Me and my girlfriend regularly visit here for breakfast as it has a fantastic breakfast offering. It does get busy which means you sometimes have to wait, but trust me it is worth the wait. The service is brilliant and the food is absolutely delicious. If you haven’t already visited here you should at the earliest opportunity the best breakfast in Whalley

I’ve been a regular at Benedict’s for a few years now. The food is fresh and tasty and you mainly get decent service:). I’m sadly writing a review following two visits in ten days where I have been given teapots with nasty chipped/cracked/stained teapot spout tips. On my last visit on Sunday I was quite dismayed to see the barista (waitress?) with the high pony tail sniggering and eye rolling with colleagues behind the counter at my request for a fresh, un-chipped teapot. I was sat on the long bench opposite, in her eye line, and felt this was really very rude. No doubt people’s level of hygiene differ, however I don’t use chipped crockery at home and don’t expect to use it when at a decent cafe. More attention to detail, safety and hygiene required.

We called in en route to the coast and the place was packed. Luckily we found the last table for 2 and sat down. I ordered the steak sandwich and my husband the open tuna mayo and we shared a portion of chips. We didn't have long to wait and the food was very good-freshly prepared. Service was also good from the very friendly waiting staff.

My wife and I were looking forward to having lunch here after looking at good reviews. On arrival we found a table and were given the menu. We chose soup of the day (sweet potato) and a sandwich each, egg mayo and cheese and chutney. I have chose a cordial drink, my wife a latte. The food and drinks arrived. Drinks were fine, no problem. The soup was one of the smallest portions we have ever been served. On eating it it proved to be quite tasteless, very watery and had fibrous inedible pieces in it which neither of us could chew. The sandwiches were small without any garnish. On paying, the bill came to over £21. Very, very poor value for money. We had a lovely day in Whalley but Benedicts was a real let down.

After reading the positive reviews I visited Benedicts with my Sister. We were a bit confused on entering as we weren't sure whether you had to wait to be seated or just find your own spot. Staff were happy to walk past us, but no one offered assistance. We finally got someone's attention, and we were told we could sit any where. From then on we found the service haphazard. There appeared to be plenty of staff, but no system, so we had to keep asking for attention. Possibly, it was just one of those days, but it did spoil our outing a little. The menu choice was great, and the food was really tasty, and certainly value for money.

Called in yesterday for lunch with a girlfriend. Having only visited previously for coffee and being aware of very positive views of others, I looked forward to lunch. For my friend, her first choice of meat pie was unavailable when trying to order. Her next choice was soup with a preference request of white bread. For me, I chose a caeser salad and requested a slice of brown bread on the side. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner. When the food was served, my bread was missing, my friend was served brown bread and with no query from the waitress as to whether we required anything else, I waited a little while expecting her to return to complete my order. Eventually, I sought her out and requested the bread as ordered along with a set of condiments for the table. My salad was pleasant enough though I have to say contained very little chicken. My friend's soup was very good. We placed a further order for drinks which took an inordinate amount of time to arrive. On reflection, I have wondered if we were unlucky in the member of staff who served us.

I visited Benedicts last weekend on what was a rainy Saturday morning. Having arrived close to the end of their breakfast service I thought I was going to be disappointed, however this was not the case. I arrived with my friends to lots of smiles and 'good mornings' and got seated immediately. Our drink orders were quickly taken, I ordered a fruit smoothie. This was beautifully presented and good value for money, I loved the tough of the paper straw. I ordered the Skillet for breakfast, having not had one before and wanting to try something new. I also was told this was fairly new to their menu. I was not disappointed! It was the perfect size and beautifully presented, and I would definitely have it again. Having sat next to the cakes and treats for the duration of my dining experience I couldn't resist grabbing a few slices on the way out. I then enjoyed my slices of Victoria sponge and Banoffee Pie later that day with a mug of tea, a great taste of the shop at home. Great dining experience from beginning to end, with nothing being too much to ask.

We have usually enjoyed our visits to benedicts, but after this morning feel very disappointed and won't be rushing back. Had a long wait just to get our drinks (filter coffee so not complicated) and an even longer wait for our breakfast. The breakfast however was very nice and thankfully the free refills of coffee kept us going whilst we waited. However whilst i dont really mind cafes allowing dogs, i do mind waitresses making a fuss over them and allowing them to jump up on their uniform before then continuing to clear tables. I had many meals at Benedicts previously but this was below par. I had the standard breakfast which at £8.95 is better value than some of the other items on the menu. However it was not freshly cooked. It was late morning and clearly some of the items had been hanging around in the kitchen for a while. The bacon was leathery, the scrambled eggs were watery and the beans were congealed. It was just about ok but they need to do better. I wish I had gone to Tastebuds around the corner.

