Bengal Brasserie in Belfast

Tandoori is extra ordinary food. Their Bengal Tapas starter is so tasty. We really love their food. Extremely sorry that we have no food photos. **Service is good. All staff are very cordial and friendly.

We had a lovely evening at the Bengal Brasserie and enjoyed delicious food and fabulous service from all our waiters. Great selection meals as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone who fancies a curry in Belfast

Lovely meal tonight The service was excellent and my garlic chili chicken was lovely and spicy My husband was also very pleased with his lamb curry We were on a Groupon deal which made the price more reasonable

The chicken in the curry was extremely dry and the prices are actually outrageous compared to other close by Indian restaurants. The curry was 100% under seasoned. The worst part was that I didn't even have a chance to sit down yet and was bombarded to order a drink. I said I needed a moment, after about a minute I was asked to pick a drink. Please let the customers get comfortable first! Really disappointing.

Went on the recommendation of our host at Ravenhill House. Very good food and nice service. Plenty of selections, lots of starters and drinks, too. Be warned - the quantity of portions was huge! On main will serve two to four people! We came in early on a bank holiday, about 5 PM, and we were the only customers. By 6 PM, not a table available! Service is good - almost too attentive, especially when there are few customers. The butter chicken was on the sweet side but good. The chicken tikka biryiani was nice, although the chicken was a bit drive. Nice flavor, though.

Came highly recommended from the Airbnb we stayed at for several days off of Ravenhill Road. Probably the most exhaustive listing of Indian food I’ve ever seen! Creativity of their dishes was incredible! Portion size and taste was amazing. Service was second to none. A must visit if in the Dublin area.

My worst ever experience at a restaurant, if after a hard week at work you head out to restaurant to unwind and relax with a close friend I would avoid this place, because what you actually get is a very rude and obnoxious waiter, abruptly interrupted every 10 minutes to buy more drinks when your glasses are sill full and get served food that tastes like a frozen microwave meal. This may seem harsh but it's 100% accurate.

Me and my girlfriend got a take away, a chicken bhuna and a lamb palak. After 15 min we finished our meal, we both started to have heartburn and cramps and we had it till the following afternoon. We had no other food that day a part from a salad at lunch. Definitely not a recommendation, not sure what ingredients they used, but dodgy!

Visited a couple of weeks ago. Very stern waiting staff, with the exception of a much more friendly, younger guy. Had to ask about the £23 (!!!) 'offer' that I'd seen online (wasn't automatically made aware of it. Very poor form!! The 'offer' was a curry, naan and half pint of lager for that price. Steep, yet it's a so-called 'offer.' Had difficulties obtaining a pint of water from who was my designated waiter, but got off the other, more friendly one. Charge for poppadoms. First time ever seeing that...and I've been to many Indian restaurants. Curries are £17-95 and upwards with no accompanying naan or rice. Sorry, but that is *insane!!!* My local Indian in east Belfast is £10-95 and is nicer and with bigger portion. Bengal Brasserie's take-out prices are almost half the price of the sit-in costs; why?!! Masala chips decent, but not as nice as another south Belfast Indian. Deeply disappointing to read that others have experienced getting a free sambuca, or otherwise, upon departure of the restaurant. That would have sweetened things slightly for me. I paid just over £35 for my 'offer', poppadoms, a pint of Cobra (£5-95) and Masala chips. That is beyond ridiculous. Much cheaper (and better!) Indian restaurants in Belfast with B.Y.O. This place is decent, but the prices are crazy, crazy, crazy!!

On New Year's Eve, we went to this restaurant. The atmosphere is very appealing. The staff was extremely pleasant. From the starter to the dessert, the quality and taste of food were outstanding. The butter chicken and naan were absolutely delicious. Special thanks to the Chef!. Overall, my family and I were impressed, and I would recommend this location.

