Benny T's in Falkirk

Our friends who visit us from America like to experience “proper Fish and Chips” We always take them to Benny T’s. Even though we live in Edinburgh, that’s where we take them and have never been disappointed.

This is the second time we have used the takeaway side of this restaurant,and the second time we have been disappointed.A simple fish supper spoilt by reheated dry fish obviously the time of day dictates whether you get freshly cooked fish or dry reheated fish.We will not be returning.

Gluten free was tiny yet more expensive than the regular fish. Ice cream was crunchy with ice where it’s obviously thawed and then been frozen again. Usually Benny T’s is nice but we found it disappointing this evening.

Our first trip to Benny T’s and it certainly won’t be our last! The portions are perfect and my Husband who has a gluten allergy was catered for and said it was the best fish and chips he has ever had! He also had his favourite dessert, a banana split. Kids meals are excellent, my daughter finished her whole burger(unheard of for her) and was devastated she had no room for dessert….. Honestly cannot recommend this restaurant enough and we can’t wait to come back. Staff are so lovely and polite and you can see they’ve been trained with a great work ethic.

Food and service was excellent and definitely worth a visit. Fish flaked and not a spot fat on the plate. Haggis was pipping hot ant full of flavour

This is a great place to visit after a weary day - for us, we'd had a few activities in Falkirk that day and we went on the off-chance we'd get a table. We were seated and fed promptly. All in all - a great visit.

We regularly have "carry out" from this amazing local outlet. We also visit the restaurant for special occasions. In our opinion, the "special fish supper", two pieces of battered and crumbed haddock served with plenty of good chips, slice of lemon and home-made tartare sauce is "the best". It's also enough to feed two normal appetites. But it doesn't end there - they also make very acceptable pizzas and almost anything fried you can imagine. They also offer gluten-free, and grilled fish as options. They have a special lunch menu - for me the highlight is home-made minestrone soup.

My wife and I dropped in for dinner after an afternoon shopping unaware of the restaurant now added to the takeaway that had been there years before. The busy car park was a promising sign, and I am pleased to say we enjoyed our experience and will likely return. We ordered two breaded fish sips. One haddock, one cod. Both were well cooked and really delicious. Service was a delight. The relatively young team of servers have been trained well and have an evident commitment to customer service. This unpretentious restaurant was an unexpected delight.

This was our first visit but won’t be the last. We ordered a vegetarian pizza, fish supper & mushy peas. The pizza was excellent, perfectly cooked thin crust, toppings were nicely chopped not hulking great big lumps. Really delicious. The fish was in a light, crispy batter, good chips, good mushy peas in a recyclable container.

Very accommodating staff. We booked a table and ended up arriving half an hour early and staff were brilliant. Service was great and food tasted lovely. We were celebrating a birthday and staff brought cake out for our daughter and offered us plates to eat it there and then which most places would frown upon since we brought it in ourself.

Ventured here for 2 haggis suppers in the takeaway section. Very disappointed at the extended wait in the queue whilst other customers arriving after me were served and departed the venue. Found when I actually received my order that the chips were quite soggy and the haggis looked like a big lump in greasy batter. Not at all appealing and a bit pricey for what you were served up. Sad to say will not be returning in a hurry and was surprised at the quality as had heard this was a great place to eat. Appreciate everyone's opinion is different but this was genuinely my experience on this occasion.

