Belle Vue Inn in Carmarthenshire

We were last at the Belle 8 years ago. We visited again yesterday whilst visiting friends. The food continues to be fabulous. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has had a makeover since we were last there, and it looks great. Thank you for another lovely evening.

Found this absolute gem by sheer chance on the last day of a recent trip to Wales. The food was beautifully prepared and served and tasted amazing. Service also excellent. I'm just sad that we can't go back there for more. Highly recommend this place if you're local or visiting .

I have never eaten at The Belle and I am sad that I haven't. Very warm welcome, chilled vibe, and great food. The pork t-bone I had was perfectly cooked (never easy) and the veg lightly done so full of flavour and great texture. The mackerel pate for starter could have been a little fuller in flavour (a bit more mustard and lemon would have done it) but it was very smooth and tasty nonetheless. The duck spring roll was a hit. Other mains on the night were roast cod, and chicken with creamed spinach, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. We all had french pear tart with ice cream for dessert. Nom nom. All very reasonably priced (£45 per person including wine and beer) for the quality. It was quiet for a Thursday night so I hope they get busier so their business thrives in the long term. This part of Wales needs more good quality restaurants serving something other than fish and chips, burgers etc.. Keep up the good work. I'll definitely be back next time I am in the area.

A family meal out which started with a very warm welcome, the warmth continued and friendliness was boundless. The venue is intimate and well maintained, but the star of the evening was the food.. Exceptional. A must visit restaurant!

Spending a weekend away with family we decided to top it off with Sunday lunch. Well the Bell certainly lived up. A fantastic pub tastefully decorated. A real warm welcome from the Bar lady,who was am absolute credit to the Bell.Great selection of ales. An excellent menu that catered for all our needs . We all had starters and everyone agreed the quality presentation and taste was fantastic. The Smoaked Haddock Tart was beautiful and Spring Rolls was so tasty. On to the main we were all blown away by the quality and taste of the main courses especially the Belly Pork and roast beef. The services was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The veg was cooked to perfection a great selection of potatoe dishes to choose. The desserts tempted us as there was a fantastic choice Once again the standard was amazing.having 2 chefs in our family party we have eaten plenty of Sunday lunches we all agreed that the food was on an amazing level and all believed this was the BEST Sunday lunch we have had. It was a show case of excellent quality executed with passion and love. We all can't wait for our next family get away to visit the Bell. Thank you

We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch, with four adults and two children. Service was excellent, and the food was all at a good standard.

Excellent in every way, excellent service, excellent food. When you go out for an evening and the toilets are that pristine, with separate terry towels you know you are in for a bit of a treat. The menu wasn’t too exotic, but was done with flare and care. Service was excellent, and I only regret that I only had a £10 in cash, as they cannot take gratuity by card/phone. Price was fair. If i could give one pointer though, it would be to have a more diverse wine menu, nothing too silly, but my father (his 75th) and I, would have preferred something a bit more rarified. Had great expectations for we had enjoyed two good meals a few years ago. My beef was so very tough if was almost inedible and the Yorkshire pudding had no taste but my wife's pork chop was good. I am always suspicious when a small venue displays a choice of six or more main courses for it means that none of these dishes are freshly cooked. The gravy was a disaster and the vegetables appeared to be over cooked. This may have been a ' one off day' but the kitchen on this showing must greatly improve.

First visit to Bell Vue, excellent service from the outset with emailing menu to arriving and serving. Food was excellent, serving staff were spot on. Food prices were very reasonable. Will defo come back. Diolch

We managed to get a booking here for our anniversary while staying in nearby Lampeter. The food exceeded our expectations and the staff and service was amazing. We found the menu reasonably priced for the quality of food. Would love to visit again if we're ever near again.

Had lunch here today and it was excellent. The menu was full of things that we like and we were spoilt for choice. The pan fried bream fillet with pea puree was delicious. Friendly service and a very welcoming atmosphere. We live about 40 minutes away so we will definitely return and we will recommend to our friends.