We were given a voucher as a Christmas and it was Our first time visit . It’s was very busy restaurant but has a lovely atmosphere. All staff that serve us during our visit were very attentive and lovely. The food was lovely specially the tandoori items . The food was tasted amazing and price was adequate. The location is great and place is very cozy. Would definitely be back.

When our food finally arrived, at least 1 hour after ordering, most of the mains were ok but nothing special and the butter chicken was awful, it appeared to be precooked chicken in a sickly sweet sauce, I've tasted better from a jar. Not good enough when they are charging an average of £18-£25 for a main. I expect the food to be better than I can cook at home! The service wasn't just slow, the servers weren't great either. Apart from one, they were not particularly welcoming or helpful. We asked if a meal we had never tried before was very spicey, the waiter just read what it said on the menu! Amazingly we had already done this and the word hot does not always mean the same thing in every restaurant.. This waiter did not seem to know much about how to serve the food or interact with customers either, I suspect he was just there to help out on a busy night. While I appreciate that they were busy, they were completely unapologetic for the slow service and watching bag after bag of takeaway food being carried past to the front counter does not help the mood of hungry neglected customers in the restaurant. We won't be back, there are several Indian restaurants nearby that serve better food at more reasonable prices.

Was in a party of 9 people booked for 7pm. When we arrived they looked like they’d never heard of the booking. Eventually got a table after 10 mins standing in the doorway blocking the place. The ninth person wasn’t given a seating at the table we had to ask for a chair. Twice. The order was taken around 7.30 and 3 people got starters however the main courses were not served until 8.40 pm. Nearly two hours after being in the restaurant. Half the party got their food while the other half had to wait for the rest to come up the table. The wrong Tikka meal was plonked down in front of me. The waiting staff looked blankly at any request for water or drinks. Nobody came near us to ask if we needed anything. People were coming in after us, getting served and leaving before we’d even got our main meals. Staff were unpleasant. They could learn a lot from Nu Delhi or any other Indian Restaurant for that matter.

Me and my boyfriend came here for last minute new year plan. We were greeted so quickly with drink and food menus as well as popadoms to start with immaculate sauces. We ordered and enjoyed the atmosphere in a busy restaurant. Every need was met and once the food arrived I couldn’t believe the quality of food as I have never had an Indian before. It will not be my last. A special mention to Zack for his hospitality which was second to none. A friendly face as well as amazing knowledge on the menu makes such a difference when your not sure of the food. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you bengal!!

Very poor food with no taste. Got a chicken curry and other vegetable dishes and not impressed. Would not recommend the food here as there are much better places in Belfast

Venimos a este restaurante con regularidad, pero en nuestra primera visita después del cierre quedamos muy impresionados con la inversión realizada para mantener a todos a salvo. Cada mesa es como su propia pequeña cabina ahora con divisores de pantalla de plástico, lo que aumenta la sensación de privacidad e intimidad. La misma comida, ambiente y servicio. Felicitaciones al equipo.

Dos amigos y yo fuimos el martes por la noche a las 6, el restaurante estaba muy limpio y agradable.Las comidas se cocinaron según nuestros gustos individuales y se entregaron de manera oportuna.El personal fue amable y servicial, y se tomó el tiempo para explicar los diversos platos y las diferencias de sabor, etc. Las precauciones de Covid estaban en su lugar, ¡pero no le quitaron una gran experiencia! Normalmente no tomaría a asesor de viaje, pero pensé que este restaurante merecía una mención dado sus esfuerzos para asegurar que todos tuviéramos una gran noche.

He sido un cliente habitual aquí durante años y siempre ha estado en el extremo más caro de lo que debería ser un indio, pero los aumentos de precio que han lanzado ahora están tan lejos de la marca que no volveré pronto. Casi todos los principales se han subido hasta el 18/19 desde quizás el 14/15. La comida está bien, pero el curry no es un plato de 19. Enfoque muy miope por parte de la dirección, este precio no es sostenible en el mercado local. Si quieren aumentar sus precios y luego ofrecer el descuento EOHO para que parezca un buen negocio, buena suerte para ellos. Hay muchas otras casas de curry en Ormeau Road.

