Messed up order but were quick to rectify. Wings were so good

It's ok, a decent burger and decent wings washed down with an expensive beer, but nothing that stands out.

Recommended highly. Early diners get 2 for 1 cocktails and the chicken skin scratchings are amazing.

The place is decent, lovely warm fire on a cold day and an atmospheric setting. The good was tasty but kept getting our order wrong. The portions are quite small and massively over priced. Paid £20 for just the burger and chips (drink was extra) the chips alone in this picture are £8!!! And they are thin French fries not chips to give you an idea of portion size, they look like a decent portion but they really weren't. Staff are friendly but could do with a bit more knowledge on allergens.

Super small and overpriced portions. Burgers are a lot smaller than they were 2 months ago, and I had less than half a chicken breast in my £13 burger. We bought sides (as fries are no longer included), don't mind paying but the sides weren't very big for the price being charged. We left hungry which we've never done before in all the times we've visited. Food tasted good but very unhappy with the reduction in portion sizes. The drinks were great as were the friendly staff, just a shame the food isn't satisfying so doubt I'll be back as can't afford to eat out somewhere only to still be hungry.

A fairly decent selection of beer but seems to get worse every time I visit. Service friendly enough.

We’ve been coming here about 4 times a year since it opened and we’ve always loved the food. Bit disappointed tonight to be honest. Now have to order fries extra - which I don’t have an issue with but the chicken on the burger was probably a third of the size it used to be. While I appreciate prices rise and what you pay for gets smaller, I’m a tad disappointed. When this happens I vote with my feet and won’t be rushing back 😢

What a place, we started with the Bratwurst bites with honey mustard and my German boyfriend found them quite authentic so very good, we then had 2 delicious chicken burger that blew us away. But the stand out was definitely the guy behind the bar, couldn’t come over quick enough and made us feel very welcome. Great selection of beers also. Would recommend

We've been going to Beer & Bird every year for about 9 years and it never disappoints. The food is really good, service is excellent and friendly. The only complaint I have, as a craft beer lover, is the now limited number of taps and selection of cans on offer - there used to be a wider and more varied selection!

Attitude on staff vile, chicken under cooked said to waiter and told me it wasn't with a bad attitude. I would never return.

As soon as I entered, simply love the atmosphere. Quite romantic, friendly & good for get together. Ready good service. Happy chappy and friendly staff. Love the red counter area. Making me feel so romantic. Had couple of drinks there with friends and we really love it. Quite spacious place and plenty of seatings for holding big crowd. Worth to try

really not as good as it used to be. when i came here 2 years ago, i had the best chicken burger ever. now they’ve massively increased in price and are not as good. BBQ burger was soggy as was too soaked in sauce.

We came here 4 years ago and loved it, so made sure to come back on our holiday this year! The staff were so friendly and helpful and there was a generally very chilled out atmosphere! A good range of different options, we particularly liked that the vegetarian range offered the same options as the meat menu, just without the meat!! It meant everyone was happy and all had great quality meals! A good choice of drinks too, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We didn't feel rushed the time we were, felt very relaxed and that we could stay as long as we wanted to. Only thing I would add is this is up on the first floor, with no lift so if you have trouble with stairs or have a buggy I wouldn't recommend it! Especially as the toilets are up on the third floor! But other than that I would really highly recommend Beer & Bird to anyone visiting St Ives!

We had a good time over there. The food and the atmosphere was great. My son loved their Mac and cheese which was nice.

The entrance to this spot is a blink-and-you-miss-it type with a narrow door and you climb a fleet of stairs to reach the bar and dining space on the first floor. There is an entrance door to the side which opens to the adjacent road but we knew about it only once we were inside. The decor is mostly dark with an industrial feel to it which works except for the sticky tables and floors caused by remnants of sugary drinks spilled over the years. We wanted to try their fried mushrooms and pickles but sadly they had taken these off the menu. Got a beer and pomegranate spritz and they were both decent. The raging hot wings were delicious though the mix of wings and drumsticks in it was a bit confusing. It was early so got the OG burger and raging hot burgers along with the regular fries and sweet potato fries as takeaway. The OG burger could do with less salt on the batter but probably balances itself with alcohol or other additions to it for people who opt for it. The raging hot burger was ruined when we saw that the hot sauce was poured at the bottom of the burger catering the bottom half of the bun to be swimming in the sauce. The result was a soggy bun dripping in hot sauce. Mind you, this sauce is very hot! The fries were surprisingly crisp even when we had them at home so was happy with that. Service was good and we were happy with the staff who served us which is the reason for an extra star.