We've eaten at The Belle Vue twice in past few months and on both occasions it has been wonderful. Service has been excellent and the food delicious and fairly priced. If you want gastro pub style food, you won't be disappointed. We will be back soon!

We had a meal here after being recommended whilst staying for a few days locally and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We had great service from the lovely Millie and the food was of the highest standard - top quality and beautifully presented. We had home made hummus, bread & olives to start-delicious, seared tuna steak and a rump steak for mains finished by orange panna cotta (best I’ve tasted) with delicious home made shortbread and a summer pudding. Not the cheapest meal but standard was extremely good and you get what you pay for. Certainly worth a visit.

Starters were smoked salmon with Chinese radish and smokes mackerel with pickled radish. Mains were sea trout and panko chicken with gratin potatoes. Limited wine list of 8 to chose from. Friendly staff too.

Belle Vue Inn were able to accommodate us at short notice. We were out with friends who live local to Belle Vue Inn and actually recommended it. Lovely menu available and plenty of vegetarian options if you are vegetarian. Our party had Hummus & Soup to start, for mains Steak, Lamb, Chicken and Sweet Potato rosti. For deserts we had pear and chocolate tart and Creme Brûlée. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, so much that we didn’t take any photos!! Lovely and friendly staff too.

Finally managed to get a table here on Valentine's with my wife, usually booked up fast. The whole food experience was amazing, we both enjoyed all the courses. Amazing tasty food. Great staff as always, very helpful. Will be back soon for more great food .

We went to the Belle Vue for Valentines evening and were treated to a perfect meal. The fixed menu was tremendous and as we chose not to have some items we were catered for perfectly. The kitchen staff obviously know how to please people and the food quality was superb, absolutely delicious. The beer was spot on. But to us the best thing was the service we received, bar staff were very pleasant and our waitress was excellent. She was bright, quick and very confident in everything that she did.

If I were a secret shopper, this place would have no worries. Having lived in the area for 20 years this was our first visit, a treat for my wife's birthday. We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly, service was first class and the food was absolutely delicious. We will be visiting again. Oh and my wife is veggie and had plenty of choice.

A very nice suprise to find this little restaurant open at lunchtime. We have called on numerous occasions over the winter only to find a closed sign. Whilst we know that whatever food we order, it will always be of the highest quality and delicious, with service to match. However this time I felt a little guilty at paying £70 pounds for lunch! The prices of sweets £6.95 each, and drinks £9.15 for three small beers,certainly pushed up the prices. This was the only distraction from a lovely lunch. We will call again but not so often!!!

First visit but will definitely go back. Great food perfectly cooked. Staff were very friendly and efficient, attentive without being intrusive. Both my husband and I had the duck breast for main.... Cooked pink, melted in the mouth. The Gratin potatoes were amazingly buttery, creamy and had a lovely crispy top. I can certainly recommend them. Thank you all for a lovely first visit.

Lovely little place. Everything on the menu sounded lovely, the set menu looked really good value & all portion sizes were plentiful! I had the chicken wrapped in ham & hubby had pork belly with crackling to die for. Beautifully presented food & welcoming staff. Would defiantly recommend & return many thanks

We are visiting the area and on our last night thought we would check out the local bars and restaurants. We found this online 10 mins down the road from where we were staying. Great food, decent portions, great price. Hidden gem. If you are in the area I’d recommend you visit. We arrived at 630 and it started to get busy which is always a good sign.

We wanted to find somewhere to escape the busy tourist areas during the Easter holidays and this had been recommended to me on a number of occasions. It’s easy to overlook from the outside but inside it has a charm all of it’s own. It is cosy and tasteful but not overdone. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was really flavoursome, particularly as the fish I had is a tricky one to cook right. The sauce and sides it came with really complimented each other. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

Visited for our Anniversary dinner 12th April 2019. A snug, friendly and lovely place to eat and/or drink, excellent food, piping hot, great service, Very nice friendly staff. I had belly pork for the main and orange marmalade bread-and-butter pudding for afters. Absolutely fabulous ! Andy and his team do a wonderful and professional job. Will return, and will recommend. We were sadly the only customers this evening eating food. The bar was warm, the beer well kept, the red wine served at the right temperature. The waitress was friendly, polite and chatty. The owner,Sue cane out at the end of the meal, and chatted whilst we paid. We will definitely go again with friends.