My wife and I visited the other night and had a great experience! The staff gave us a very warm Belfast welcome (even with the masks/visors on). It was an eat out to help out night, and we’re delighted to be shown immediately to our table. The food was excellent with a menu that was varied and packed with innovation. It’s the best Indian I have ever had. Plenty of hand sanitizers and table partitions to fully comply with COVID-19 guidelines. We felt really safe and will be back again.

Would not recommend visiting bengal ormeau road anytime soon. Booked table on wed night during eat out to help out offer. Booking was for 8.45 we were made wait outside with many others, no information on why waiting or how long, no one took our names anything! One of the staff came every so often to ask who was next, I enquired how long was wait and told 4min, we eventually got in at 9.15. Our table hadn't been cleaned and there was no opportunity to social distance when standing in gang way. The table got a quick wipe, no attempt to wipe chairs. We didn't have starter and despite yhis the wait for our meal was just ridiculous, we got our food at 10.50pm, over 2 hrs after our booking. When the food did come for 2 of us it was luke warm, everyone was so hungry at this stage we didnt take chance of a further wait by asking it to be heated. The prices also seem to have gone up over £18 for main and rice I cannot express how poor the experience and service was, i cant imagine going back.

Based on previous good experiences over many years I decided to book a table for 12 people for my wife's birthday.On arrival we were shown to a table that would barely suffice for 8 people never mind 12 of us, to say we were cramped would be a massive understatement; luckily we had 3 smaller children with us otherwise we could not even all have been seated, nonetheless the space was less than adequate.My initial impression of the menu (of which we were only given 2 menus)was that prices had certainly increased dramatically since I was last here before lockdown.Our booking was for 6.45pm, we placed our food order around 7.00pm but did not receive our food until 8.10pm, despite flagging this issue several times to staff and management.When the food did arrive we could barely squeeze the plates on the table and even eating was difficult due to the lack of space. The food was of reasonable quality, some of the food was unfortunately not hot but we were so hungry by that stage that we just ate up, certainly the quality was not in keeping with previous good experiences.After finishing our meal a short while later we were notified by management that they needed our table for another booking, in normal circumstances this would have been ok but given that our meal was so late I found this totally unacceptable.No-one asked us if we wanted dessert or tea or coffee, it just seemed that it was a case of taking the money and pushing the customer out the door. None of our party enjoyed the evening and none will eat here again, the Bengal experience has certainly disappeared!I have never before felt the need to write a bad review but in this case I feel that standards have dropped so low that I am duty bound to flag these issues up to management and other potential customers. I hope things can get back to the way they were before.

Service and food excellent. Staff were attentive and friendly. Restaurant and toilets spotless. Slightly expensive however.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for a few years now. I haven’t went since the lockdown and me and a friend thought we’d treat ourselves with the help a restaurant scheme. The prices have just went through the roof since I was last there when we thought we were going to save a few pound eating out. 2 mains, 2 starters, 2 beers and a sprite for £80. It also took 40 minutes before we got the food. Our mains came out first, we said we hadn’t received our starter yet and the man said they accidentally gave it to someone else.. then a different man came out with our starters and said that he was told we asked for them to come out at the same time and that’s why they were late. The food actually tastes really good, it’s just a shame about the price.

Had a meal here yesterday evening. Booked before hand. Table was ready and spotless. They have added screens between tables - actually creates a nice atmosphere. Had a curry and my friend had tandoori chicken. Both were really good. Staff very friendly. Will be back!

Had a wonderful meal on Saturday last. Had the chicken sallie and madras. with pre meal starters. Service first class and a Credit to the owners. Will be back again when I come back to Belfast. Would highly recommend this Eatery.

Food and staff were very nice but food is way overpriced my husband and I had a shared starter a main course and one drink each and it was £75!!