Walking in for breakfast on Sunday morning was always something I looked forward to at Benedicts. There are a couple of points that some will find picky but may help others I hope. Last weekend we arrived around 11 for a late breakfast. It was busy so we had to wait for a table..not a problem. Great to see the cafe doing well. I had a basic sausage and bacon balm and asked for the fat to be cut off the bacon. When it arrived it was cut off but the bacon had been overlooked and was like cardboard. Not so the sausage, they were only lightly browned on one side and totally undercooked on the other. As soon as I started slicing through them to make the sandwich less thick, Fat spurted out onto my clothes. I really don't like under cooked sausage which hardly look as though they have seen the pan/grill. It shouldn't really happen. My partners food was fine so overall we would only give it a 3 star rating. If you don't mind a noisy, busy atmosphere the time we visited was fine. The dangers when busy are staff nearly taking you out, risking spilling food over customers when exiting the kitchen and the closeness of some of the tables when there are disabled people with crutches. It is however, much quieter before 10 when you can normally choose your table and feel like you can have a more relaxing experience if that is your preference.Overall could do better so for once I decided not to leave a tip as no one came to ask if the food was OK at anytime.

I reviewed Benedict's a few months back as it wasn't a pleasant experience. I complained my poached eggs were rubbery and hard and not how they should be. Because of this and other failings I didn't leave a good review.I received a lengthy reply from the owner agreeing with me about the eggs not being right and how she had repeatedly told the kitchen to how important they are. I disagree it's difficult as claimed though, most places we visit in and around the Ribble Valley get it right. I also quote in their reply "They clearly remember you, the table you sat on and your complaint about the poached eggs, (which we replaced happily, a fact sadly you dont mention)". She addressed the other issues and finished with hoping we give them another chance. In response I would like to say that I was clearly mistaken for someone else. They didn't replace them as claimed, they just knocked a coffee off the bill which I didn't think at the time was acceptable but I wasn't going to make a fuss and thanked them. It would seem other people are complaining about it too if you have to keep telling the kitchen about the same food item somethings going wrong somewhere!Moving on... despite the the poor previous experience we did decide to give them another chance a few days ago. I ordered the same poached eggs on toast as I them, hoping they had addressed the issues. I'm disappointed to say that the eggs were still hard and rubbery. I hate complaining at the time as I get embarrassed at making a fuss so I prefer to voice my opinions on here. However, whilst it would appear i'm just having a go at them I would like to end it on a positive note because poached eggs isn't the end of the world. It is a lovely and cosy cafe with many other items on the menu. Last time there was other issues which don't need to be mentioned but there seems to have been a lot of staff changes and I would say from what we experienced they are a credit to your business.I'm not saying I won't return but I won't be ordering poached eggs ;)

This place was recommended to be by a couple of different sources and I was looking forward to something a bit special. It wasn't. I called in with my 86 year old mother for lunch and the café was very busy. The menu was a little trendy for my mother but she decided to be brave and experiment, so she ordered the Morrocan Lamb. I ordered the fish finger butty on brioche with chips. The portions were small but well presented. Mum was relieved that the lamb was very lean and not overly spiced. My fish was cooked well but very greasy I don't understand why they feel the need to serve food on top of greaseproof paper on a plate. As they say on Masterchef , "If you can't eat it, don't put it on the plate". The only purpose it seemed to serve was to highlight how much fat was coming off the food. Maybe we were unlucky, I'm not sure. But I do know that we will not be in a rush to return.

It's a shame to have to write this review as I live close by and have come for many years, but the standard of customer service just continues to be so poor. When I came with my sister for a drink there was no welcome from any of the staff, who seem to not care about you if you're younger customers. We showed ourselves to a free table as it was quiet & waited to be served. After several minutes of waiting & watching staff just walk by, not even looking in our direction, I came to the bar to ask for menus, but was just told to sit and wait for someone to come over. So I sat down again and waited for a staff member who over heard this to take some initiative and come over - none shown, so we just got up & left (shockingly no acknowledgement on the way out either). As I work at a restaurant as a waitress, I know that this level of customer service is unacceptable & after many visits with the same attitudes from staff I will not be returning.

We come here quite a lot, when they cook your order properly it's nice food but I can't remember a single time one of us hasn't had to send it back. They literally can't boil an egg. You order 'dippy eggs and soldiers' and the yolk is rock hard or the toast Is burnt. You order poached eggs and the yolk is either hard or the white part of the egg is complete mush. Girls usually forget little extras like when you ask for more sugar (1 slim sachet is never enough) or if you ask for another soft drink. But when your meal comes back from the kitchen it's usually lovely!