Fantastic place. Very obliging to a party of seven, plus two little ones ! Very friendly waitresses. Great menu, especially for two of us that are vegetarians, four special choices which made a great change.

Friendly staff and great food. I had the liver dish, and my husband the steak. Good size portions and delicious food. A little on the pricey side, but got what we paid for. Definitely going back again, maybe for a Sunday lunch.?

The Belle is the best place to eat in the area. Me and the wife visited last night. The service is not quick but all food is cooked fresh and it gives time to relax enjoy a drink and socialise with your company. The menu gives you plenty but. not to much choice, the food is very tasty and all are well presented and with a nice twist. The helpings are large and we did not have room for the homemade deserts.

Had a great Welsh welcome and the food was really tasty. Several slices of beef and the gravy was delicious.

We ate here on the way to a hotel stay. We arrived at 6 (they open at 5.30) to find that no waitressing staff were available until 6.30, however we were seated and our order eventually taken. The restaurant became very full very quickly after that, which does show a good reputation for food, but the staff simply couldn't cope and the wait was long. Our meals were very tasty, portion size was good and we both really enjoyed our food, it was just the disorganisation that let this place down. It was a shame but I`d still recommend this place on a quieter night of the week.

Went here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. Food was absolutely amazing, everything was homemade, I had the steak, cooked to perfection and my partner had the pork, which was succulent and delicious. Cannot fault this place. The bar waitress was very attending and friendly, could not do anything more for us. Will definitely be coming back!

Tasty lasagne and good size portions . Staff friendly and nice atmosphere in the pub. Sunday lunch can get busy apparently so probably best to book.

We booked in for Sunday lunch whilst staying in a nearby holiday cottage. We were really well looked after and the lady was really good with our little boy. The food and service was excellent. Highly recommend this pub.

Were recommended the Sunday roast, so booked up [ a must ] and turned up to find it full of local regulars, always a good sign! The roast beef, slow cooked, was scrummy and very reasonably priced

Don't drive too fast or you will miss this little restaurant which serves up excellent food of good quality, perfect portions, and equally large smiles. Nothing seems too much trouble. and the choice of three menus at lunchtime should suit all palates. Our total bill for our "mix and match menu" was £46 including drinks and excellent coffee. Well worth yet another visit in the future.

Had a large family gathering of all ages and they accommodated all of our needs. The food was great as well was the service, a must if your in the area.

What you see is what you get , starting with a good welcome and excellent food and drink. The menu is comprehensive and seasonal, with all dishes served full of flavour and portion size being more than adequate. Theme nights are being introduced, also taster menus also being made available. Please ring and check with the owners for availability!! I think this idea is great for the non adventurous eaters who would be willing to try new foods but who would not normally order the complete dish. The total cost of £64 for a three course lunch/drinks and coffee was excellent value for a high quality lunch.

Menu limited, gammon was supposed to come with salad, but one lettuce leaf does not constitute a salad! Expensive, one course and 2 soft drinks £35... was a birthday treat for hubby but was disappointed this time, visited before and it was lovely! Somrather a shame this time...also felt food was dry and vegetables were covered in a sauce, would have been better to have served this separate so you could choose, as I can't have sauces !!! Have to say though waitress was lovely and attentive. Not brilliant for vegetarians neither.

Lovely Sunday lunch for four, opted to go straight to the main course and not indulge in starters. Three of us ordered from the Sunday menu and one of us from the specials board. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive and I did notice the couple who arrived after us had their meals before us - I think ordering from the specials board was the reason for the delay but at no point did anyone say there would be a wait, explain it or apologise for it. We were happily chatting away but it would have been nice to have had it acknowledged.Lovely food but the amount of veg provided for the four of us was a little on the short side. The couple next to us had exactly the same amount as we had for four??The desserts are not of the same quality as the rest of the menu.Its a great restaurant, staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is very good - don't be put off by my couple of 'grumps' they are very minor compared to the overall experience.

