Stopped in for a coffee one cold morning. Usually I have Earl Grey tea when out butthis time joined husband in a coffee. Nicely made, and a large mugful. Service was good. We were the only ones in the cafe. I think the coffee is Illy and I enjoyed the flavour. Good looking home made cakes on offer.

These pizzas are very nice, thin and very authentic, loved the garlic bread as well and delivered on time

Nice welcoming cafe in the morning, if a bit small and cramped inside. Tables outside on pavement if weather decent. Doubles as a pizzeria later.

Takeaway pizza, really tasty, fresh ingredients and piping hot. Will definitely choose this rather than chains. Have some good deals if you telephone direct.

The best pizza in Ashtead! And the owner is a real gem. Went to pizza school in Sorrento, Italy and you can tell that he knows his stuff!

As a tiny cafe fighting to find its feet in a residential mini-parade, I have to raise a glass to Shakespeare's. They are a typical community cafe, where mums with buggies and retired seniors are quite welcomed to chat and savour good coffee and cakes without Starbucks predictable, contrived panache and ridiculous prices. They also offer a nice selection of paninis, sandwiches and other cafe fare. I think where they really shine is their evening pizza service. Ok, here's the deal - they offer a range of really nice pizzas, each named after a 'Bill Shakespeare' play to give them a unique twist, but the line up is actually standard stuff. To be absolutely fair, they are not world beating pizzas. But they are also not bad at all. I prefer a crispy thin crust. The toppings are generous, but not over the top (as it were). But the value is brilliant, two for the price of upon if you collect. That is unbeatable in the area - even against Tesco bought competition. And well worth considering if you have a horde of hungry 8 year olds to teenagers demanding food - 4, 12 inch pizza for £20 is a bargain. They were stumbling a bit with timings at first, but this seems to have smoothed itself out. Plus they are very friendly folks who understand they are a part of the community rather than a chain just out to make a few quid.

Having visited the area Christmas and Easter weeks to find Shakespeare & Co. closed, I was delighted to finally be able to try this cute little place. One evening last week we ordered a pizza for takeout that was dry and tasteless - thin like a flatbread but with no flavor. But pizza is very different from breakfast so I made it a point to try them this week for the traditional English breakfast. It was pretty much the worst breakfast I've eaten. You get your choice of 5 or 8 items and since all, except five, of the choices were meat, I ordered "everything except meat" which took the server a bit to work out. None of the food was hot. The toast was downright soggy with small bits of partially cooked egg stuck to it, like it was handled by someone with raw egg on their fingers. The tomato was a lukewarm flavorless tomato half and the 'hash browns' were a solid pre-formed patty like those that come frozen to be heated in the toaster, just like the ones that used to be served (maybe still are) at McDonald's.But the worst part was the beans. They had a strange appearance and texture that made me first think they had cheese in them, but I realized that they were just extremely overcooked, had become mealy, and were falling apart. They tasted dreadful. The service was fine and the outdoor seating, even with wobbly tables, was nice on a lovely summer morning. But if the food is bad, what's the point? My advice is to go just a bit down the road to the Ashtead Cafe in Craddocks Parade, where there's no ambiance but the food is better. Two strikes is enough. I'll not go back.

I would definitely recommend the pizza in this place. I ordered by phone and my 2 extra large pizzas were ready for me to collect when I got there. Great value for money and tasty pizzas - the kids loved them. Best of all was the very friendly service. I shall be going back for more easy Friday night dinners!

Decided to order pizzas here rather than a big chain. Arrived really quickly, we had the mozzarella (Hamlet), salami (Romeo and Juliet), and vegetable(Midsummer Night Dream) (3 Pizzas) and all were really tasty and fresh. Especially liked the vegetable pizza. Garlic bread good too. Would definitely order again

Real Italian pizza, with ingredients genuinely sourced from Italy and pizza dough made properly on the premesis. It's a simple place, but having spoken to the owner its clear that he has thought his offering through and aims to provide a quality product. The result is evident in the taste. So much better than the chain alternatives or supermarket pizza. The 2 for 1 offer is nothing short of excellent value.

I continue to eat here whilst staying with friends before flights from Heathrow. Lovely spot which is close to the centre of Ashtead and the railway station. Super breakfast in a clean and relaxed atmosphere. Now I found that the owner is preparing the most amazing pizzas in the evening. I recommend the Othello with extra garlic, olives and salami. Superb. Add to this mix a very friendly owner and you have a winning combination.

I tried Shakespeare Pizza for the first time and the experience was pretty awful. The food took over 1 1/2 hours to be delivered, when I rang to ask where it was I was told they had made a lot of pizzas to send out, when the food eventually arrived it was, it was no surprise to find it was cold. Microwaved re-heated pizza is not fresh! I won't be using them again.

Having eaten in most of the cafes/coffee shops in the area Shakespeares is a breath of fresh air!The sausages and bacon on the full English are both of a high standard, not the usual cheap filler sausages you would normally get in a cafe and very good value too, along with the great (Illy) coffee this place is a winner!!

Chicken burger wings and chips were really good. I normally come into the shop late and they always try to rush me out and you can't dine in after 9:30pm despite not closing until 11pm. It's also worth noting they opened a second royal chicken in Dorking which ended up closing down recently because they poisoned multiple people so be cautious and make sure to check your food.

Always ordered from them, everything was fast and tasty. But recently, delivery has begun to take a very long time. We waited 2 hours for the pizza and it never came. When we called, we were told that they hadn’t even found the driver yet! I'm disappointed! This is terribly irresponsible in relation to the customer!
