Bessemer Carvery and Grill in Merthyr Tydfil

Just a friendly hotel, all the staf were wonderful. Rooms were clean, if a little dated. Breakfast was freshly made when u ordered , loads of hot water for a bath and a great shower. The tv reception is terrible so take a streaming stick as wi-go is good and free

Been here many times and had a fab time 2night we went as a family of 4, 3 adults and 1 child, I myself asked for a childs carvery the young waitress asked why as i wasnt a child i explained i wasnt very hungry she explained she would check, she came back and said she would do it this once only, we tried to order the soup it was out of stock so i ordered a childs carvery for myself 2 adult carverys and 1 childs nugget meal. On arrival at the carvery deck my sister who was already there, sheexplained that the waitress had been slagging me off i wanted a childs carvery, she was until she saw my sister stood watching them, they they then tried to hide. Once sat down with our meals the waitress constantly watched me for no reason what so ever We them proceeded to pay the bill, you take the bill to the till to pay The chef, the young waitress and now another older waitress, (short dark hair older women face like thunder were all stood around the till area) She asked how we wanted to pay the bill, we said card please 3 ways, she huffed puffed slammbed a few things about and went to the table to collect the bill, She asked what i was paying for, i said the childs carvery, the childs nuggets and drinks, she said ohh the waitess got told off for your childs carvery as its not something we do!!!!!! The older waitress was absolutly rude to all of us If you want a plesant meal then i woudnt bother with this place the staff are rude

Booked this hotel on a whim for an overnight stay travelling on our motorbike. Arrived early but the lovely lady on reception said our room was ready which was a great bonus. The room was pleasant, spacious, clean and comfy. Nice bathroom too. What more do you need? Breakfast, although very early (only till 8.30am) was plentiful and tasty. All the staff we encountered were smiley and helpful, couldn’t do enough for us. My absolute only gripe was that there was no info pack in the room. Breakfast, bar and restaurant menus and opening times as well as internet password would have been really helpful. But for £65 a night it really was a great find.

Had a takeaway dinner on 27th, got home and put some in bowl for my 4 year old and I ate mine out of the tray just because I was in a rush and it was easier , after three mouth fulls I started chewing on something hard, I pulled it out of my mouth and it was string, size of it was about the size of a ring with a knot at the end. (Picture attached) , I rung Bessemer finally got through and spoke to the manager ( janey), well it didn’t end every well! The manger said sorry ( with a tone of attitude) and reassured me that it’s ok the string wouldn’t have done me any harm ? She kept on saying it’s only string and has just come off the meat, I explained that it’s a choking hazard and what if my 4 year old had it is his food…. Her answer to that was I should have saw the string when putting my food onto a plate, so I explained I ate mine in the tray , the manager continued to go on saying that she doesn’t know anyone who eats out of a tray and sounded very disgusted that I did , she kept on saying you don’t eat out of the tray you eat on a plate, I said I eat my food where I want and it’s none of her business the string shouldn’t have been in my food and even if I did put the food onto a plate I still wouldn’t have saw it . So she asked if I still had the food , I explained no it was in the bin soon as I found the string , she said if I can get it from the bin and take it up and can have another dinner , as if I wanted another dinner after that. She then said well what do you want me to do then offered a refund with attitude, by this point the conversation had just wound me up so we ended the call. I will never take my custom up there again and if anyone has any issue then you’ll be dealing with a manager with attitude and no customer service skills . Absolutely shocking to be told that having string in my food wouldn’t hurt me, if my son had it in his mouth then god knows what would have happened. Just to add the gravy was like water !

Went with family to celebrate sisters, we all had carvery, food was lovely beef cooked beautifully, only downside was the miserable chef carving the meat

My friend found this hotel on booking.com for a last minute hiking trip. I didnt know where he had booked, but on arrival I was pleasently suprised. Its suitation is welcoming, raised above road level and at night its lights make it look welcoming. On arrival, we got a bit lost trying to find the receiption desk, ending up in the bar but staff further in the building noticed us and came immediatly to check us in. She explained about dinner, breakfast, free wifi etc, and we found her to be very welcoming. Decor is dated but all areas nice and clean. Some rust to pipework in bathroom slight mould to grouting but overall very clean and tidy appearance. The lighting was a little too dim and the room was initially very cold on entering but we got used to this and didnt turn out to be a problem. We had to go downstairs to ask for wifi code, and I personally feel a notice of this along with a menu placed in each room would be useful. The bed was lovely and comfortable, and wether it was the days hiking or the bed- we both had a sound sleep! Breakfast was enjoyed very much by both of us. Staff were very attentive and didnt seem fed up the three times I asked for more orange juice! Without a doubt if we are back in the area we would stop here. it was lovely and comfortable and welcoming- I think our favourite part was the shower- could have stopped in there all day!

