One of my favourite places, incredible food, wonderful service.

I was hoping to have a nice seafood dinner and catchup with my friend in a relaxing restaurant and thought this would be a right place. Food wasn't bad but we were constantly interrupted throughout the night. The service didn't make us feel comfortable as waiters constantly came to ask if we want to order more and tried clearing plates while we were still eating. Having spent over £100 per person, the bill came with a cover charge on top of 15% service charge and the waiter didn't even mention it. Felt ripped off and probably won't visit again.

Fantastic food and wonderful service from our waiter Dennis. Birthday treat was a lovely touch too. Can't wait to go back again!

Food was good but overpriced. There are places with better seafood and value of money. We got there a bit earlier but still felt a bit rushed. Understand waiters were trying to be attentive but we felt it was a bit much.

Been twice, first time all good, last time got shellfish poisoning. So it's 50/50 on food quality. Everything else is great, as it should be at that price range. Won't go again though, feels risky.

Regrettably, I must lower my review from 5 stars to 2 due to a food poisoning incident that occurred within a day of dining. This unfortunate experience has tainted my upcoming birthday plans.

Lovely lunch with nice staff and a great atmosphere! Some of the best chips I have ever had too. Highly recommend the Lobster, as well as the brioche-like bread you receive upon arrival - some of the best food I have eaten in a long time. Perfect restaurant for an occasion or a fancy lunch!

Historic restaurant in the heart of London ... In the historical and artistic heart of the British capital. Just a short walk from Piccadilly Circus this bar offers a selection of beautifully prepared seafood dishes. Excellent selection of wines, which will soon expand to include more countries and regions. I recommend the truly EXCELLENT San Marzano rosé. Fresh produce is prepared with meticulous attention and served perfectly. The fantastic atmosphere and the young, polite and competent staff. Effective and fast service. It was a fancy restaurant with live piano music and even singing. The friend who told me about this store told me that I should dress up a bit, so I tried wearing a pearl necklace, and I was right. The only thing was that the price was so low that it made my eyes pop out. . . A dozen raw oysters, lobster pasta (the perfect amount for a Japanese person), grilled lobster, dessert, coffee, and a glass of wine (my companion drank it).Everything was delicious and we had a wonderful time!

Such a great restaurant with impeccable service. They can accommodate children too and suggested a great pasta dish with butter and tomato. Our little one loves it!! I love my fish stew. My aunt had 3 starters, smoked salmon, Lobster bisque. My cousin had pasta with lobster 🦞. All excellent. They had a great wine list too. Best of all, there live music. We all had a fun snd enjoyable evening. Will be back.

Delicious food in a great old school place.

Fish and chips is the other thing that Bentley’s has always been famous for and proof that, in London at least, if you want a decent fish supper, you have to go to a posh restaurant. A haddock fillet is steamed within a carapace of crisp batter and served with all the trimmings of handcut chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce.

Lovely family dinner - delicious food & wine, the standout dish was the lobster thermidor. We would recommend! Pretty expensive & surprised they charged for the bread, which we didn’t ask for so we assumed was included. Seems a bit tight when charging so much for courses

The service was unusually uneven, only two kinds of oysters available, one had to remind the waiters to top up wine. Spaghetti w lobster sauce was not so great as usual.

A birthday treat and oh, what a treat! This is our most visited restaurant of all time although of late trips have been less frequent for various reasons. We charged our wallets and put on our best clothes ready for a fine afternoon’s indulgence with full intentions of blowing the budget. Slipping back into this place is like a pair of comfy, familiar shoes but still with the wonder and anticipation of what is to come. Well, firstly some fresh as you like, immaculately prepared oysters that can only benefit from a helping of fizzy lube. I went for the scallop ceviche with grapefruit, pomegranate, chilli and BANG what a mouthful of flavour, coupled with the perfect soft, succulent, slithers of scallop (easy for you to say) this has to be my best ever raw dish. In my mouth/mind it was partytime with the most beautiful women, the best music the anticipation of the night ahead and the distant memory of youth when nights extended past 11pm. My main of halibut with smoked eel and morels was cooked to perfection with the fish superbly flaking and the earthy fungi and Smokey eel adding to a dish greater than the sum of its parts. Champagne flow coming towards the end we shared the Irish apple tart and, yet again, what a triumph. The bitterness of the apple was a revelation to me, and finished off a gut busting fishy feast of mega proportion. I don’t think it is normal to have every dish/course so perfect and to one’s complete satisfaction but that’s what happened today. It was my meal of the last year without question, and we have been to some top restaurants in that time, including multi-star places. I have to be fair, complained before about prices here, but this time I have no complaints. Apart from I can’t afford to eat here every week.