Lovely fish and chips in a really rather spotless place! My only tiny wish is ‘marrow fat peas’ would be replaced with “garden peas”.That is simply down to preference.I did ask and was advised only beans coleslaw or marrowfat.Fair enough. Really well cooked,well presented fish and chips and wedge of lemon.😀

This is a long way from my house! And we stay over in the area every year so I can visit the magnificent Kelpies sculptures which are just a few miles from the best gluten free fish and chips I have ever eaten. The staff are just lovely, and knowledgeable, and so friendly. Mark the owner takes great pride in producing not just tasty food for us special people who have coeliac disease and eat gluten free, but he is meticulous about the importance of not one bit of cross contamination. The menu is big so if you don’t like fish there’s plenty to choose from. The portions are huge and everything is cooked to order. Thanks to Mark and Dominique for making my 43rd wedding anniversary special. See you next year..if not sooner ❤️👍

The pescetarian's lament, 'where oh where to have great fish and chips cooked in vegetable oil not beef dripping'...Look no further. Not only does Benny T's deliver this rare treat, they do so to an exceptional standard. Gluten free? No problem. They offer that as well. Polite, cheerful staff and fast service. Pleasant enough decor and scrupulously clean, with no conversation-drowning muzak. But most importantly excellent food in generously sized portions. Now that we've found this exceptional place we'll be back. After all the occasions when an enquiry about the cooking method is met with a look of complete disinterest, it's refreshing to come across an enterprise that understands the importance of good service and accessible fare for everyone, not just the carnivores among us.

Had lunch there with my wife and while my 2 course fixed price lunch was nice and fairly priced my wife's ham salad and portion of chips were overpriced and fairly average. Soft drinks were also pretty expensive

This the best fish and chips in Scotland. Would highly recommend. Service was excellent and my wife and I will be back soon.

Never been disappointed! Great food, great prices and only 5 minutes from my house!! Was very pleased when they re-opened further to Covid. Staff seem to be coping really well with challenging circumstances and now wearing Benny T face coverings. Would highly recommend!!!

Visited on Sat evening. Purchased 1 large and 1 small haddock suppers. Very dissappointed, both fish a stodgy mess and chips undercooked ! I have eaten here at least 100 times so i know the difference ? Maybe unlucky for once. Maybe the crisis, or the oil unchanged ? We were so looking forward to our grand night out !! Whilst this is typically a great place to enjoy fish & chips, either in restaurant or takeaway shop, on 6th March lunchtime, it fell short.At takeaway shop the fish & chips and fish & black pudding ordered were both barely hot and therefor not really pleasant. The young girl serving was as miserable as you like, with neither a smile to the customer or any basic please / thank you manner.C'mon Benny Ts You can do better (and usually do).

Went in here today for lunch as we had passed this restaurant several times, thought we would give it a try today.......what a mistake. We went into the restaurant and stood waiting to be seated, saw that several members of staff were behind the bar speaking with customers about the new £20 notes. We waited, one of the waitresses eventually turned round, told us she would be with us in a couple of seconds and then went back to the conversation. We waited again, she walked passed us to the till ignoring us standing there. My husband and I decided to leave, as we were leaving this girl was laughing at us leaving, I said to the girl I would have said thank for the service and food but as we had none I told her I could not. She thought it was funny. My husband and I were really sorry to have disturbed the staff when they were having conversations. The local Tesco is highly recommended for sandwiches which are served with a smile.

Neither my wife or I could face cooking on Sunday evening after a long day taking care of the older part of our family. On the way home we decided to stop in at Benny T's for a quick bite to eat. Lovely clean welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant attached to the take away. Staff greeted us and led us to a table. Menu was a basic chip shop one with the added bonus of fresh baked pizza. Very friendly waitress took our soft drinks and food order. Pizza for me and breadcrumb fish for my wife. All came together and reasonably quick, we both enjoyed and finished the freshly made food, paid the bill and went home very satisfied.Staff fantastic, premises excellent and clean, food excellent, cost very reasonable, would I visit again, most definitely. Shown to booked table. Drinks ordered, soda and lime with a straw along with a glass of tap water with no ice. Drinks delivered without a straw and ice added. I do not have ice in drinks due to potential hygiene contamination issues!Mail meals ordered were plaice and chips and a steak pie and chips.( Waiter brought the wrong type of fish and returned with correct one).Good presentation of meals. Fish tasty as it should be. My steak pie came with a small jug of gravy. Pie was bit dryish however with the gravy (which was necessary) was also good.Deserts were a good quality ice cream and apple tart with ice cream and pouring cream. ( I did ask whether the cream was pouring or the squirty stuff).All areas very clean and restaurant busy.Would recommend it if passing as it also has a takeaway fish and chip counter.Service all right but with the amount of diners present (I suspect on a daily basis) would expect a more experienced staff by now.