We stayed a Thursday night at the Bessemer Hotel. We paid for dinner, which was carvery only but ample and good value. All items were served hot, with trimmings for meat-eaters. Veggies/vegans can get a vegs-only dish for a reduced rate. Staff in restaurant wore facemasks and took care. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Beds were good and we slept soundly. Room lighting though was subdued. Our shower was far too hot (which we noted at checkout). Cooked breakfast was good, served with tea/coffee but no fruit juice.

It was absolutely lovely. They do it on a Sunday . All family enjoyed . Very big good value . Beef, Turkey or pork, roasties lots of different veg, Yorkshire puddings and pot of gravy yum!

Great place to stay, ticked all the box’s for me, rooms clean and spacious, lovely breakfast and very substantial and tasty evening meals. All the staff were great and helped make my stay all the more enjoyable, hope to return early in the new year.

Had the garlic mushrooms to start were like bullets had the carvery asked for Turkey and pork and veg gravy as I don't eat red meat the chef shouted put the kettle on so my gravy which can ten minutes after I had my food and I noticed the chef used the same knife for all the meat so I wasted all my dinner as that's not right X cauliflower cheese was mostly sauce only uplifting part of the meal was the trifle be a while before I go here again

Booked through Booking.com and found everything as expected and a warm welcome the beer was good and the barman was polite as was the waitresses and they also had a sense of humour a big plus with me , the evening meal was very good and well priced although I wouldn’t have the Plaice again , the room was very good and very clean with great views , tea making but no biscuits but that’s not a big deal , free wi fi , the full English breakfast cooked to order and served to you by a very pleasant waitress who seemed to double up as receptionist doing a fantastic job , we would definitely stay here again , thank you for a pleasant over night stay .

Always come here as a halfway point to meet good friends , never had a problem for years until this evening. I arrived at the counter where I was asked what I wanted , i said beef but could I have cracking too, the answer was a straight up no you’re not allowed, and that was it no explanation, he was like a robut no people skills atall , my friend went after me and asked for two items and he said if you want !!! Clearly had a bad day and we got the stick of it , not nice after an extremely long day … you’ve just lost three long term customers because of one individual..

Staying at the hotel and thought we would try the carvery the first night!! Thank god we did it as been absolutely fantastic and some of the nicest food we have had for ages! Proper home cooked style!!! Probably eat here every night now

Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean room, lovely furniture & decoration. Only grumble would be needs blackout curtains, even though there were blinds it was extremely bright in the morning. Lovely jacuzzi bath was a nice surprise. Breakfast was cooked to order & was tasty, standard of service was a little poor as staff were sat outside the restaurant watching TV. Reception staff could have been a little more enthusiastic.

So called manager very rude shocking service on takeaway service will never eat or go there again need to sort out there manners

We arrived after a great day walking the Brecon Beacons. Great staff with a good sense of humour. 2 of the 3 of us enjoyed the carvery, a little dry for my taste but you won't go hungry! Seems like they saw Covid coming - assistance buttons and table screening certainly kept us safe

Attended the Bessemer last night with my elderly mother - what a disappointment. Our table was booked for 6pm at 7.15 pm as we had finished our desserts (after ordering starters, mains and desserts) when the manager asked if we would move into the bar to finish our drinks because they needed the table. I understand there are now time limits on bookings but last night's experience but us feel we were on a conveyor belt. Prior to the pandemic we had always received 1st class service but if last night's service is their new norm I will not be rushing back.

So my partner have just come home from an evening here where she took our 10 month year old baby the baby had some veg and got some on the floor normal for a baby my partner was then confronted by a member of staff where she threw paper towels down demanding that my partner cleans the mess there and then and then commenting on my partners parenting skills all this while the baby was still eating her food also my child has milk allergies upon ordering food my partner have asked does the mash contain milk where she had a snare remark saying well yes obviously the staff here are very rude and aggressive would avoid at all cost

Its awful here since they reopened from corona. The roast is a mix of salt and butter and is practically inedible and the staff seem very fed up and overheated in their masks. Just a horrible environment for such a steep price.

