i waited half an hour for my food and when it arrived it was cold and didn't look cooked my egg was cold and looked like it had been microwaved wouldn't eat here again

This is not a child friendly cafe. Quite the opposite actually. Myself and a couple of mum friends went there for a coffee play date with our little ones and we felt like intruders. It was an early afternoon on a weekday which you would think it’s a prime time for mums and seeing cute little high chairs inside, we thought it was baby friendly. What a mistake that was. Every time one of our babies would cry a little or laugh too loud - we would get an angry look from an owner. When our babies finished their lunch, she came and put them away in a very aggressive way. A couple of days after we’ve left - the owner have posted a photo on a window saying that mothers should keep their babies next to their tables at all times. I think it’s horrible, making new mums under pressure. I wouldn’t come back and advise anyone with a baby to stay away from this place. P. S. Our babies are under 12 months - they don’t know how to walk and don’t wear any shoes - just socks. So please stop lying. Also, we made sure to put high chairs away where we took them from - another lie from you. We weren’t obstructing an entrance, actually we’ve moved to the side to make sure other customers can move freely. Yes, I did take an empty paper cup and offered to pay for it but you told me not to worry. Overall I think you really don’t like babies which is fine (not everyone has to) but maybe best to stop pretending it’s a child friendly cafe as it’s not.

I’ve been going here for years, with my kids, friends, on my own & for ‘business’ meetings as groups. Always great service & delicious food & drinks. Only place I know of in Coulsdon to do a great Chai Latte and also jacket potatoes 😀

A little hidden gem in Coulsdon. I've visited this cafe many times now and I'm never disappointed. Food is amazing, iced Mochas are to die for and the staff are friendly and cannot do enough. I've also used this cafe to hold meetings. This is a friendly welcoming cafe and an asset to Coulsdon and the community.

Food was of good quality, just a shame it was luck warm. Service was very good and prompt. The Caffè was even colder than the food kept jacket on through out breakfast.

Lovely place to chill with coffee and a pastry. Coffee is decent and the staff are super nice and efficient. You normally get a nice seat by a big window to watch nothing happening in Coulsdon!!

A lovely independent cafe with good coffee and food, and free WiFi. I just spent nearly 5 hours hanging out here while my car was being serviced/MoT'd across the road. This is something I have done on two previous occasions over the last 3 years. Each time I have enjoyed the food, drink, service and atmosphere here. On this occasion I had two perfectly poached eggs and two very tasty sausages on toast with good, strong, tasty coffee for my breakfast. I was able to hang out, having the occasional drink, working on my laptop with their fast, and free, wi-fi. I saw plenty of places to plug in and recharge if needed too. I ended up having lunch here as well, soup of the day, which was spicy lentil, absolutely delicious, and perfect for a cold, wet, winter's day. The fact that this lovely independent cafe is here, will be a key factor in choosing the next place I go for work on the car, and although I don't live especially close I will definitely pop in if in the area.

This IS a complaint, however the Cafe deservess 5 stars for previous visits in the past. It's not unusual for a cafe to ask customers to refrain from using other brands in their premises, however there are some scenarios where exceptions can be made. Today being Wednesday 24th August at 10:30am I met my colleague for catch up and to have breakfast. I've been before for meetings and always suggest Bella Art Caffè because of the lovely breakfast and chilled atmosphere. While looking at the menu I was told by a member of staff that I couldn't cosume my costa coffee, and would have to either throw it away or finish it outside. I assured her that i fully understood her request, however we were in the process of ordering breakfast with them and asked if she could make an exception or at least allow me to pour it into a mug as it was half full. She refused and made it clear that if I wasn't happy I could leave - which we did and spent our money else where, despite my colleague had already bought tea which she left behind. I'm sure as we walked out the door, the member of staff thought she had won a battle, which hopefully has brightened up her day. The same member of staff was lone working a while back and was rushed of her feet with orders. I remember waiting a while for my breakfast and didn't complain as I could see she was under pressure - the breakfast that day wasn't great but I made an exception given the situation!! Ordered jacket potato with tuna mayo for lunch... Unfortunately the tuna mayo was mostly mayo with a tiny amount of tuna so just tasted like fishy slime on top of the jacket. When I complained to the owner and told her it was terrible and nasty to eat she simply smiled and said thankyou. Would've liked an apology, Hence this review

Nice art based coffee shop, a few tables outsides which can be nice in the sun. Also have decent croissants and food.