First-class food and service with a good choice of wines, very reasonably priced. The slices of Swansea smoked salmon served with little pearls of pomegranate I had as a first course was exqusite. (Though a side-plate was set, there was no bread or roll: a little brown bread and butter on the side would elevate it even higher!) For main course we had chicken breast served with an unctiously smooth and intense saffron and mushroom sauce, and duck with balsamic jus, red cabbage lurking beneath the breast - complete with lovely skin - and rosti: all utterly scrumptious. One could not fault cooking of this standard: really excellent. There is a reasonable menu - not over-large - which bespeaks of fresh produce, locally sourced: a very good sign, and one to be encouraged. Beefsteaks feature on the menu - I shall certainly try one next time. We shall be going again: reservations have already been made. Beat that! Waiting staff, by the way, could not have been more helpful - even venturing into the territory of cafe affogato (a particular favourite of mine!). Good parking and very easy to find.Ardderchog!

My wife and I visited with Clybiau Rotari Llanbedr Pont Steffan ac Aberaeron / Lampeter and Aberaeron Rotary Clubs for a Christmas Dinner. We'd booked the restaurant for the evening and enjoyed a three course dinner followed by an entertaining Christmas themed quiz and a raffle to raise funds for local charities. We were warmly welcomed and served by a small team of friendly and efficient staff. I enjoyed a delicious starter of roast butternut squash, red onion and spiced apple soup with their homemade baked bread - my wife also enjoyed the same starter with homemade baked gluten free bread. We both enjoyed as our main courses of traditional local roast turkey served with herb seasoning, bacon and chipolata sausage accompanied by roast and champ mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables (my wife's main course was again gluten free). Our scrumptious desserts were orange and Grand Marnier panna cotta with gluten free shortbread biscuit for my wife and I enjoyed their chocolate, rum and raisin cheesecake. We ended our faultless dinner with tea, coffee and mince pies, once again gluten free for my wife. My pint of locally brewed ale went well with my meal and my wife enjoyed her gin and tonic! The standard of the dinner and service were excellent in comfortable and relaxed surroundings. Diolch yn fawr / thank you all at The Belle for catering for us all and for such an enjoyable evening.

Visited with my husband and a large group of friends just before Christmas. Both food and service were superb - excellent catering for a Coeliac and generous portions. Marvellous selection of gins - will have to return in order to work my way through them all! Highly recommended.

We were hungry and had been out all day without food. So when I saw this place, I pulled into the car park immediately. From the car park we could see the chef in the kitchen, so that cheered us up. On entering the pub we noticed that two tables only were occupied. We sat on the only table set for two people, which happened to be next to the "specials board". I ordered a pint of Felinfoel Double Dragon and my wife ordered a glass of chardonnay. The "specials" included duck leg with sweet potato chips, hog, and sea bass (my wife's favourite fish) with new potatoes and vegetables. I decided to take the duck leg and my wife was keen to take the sea bass for our main courses even though the waitress had not brought yet the main menu.For starter dishes we ordered a crayfish salad and a duck spring roll salad, which we shared.We then ordered creme brûlée with raspberry sorbet and a double expresso coffee to finish.The food was outstandingly good and we were sorry to finish it.The total bill came to £65.90. We were very pleased with the experience, and to top it the five locals, who were sitting in the restaurant made us very welcome indeed. They made us feel like old friends.

I am a coeliac with added challenges of lactose and citric acid intolerance.I phone up a couple of days before and on arrival I was handed a menu with my name on it and what I could not eat as a note on the bottom.I had a choice of four starters, four main courses and three deserts. Had lunch one Thursday lunchtime when we came across this place by accident.The service was excellent as was the food.The place was clean and inviting and well decorated.Prices were consistent with the quality offered but we're not unreasonable.The restaurant was very quiet at lunchtime like many Country pubs.I would recommend that if you are in this part of the world,perhaps on holiday, a day out which included a meal at the Belle would be an enjoyable experience .