Totally delicious. Excellent choice of veg, 3 meats, proper roast potatoes, tasty stuffing, yorkshires and real gravy. Served into portable trays that kept the food hot. Easy to order and pay over the phone, and even though there was a queue to pick it up, we were served fairly quickly. There was enough food on one tray to serve 2 people. Best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time.

Just had our first carvery takeaway and we are so impressed had to write a review! Absolutely stunning, piping hot and plenty of everything. Will definitely be having again 😊!!

The staff were friendly, nothing was to much to ask of them, great family vibe. Rooms was clean and spacious and restaurant food was absolutely delicious. Great stay, definitely will be returning!

Lovely and clean, very tasty dinner, I had beef which was tender not chewy at all. Turkey was tender not at all dry. Vegatables cooked just the way I like them. Cauliflower cheese delicious.Sunday is very very busy. I'm disabled stood for 20 mins in que, but had to go sit down and my daughter brought my dinner for me. Staff lovely and helpful. Will definitely go back but not on a Sunday.

Carvery was good but expensive at £9.75 have had just as good Carvery with more veg choice a lot cheaper. £2.85 for a glass of coke and £4.75 for a dessert which was very similar to a local supermarket value dessert . Sorry but not good value for money.

Thank you Janie & staff at Bessemer. My family just held an afternoon reception in The Bessemer after my Fathers funeral and everything was perfect. The buffet they put on was enough for everyone and more and the conservatory area where we all gathered was fantastic. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and we had a wonderful celebration of my Fathers life. Thank you Bessemer.

The Bessemer Hotel sort yourself out! The dinners are okay they are cold and stuffing is mushy and dry. The place mats have stains on the that have gravy that is about 15yrs old. The cutlery was dirty. It is £2 for a small Pepsi and £2.40 for a large! It’s a rip off. This restaurant is dirty. The way they deal with customers is horrendous there was a queue to pay coming by the tables going through a dining area. If you don’t like confined spaces don’t go there!

Wow! What a fantastic carvery. Faultless Sunday Lunch. Went as a group to celebrate a 70th birthday. Meat, choice of beef, turkey or pork, each melt in mouth. All vegetables cooked nicely. Mash potato to die for. Great value for money.

The management here and selected staff are appalling, really rude and no professional service provided , really needs looking into.this will cost the business a lot of money if it carries on . Would never return on that basis

I have visited The Bessemer on a number of occasions and love it there. I have had celebrations there and have always had a fab time. The food is lovely, the staff are friendly. Well done all of you. You will see me again I'm sure.

Visited the Bessemer with my family who lives in the merthyr area and couldn’t find a single fault. The staff were attentive & extremely welcoming, especially the young girl with glasses working the bar. I very much enjoyed my experience and will be sure to visit again when in the area.

I loved how many combinations you can have at this brilliant restaurant. I ordered the steak and went up 4-5 times for extra car very. The veggies were el dented and were fresher than the sea.the puddings are to die for and I would highly suggest the rocky road sundae. Well deserved 5.

Visited the Bessemer in August 2019 with my wife and daughter for Sunday lunch, food was fantastic but a little disappointed that we had to queue for a long time to get our food.

Just came back from a family meal. Everyone paid separately within just over an hour and a half. 3 of us in a group, including an oap were enjoying our drinks and weren't ready to pay yet the less than charming waitress gave us our bill like we were going to run without paying. Saw the said waitress who looked like a prison officer give people rolling eyes when they were playing with kids and obviously in her way. This is the few times I have been here and soon after you eat, they want you out. Was finishing my wine and one of the other waitresses was spraying cleaning fluid next to me, which meant I had to move my drink. All in all rude service, cannot wait to get rid of you and substandard food to boot. Disappointing to say the least will it be returning it recommending to friends

Queue for the Carvery was long but it’s a proper Welsh roast dinner with all the trimmings and only £9.95 each, will definitely be going back.

Decided to go for the boneless chicken with bbq sauce. I didn't expect to get a sliver of what can only be described as one of my dogs rubber toys. Pathetic salad and chips so crunchy it hurt my mouth to eat. Never again....

The food was excellent 10/10 and yes it is hot there on a Sunday however its probably because it so popular. I do feel they could do with air con for the summer months or new fans on the ceiling however food is always spot on and hot like it should be.

The carvery is THE BEST you will EVER Have. Outstanding Food. Really full after eating it... No room for desert...

Meal for a family birthday was really busy but been a few times meal was made for 7.30 but actually had it 8.45 no issue there .Carvery is lovely good value but drinks are quite expensive .