Gregory was an absolute legend. I made the right choice setting up at the Oyster Bar part of the restaurant as we got to chat away to him - and get all his recommendations. From the variety of oysters he picked out for us, to the dover sole and the negroni - everything was top class. The food and experience of the place was 10/10 - but Gregory made sure it felt like a 15/10. Thanks again 🤝

Outstanding seafood restaurant in Mayfair, very close to Picadilly Circus. We happened to see it while having a walk in the area and decided to have lunch just because we felt it appeared to be an attractive place. We were delighted with the food quality, the atmosphere and the attentions received from the waiters. Hopefully won´t be the last time for us.

This is a wonderful place to experience the top end of seafood. Very tasty and presented well. It is expensive, but a wonderful treat

I have lived in London for all of my life and have never been to Bentleys. Last Christmas my wife gifted my friend and I an Oyster opening Masterclass. What a wonderful experience hosted by the magnificent Federico and Pierluigi who were both extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. We followed the experience with lunch which was magnificent. The food and service was first class all orchestrated by the wonderful Michele. Thank you we will return.

Was recommended here by a good freind and wow we was not Disappointed . We were greeted at the desk by a very friendly host and promptly shown to our seats in the upstairs section. The restaurant was busy although all the atmosphere seemed to be in the outdoor section at the front and the upstairs alot quiter. Our waiter was prompt but not to quick so that we didn't feel rushed. The restaurant has a huge drinks selection and lots of cocktails which my wife is always fond of. The restaurant has an amazing oyster selection and they are one of our favourite things to have as a starter we got some advice on which oysters to try as there is quite a few native and non native species on offer. We ordered a whole lobster and a nice sirloin steak which were both cooked to perfection. Our complements to the chef as the garlic sauce that came with the lobster was amazing. If you are looking for a seafood restaurant with a wide selection then this is your place we will be back again for sure.

I have walked past this countless times thinking it was a tourist trap. It’s as far from that as is possible. A true hidden gem! The food was excellent, service was excellent and normally only seen at much higher price points. I will definitely be going back and would highly recommend

I can't say that the atmosphere inside fascinated me, but the food and the service we received from the employees were really good. The prices were a little expensive, but if you want to eat at a quality fish restaurant, I recommend it.

Overall enjoyed the lunch here, huge portions and service was very good. The place is relaxing and staff are welcoming. I had oysters which were extremely fresh, salt cod ravioli which was nice and the largest piece of turbot I've ever been served. All enjoyable but slightly bland/underwhelming. Turbot was on the dry side. I would return for the oysters and to try more of their cold shellfish but the cooked dishes were a little uninventive and overpriced in my opinion.

Got horrific food poisoning from the oysters. Contacted the restaurant but got an inadequate response and was pawned off to a consultant who acted as a food hygiene specialist but was instead just contracted by the restaurant. Will not be returning and I would advise others do not take the risk, as the after effects were debilitating.

Excellent quality of food and brilliant service. High quality or seafood. Couldn’t recommend it enough and will definitely be back.

We have ate here on numerous occasions in the past and enjoyed our meal, unfortunately this time our experience was not the best . We were only shown outdoor tables when there was numerous tables at the bar. The starters and desert were only average and if it wasn't for the main meal being good then total meal would have been disappointment. We expect more from a £200 lunch for 2 people.

Booked a table for lunch on Friday 22nd. Was our first time at this restaurant & were shown to our table on arrival. Our only disappointment was the tables were quite close together but when a larger table next door became available we were allowed to move. The food & service were excellent all afternoon & we had a great time.

Bentleys is excellent for fish and shellfish. Indeed the oysters were superb and the fish pie really good along with the lobster. What spoils it is an overpriced wine list accompanied by an obvious very rapid pouring of the bottle at an early stage in the meal, meaning the host is almost obliged to order a second bottle. This trick is by no means exclusive to Bentleys but a little more discretion and decorum in this department would go a very long way.

If money is no issue and you fancy nice sea food and a tipple in a discreet corner in crowded central London, then this may be your kind of place.

Great restaurant and less expensive than some. Delicious turbot, fish pie and indeed everything except the Dover sole meuniere, which was not good and left half uneaten - it really didn't seem fresh enough. So, disappointed by that - but only that. I will certainly return to Bentley's

We came for the grilled lobster and were not disappointed! It was delicious. Desserts as well were really nicely presented and amazing. Great experience highly recommend !