A cracking restaurant for fish and chips. Always freshly prepared and delicious. Fish is tasty, fresh and yummy . Pleasant friendly staff serving , we always book so as not to be disappointed!

I took my two grown up kids here for lunch recently... and very pleasant it was too. Very clean, not too busy, good friendly service and a really excellent menu to cater for three very discerning palates. Whilst I tucked into my haddock and chips I asked myself, "why haven't we ever been back here for over 12 years?" The standard of food quality and service is still very high but it must have been around 2007 since we last ate here.As I pointed out the table where we sat the last time I had brought my kids here, the memories flooded back.........back then, my kids were 6 and 4 years old. I told them it was a very posh restaurant and that they had to be on their best behaviour. The menu was a tad cheaper in those days mind you! We were sitting next to the toilets, the restaurant was fairly busy but quiet. A woman sitting up on the elevated section got up and crossed the floor to go the the ladies. Child 2 had clocked her, then asked in an extremely loud voice for all to hear..."Daddy, is that lady going for a pee or a pooh?".The group of people at the table the woman had just left, erupted with laughter. I was mortified. That was maybe the reason we hadn't been back for 12 years! Anyway that's all in the past, my children are somewhat less embarassing these days so I am well prepared to risk taking them back again on a regular basis.....although I would just love for my daughter to go to the loo so I can shout out " ARE YOU GOING FOR A PEE OR A POOH?". Karma, you see?All in all, for simple fresh, tasty competitively priced food, I would recommend this restuarant, much more preferable to the more corporate establishments...just be aware of beady-eyed 4 year olds if you head to the toilets though!

decided to have a chippy take away as a birthday treat. Having eaten in Benny T's and had many takeaway's from here in the past, i was looking forward to it - what a let down, not only did they forget to put the pickles in my order, my fish was like a dry stick with the batter hard and stiff - i'll be picking somewhere else next year and i won't be in a hurry to return in the future

What a great place if you want quality fish and chips. Just the right amount of batter on beautifully cooked fillets; and the chips pretty wonderful too. And to top it all the staff are very nice and helpful.

Sausage supper came with 2 tiny sausages. Only chippy I've ever been in that uses normal sized sausages. Still charged the same as the other places do for the jumbo ones. Also not battered very well. Chips were nice though

On the way back from a weekend away, we came off the motorway intending to have lunch in Linlithgow. The streets are traffic lights and dug up, nowhere to park.Decided to go on to Falkirk, spotted this place and decided to give it a try.Restaurant looked brand new { it has been open 15 years we were told } We had the special lunch menu 2 courses for £10. i had the chicken pate to start then breaded fish and chips. Husband had minestrone soup then breaded fish and chips. We really enjoyed our meal, staff were efficient and the premises are spotlessly clean.

We were recommended this place by a friend/colleague of ours and never got a chance to try it out until now. Visiting my folks and knowing that they love fish and chips we thought this would be the best restaurant to try. As dad is disabled Benny T's proved to be ideal for him getting out of the car and a ramp available and got a perfect table so we didnt have to walk far when we got inside. Passing the wonderful selection of ice creams whilst heading to the table I knew that mum would be having some after her fish and she did and we joined her. As we arrived just after opening time , it was quiet and suited our purpose. Best perhaps book at other busier times though.

Can't beat a wee visit to Benny T's !! Both takeaway and sit in are great. I prefer the option of sitting in. Lovely restaurant inside with plenty tables and different seating areas. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Always look forward to returning here! They have just got it SPOT ON !

