Bengal Brasserie in Moray

Excellent food. Our visit was spoiled by the waiter who appeared to be attentive to some and not others. Culminating in some customers receiving orange pieces at the end of their meal and some customers not being given the same courtesy. The food itself could not be faulted. We have had takeaway from here before but have not dined in before. Even when we gave a tip there was no thank you, no good evening, no query about whether we we were enjoying our meal. As before other customers were asked this and bid good evening.

Best Indian we’ve had in a while. Lovely flavours and beautifully fresh tasting food. Staff attentive, and food not overly priced. Will most definitely return and 100% recommend 👍

Where do I start my review of this lovely restaurant? From the moment we entered we were made so welcome. We had purchased a special deal via Living Social some months ago and were using the voucher before it expired. Our mains were delicious! The Cabernet Sauvignon house wine was very good too. We shared an Indian dessert option and I finished with a calypso coffee. The staff were very attentive and professional. Overall we had a lovely evening and can’t wait to return!

Totally disappointing. Ordered chicken tika balti,description medium hot thick sauce what I got was thin watery sauce with hardly any taste as though there wasn't any spices in it. Also ordered a garlic nan no taste of garlic and red dye on top. Have had curries from here before excellent don't no what happened this time.

Popped in on a Tuesday night . There were already a few groups sitting down. The staff were friendly. There is a wide range of drinks and the food was nice and of a decent serving. Will visit again when back in town.

We were on a short holiday and had carry outs twice, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent.

This is the best Indian food for miles. They are not afraid to make hot curries hot, unlike some others. When we holiday in the area we have food from there nearly every day! Their set meals are good value Can’t wait to go back

Eaten here many times in the past and but not in the last 2 years. Decided to try it tonight expecting the previous standard and taste. Really disappointing in every aspect. The young lad serving was miserable, he had no regard to basic table waiting. The chicken Jelfrazi and rice I ordered..... Arrived with cold rice and the Curry seemed liked it had been defrosted as the Chicken was tough and really chewy. The Nan bread was like a pastry. It had been nowhere near a clay oven. Avoid wasting your money and just head straight to Quismat in Elgin.....where proper Indian food is served with pride.

Been to this restaurant so couple of time when in the area over the past couple of years. Went again last night expecting high standards, unfortunately not so. Service by young man was without any real interest or care. Although the starters were okay the mains were not very good really. The lamb was so hard and full of gristle that it was indeed edible. We advised the waiter of this but he did not seem interested. We paid our bill and left and will not be returning

Disappointing take away dinner. Ordered poppadoms which were fine but main course sauces (Tikka Masala and Jalfrezi) seemed a bit runny. Taste ok but can’t forgive what was definitely a stale naan bread

The restaurant is large, airy and comfortable with friendly and attentive staff. Quality of the food was very good and tasty, portion size was plentiful and everything contributed to a very enjoyable meal. A complimentary plate of fresh fruit finished the evening. Fair value for money too!

Another top takeaway! Easy free parking outside in the small square. A short walk upstairs to pay and collect our order. The place was busy with seated customers. Friendly service. Expensive, but a most enjoyable meal.

Went here on Saturday night. It was really nice. The food was very tasty. Lovely staff very polite and attentive. The place itself had a nice atmosphere. I've heard mixed reviews about this place. But I would recommend this restaurant.

A meal of mixed results. A soft poppadum to start that could have done with a bit more crunch was accompanied by a lovely selection of sauces. The pakora was light and crispy - very tasty. The chicken karahi main, my favourite dish from that part of the world, was a bit bland and lacked the depth of flavour I’d have hoped for. Service was pretty swift and the Cobra was nice and chilled, so no complaints on that front.

Fantastic menu with very reasonable prices. Waiter staff all very good and assist whenever required. Always happy to eat here, always made very welcome. There can sometimes be a little wait for orders but everything made fresh so always worth a little wait as good always to a very high standard.

Yet again does not disappoint us with its excellent service and quality curries. I have always said I would never buy a curry unless someone can make it better than I could.

Had family visiting for the Easter weekend and decided to come here for dinner couldn’t complain about anything food was really good as was the service!Servers were all really friendly! Terrible service,had to wait far too long for starter,vegetable pakoras were 5 pieces the size of my children's marbles.Waited nearly 40 mins after starter before we got main dish only after husband complained and asked for the bill,2 minutes later main dish arrived.Expected better service so rather disappointed.