We had a nice enough experience here with the service being okay. The food was good but really not worth the money we paid . £17.95 for main course with a side is far too much for the amount you get . Understand in the current climate that prices may be higher but this feels like you are being taken for a ride. Won’t be back until pricing is looked at .

Had a great meal here with my husband and a friend. Service was excellent and food was second to none. I had a Murg Makhani which I love! Staff are always friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone. So glad they are open for sit-in dining again.

Absolutely disgusted at the customer service I’ve received. I’ve been a longtime customer of Bengal both eating in and taking out. In recent years, not only has the food not been up to par for quite a long time but they’ve also increased their prices quite a bit (and it’s most definitely NOT worth the money). Last night whilst going to dinner in a friends house, we collected an order our friend had phoned in and paid for over the phone. We were not aware he had paid for it and upon collecting it I was asked to pay the £54.35 - which I did without question. It wasn’t until speaking with our friend the next day did we become aware he had already paid over the phone. Tonight (10th July) I went in and spoke to the same supervisor / manager that served me. He openly admitted it straightaway and took my card to do a refund. He barely said sorry and merely told me that “customers don’t normally pay over the phone for a collection” - to me this is NOT good enough. He barely looked me in the eye and really didn’t seem to care, I think this is shocking customer service generally but also considering he knows how good a customer I’ve been over the years. I’m absolutely enraged at how I was treated and most certainly will not be back. The food wasn’t even that nice and we only went there because our friend suggested it and it’s near us. For years I would have championed Bengal but now my advice to anyone looking for good food is avoid Bengal on the Ormeau Road, there are far superior places in town that have amazing food and good customer service and are far better value. I will ensure I tell all our friends who also love Indian food at how I was treated in Bengal. Spend your money elsewhere.

Been here over a year ago and i must say its moved up from a 4* to a 5* restaurant.The staff were excellent,nothing was to much for them,i normally like madras curries,but for only the 3rd time in years i decided to try something different,so i chose kufta(meat balls)this was one of the best meals in an indian restaurant i have tasted for a long time,and i have had some great meals over the years,i can't praise this food enough,so get there asap you will be in for a treat,you might want to book for the weekend to be sure you get a table,well done bengal brasserie(ormeau road).

Bought a weekend Groupon to use just to be told by the resturant i cant use it EVER !!! I paid £5 extra for the saturday option but they say they have no availability at all ??? i only bought it 2 weeks ago.. plus these same vouchers are still available for sale,, why advertise something that isnt available,,, Terrible service .

I always have a pleasant time here. The food is great and the staff are very friendly. One thing to note, which is SO appreciated, is the consistent cleanliness of the bathrooms! Many restaurants do not realise how important this is.

We arrived to a welcome like we were family. We were searved impeccably from our popadoms to our dessert (must have!!!)Our mains were delicious highly recommend the madras. When choosing dessert go for the indian donuts they will change your life Genuinely can not fault this resturant its beautiful from the decor in the seating area right into the toilets. You can tell everyone genuinely wants you to have a great time, relax and feel at home. We would like to thank all the staff for such a wonderful experience, best meal we've had!!We arrived as strangers and left as Friends Can't wait to come back

The perennial question. Which is the best ( or amongst the best), Indian in any given place. Having tried most in Belfast, the Bengal Brasserie makes you think that the experience there was superior to the others. Service, choice , quality , ambiance, price, wine all combine to make me of the opinion that there is nowhere better overall for an Indian meal.

Bengal Brasserie has been back on top for a very long time now. Even better this week with celebratory birthday pricing. Thank-you and Happy Birthday BB!... can we celebrate every week please?

Hands down the best Indian food I've ever eaten and I've eaten it everywhere. The amazing food is matched by the incredible service.