I have been for a carvery many times at the bessmer and I highly recommend it! This carvery is the best I have ever had (no offence mam lol), but it truly is! The only negative is that they need bigger plates lol. Choice of three meats pork Turkey and beef, can have all three if you fancy. Stuffing and mash potato is amazing!

So many people having lunch here. Options for veggies, children, oaps as well as ‘normal’ plates. Veggie option was just served without meat. Veggie gravy granules It was just a place for Sunday food. No frills at all

Absolutely lovely carvery with plenty of choice and the meat servings ample . Service very good and friendly . One slight negative some parts of restaurant furniture etc needs some updating. Having said that will be returning very soon 👍👍

One of my favourite places for Sunday Carvery. Visited many a time. Amazing, delicious, plentiful. Chef carving the meat is a lovely gentleman & the staff are all hardworking & great.. No hesitation in recommending.

Our family of 12 people mixed ages went for Sunday lunch we have been to Bessemer several times evening and lunch and never had a complaint yesi it could do with some new table mats but the atmosphere is nice the staff friendly and the food never fails to please even the smallest member of our family well done

We have visited the Bessemer now on many occasions and decided it deserved a review. The reason for our visits has only ever been for the Sunday carvery with family with ages ranging from young to old. It is advisable to book as this place gets really busy. The restaurant and bar service is exceptional. The staff are always very well presented with male staff in white shirts with bow ties. The food portions are huge and the carvery is very well priced considering the choice of meat and vegetables on offer and the size of portions. Will definately be paying another visit.

Visited the Bessemer for a family meal out, location is a bit dated but the food was great. We all ate the carvery option, plenty of veg and a select of 3 meats (turkey, pork and beef).

Shame you have towait for a table even whenbooked but the staff are friendly andf the food was really nice

It was a hot Sunday carvery. There was no real ventilation, no real organisation and a never ending queue (to quote a waitress) for getting served at the carvery, where one solitary carver served every diner. Warm white wine that had never been close to a fridge, a huge wait to get served at the front of the queue, moderately ok food, as long as you've got asbestos fingers to handle the serving spoons. Inadequate facilities - parking, carving staff - to deliver to the curious popularity of the place, including some getting a carvery to take away. If we weren't there for a family birthday, we would have gone elsewhere. I was shocked by the place. One star is for the OK food - not for anything else.

What a terrible place! Took my grandmother for her birthday today and I’m thoroughly disappointed..... absolutely 0 rating for service. I felt like we were back in school queuing up for our lunch!

We visited as part of a three generational family to celebrate two birthdays. All of us chose to have the carvery meal (albeit one as a vegetarian) but there is also a full menu of other meals. Everyone enjoyed the meal very much and several went back for more vegetables. There were three meats on offer (you could choose just one a mixture of all three) and a very wide range of vegetable dishes - not merely the ones that normally accompany a "Sunday Dinner". There was also gravy and sauces on offer and the person having the vegetarian option was offered vegetarian gravy which was a real plus point. Although portions of meat were restricted in that you could not have "second helpings", there was no limit on the amount of vegetables that could be taken - that was equally true for the children.

The carvery was recommended by our son who uses it a lot. He was right,very good value, lovely and fresh.

This carvery was one of the best we have had. Good choice of meats, plenty of vegetable choices and was delicious. The service was good and the staff friendly.

I been to the Bessemer a few times. But the last twice I have been it's not been the best. The beef is shocking maybe they are buying it from different supplier I don't know. But for the money there is a lot better options out there. Giving it a miss for a few weeks

Food was amazing as always high quality lovely and hot turkey was amazing thoroughly enjoyed the meal all round. The staffs pleasant attitude was a nice addition to the meal as well

This is a nice venue for meeting friends and family for a meal and drinks. There is a good selection of reasonably priced meals on the menu but I particularly recommend the Carvery. The portions are generous and well cooked. There was plenty of comfortable seating in the bar and in the restaurant and the staff are helpful and friendly. Everyone in our party had a nice evening.

Went there today for my Nans 70th birthday, their was 19 of us is well. Food was lovely everything was fine until it came to paying. I was stood at the till going to pay for our food while my boyfriend took the babies to the car. And this waitress came running after my partner with a bad attitude accusing him of not paying. My boyfriend explained I was paying and she didn’t even apologise. They need to sort out how you pay for your food so they wouldn’t have this problem! Ruined a nice meal out!! Won’t be going back after being treated that way.

Food is of average standard, but its priced accordingly. That said i love the bessemers mash. Staff have always been friendly and the place is always busy. Not the finest of quality food but worth a visit if hungry and on a budget.