Food was cold. This was Saturday morning 28/05/22 you were not busy ,a member of staff was lounging on the settee on his mobile .The Breakfast was served on a griddle which you would expect to be Hot, but it was not, the beans were served in a jar. After having a few mouthful of my toast and sausage I opened the jar and the beans were cold I don't believe they were ever Hot. The only thing that was warm was the hash brown. The reason we did not bring this to your attention was we didn't have time for you to re cook our food, and to be honest if you cant cook a breakfast right the first why would the next one be any better or hotter, Having to stop half way through eating and having to wait for the breakfast to come back kills the enjoyment of the meal. We had Breakfast at Valley Café today and it was Great . I hope this answered your questions ,and may I suggest if you have a review like this you should first apologize and suggest maybe a replacement meal or refund at my convenience ,I have just looked at a few of your other reviews and I see I'm not the only persons having a cold breakfast .My other suggestion is use plates and put the beans on it.

Stopped here for a quick coffee. Coffee is excellent. Good choice of homemade cakes etc. Staff very polite and friendly.

Great place , stopped there while waiting for the car to be serviced and really enjoyed my gluten free coconut biscuits. The place is beautifully quirky and invites you to look around for more hidden surprises. The service was very courteous and swift too. Great place.

We are regulars here. Simple but delicious food and coffee. Relaxed seating. Good ambience.

Nice enough. Food was fine, coffee was OK, but not that strong. Friendky staff who served us quickly. Some sofas inside, but other seating at metal tables, which felt a bit cold this time of year. Cakes looked nice but didn't try them!

Absolutely wonderful place to enjoy your coffee or lunch which can be custom made to your own preferences. Everything is perfectly presented and above all, very tasty. Staff is very attentive friendly.

We had a couple of cooked breakfasts, everything was burnt including the egg! The chips tasted like they'd been fried a few times. The waitress asked if everything was ok, we said no it's burnt and she walked off. There are definitely much nicer cafes in Coulsdon.

A pretty little gem in a town that's becoming more and more gentrified... I had a Chai Latte and Carrot Cake and I have to say the presentation was beautiful and the taste of both was spot on 😊 You could clearly see that care was taken when preparing and that's not what you generally find with the mainstream coffee chains! And yes, they still accept cash - perfect!

I come here every week whilst my puppy has hydrotherapy next door, such a lovely cafe. Have had the full english, Buddha bowls (if I’m remembering the name correctly) and also the jacket potatoes. They also have paninis. Doggy friendly as well and the ladies that work here are always cheerful. The food is made fresh and is so good! There is something for everyone. The photo is my of my fav drink they do - chai latte!

Café culture comes to Coulsdon! Go in the morning and sit outside in the sunshine. Only thing wrong is having to choose between the Danish and the teacake.