Absolutely lovely! A (slightly) old fashioned fish restaurant wouldn’t not have been my choice, but I was here as someone’s guest….but it was simply brilliant. The oysters (rock variety) were beautifully meaty and tasty. Can recommend the ‘Catalonian’ variety especially. The Cornish crab coglichiette was a buttery delight, I couldn’t put my spoon down! Service was so organised and proper, but without being too formal. Even the bread and butter was delicious and moorish. This is not a modern ‘vibey’ restaurant but it is great food, fairly priced with brilliant service. Perhaps best for when parents are visiting or a slightly older crowd. Bravo! Amended - After a second visit I can only recommend it even further. Wonderful.

Bentley's is known for serving “the freshest oysters in London” with traditional English elegance spread across three areas - a hectic downstairs featuring a marble-topped oyster bar, a large covered and heated outside area and a quiet upstairs. What is consistent throughout are the silver-platters, a hefty selection of shellfish, molluscs and oysters, well-coiffed waiters and white tablecloth-style tables. The original owner William "Bill" Bentley started selling oysters from an oyster barrow by the pier in Clacton-on-Sea, leading him to open Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill in 1916. For all its history and grandeur, Bentley's is pricey. Great seafood in the heart of Mayfair costs. The traditional fish and chips will set you back £27.50 while a turbot served with a bit of creamy potatoes priced at £49.50. The popular royal platter is priced at £100. Bentley's offers a pre-theatre Royal Shellfish Platter from Sunday to Thursday, 5:00pm to 6:30pm. In this occasion, the service was inconsistent and aloof for the exception of Ioana who was exceptionally accommodating, witty and knowledgeable of the oysters menu. If you are ordering oysters give the hot rock garlic baked a try. At £4.50 each, they are beautifully balanced combination of cheese, garlic and spices. Their Vietnamese-dressed raw oysters are also a treat, with a rosé-pink broth punchy with sweet citrus and salty fish sauce, and topped with coriander leaves and tiny rings of deep-fried shallot. The mashed potato is outstanding, give it a try. The apple tart (£13.75) was unfortunately disappointing and not recommended.

At the price point, this is fine dining prices but there is a lack of coordination and overall cohesive approach to delivering service. The food is excellent but there is clearly a disconnect and inconsistency between front of house and the kitchen, plus the overall level of training and floor management shows that the owners need to invest in more training and process to deliver the premium service experience at the price point they wish to charge. You will get good food here but I would hate to go there if it is busy as it is clear this team need better leadership, clearer definition of roles and responsibilities and more incentives for staff to fulfill those roles. Rather than what feels like additional pressure on the staff without support. My single biggest bugs were a dining hall left unattended on multiple occasions. A long wait for first order, despite there being few customers, but the most frustration was a tiny toilet that was left dirty by a previous customer that left me waiting for the next venue to use the loo as I won't use a pebble dashed khazi. But what do I know. I am just a fat, 39 year old guy who came here for dinner with his friend.

This place in Central London is a seafood lover's dream. The outdoor space adds to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a perfect spot in the city. Prices are reasonable for the area. I've been here a couple of times without a reservation, and the staff has always been accommodating, going the extra mile to find us a table. The only drawback is that the menu feels a bit limited if you're not into seafood. Overall, a great choice for fresh seafood with excellent service, just be mindful of the menu variety.

We went to Bentley’s for Christmas eve. The food was sensational. They had a gentleman playing music for the outdoor terrace which was a nice touch. The only constructive comment would be the placement of the tables outside as we sat weirdly close to people. Aside from that, perfect experience.

We always spend the week before Christmas in London. Each year we try all the hot new restaurants but we always save one lunch time for a visit to Bentley's. Our tradition is to sit at the same table every year, a dozen oysters, drink champagne, eat one classic menu dish, such as dover sole and try one of the daily specials, same thing every year since 2007. The service is always exemplary, the food is perfectly prepared and the surroundings are warm and comfortable. Please don't ever change.

food was good but not sure how they work their pricing out ?crab cake special 23.50£ was mostly potato. Seafood cocktail £29.50 wasn't great and lacked cocktail sauce . foods generally really good but super expensive for what you get. service was excellent .Sat in the bar area and every time the door opened was freezing .

Charming, warm and appealing. The service was stellar! The muscles and crab soup was wonderful. The oysters sublime and Turbot magnificent. Highly recommended from a Brit was not disappointed.

The waiter is professional! The vibe is amazing and romantic! Lovely decoration.! But sorry for my honesty, the main course is terrible, too salty!! And the salad sauce is too much for the prawn cocktail and the chef should double check the food before delivered to their guest. Except the above matters, this restaurant is amazing.

