymoon for our last night which was nice. We moved into it but she didn't know it was booked for that night so we had to move to the room next door which was equally as nice. She also gave us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for our bother. Breakfast was excellent. Choice of continental followed by a choice of cooked breakfast. The bar drinks were reasonably priced. The St Mungo lager was good. Restaurant food was good. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back. Excellent set up.

Travelling from Edinburgh to meet with friends we decided would be great to do The Abbà Tribute, include a 3 course meal,and do bed and breakfast too. Staff were fantastic from the moment we walked in until leaving the following morning.

Popped in for coffee and walk around Eaglesham. Later decided to go for an early dinner with family including a two year old. Service was superb. The food was delicious and the decor very tasteful. Really enjoyed the experience and would certainly recommend.

I have stayed at, and reviewed, the Eglinton Arms many times. I cannot get enough of this place. From the generous yet well cooked breakfasts to the evening meals it has never failed to impress. This particular visit was no exception.

Sunday lunch to celebrate Dad's birthday assisted by the staff at the Egg. Small but varied menu and whole party enjoyed their lunch. I could not fault my chicken but those who had a fish starter or main felt these were particularly well cooked. Always a pleasure to visit. Well trained staff and a manager who makes himself available to customers for feedback. Pleased this restaurant is a local.

No habíamos reservado, así que cuando la mujer que estaba "dando la bienvenida" a la gente (¡un nombre equivocado si alguna vez hubo uno!) Me preguntó con sorna qué nombre tenía la reserva, le dije que acabábamos de entrar con la esperanza de comer (ya que han hecho innumerables veces en el pasado). Ella dijo imperiosamente: "Tendrás que esperar aquí hasta que yo vea". Cuando nos llevaron a la zona de comedor, esperaba ver un restaurante lleno de mesas llenas. No es el caso. ¡Hubo 11 mesas gratis en el área (de 15) con una capacidad total de 34 personas! ! ! La camarera me preguntó dónde nos gustaría sentarnos, pero cuando dije "justo aquí en la esquina sería genial, gracias", dijo en voz alta y suspiró. . . Tal vez porque la mesa necesitaba ser despejada. . . demasiado esfuerzo. Todavía nadie más había venido a almorzar. Pedimos huevos Benedicte y 2 cafés. . . . 15 minutos más tarde nos dijeron que había habido un accidente y estaban rehaciendo la holandesa. Cuando finalmente llegaron los huevos estaban duros, el tocino estaba duro, el panecillo estaba duro y la holandesa era la única cosa que estaba medio caliente en el plato. También habíamos terminado nuestras bebidas a estas alturas, pero no nos ofrecieron una recarga gratuita, que era lo menos que podían haber hecho. Servicio atroz (aparte de una encantadora joven sonriente), comida espantosa y una actitud completamente indiferente. ¡Y ni una sola persona vino detrás de nosotros, así que solo Dios sabe de qué se trata el drama sobre no haber reservado! Después de 15 años de ir aquí. . . no volveremos No sólo mal. . . . ¡Supremamente malo!

Increíble cena y bebidas para mis papás ¡60 celebraciones de cumpleaños! ! Tuvimos una cena encantadora en el viernes 1 de marzo para los padres 60 cumpleaños. . . no me puedo quejar de nada y estoy sin gluten y tuve algunas opciones en el menú. ¡Mi cena estuvo deliciosa! 5 crítica de estrellas es muy bien merecido?

Mi esposa y yo estuvimos allí para cenar, alojamiento y desayuno, y debo decir que no puedo decidir qué parte del descanso fue lo más destacado, todo fue de primera clase.

Popped in for a sandwich on boxing day and felt very welcome coming in to the wonderful warmth and great service. Had nice hot chocolate, sandwiches and soup. The staff was extremely friendly and serviceminded. The haggis neeps and tatties were superb and so was the tomato soup!

We had sunday lunch and there was a set menu which was great value, food was fresh and hot to the table. Staff were friendly and very informed look forward to returning

Attended a wedding on Saturday 17th & service was second to none.

Located in the tranquil model village, the Eglinton Arms is a great place to stay. The rooms are a little small, but clean, well presented and perfectly functional. The food in the restaurant was much better quality than I had expected and I would recommend it to both guests and locals.

Had lunch there yesterday, service pretty good, however my starter of neeps, taties, and haggis was nearly warm... I know you should say something, however if they can’t get this right... the fish and chips were better again you’d have thought good triple cooked chips should be the norm in a half decent venue?

We have dined here a lot over the years and have pretty much always enjoyed the experience. It is a proper restaurant in a hotel and the food is good, though some of the portion sizes are a touch on the small side. The drinks are about the price expected in a hotel as well, so fair enough. It just that overall we left feeling it was overpriced and we were underfed.

Stayed for 2 nights Really good food Has its own pub attached, which has Sky Sports for football viewing. Friendly staff. Also a wedding venue

Had a lovely Sunday lunch today . Hotel was fully booked but looked after us all very well indeed. Steak pie was very good, as was the burger with sides of coleslaw and hand prepared chips Well done to all the team!,