Food was nice and you could have as much as you wanted on the Buffett night. They were late to setup and the choice of food was limited to 3 dishes plus rice and naan.

A wonderful eating experience ,this place was recommended by a friend. A vast choice of dishes on the menu. Food was served hot , promptly and in a professional manner. Can not fault this place and will be back.

Living in Buckie we love to go to our favourite restaraunt. The Bengal Brasserie has always been our favourite. Two days ago we ate there. We had one of my favourites which is the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken. We also had Ginger Chicken Tikka Massala. The rice was good as always. Nothing to fault.

For the benefit of those lucky enough to have not experienced Bengal Brassiere, it is positioned upstairs just off the main square in Buckie.

So after a fantastic night we came to the conclusion that this could be the best Indian restaurant in Scotland

Our first visit and well worth the 45 minute drive. Parking right outside. Been in Moray for 6 years and have been seeking for a curry house that meets up to the standard we were used to in Stirling... Finally found it! Good menu and reasonably priced. The lamb mehti was delicious. Good portion size too. We will definitely be back

Living in Glasgow we are spoilt for Indian restaurants but the Bengal Brasserie is up there among the best - our favourite holiday stop ! Lovely staff

We had dinner here yesterday and it was delicious. There was an excellent selection of dishes and all our requirements were catered for. The staff were very friendly too and I look forward to eating here again.

We phoned an order for a large takeaway for 12 people. We were told the order would take 40 minutes, but it took over an hour (waiting at the restaurant for over 30 minutes). When it arrived everything was there. A slight problem being that an order of 3 onion bhajis turned into 3 portions (which is a total of 6 bhajis!).

A busy restaurant on a Saturday night with attentive service with a smile. We were well looked after and given recommendations for dishes. The food was delicious and well presented.

Excellent meal and great service. Nothing to fault at all. Had the Patia which was fab. Staff were very good.

My husband and I decided to visit the Bengal Brasserie be lunchtime for their 3 course lunchtime special.

Had a meal on Tuesday night and went for my favourite...Vindaloo. Unfortunately it was bland and poorly cooked. It looked like they had a Madras and added some green chillies to it but the chillies were still raw and hard. Obviously a curry needs to simmer for a bit to get best results. (and I have cooked many myself so I know what I am writing about) I really should have complained but the staff were friendly and I didn't want to upset them.

We are very sorry to hear that. If you have any problems just report to us and we will fix it. Oh and by the way we are thinking of modernising the restaurant soon. We will try not to be rude but the problem is a lot of managers have a high temper which even I have problems with. Again I am sorry.

I visited this restaurant twice in the space of 5 days. The first experience was great, the second was OK. The food is on the whole good, with the portions being quite large, which is unusual these days. But the prices would not be out of place in London, and even though the service is also good, the waiting staff are prone to errors. I would have loved to have given 5 stars, but it just falls short I'm afraid.

Buffet should be called set menu. They gave us a set starter and asked us which level of spice we’d like our curries and ended up with a korma. We went to the buffet to try something different and ended up having the same thing again?

Family who live locally love this place and had given it a big build up in advance of our visit. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the PR. My meal was broadly OK - slightly dry sheek kebab and then a tasty enough South Indian garlic and chilli lamb - nothing special but OK. However, my veggie wife opted for a paneer makhani which she has subsequently described as “the worst Indian dish” she’s ever had; tiny chunks of paneer drowning in an obscenely sweet electric yellow sauce. We won’t be rushing to return.

Our large family reserved a table for dinner on Hogmanay. Parking was easy opposite in Cluny Square.

We had booked a table for 8 but just before we arrived, two cancelled. We were seated, got our menus and drinks and the manager came over and very rudely told us he was very busy and we had to move tables as some of our party had cancelled. He had a big party coming in and needed our table for them. No help what so ever to carry our drinks popadoms and dips which were already on the table. If he had come up and simply said "sorry but would you mind moving tables as I have just had a booking for a large number" it wouldn't have been so bad. He was just plain RUDE. Now it makes you wonder how he would have coped if all our party had turned up!

A huge menu to choose from, advised on choice of main for myself. Food was delicious. Would recommend this place.

Pleasant food that was cooked well and enjoyed by the family.

