Bengal Brasserie Lisburn Road in Belfast

This is quite simply the worst restaurant in Belfast by a distance. I urge you not to go. I was there with a group of friends on a Saturday night and food took 2 hours to come. In that time not once did someone come to check on us or apologise for the delay. At one stage we asked for food and a grinning idiot said it was coming. It arrived 40 mins later. There were several tables round us who arrived after, ordered food and left before our food came. In fact one table did this twice before ours came. My food wasn't even warm when it arrived and was very average. It is obvious this place cannot operate and should shut down. Please do so and stop wasting peoples time.

We went here this evening for valentines day having booked over a week ago in advance. We were not aware it was only a valentines set menu being offered as it was not advertised anywhere so we were slightly disappointed as we wanted to try curries beyond the typical 6 dishes offered. We were seated very quickly in a nice area. We asked for two cocktails from the menu on our table and were told that cocktails were not on offer this evening. That's fair, it was quite busy, just unfortunate that they had cocktail menus on all the tables. We ordered two spirits and mixers, however unfortunately, only one spirit and two mixers arrived. Easy mistake so we didn't make a fuss. Starters were gorgeous. We were offered a drinks refill so I tried to reorder my missing spirit. It never arrived at any point during the rest of our sitting and our waitress was down a few times to the table. Mains were good but they weren't outstanding. Overall, the menu felt overpriced compared to their usual menu. Also disappointing that the menu offers tea or coffee as a fourth course which is never offered. We were offered a dessert menu for paid desserts instead. Overall, not a terrible experience, but could have been so much better for the prices.

We were a single table of 17, booked for 7.30. By 7.45 we still were waiting then were shown to 2 tables, which we pointed out to the waiter that we wanted one table as agreed at the time of booking. Then the food didn't arrive until 9.15, and was like warm. Poor attitude from the staff, medicore bland food. Won't be back.

Got a delivery and was absolutely stinking the lamb jalfrazie was the worst I never had if you could call it a jalfrazie it was all watery and nothing like a jalfrazie and the rest was not great, would not go back to the Lisburn road one stay away never again and the irony to ask for over £50 was a disgrace for the quality of the food very poor.

Food didn’t come. Driver said he phoned but no missed calls and did not ring the door bell as we would have heard. Disappointed as we always get out of here, waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes on the food to ring back and be told we were getting no food considering it was is late and everywhere is closed.

This is by far the best Indian food in Belfast, and I've visited the vast majority of them. If you like Chicken Tikka Masala then try their Chicken Tikka Balti, its so good. They have amazing food, great service, and a date night ambiance. They also make the best espresso martinis I've ever had, ever.

Lovely family meal last night food amazing and great service highly recommend

Have visited this restaurant twice in Belfast, once with my family at Christmas 2022, and more recently this weekend Sept 2023 for my dads 70th Birthday celebration. The food was amazing and service was so attentive. The staff also kindly allowed us to display birthday balloons before his arrival which made a lovely surprise, along with presenting him with our birthday cake with music. It was an amazing experience at the restaurant and we will cherish those memories. The staff even kindly took photos of us at the table. Hopefully be back again soon- thank you to all the staff for such a great evening for my dads birthday.

The restaurant is clean and beautiful compared to the restaurants in the city... I ordered tikka masala, vegetable samosa, eggplant edamame, and chicken in a pot, along with lentil soup... The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the price is reasonable... I will visit again...

Fantastic food, very quick and friendly service, and great price. Went for my mums birthday and they brought us out a lovely ice cream cake dessert when we had finished our meal.

Very disappointed. We decided to get a takeaway for our choice as a special treat. The food took over an hour to arrive. This was a takeaway. We waited to only get our order that was missing some things. My husband phoned and explained politely that we were missing a starter and an extra portion of rice. The receipt showed we only had paid for what was delivered which was great but we still wanted our food. The manager was not helpful and kept saying we had ordered wrong when in fact we had not and the order was not took down right. We give in and decided no point in trying to explain this as the manager seemed in a hurry and the conversation felt rushed. He was also adamant it was not his fault. After opening the food to find it very cold we phoned again to say we were really not happy. My husbands starter was the only thing relatively warm so he had that after waiting so long for food. The manager wanted us to pack the food back up and he would get driver to come back however, it could be some time waiting on the driver. We decided we could drive over to leave the food in for reimbursement as we were very hungry at this point and didn't want to wait much longer. We explained the starter had been eaten. He had a good look at the food and mentioned this. We couldn't believe that this manager was behaving in such a rude manner. We had now wasted over an hour and a half after all of this and we had to then go get ourselves something to eat for dinner. We were reimbursed in the end by the manager giving us our money back after my husband asking for it. We are disappointed and hope the manager in future acts more professional and polite. We will be avoiding this place and so will our families after how this situation was dealt with. Such a waste of time.