Working nearby so stayed 2 nights. About 5 minutes car journey from Merthyr. Strange location on outskirts of a housing estate. Bit of a throw back to the 70’s in term of decor and the restaurant especially is a very strange layout. Having said that the carvery is very popular locally and I saw 3 birthday parties and accompanying happy birthdays. The food was actually very nice at dinner and breakfast . Lady in reception very helpful and also doubled up in the restaurant

As usual, a great Sunday lunch with plenty to eat. Only negative was how busy it was and having to queue in a busy restaurant. You felt you had to rush your food as so many people were waiting for tables.

The vegetables are supposed to be fresh but they are clearly frozen,only a fool wouldn't notice the difference.

A journey to Merthyr rescued by an amazing dinner! We had planned a visit to the cinema but were delayed, and I suddenly got a craving for a proper Sunday lunch, with roasties and lashings of gravy. My son asked his friend Google if there were any suitable eateries nearby and this one came up. He recalled a workmate mentioning it so we decided to give it a go. And boy were we glad we did! Yes there was a wait and a really long queue (which btw did not seem to reduce at all). But it was well worth it. The meat was so tender a toothless granny could have enjoyed, the veggies were all piping hot, not always the case in these places, the Yorkshires huge and crispy outside soft and pillowy inside, and the gravy!! What can I say about the gravy, thick, silky, and full of flavour, just like mamma used to make. All in all, absolutely delicious. As for the staff, a horde of friendly, helpful youngsters, with, smiling faces, and a helpful attitude. All in all a very welcome discovery. Reckon there are many Sunday lunches in our future.

Have eaten here a few times with family who live in there and have enjoyed it each time. Food is tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced and all the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always a very warm welcome.

Been a few times for a carvery. A lot of people rave about the place but I am not totally impressed. Been to a lot nicer and cheaper ok I suppose but I won't rave about it. Meat is OK vegetables to me are always over cooked and repetitive !

We went here yesterday and to be honest although I was really looking forward to the dinner I was dreading the queuing four times to get the children's,my mums and my own roast lunch,however I was delighted to find two members of staff waiting to help take the food to the table avoiding disaster and enabling us to all eat together very kind and thoughtful. The dinner was delicious and We can't wait to go back for more! The staff were very happy and helpful even though very busy. The dinner deserts and drinks came to around £80 for the 6 of us and was more than worth it. We will be back for more!

The place is nothing fancy and the inside is a bit dated but the carvery has been excellent for years, with a good selection of vegetables and nice large cuts of meat.It can get insanely busy on Sundays so I'd recommend going on weeknights. We've never had to book on weeknights and always had a table. It can also get really hot in there as the fans don't seem to do anything. That hasn't stopped us being regulars though. You can also get a takeaway carvery if you take your own plate, but I've never tried this as apparently it's the same price, so you may as well sit down and eat if you have time.

Booked in advance but despite this had to wait in the bar with a very active two year old. Our table was ready in about 15 minutes. We walked past a VERY long queue for the carvery on the way to the table. My husband had to try to manage two plates and a bowl (available for £2) for our grandson or I would have had to queue again by which time my husband would have long finished his meal. It is extremely hot in the restaurant, particularly where we were seated near to the carvery, and very noisy. Can't fault the food and maybe it's a more pleasant dining experience when not so busy however I'd have to be convinced before I'd return

A fantastic carvery at the Bessemer, always very busy so if you can book I would recommend it. The meat is always cooked beautifully and a wide selection of vegetables. Highly recommended

I have been dining at the Bessemer Hotel for as long as I can remember and can honestly say I have never had a bad meal, The staff are always helpful and the atmosphere is good with the cleanliness of the establishment I would say is 100%,I look forward to another welcoming and satisfying / enjoyable return some day soon.

If you want a trip back to the eighties to experience painted cornice, shiny yellow furniture with bright coloured glass, strange booths and walls around the tables in the restaurant, old orange carpets, and a menu which is made up of bought in scampi, knickerbocker glory's, banana boats and Black Forest gateau then this might be the place for you!Coupled with what felt like senior citizens night, with a button at your table to signal service, paper thin walls between bedrooms and whoever was above me must have been trying to make up their 10,000 steps all night and morning!Not a good experience, was awake all night, food was like my nans plastic fruit bowl selection and staff were doing multiple jobs around the hotel i.e front of house check in plus waitressing.Just bizarre!