Hands down one of the best curry houses in Western Europe. By no means cheap but well worth shelling out a few extra Brexit Notes. One waiter is a deadringer for Prince (the musician). Gotta go back for the healing

Quite a frequent customer in Bengal Brasserie. Food is great, staff very friendly and flexible. Even when visiting a bit later that the usual dinner time, we were never denied a table( the manager would always try to find a table for us even if very busy )

Great food and especially great staff with a lively atmosphere. we visited with our son who has autism and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

I haven’t been for a while so it was great to see the refurbishment. The food was, as always, amazing - this is the one restaurant where I don’t hesitate to try something new because it’s certain to be great. The staff were charming as ever and nothing was too much trouble. My sister in law was particularly impressed with all the amenities available in the ladies bathroom. She couldn’t quite believe the array of hygiene products and toiletries - they really have thought of everything, even breath freshening chewing gum. I love the individual towels - a welcome change from noisy hand dryers. This really is the Indian restaurant with everything. Complimentary drinks are a lovely gesture.

Another one of the restraunts I would eat in at lunchtime if I was passing. Food and service are good but not having anywhere convenient to park lets it down

we have been there a few times now, and the food never disappoints, it helps to ask the staff how spicey some of the dishes are, personally I love any of the lamb dishes.

What a fabulous restaurant. I think it may be Belfast's finest Indian restaurant. I have long been visiting Belfast and have enjoyed the vibrant Indian restaurants in this lovely city but this was a new one for me. And boy was it worth waiting for.

I popped into this restaurant on a whim on my last night in Belfast, and the the chicken korma was outstanding! Quite delicious, and I loved the ambience.

Come aquí regularmente con amigos y toma comida para llevar a menudo. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente. La comida siempre es deliciosa y el servicio es excelente! Hemos comido en el ormeau road one y el lisburn road one, el ormeau road es definitivamente superior (lisburn rd también es bueno). Siempre ten una muy buena noche cuando comas aquí, gran ambiente.

Had a brilliant night out last night with 4 friends. Service fabulous and food first class. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. On asking for bill we were asked to choose any drinks from behind the bar compliments of manager. Lovely touch for Melvyn s Birthday.

The Bengal Brasserie is one of my favourite restaurants in Belfast! I live nearby and have eaten at the restaurant and ordered food many times before. The staff is super friendly and food is delicious! My friend visiting from Spain and myself dined there recently and he was very pleased with the food. It was his first time trying indian cuisine and I definitely made the right choice bringing him here - A few personal favourites: Lamb Tikka Starter, Tandoori Shashlik and veggie Biryani.

This place is one of my favourite Indian restaurant in Belfast. This restaurant has been renovated with stylish design. The ambiance is nice the food was top class , I ordered monkfish jalfarizi and lamb palok for my partner it was delicious. The front staff was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back again.

Two of us visited here for a midweek dinner - it was a quiet Monday night and we were using a local deal voucher. This place was excellent value for money and they also do really good special deals.

Arrived at this restraunt on Saturday night and wasent expecting to be entering a complete chaotic scene,was greeted by a man in a very bright shirt sweating profusely,first thought hope your not serving me,as we waited in the lounge standing up for nearly 20 minutes for a table we had booked already!as we finally got seated we had to eait a further 20 minutes just to order drinks,once we received our drinks the man in the bright shirt kept constantly distrupting our flow of conversation at the table to try and sell drinks to us when he could already see we had drinks,this is very frustrating and just shows the lack of communication between staff ad we felt harrased to spend money throwout the night,such a bad experience on what was supposed to be a night out with friends wich i havent seen a long time,i was embarrassed for choosing this place,i wont be back.And the prices are extortionate for the service and quality of food.

We are 4 friends was in bengal last Saturday night .we havnt book the table. Staff were very friendly and staff are very active they arrange us very nice table in rush time . Ameging atmosphere and waiter were all very helpful and experienced .food are very good .I will be back again soon .thanks bengal for lovely night

Great food and five star service. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The tapas was a generous portion with selection of starter. The lamb shatkora was just perfect peshwari Nan bread was delicious. Will definitely recommend.