As a disabled customer, my only previous annoyance was that I couldn’t get upstairs to the art gallery (not a massive deal - stairs are stairs!). But I can’t access premises easily or safely. If I hadn’t been with my husband, not only would I have not been able to open the main door but I wouldn’t have been able to get up the step in. When someone eventually saw us struggling to enter they asked if they could help (very politely). When I asked for a ramp she looked puzzled and I informed the staff member that not having a ramp for disabled persons access to a premises is a form of discrimination through ableism. The reply I got was a blank stare & “Oh”. The artwork is great & all by local artist, fantastic! But right near a section equipped for children, is a work of art with large red writing and profanities. In my eyes it isn’t suitable for a caffe advertised as child-friendly! I didn’t have many options on seating positions (again, not entirely their fault due to the multiple Covid policies). But the places is just not geared up at the moment for basic wheelchair users, despite it being one flat level once you are able to get in! It was so hot that all the windows were steamed floor to ceiling, there was loud machine noises creating the sound you get from having car windows open a fraction. Then as it started to pour with rain, the front door was left wide open & the whole place became freezing cold and I had to then keep my coat on. Baring in mind there are now multiple Covid policies in place, I witnessed a child’s high chair contents be brushed by a gloved hand onto the floor. It was stacked back on top of all the other high chairs without being cleaned with even a damp cloth. There was no hand sanitiser (thankfully I had my own). Our coffee table was wiped clean, after the previous occupants left but the laminated menus, napkin holder etc we saw them holding/touching were not wiped down, neither were the chairs & armrests they used. We were told to scan the QR code at the counter using the NHS App on our phones which was great, but then the cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch. The same gloves were worn to wipe my table, get our drinks, our food, “clean” the high chair, tough surfaces and serve others. THIS DEFEATS THE OBJECT OF WEARING DISPOSABLE GLOVES & basic hygiene standards. The three ladies working all seemed very flustered at around 11:20am when we entered & after our experience I just wanted to leave. Obviously we had the same hassle getting out of the building as we did getting in, my husband has to dismantle a section of my wheelchair and literally lift me down the step with the aid of my electric chair. I just felt like our presence was a huge inconvenience & as one of the only “child and dog friendly” caffes locally, I now don’t know if I’ll be able to go back even with the Assitance of my husband. They literally has NO interest for the fact that the entrance to their premises breaks the law. I felt so disheartened and deflated after this visit, that I sat in my car and cried & have no experienced issues with body pain wise due to not being able to access the building properly!

Amazing cafe with great food and a buzzing ambience. It is a pet friendly and child welcoming place. Music is fantastic, atmosphere is nice and warm and owners are very friendly and hospitable! I had a cup of flat white which must be the best in Coulsdon Thinking of making this my regular Saturday morning spot Lovely place x

Stopped off for a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows  while my husband had a coffee before setting off to London 😊 It's an excellent alternative to the chain coffee houses, atmosphere is very pleasant and staff are doing great 👌👌 Don't forget to pick up your loyalty card and save them stamps for a free coffee 👍 We will see you again soon 😊😊😊

I have been here many times and always had lovely food and great service. We had 2 breakfasts, both sausage, bacon and beans were cold. The sausage was REALLY cold. Took it back and they were not apologetic at all. Got it back and it was certainly warmer but not hot and the beans were still cold. If I hadn't been with my Mum I would have made more of a fuss! We will not be returning. Their track and trace system is an A4 pad where customers write their name and phone number, they had made a slight stab at GDPR guidelines by covering half the names with a piece of cardboard. I believe that it is actually illegal to allow peoples details to be clearly displayed like this.

Dropped in for breakfast whilst bike being serviced at Dobles.Excellent breakfast served in a large metal skillet ,lovely latte x2 and fresh orange juice perfect,will be coming back.

A good local coffee shop. Great coffee and a friendly service. You have to pay a little bit more than the bigger named companies but we're happy to do so if it means supporting a local business. They also offer a loyalty card stamp. We will definitely be back!

I have visited today I asked pot of breakfast tea and latte I could not able to drink tea.it was so watery even waitress gave me second tea bag I left how it is. They need to get good quality of tea bag.Cafe smells of bacon and smokyI would not recommend it

Amazing food and the smoothies and milkshakes come in the most amazing and creative lightbulbs (not real) I love it there and have been many many times and am coming again very soon (jan 2 2020)

Great place in Coulsdon for a coffee or smoothie with friends, family or even for a business meeting. The place got a retro design, service it excellent. Coffees are tasty especially the matcha latte. They've got home made soups from time to time like broccoli or pea soup. Bella art Caffè are also home for modenr arts. Paintings and artworks are hanging all over the walls which could be even purchased. Only negative thing is the opening hours. The place is open only until 5pm on the weekdays... Otherwise great place with great coffees, juices and some sweet treats.