Excellent, very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Generous sized portions with an amazing taste. Came for my wife’s birthday and the staff bringing a cake and candle at the end made it a special and memorable occasion. Highly recommended for a special night out. Happy and lively atmosphere

Me and my girlfriend got a take away, a chicken bhuna and a lamb palak. After 15 min we finished our meal, we both started to have heartburn and cramps and we had it till the following afternoon. We had no other food that day a part from a salad at lunch. Definitely not a recommendation, not sure what ingredients they used, but dodgy!

Food was OK, nothing special, lamb was chewy, staff made a point of being very noisy as it was near the end of service, it's as if they don't think they should be serving you, left a tip but won't be back

Not for those who want authentic Indian cuisine and who cook indian food themselves Arguing with me that a savoury dish wasnt too sweet doesn’t make it taste better Starters were passable Best part was warm poppodoms. This is a perfect place for those who like western versions of food from subcontinent and i figure that is why the rating is high.

Came with a big party of around 10 people. Service was very slow, food arrived more than 1.5 hours after we ate seated. The server who took the food orders was stuck up and not very nice. He spoke in a condescending manner and was harsh to correct when we inserted a naan order when ordering mains. *eye rolling moment* 😏 However, the lady server for drinks was delightful! Very polite and accommodating. Briyani was clumpy, onion bhaji was not bad. Would not recommend this place at all! At least not for £40 a pax.

Spicy garlic and chilli chicken was good

I bought a carryout. The food was excellent but I was disappointed with the samosas. These were small, and crispy deep fried 'til there was no food left in the centre. I prefer the more traditional samosa. The atmosphere (was I was waiting in the entrance area) was very fancy Indian dining for mixed adults (not the usual cheap place with no atmosphere).

Food was faultless. Service left alot to be desired. The starter we ordered never arrived with no explanation despite informing the staff, and clearing the table seemed like an inconvenience.

Korma was watery, no flavour just watery. Lamb starter was charcoal burnt I could have drew the Mona Lisa with it it was so burnt. Keema naan was a game called search for the keema and this was the best but of the meal in all won’t be buying here again awful just awful and it cost me £29.00 for a meal for one what is happening to the world

The service was awful. Didn’t get drinks served and had to physically go up to get them also forgot our starter, got it with the main course after reminding them. Then my Nan bread didn’t come I get it instead of rice with the main course and had to request it again. It arrived overdone requested another one that wasn’t burned that arrived quickly. No apologies or a complimentary drink got the poor service. We have been going to this restaurant for a long time New Years service was awful too but you excuse that when you can see how busy it is but the other night was not that busy so no excuse for poor service

Wish I could give zero star! I booked a table for our anniversary and had requested them to arrange good table through phone call as I’m from England. During the visit they didn’t even check for the booking and when I asked them they said they can’t arrange and we had to come personally to take care of arrangements which they never mentioned on phone call. The food was terrible 😣 We had ordered Onion Bhajji which had very little salt and Palak paneer which was very pathetic. They also gave us a complimentary cupcake which was very dry and had no taste in it. Later next day we went to “BITES OF INDIA”, it tasted authentic Indian. So if someone wants to taste proper Indian food I would recommend BITES OF INDIA over Bengal Brasserie.

I am a regular at this restaurant I go 2-3 times a week and every time I can’t fault it. The service is fabulous. The staff are friendly and speedy at getting food and drink orders out even in busy periods. The food is fabulous I think I’ve had almost everything on the menu. Personally I recommend the tandoori salmon. 🙂

Really lovely place, beautiful food but the price is so high. For most meals its around £16 or £17 and thats not including the rice, it's another £2.95 for that. We were charged for 3 wines when we only had 2.

Lighting awful. Could not easily read the menu. Also, waited 15_20 minutes for a beer. However, food was good. Pity about the drink prices. Way over the top.

Booked a table of 2, was my partners birthday. Nice decor and clean restaurant, placed by the window with the sun shining on us which was nice. Service was really good, 2 out of the 4 waiters who served us were outstanding. Cannot remember his name but i informed him of the birthday cake so he told us not to worry he would make it special. Starters were tasty, onion baji and seekh kebab. Mains were Chicken Punjabi Curry and tarka daal. The chicken curry was too sweet to be honest, asked for spicy but it was sweet. Daal was tasty. The waiter sure did do a display with a happy birthday song played and put candles on the cake. That was so nice of him to do so, he went out his way. Shame we didn't get his name would have given a tip. The waiter in the stripy shirt was on and off with his service. Nonetheless the food was not bad, partner didnt enjoy his mains, we were asked by the waiter as some stuff was untouched (due to the sweetness). Recommend for a nice evenjng meal.

The reason I gave this a 4 star is because of the service. The food is lovely but 7 of us went out and we were at 2 tables (due to covid regulations) and 1 table got their food AND was finished by the time we got our food. They did however give us a free shot of sambuca or free glass of Baileys. They were very apologetic and for that reason I'd give them a 4 star and not 5. Other than the waitress getting orders wrong and food being late they were friendly, very busy and food was lovely.