The pre visit details and check-ins were very thorough. At dinner in the upstairs dining area the scallop appetizer was excellent. The special with truffle was underwhelming, unfortunately the white shaved truffle on the fish was close to tasteless. Service was slow and having a neighboring table with children playing, screaming and sliding under the table was annoying.

Fantastic dinner - fresh oysters, champagne, crab pasta, fresh fish, and a superlative sticky toffee pudding. Upscale, yet comfortable.

A few month ago, I had wonderful dinner here. The food was really superb. And the chef who came from Milano was literally nice, but unfortunately I forgot his name. I want to visit here again.

Imagine the following embarassing experience: Dear friends from abroad contacted me last-minute that were visiting London and would like to taste some nice fish menu. I called at the restaurand asking for a table for 5 people at 6:30pm and spoke to a lady who said that they only had a table for 5 people at 6pm and would be available for 2 hours. She asked if I was ok with that and I said yes. I thanked her and we said bye while hanging up the phone. My friends arrived first only a few minutes after 6 and were told that there is no reservation, so they left. I arrived at around 6:15 and there were 2 ladies at the reception pretending they did not know anything: a) asking initially if I had called another restaurant, b) when giving them the telephone number I used, they pretended that this number was wrong to later check that was correct, c) pretending that there was no such reservation, d) pretending they did not know anything about my call, d) pretending they did not have my name, and only after I was insisting and the manager appeared in front of them, suddenly changed their story: that indeed was one of the ladies I spoke to over the phone... and supposedly the line was interrupted...and was not sure if had confirmed about the reservation... and suddenly she changed again the story and tried in front of her manager to make me appear as if I had not understood that all this time she was telling me that there was a table (sic!) and if I would be happy to have the table up till 8pm (!) Such attitudes do not belong to a restaurant pretending to be of fine dining. They made me appear to my friends as unreliable. I made my friends take a taxi to get there promptly only to be told that there was no reservation! The receptionists tried to full me and trick me and created major inconvenience to me and my friends as on a Saturday night before Christmas in London we ended up trying to find another restaurant... One before making a reservation should ask for recording of the communication, reference number, confirmation by e-mail, stamps from the police and cameras to be sure that they will not be inconvenienced. Mistakes happen but to try to cover them with chip and cheeky unprofessional manners is unforgivable.

Popped in on the off-chance for a pre-dinner snack and drink. Despite it being busy, I was greeted with a warm welcome and was found a delightful table on the terrace. I had to wait a while for my guest but the staff were entirely accommodating. Oysters and wine were superb. Seaweed butter for the bread was out of this world. Expensive yes, but it was all so very pleasant. I wish we had been able to stay for dinner, but we will be back very soon for the full experience.

In fairness, our starters were good... But after an hour and twenty minutes, we'd still only had our starters. Our mains, when they eventually arrived, were so very, very bad. The lobster was undercooked and slimy, the turbot overcooked and manky. When we asked for these to be taken away (not even replaced), we were met with an astonishing amount of resistance from our waiter - don't tell us we're wrong, we don't want food poisoning - so we left after only the starter. Then the games began: I have never encountered a serving staff so keen to buy my silence. Our birthday celebration was entirely ruined... And because we wasted so much time not getting served, we couldn't even find an alternative. I've never had such a bad fish restaurant experience before.

Wanted a real treat and while most things were good, I was looking for a wow. The service was not 5 stars. I’ve had better. They allowed us in the restaurant when we arrived. We booked the terrace but it was -2. The shellfish cocktail was great, the main a bit underwhelming. I had the turbot and it came with a tiny bit of mash and the sauce had no flavour. There were sides to buy but nothing seemed to compliment it. How hard would it be to create a full meal that would leave me with a contented belly. The desserts were overpriced. The sticky toffee pudding was average. It’s my favourite dessert and I’ve had 50 to compare it to and it’s at the bottom end. Expected more from this place and had a kebab later on. It’s a shame.

We have been to Bentleys on several occasions over the years as we enjoy the environment, the quality of food and the fact that it has been established in London for so long. In these respects we were not let down starting with the Xmas décor. The food was as always great and we both enjoyed it. Two minor complaints would be that upon arrival it seemed disorganized and our table was not ready. Front of house did not know what to do and the bar was full so we were left standing and in the way of staff. Fortunately another member of staff after 10 minutes rescued us with a solution :-). Secondly one of my bug bears is when a table is not cleared during dinner of items that have bene finished with or not required. Our waiter did not seem to want to do this and items such as pre dinner drinks and bottles and dirty plates remained throughout.

Great food and definitely good service tamas was serving us great guy very helpful. Pastas are must have and soups are great