We have eaten here a couple of times now and have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and down home cooking. We have never been rushed and have found the wait staff very friendly. The food is great but the wimberry tart is supreme. We made reservations for Sunday and didn't have to wait in line so that was wonderful.

After reading lots of positive reviews was looking forward to eating here, recently went here for a family meal.Well on entering I felt like I was in a residential home,harsh lighting and dated deco.The menu lacked inspiration me and partner decided on steak.Some of the party had carvery ,I felt it was total disorganized with party members eating well before others had grills,to my shock we had to go and pick our steak up at the Carvery.What greeted us was large pots of unappealing vegetables!Everything seemed that it had been there for a while! After I made way from the maze of tables ( resembled sheep in a pen)!My steak was very fatty and tasteless! Overall a very disappointing meal ,and somewhere I will not be visiting again!!!!!!

My family and I have eaten here many times. The restaurant is clean, and decor warm and modern. The staff are always very friendly, and helpful. Food is of a good standard and plentiful. My only gripes are the following. The plates are small, and you struggle to get everything onto the plate. The restaurant is ALWAYS extremely hot. There's No air con, or windows to open, and the conservatory section is like an oven. To be truthful it is uncomfortably hot. As I have previously said My family and I have eaten here many times over the years. However it is just as cheap to eat in a restaurant and be served at the table in more comfortable conditions.

We have been a few times to the Bessemer now, for a wedding, a party,and lunch 3 or 4 times. Sunday lunch if fab, always to a good standard. Staff help, very quick service. Lots of parking, good value,you can't go wrong. My daughter loves it there. We will be back again. Mike

Visited with family I had the carvery 3 choices of meat guy carving was very friendly and helpful , the vegetables especially the onions were stunning .Some of the family had steak they also really enjoyed the staff very nice also would recommend.

You have the option of variable meats, veg and all the trimmings in a great surround. For the sweet toothed there's a variety of desserts. All at a reasonable price.

First time been back for a few years. Wish we hadn't. Not a patch on what it used to be. Small portion on the meat. Peas, carrots, fried onions(why?), cauliflower cheese but no greens. Bland mash which used to be really lovely buttery taste. Roast potatoes all of which you can help yourself, so can have a plate piled high. Gravy had a thick skin right across it, so had to give a good stir before putting on food. Which was lumpy. Plus side was the friendly girls serving which can't be said about the guy cutting & serving the meat.

We stopped here after walking up Pen Y fan on a Sunday. We hadn't booked but were seated within 5 minutes. The que for the carvery was huge but it was peak time. Food was lovely and hot and plenty of it. The staff were very prompt with drinks and the bill. The place itself is a very strange set, lots of little corners and corridors to walk down. Very dated. Wouldn't take much to take all the little walls down and make it a lot more modern. But.....that makes no difference when it comes to what your going there for which is the food!

Love the Bessemer come here and few times a month for a carvery great service,great beer and always fantastic food

Love having dinner here. Meat is cooked to perfection and the portion of meat is generous, large selection of vegetables, delicious roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese .... also, if you bring a plate and hug you can have a take away dinner ... they wrap it for you after you have made your selection of veg.... Negatives... the room gets very hot , not what you want when eating a large dinner.... deserts are mediocre ; often large queue on busy days... can be difficult to get a table ....

Never had a bad meal up here, staff are lovely and the food is outstanding, would recommend to anyone best carvery around

Six of us visited for dinner and we all chose the carvery. The positives: clean and tidy restaurant, our table was partitioned and good for private conversation, friendly service, fresh veg, good roast potatoes and excellent cauliflower cheese.The not - so - goods: not impressed with quality of turkey and trifles. Icecream out of a plastic tub placed in a tall dish. Pleasant evening. Had far worse carveries. Had better.

Due to the wonderful food myself my partner and her parents are regular visitors to the Bessemer for Sunday lunch. The food quality is first class and always hot with plenty of choice. If your looking for a great carvery in the South Wales area this is the place to visit.

I am not going to be too critical but wasn't impressed at all with this restaurant just not my kind of food...the place is cubed off like lots of little rooms with a funny buzzer thing on the wall to call the staff that u need something with a wire hanging off the wall leading somewhere..I had a hard time choosing something off the menu and was confused to just what I was getting to eat or the whole process of what I was supposed to do. The food was bland almost tasteless and not very exciting at all.. I had salad on my plate but only malt vinegar to put on it and was given a bowl of sachets of sauces ...felt a bit like a school meal only thing missing was a glass of milk....the breakfast wasn't even worth going down for so I won't even waste your time reviewing it....