Always make a point of having lunch here when catching up with friends. The lunch menu is great value for money with very generous portions. Food is so lovely and always greeted with a warm welcome/ I highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

Took our family here on the recommendation of our hosts at Kintrae B&B; and we were not disappointed. The selection of curries is excellent and I can highly recommend the chicken Jeera, amazingly tasty and not too spicy. The service was friendly and efficient and our children loved the korma!!

Hit or miss with Bengal Brasserie in Buckie, and in my experience, more often a miss. Ordered take away tonight, and portions very small (even when bulked out with tomato wedges), and expensive for what your getting. However, staff were friendly and efficient. It will be a while before I am back again. Disappointing really.

Went in and a waiter approached us so we said that we would like a table for 2 the waiter then said give me 2 minutes to be followed by another waiter to say sorry we have no tables so when we said we was told 2 minutes he then told us to take a said for a few minutes then another waiter approached us to ask if we were waiting so we said yes and there was 6 tables free then after about 5 minutes the 2nd waiter told us sorry we can't give you a table so needless to say we will not be going back as staff did not seem to care and seemed very disorganised.

Everytime we come home we go to the Bengal and it never fails to satisfy. The staff are soooooo nice and remember you from your last visit. Recommend booking at the weekend. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.

Nice and welcoming staff. The menu is traditional Indian and all of us (4 people) were very satisfied with the tasty food. Not too spicy but tasty. Regular prices and and a variety of choices in the whisky menu which we appreciated. Small things like a hot wet napkin after the dinner was estimated. The service was on a good level, always there when needed.

Once again delicious curry and attentive staff. Bengal concentrates on flavour rather than heat which suits me perfectly, just enough heat and plenty flavour.

We recently visited this restaurant for my birthday celebration and we came away beaming! The staff could not have been more friendly, helpfull and welcoming. The menu was modern and appetising with plenty of choice and when the meals arrived within a good time, we all shared the meals so had a taste of everything and it was all very yummy!The staff even gave us some cream to take away so that we could enjoy my sisters homemade birthday cake as we had forgotten to buy some! Nothing was too much trouble.

A wide and varied menu, perfectly prepared and served in a pleasant atmosphere. My only problem is that we always order more than we can eat, but that's because it's all so good.

I come here regularly, was here with family for my dads surprise 70th dinner. All the people here are very friendly and make you very welcome. The food is always fantastic.

Spent a pleasant evening for a staff evening out. We were very well looked after by the staff at the restaurant attentive but not intrusive . Food was good and all tasted very fresh personally I would have liked just a slightly larger portion ( but I am a big eater) . Prices reasonable and we appreciated the drink on the house at the end. The restaurant is a large open plan but good amount of space between tables toilets clean. The restaurant is upstairs and the entrance could do with a bit of a revamp but don't let that put you off once you are in it's worth it

Visited here with family whilst staying in Buckie.The decor of the place initially filled me with doubt about the quality of the restaurant. If I'm honest the restaurant could do with a bit of modernisation. This would enhance the experience as the food was delicious. The food across the board was cooked very well and the service from Raj was top notch. I would say that the tikka masala I ordered was one of the best I've ever ate! Only issue was the portion wasn't big enough. Which in all honesty is a good issue to have.If you are in the area I would recommend giving this place a try. The decor is a bit drab but the food certainly isn't. Great indian cuisine.

Was there as a group of 8 on the 13th. It started of poorly when we arrived as the table we had booked they had given to someone else and we had that awkward moment when they moved them as we stood there. We sat there for over 30 mins before 1 of us had to go and get a waiter to take our order. When the food came we could not fault it and we were starving by now as this was over an hour sitting. Even at the end we had to ask 3 times to get the bill and in total we were there nearly 2 1/2 hrs and even had one waiter telling us waiting that time was good???? As I said food was cracking but the service was a bit of a miss, if you are going to be that busy employ more people.

Went to the Bengal Brasserie Friday night - five of us celebrating Louises birthday. Excellent meals all round and service commendable - the draught Cobra perfectly chilled. Definitely will return.

We were looking for a quick meal before our evening appointment and popped in to this place because it was close at hand. We were very pleasantly surprised by how excellent the food was. Very flavorful curries with interesting and unusual combinations of flavours. Absolutely delicious. If we lived here we'd definitely return - again and again!

Repeat visit. Really good food again, reasonably priced and the staff were great - loads of advice about the different meals and attentive without being intrusive. Will definitely be back.