It is not a large place - but nobody seems to be in charge and nobody supervises what is happening ALL of the time. Today we ordered a cake and breakfast muffin, both of which arrived fairly quickly. As is so often the case, however, the coffee and smoothie we ordered to go with them were nowhere to be seen. We had very nearly finished our food by the time the drinks arrived - and this happens more often than not. We must suggest that there are several problems which need solving here: i) there seems to be no obvious co-ordination between the kitchen and the coffee bar - and normally the kitchen are faster and ii) there is sometimes no obvious urgency on the part of the girls who are making the drinks, as if the existence of a queue for drinks for several tables is an acceptable norm OR iii) the girls have inadequate facilities behind the bar to enable them to cope when the restaurant is even moderately busy. Surely it would be far better for us to wait longer and receive both drinks and food together - although perhaps the real answer is for the drinks to be prepared much faster than they are. We are not the only ones who commented that their drinks were taking too long today. Finally we want to apologise - we feel like we are being critical of an old friend in public - but we have grumbled to ourselves so very many times that we decided that we now have to do this. The problem is surely fairly easy to solve - and we love the place so much. This is the very first review we have ever done on tripadvisor.

As this was our first ever visit to Whalley, Benedicts came as a complete surprise - and what a fabulous place it is. The delicatessen has a wide range of good quality and interesting food, and the menu in the restaurant mirrors those qualities.Clearly very popular - and easy to understand why.

Came in today and tried the chorizo, cod and halloumi special which was absolutely fantastic! Full of flavour and really well presented, has a really unique modern twist on traditional dishes. Would expect that from a high class restaurant in the city centre, tremendous. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent selection of breakfast alternatives and if you can't see what you like they will do combinations. The cakes are delicious and a great selection of teas to choose from. Compact but expanded with a shop attached. Setting in a lovely village.

We walked in at 3pm on Sunday afternoon, plenty of tables free so we picked one but this still hadn't been wiped from the last customers, so we picked another which was also dirty but decided to sit anyway. I wouldn't mind if they'd had a busy spell but 3 of the staff were stood at the counter talking amongst themselves. When one of them peeled themselves away and came to us I thought act quickly as I might not see them for sometime. I promptly requested tea and a scone with jam and cream, to be told "we don't do scones on a Sunday" WHAT? surely scones are a go to cake in a shop that sells cakes? We said we would re-think our order. However we decided to get up and leave and to be honest I don't think the staff. will have realised. Not the Benedicts I visited a few months ago.A good end to the story, we walked 100 yards round the corner and found our scone, in fact the biggest decision we had to make was whether we had plain, mixed fruit, cherry or walnut scones!!!

Busy but rightfully so! We went for a late breakfast & the choices/variety took us a little longer, but so worth it. Hubby & son had Benedicts breakfast plate with excellent quality bacon, sausage, mushroom, eggs & artisan bread. I had the smashed avocado on sourdough bread, poached eggs with mango & chilli salsa. Absolutely delicious. My only annoyance was the Benedicts breakfast plates came with unlimited tea or coffee, great value except my son doesn't drink tea or coffee, I asked but staff, but refused to substitute the tea/coffee for a glass of fruit juice. So maybe not that great value after all? Other than that, very tasty ☺

Was so pleased to find a good variety of gluton free meals on the menu when arriving for lunch with my grandaughter who suffers from ceoliac disease. She was delighted to be given a menu of her own as so many restaurants only offer minimal choice. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful.....my grandaughter will be returning now she knows her needs are well catered for here....thank you.

So went to this place on Sunday with the family. After going pass it several times and thinking "oh, it looks good" it was time to try it.We arrived for lunch time and had brunch and were looking forward to the meals. The order was taken quickly, and served prontissimo, which is great! My espresso looked rather sad and isolated in a massive cup... I don't get why some café serve espresso in oversized cups. It goes cold super quickly, no crema, no aroma... Nevermind the coffee, lets enjoy the breakfast...If it looked good, I'd bet it would matches any breakfast from your local market place, or not.Disappointed by... the bacon... looked and tasted like it was cooked drenched in oil, the harsh brown, from the frozen bag and it tasted sloppy (oily in fact)the beans, overdone, the sauce was baked...the mushrooms, way too sloppy (clean them dry, not with water)the saussagesThe good thing is, the little one loved it all.Could someone check the table? No...Its annoyning to pay £30 for breakfasts that would not pass a McD quality test.Did we visit on a bad day? Was the normal chef on holiday? I did not expect such a poor full English breakfast. Shame though cause the place looks rather nice.

Called in for afternoon coffee and cake and we weren't disappointed! The cakes were delicious and my son's milkshake was huge. We didn't have a meal on this occasion but the food looked just as good and tempting as ever. It's a lovely setting and definitely worth a visit.