Always good here one of my favourites, very modern and clean inside, great food and helpful and friendly service, have always given me a Complimentary drink on the house at the end of my meal witch is a nice personal touch 👌

Visited with family on a recommendation. Arrived early evening midweek having pre booked last minute. The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent. The restaurant was reasonably busy given the time of our booking. Very spacious which helps in these difficult times. Would definitely go there again.

Really horrible experience. The hotel staff was not welcoming, decided to have a take away only to realize after reaching home that one dish was missing. Ordered the chicken special which tasted like chicken dipped in sugar syrup. Would not recommend at all.

We've had takeaways over the years from here and generally the standard is pretty good. However tonight was quite shocking. One dish, chicken tikka masala was like water. Had to add half a tub of yoghurt to thicken it and the other, chicken jalfrezi ordered medium, was so hot we had to add the rest of the yoghurt. The garlic and coriander nan was undercooked and about 1/2 cm thin and complimentary poppadoms all broken. Hope you're not taking advantage because of covid as this food left a lot to be desired and won't be running back for a repeat performance and btw ... not inexpensive

If you have your doors open at 940 and people are able to Access the building walk in and two of you are standing behind the counter and lights are on people would reasonably expect that they might get served as it appears your open especially when ur social media says ur open to 10pm and you confirm this by phone. HINT 940 Isn't 10pm and if you intend not serving customers you should update your opening time info and maybe LOCK THE DOORS IF YOUR CLOSED

Estuve dos veces en la última quincena, un viernes por la noche con un amigo y esta noche con mi esposo. Ambas noches la comida ha sido excelente. Soy vegetariano y tenía los platos de acompañamiento palok paneer y dhal con arroz, mi amigo y mi marido tenían platos principales de pescado con un naan. Las porciones son generosas y la comida es deliciosa, muy ligera y nada pesada como la comida india que he tenido. Todo lo que puedo decir es que si no ha estado, no sabe lo que se está perdiendo. En una nota de Covid, el personal es muy bueno en el distanciamiento social y todos llevaban una máscara o visera a diferencia de otros restaurantes.

Incredible food and service. I enjoyed the jalfrezi which was delicious and quite spicy. Servers were very friendly and helpful.

We first turned up about a year ago and we invited 15 friends. They catered for all our needs and were just fabulous. We’ve been a few times since but last night was our first visit post the Wu flu. It was a notion as we were on a motorway heading home and rang to book. We couldn’t get our preferred time so agreed a bit earlier. The ever courteous staff greeted us warmly literally as we stepped out of the lift (it’s an upstairs restaurant) and we were seated quickly. Instead of menus we were given a barcode which we scanned and up came the menu. We had wonderful food - chicken tikka masala with pilau rice and my favourite here peswari nan with paneer and pea curry. As we live a long way we got some takeaway food for the freezer. Be warned though the tikka is artificially coloured but the taste and friendly service keep it five star.

Fuimos atendidos por una encantadora joven de cabello castaño con anteojos, no captó su nombre pero era muy educada y tenía una forma que no encontraría en muchos restaurantes. El servicio es un factor decisivo para nosotros y no podemos culparla. Trajo nuestros platos calientes, notó una marca en uno y comenzó a limpiarlos antes de decir que los reemplazaría. Todo esto fue dentro de los 20 segundos posteriores a la entrega de las placas. De repente, un hombre, que supongo que era un gerente ya que estaba en una camisa de color diferente y más clara que el resto del personal, vino detrás de ella y, en lo que solo puedo describir como un ser de manera agresiva, agarró el platos debajo de ella fuera de la mesa y se los llevó insistiendo en que "cambia los platos, cambia los platos". Pleasant inside. Poppadoms were served without asking. The little garnishes were distinctly odd. Onion salad had a tomato sauce on them. I didn’t like this and this is usually my favourite garnish. There was a milky yoghurt, then what tasted like tomato ketchup with some spice added!I ordered something that described as a saag paneer, but had a different title. Bland!Staff kept interrupting our conversation. When we wanted to pay they ignored us!Wine options s were very limited if you only wanted a glass. We were both served a Home Bargains lookalike mini bottle.

Popped in here for their lunchtime special of two courses fro £7.95 which was great value. The food was excellent. It was not busy so the large dining are was a bit cavernous. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit at lunchtime.

Sis and I popped in briefly and had a vegetable biryani and instead of a usual biryani sauce which usually consists of potatoes, peas, carrots, cauliflower and such, we are served a very small bowl of red suace with onions. What! We had to order another bowl and at £4.50 extra. I mentioned about the sauce when paying and the guy behind the coubter insisted it was a proper biryani suace. Sorry but I lived in London for over 40yrs and have eaten hundreds of biryas so they have got that seriously wrong and it didnt taste that good. Very disappointing!