Fancied a chicken burger but although it said served with fresh green salad, sliced gherkin and a choice of relish or mayo when hubby brought it home there was no salad or gherkin. Mayo looked curdled and although it says they are made of chicken breast meat it doesn’t mention that it’s minced chicken. Usually get fish or haggis so will stick to that if I go back. Disappointing.

I ordered chips and cheese what I didn't expect was the server to put salt all over the cheese instead of on the chips absolutely horrible couldn't eat it. Been here before and found it alright quality and cost didn't add up for me but gave it another chance. Won't be back

Got a wee visit from my dad and he told us all to get her jackets on and we would go a wee run, we came here and very glad we did. My 3 son's absolutely loved there chicken bites and chips and the fish was fantastic... what better way to finish it that the amazing ice cream. The staff were very attentive and one especially stood out I think by the name of eva, not 100% but we visited Thursday around tea time. Will defo be back!!

Never ever had decent Fish and Chips in Scotland but we have now on our visit to the Kelpies.Fab food and top service from Hannah.No blaring music and pleasant atmosphere.Only one complaint.No garden peas on the menu but a delightful visit.

Had a fish supper from here, for the first time in a few months. I always get the Special. As usual it tasted great, but I have to say, that I thought the portion size wasn't particularly great, as it once was. The fish was nowhere near the size it used to be, and there wasn't exactly a lot of chips. The box it came in wasn't exactly bursting at the seams. Maybe it was my imagination. As i said, food was as tasty as ever...just a wee bit more would have been nice.

Was visiting the Kelpies, and found this place on TripAdvisor. They try in vegetable oil, so that was a positive start.

I have never had a bad meal from Benny Ts. The fish is delicious and they do great chips, while I enjoy the Patrick’s products too. I had the haggis supper tonight and it was great.

This is the best fish and chip restaurant in the Falkirk are. The restaurant is really good. Staff are so welcoming and helpful. Food is consistently good. I really like that they use local butchers for their haggis, burgers and sausages which are really good quality. One of our party had a pizza which they said was one of the best they had had. The desserts are also very good Betty’s caramel apple pie is excellent and of course they have Scottish Tablet ice cream!!

Visited Benny T's for first time. Nice environment, staff were prompt and pleasant.There were extremely limited options for vegetarians which was disappointing.

We paid our first visit here after a day with 2 grandsons at the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. It was a good decision as we were treated to superb fish and chips all round. Our 3-year old ate all his Kids portion of fish and chips and then helped his Grandma to eat her haddock Our other grandson had the cod and ate all of that. I had the haddock in panko breadcrumbs and that was superb. All in all this was the best fish and chips we've had in a very long time. To top all that the service we recived was first class. I can drive here from home in under an hour and will certainly be back

Myself, family and some close friends have used Benny T’s for some years now on a regular basis using the takeaway and restaurant facilities and never had a complaint.

Was suggested by our Airbnb host- when he heard we were traveling to the area. Lovely lunch. My partner had the fish and chips, I had the fried blood pudding and haggis. The wait staff were excellent!

Our fish and chips were freshly made. The batter was crispy and the chips were lovely. The surroundings are very nice and the staff were very attentive. All in all a good experience.

A great place for a fish tea. The special haddock is fabulous great value for money. The restaurant Area is always well patronised and is a popular local eatery.

This place is a little gem, staff attentive and excellent wholesome fare. I had the special haddock, was very tasty and light which you rarely experience in a chippy. Chips were really good. Five out of five, definatley be back.

We went to go and sit in the restaurant bit but found the menu to be very small for choice, as vegetarians the only thing to order was pizza and chips so we decided to get a take away instead. Much more choice and was very tasty. Waited 5 minutes as it is all cooked from fresh, well worth the wait. Will be going back (for the take away).

Got a takeaway from here on the way home from work for the wife and I. Ordered a sausage supper and a fish supper. Sausage was burnt. The fish was soggy/greasy and a grey colour inside rather than white like it used to be. The chips were decent. Think we will be going elsewhere next time.