We joined friends for a Saturday evening meal, glad we had booked as it was busy. the menu has changed and is augmented by many special dishes, the only issue what ot have. I had the pear & parma ham, starter; tasty and light followed by Sea bass; sublime, then a naught brown sugar meringue with cream and strawberries. It was wonderful. If you have never visited give this place a try you will not be disappointed. Cant wait to return

We visited this pub twice whilst on holiday in the area, onceat lunch time just for a small lunch, we enjoyed that so much we wanted to return in the evening. At lunch time we met and chatted to the owners and booked our return visit. In the eening we had an amazing meal which was cooked to perfection and enjoyed by all our family. It was also extremely good value for money.

we went to the Belle for my mums birthday and as always the food was amazing, we have been about 5/6 times previously and the food is always excellent, and we will definitely be returning again. the service in this restaurant matches the food and is excellent nothing is to much trouble.

Having passed this lots of times and wanting to visit, finally made it last night and was not disappointed- good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff - well worth return visits.

We travel extensively and the Belle comes up as one the best in terms of quality food and value for money. Fine dining for bar meal prices! The menu offers a wide range of dishes and all meals freshly prepared to order. A warm welcome together with a great gourmet experience awaits you at the Belle - never fails to please!

My partner booked us a table for 3 adults and 2 children. The roast beef was beautiful and tender and the veg was ample and cooked perfectly. My partner had the pork and it was juicy and succulent. My 5 year old daughter loved her Sausage and mash with gravy. We managed to cram in desserts as well.... The Chocolate orange cheesecake with cream ... Oh my days ... I could eat it everyday. Creme Brulee ... Beautiful and creamy. This was our first visit to the Belle Vue and we will be back. Lovely setting, attentive staff, fantastic chefs and top class food.

Where do I start? Not often do I take the time to write a good review but this little pub/restaurant really does set the standard. One of the most warm and welcoming places I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. I had the roast duck, which was simply mouth watering, tender and succulent. The roast potatoes where crispy on the outside but soft and 'fluffy' inside. I shall certainly be re-visiting The Belle Vue Inn again very soon. Well done team!

Thought I try the Sunday Lunch and it was disappointing. The Pork was dry and tough. The vegetables were great. Nobody asked if everything was OK? I could have said! No! On paying was not asked again or hope you enjoyed your lunch,or was everything ok. A half pint of squash was charged at £1This is the most ever charged. Normally 50-80p per pint not half. Can only walk with feet and will not be taking Sunday Lunch there again. Not Recommended, plenty of other places in that price range. £9.20.

Chanced upon this wonderful little restaurant on a Saturday evening, we were accommodated despite not having made a reservation and ate fabulous food from a wide and varied menu. Made pasta for our son at his request. Waitresses friendly, bit of banter with the locals. A great experience. Wish it was closer to home.

Heard good things about the place, reasonably quiet evening, Food was okay I was disappointed with my choice a welsh lamb burger with humus it was very dry and disappointing the rest of my group had the lasagne which was good. I can recommend the mushroom and potato soup very nice. Parking at rear okay.

We have been to The Belle several times over the last few months for Sunday lunch. Each and every visit has been a treat. The roasts are quality meats and cooked to perfection; mention must be made of the delicious accompanying gravy. The specials board gives a wide choice; we both had venison steak on a recent visit and it could not have been better. Generous portions, plenty of vegetables (4 or 5 different), a good range of starters and sweets, well kept draught Guinness, all well presented and always served with a smile, no rush and no hassle. Overall very good value and a great way to spend a Sunday lunchtime.

Make sure you arrive hungry. The excellent food the wonderful staff and the delicious extremely generous meals insure you will be totally satisfied when you leave. Highly reccomended

We had a good dinner from a varied menu and the service was excellent. The only reason we score them 4 stars rather than 5 is that although they insist they are a true pub, all but one table were set out for food service and we feel you could feel awkward if you just wanted a drink.