Visited here few nights ago and just had to leave a review.I usually dont do this,but on this occasion ihad to.To start off i will say there is privacy as we were stuck in a table in corner of the restaurant with no access to leave for the bathroom etc unless we had to get up and let our freinds past,constantly getting bumped or barged by staff serving drinks and food and no APOLOGY.Food was mediocre at best,the gentleman in the bright flowery shirt wich i think i am being kind to by calling him that constantly was asking us for drinks and just bothering us,if he is the manager its a very bad example of customer service for his staff.He seemed to have a arrogance about him and made us feel quite uncomfortable with the way he was ordering some of the young waitresses about.What really shocked me was when i went to the bathroom i saw a young lady (staff) clearing used sauces wich we were served for poppadoms and putting them in with other used sauces and serving them to tables! As i saw her putting spoons back in to be ready to go on tables,this blatant lack of hygiene had me thinking what goes behind the scenes were we cant see! Safe to say me and my freinds will never be back to this establishment again,what a let down as i live about 20 minutes away,Shamefull!

Great food and a really special atmosphere, not cheap but great value, staff are very friendly and attentive

Me and three mates had the munchies so we ordered a take out from here. I was a bit tentative but when the food came it looked class and tasted amazing. The phall was spot on-could have been hotter. Keema nan nice and meaty and Rozalla was great too!!

Having decided to try something new this weekend, we booked a table for 2 on Saturday evening.

Excellent food, very friendly staff and lovely surroundings. There was nothing too much trouble for the staff. The food was delicious and fast to arrive. I cant wait to go back!!

Have been craving an Indian for ages and decided to try this place after it being recommended to me by a colleague in work.

Had a table booked for 6.45. Phoned to move to 7.00pm and was told that was not possible, in fact asked me to change to 6.30.

Im not the biggest fan of indian food but the other half is. We had heard other good reviews so thought we would give it a go..

I’ll keep this short and sweet as i’m not a fan of Indian food and struggle to know what to order when i go to Indian restaurants, but this place is magnificent.

Food was quite nice but very overpriced..staff are too attentive...felt as if they were constantly watching you too much

We had a fantastic dinner at Bengal brasserie. The dishes and flavours were authentic and very good. We enjoyed our food. It made a nice change from the pub grub we had had so far. Staff were very friendly and courteous and the owner offered us a complimentary drink. The interior had been redecorated and looked fresh and modern.

Have eaten there many times and have loved every meal!

Tonight I enjoyed a delicious take-away from Bengal Brasserie and after writing a poor evaluation a couple of years ago I am delighted to report that good food (in my opinion), has returned to this long-loved establishment. I have loved this restaurant since its' introduction to the Ormeau Road many, many years ago in what is now the location of the Bakery apartments.

My mom and I went here and ordered samosas, garlic naan, a lamb dish and chicken korma. I asked for it to be spicy and at first they said this could not be done but then a manager came over and asked the kitchen to make a special very spicy sauce which I could add in myself. It was all sooo delicious, the service was super professional, the bathrooms and the entire place was very clean, and the portions were a great size. They finished our meal with this tiny complimentary dessert cocktail made with Tia Maria that was very cute and tasty. I definitely recommend Bengal Brasserie if you are in the area.

Los gustos harán que quieras no terminan nunca La calidad y cantidad de la comida es excepcional. Si visita Belfast y no vengan aquí estás seriamente le falta uno, si no el mejor restaurante indio en Irlanda del Norte. He estado aquí en varias ocasiones durante los últimos años y nunca tuvimos el nivel cayó. Es un sitio de paso obligado si te gusta la comida india servida en un entorno estupendo y el personal fabuloso

Visited with another couple and were given a friendly and professional welcome. Lovely decor inside the restaurant and a warm ambiance. All food was beautifully cooked and was very tasty. The staff were truly exceptional and very courteous. Sure to visit again very soon.