My wife and I like to explore the local coffee shops in coulsdon and felt very underwhelmed and wouldn't go back here, the full English breakfast was very expensive at £10.50! It was not good quality! (very greasy.) I felt that I could have cooked a better breakfast at home.It also didn't feel very hyginic inside the cafe was full of smoke from all the cooking fat. I like the idea of the coffee shop but unfortunatly i would question the hygiene and quality of the food at the prices they charge.

Could be better. When i asked if the cakes were homemade I received an emphatic "yes". However, they buy them at costco. The fish tank is grim.

Popped in for a coffee and some breakfast. Was greeted so welcoming by the staff especially a girl by the name is Suzy. Had great conversation and the coffee and breakfast was delicious! Such lovely staff.Will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend to anyone in the area.Thanks !

Only giving 1 star as there was no option for 0 stars. Couches were threadbare and falling apart and toilets were grim and without a lock. Someone walked in on my wife which meant for the rest of our time here (we were a group of 8) someone had to stand guard in front of the door. We ordered drinks which were average (milkshakes served in a filthy fake lightbulb) and overpriced, food was also average including a halloumi salad that hard a short black hair in it. When we took the salad back they apologised and we sat back down. After ten minutes they had failed to return with a new salad and when we confronted them about they blamed us for the hair and preceded to argue that it wasn’t their fault and they have no responsibility for the food once it reaches the table. We asked for a refund and after a few muttered words and deep breaths, we were given the money back for the salad. Dissatisfied and disappointed with the place as a whole and the attitude of the staff. We would never go back and I will advise the same to my friends.

Popped in yesterday. BLT was one of the best I’ve had for ages. Girls serving were lovely. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very child friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

So much light and space, excellent food - cakes are really quite special and coffee is fab . Firm favorite to while away a few hours with friends and our prams!

Just stopped there for a lunch last Sunday.My burger was so delicious and my friend had a chicken salad which was amazing. Coffee taste like heaven, definitely recommended for coffee lovers.Great value for money, portions are big so we didn't have a space for dessert :(Staff very friendly and the place is designed with a very good taste.Will be back for sure

Excellent space with lots of light and sofas - a firm favorite for me and my friends with very small children for a delicious healthy lunch and gorgeous coffee ....often followed by a not so healthy but very very good cakes. The owner is always happy to see us and offers excellent service.

Popped in a few times now since opening for a coffee/snack. The decor of the Cafe is great, a good overall space and the drinkls and food are pretty decent also. My kids love the Hot Chocolate.Food and Service/Staff are good as is value, I will continue to use but I'd say there is room to improve in order to hit the existing high bar for independent cafe's in Coulsdon.

Our food took ages and when it finally arrived, the girl got our orders all wrong. The vegan meal was made nonvegan with an egg. When asked to fix the mistake the waitress replied hesitantly she would fix it. The fish tank was dirty and the fish don't have a lot of space. The tables were sticky and dirty. The second cup of tea I ordered came in a very small cup 1/3 the size of the first cup, while I was paying just as much as the first. The food when it finally arrived was pretty bland and when I was asked about it I told the girl the tofu was really bland and suggested maybe they could marinate it to make it taste better. She replied with an offended 'okay'. Very unfortunate because I really would have liked to like this cafe as it's very close to where I am staying and I would've liked to get chai tea every morning as the price is okay but this was really not a good experience.

Be warned don't complain about anything otherwise the manager will argue with you. I suggest the staff are properly trained to know the difference between tagliatelli and ravioli. Not that that was a major issue. It was the rudeness and lack of offering an alternative that got to me. The special today was not what was described and at nearly £8 for 4 small ravioll was vastly overpriced. Overpriced for Coulsdon.

Tasty salads, I had halloumi, hubby had chicken, herbal teas, reasonable prices, good for a quick bite or relax and stay a little longer.