We were a table of 4 celebrating my father's Birthday - we all had a 3 course meal, the menu catered for all our pallets and the food was delicious, varying from duck to lamb and steak. I had the duck spring roll for starters and it was the best spring roll I have ever tasted! And the raspberry panna cotta was to die for!The restaurant was full, but this did not impair on the service at all. I would highly recommend this restaurant - there are 2 menus and a specials board, so enough to keep everyone happy! Every time I have visited this restaurant I have not been disappointed and have always had great food - We will certainly be back soon. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Pre arranged group visit on a set menu, the quality of the food was superb, the staff were friendly and service was excellent. My wife has complex food issues, one telephone call to check what they can do and all was sorted.I would have no hesitation in visiting this place again, I don't often do repeat visits, but I will definitely visit this place again highly recommended.

we went for Sunday lunch, the service was of the highest standard. very friendly and welcoming the food was very well presented and tasty. the puddings were very nice but I thought a bit pricey but over all I could not fault

The family had a celebratory meal for both my wife and our grandson. The range of meals on the menu suited all of our pallets and catered well for the children. The staff could not be more helpful and the food is excellent. A super venue fo a large family gathering or an intimate dinner for two - we loved it!

What a surprise to find a restaurant in west Wales that has a separate vegetarian menu! Chef prepared meals at a reasonable price. Have to say that the choices were mostly served in a very creamy sauce but even so, the food was of a high quality and a great portion size. Given time, I know the owners would be flexible with the menu. Highly recommended place to go for a fine meal without the pomp!

The food was absolutely delicious! It was served very quickly, and I couldn't fault the quality or value for money. I had the lasagne, which was easily the tastiest lasagne I've had in a very long time. The staff were so friendly, chatty and welcoming, which created a lovely atmosphere. A firm family favourite that I would highly recommend to anyone.

Our works outing and an xmas lunch, absolutely delicious. Delightful surroundings, ample parking, very good value and a great choice of freshly cooked dishes. Yum. Nothing was too much trouble & all special needs catered for. We will definitely return!

Once again this little restaurant has come up trumps,serving good food chosen from a comprehensive menu and delivered with a caring smile. All dishes from the pork belly with lovely crackling to the sea bass served on a potato rosti and a selection of veg. oused taste! The chocolate pannacotta was so rich, I requested a serving of xmas pudding ice cream which gave the dish that edge, due to it's intensity. The total bill including drinks and coffee was £46. Well worth a visit.

Having only 4 hours once a month to go out together in the evening, my husband and I need to be sure we don't waste the opportunity for a really enjoyable and relaxing night out. The Belle is perfect. Excellent fresh locally sourced meat and vegetables in a varied menu, pleasant relaxed atmosphere with pleasant staff. If you don't want pub food, plastic table cloths and noisy surroundings this is your place. It wasn't our first visit and it won't be our last.

the resturant serves a different menu at lunch to the night time if any one has been to the harbour master in aberaeron this is a very similar set up the food is serve in small pots and pails nicely presented i had soup (which was quite bland) and the burger very nicely presented but a bit tough one of our party had the duck and said it was very nicethe lunchtime sweet menu was not very interesting so we passed on this the staff were very nice food was hot and served quickly we will try this place again before we give a final opinion

A beautiful Sunday lunch with extremely fresh, local produce. The orange pannecota is the best I've tasted. And It's so close to where we stayed, Cwmiar Farm Holiday Cottages. We'll be back the next time we stay at Cwmiar.

Excellent food again. Crispy duck spring roll followed by a very tasty steak with steamed veg and potato gratin, -washed down with a hearty Rioja. I couldn't fault anything. See you again shortly.

While on holiday, after a disappointing visit to the Tallard arms we thought we would try here. Unassuming from the outside but pleasant once inside. After a hard choice from the menu and specials board from some tasty sounding dishes we decided on the rack of lamb, gourmet lamb burger and our six year old daughter had cheesy pasta. We followed with the lemon cheesecake, creme brulee and chocolate ice cream and finished with liqueur coffees. We were that impressed that we booked up for another meal for our last night while we were there. Highly recommended.