Went to Benedicts for a cheeky Friday lunch as it was recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed! The staff were friendly and our order was taken pretty promptly. The latte was delicious and had we not been ordering food, I would have sampled one of the fabulous looking cakes. Intending to have a healthy sandwich and salad, we took one look at the menu and ordered every single fried option available as a dirty treat! The chips with truffle oil and Parmesan shaving were rather teateless, short on Parmesan and tasted like they had come out of the freezer. At about £5.95, they were not good value. The deep fried cauliflower and courgette fritter came accompanied by a dipping sauce and were crispy and delicious. The calamari was small and hard. The chicken goujons were not available so we had the lovely little mini sausages. It was a tasty, if unhealthy lunch and we shall definitely be back! One minor criticism: whoever writes the signage needs to read up on how to use semicolons!

Went in for a drink with a friend and was immediately welcomed by sunny smiles from the staff and seated. Drinks were delicious and there were plenty of options along with a speedy service! Had a warm, buzzing atmosphere but wasn't too loud to discourage easy conversation or be unpleasant in any way. Did notice there was an area which would be perfect for customers needing a quieter space. Overall a really lovely place that I would certainly go again!

Been going here quite a bit in the last few months as it's near a work project. The place is definitely getting worse with service....basic stuff like forgetting to place your order with the kitchen - waiting 25 minutes for a coffee - and at the times I've been there recently, it hasn't been particularly busy. The food quality is good and staff are polite and friendly It's slightly overrpiced but I'd overlook that if the service was better - there's no need to be waiting so long for a sandwich and a cup of coffee and so I think I'll go there less, especially if it looks busy from the outside.

Benedicts being part of the 'Maureen Cookson' very well appointed shop the restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. Very busy and noisy background, particularly from the coffee machine which made it difficult to hold a quiet conversation, Staff helpful and friendly but food no better than average, in fact the bacon was so well done it could not be cut with a knife so resorted to picking it up and biting chunks off it! I did notice the person at the next table doing the same! The impression was that all the breakfast food, including fried eggs, had been cooked in advance and served up as required. Excellent coffee but served in cold cups resulting very soon in cold coffee! After reading mixed reviews I was open minded about what to expect but the experience was no better than average. What a pity as the place has terrific potential and just needs more attention to detail.

Popped in for brunch as heard great reports. it did not disappoint. very busy with a great atmosphere, staff were lovely, place was full so they sat us at the bar but found us a table within a few minutes. menu was lovely I was struggling to choose. brunch menu with every possible breakfast item you could hope for. we chose the breakfast plate with refillable tea and coffee. consisted of egg, bacon, sausage, hash brown, black pudding, beans and toast all for £8.95 and it was delicious. other items were barms with various fillings, alsorts of choices on toast, eggs benedict and even eggy bread. the choices were great.food arrived promptly, piping hot and polished off with coffee in a relaxed environment, what a way to while away your Sunday morning. looking forward to visiting again soon.

As locals we visit benedicts very regularly. Sunday brunch is a particular favourite but also nip in for a 'brew' with my daughter at random times during the week. I also feel comfortable enough to pop in by myself for a quick drink. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The deli is also very tempting. I am bemused by earlier reviews that state the toilets etc are unclean. Absolutely not the case.

Called in for lunch and it was quite busy, lots of babies and pushchairs, so it was a bit like a creche, including the noise levels !. However, menu looked Ok even if the tables were a little disorganised. Ordered Tuna salad, which in fact was very good. My wife had a smaller plate of Calamari and ordered some sweet potato fries. Along came the Calamari, and they forgot the fries, so she could not eat them together as by the time they came the other dish would have gone cold. Service was pleasant but very slow. Had a portion of ice cream for sweet, but served with no imagination or even a wafer. Worse part were the toilets, which frankly need a good clean as they were grubby. Wife said the ladies were the same....not a nice experience. Would probably not return

I visit this cafe whenever possible and can't remember a time where the experience was ever below excellent. During my partner and I's last visit, I ordered the scrambled egg and smoked salmon for breakfast - a meal which, after taking a bite of mine during our visit before that (despite not liking egg!), soon became my partner's new favourite breakfast choice too. Also, if I ever visit for lunch, I usually go for the seafood platter with prawns and smoked salmon which, just like the scrambled egg, is always delicious. The staff are always very warm and welcoming and are wonderfully polite, and the time between ordering and receiving the food is very short. I don't have a bad thing to say about the place! Well worth a visit whenever you're in Whalley.

We have been here a few times but our most recent visit left a lot to be desired. My personal order was for a simple poached eggs on toast which resulted in the eggs being over done. The eggs were rubbery and hard. If you can't get poached eggs right your in the wrong business in my opinion. Also at one point the staff were arguing behind the counter which was very unprofessional. Not the best experience.

Part of the complex to the caravan site but this is an excellent and nicely furnished cafe. Had a reasonable latte but a very good sausage bap. Loads of sausage on it ,which comes from the good butchers in Whalley. If that way would certainly visit again.