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had

We loooved! It's quite hidden away so feels like a world of it's own and they have really good vegan/vegetarian options- the battered mushrooms, halloumi and vgn burger were so tasty. It's not cheap but compared to London prices defo worth it. I have allergies and they catered well to this too.

One of the few gems in St ives still. Not the cheapest in town; but it's good value for money considering how good the food and drinks are. Food was absolutely amazing, hot, full of flavour and textures. Wings where meaty and flavourful. Cocktails made by the lady on the bar where delicious. Can't fault service. Reccomended 100%

We came here for a special anniversary meal. The food and was OK but I honestly can't believe the price of it. Most burgers are £15+ with some costing £20+. It's not even London prices which is quite shocking. I would advise against making a table booking because if you cancel within 24 hours, they reserve the right to charge £10 per person! What!? I've never seen this policy elsewhere, it's unbelievable. The staff were really nice.

Best burgers EVER and the maple cheese chips are to die for

Since I'd visited this place a few years ago I'm afraid this restaurant has gone down hill slightly and my food was too salty. Be careful of extras also not worth the money. Preferred it when they sold chicken pieces and not just burgers.

Currently sitting here drinking cocktails on their happy hour Have been served by a young gentleman called Che Cannot express how friendly and happy the people are here. It is a pleasure to be here. Keep up the good work.

Food really nice. Slightly slow service despite not being full and having ample waiting staff. Drinks nice as well. Would definitely recommend.

Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone, saw people of all ages enjoying every bite! The wife sorted a birthday meal and I could have not been happier with the food and service! Portions were more than plenty and delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful (even got a cocktail that wasn’t on the menu just by simply asking) Overall - Food, Service and prices, all 5 stars, can’t wait to go back!

Unreal! I’m not a massive chicken burger fan, but my god you guys have made my head turn! Beautiful food, well presented and reasonably priced. My other half is famously awkward when ordering, but they had no problem taking her ridiculous order (without writing it down may I add) and got everything spot on. You definitely won’t be disappointed! No wonder there’s not a kfc in sight, well played guys! 👏🏻👏🏻

We have been to Beer and Bird many times since it has opened as it was our favourite in St Ives but due to circumstances probably hadn't been for 8 months on our last visit a couple of weeks ago.Disappointed to see the menu had changed and now everything has some kind of sauce on.I used to have chicken with a side portion of gravy but that is no longer on the menu.Not everyone likes sauce so that meant while the rest of my family ordered meals,I had to order side portions to avoid sauce.We also were sat near the fire,it wasn't particularly cold outside but the waitress constantly fed the woodburner to the point the heat was physically burning my skin.I'd be hesitant about visiting again based on our last visit sadly

What an absolute hidden gem this place is. We were in St Ives for the day and found this place for our lunch. Easily missed from the street. Worth a climb up the stairs to this intimate bar restaurant that will not disappointment. The service was great and the food was incredible. The atmosphere, decor and general vibe were just what we wanted. Our food is shown in the images. We left feeling full and completely satisfied. Worth the trip to St Ives to visit this place again.

Have been to beer and bird a few times since last summer however they have changed their menu, changed their burgers and introduced table bookings with an hour and fifteen minutes change over so unless you just want to down a drink and fill your stomach with an average chicken burger don’t bother going. No time for desert and probably only one drink before you need to get the bill and leave. It has become overrated. If the owners read this please wind the clock back about a year as Beer and Bird was great food and atmosphere. PS: the staff are fantastic and doing their best to make it special despite the menu and change over times

The ambience is amazing, but the food is terrible: KFC style in an full service restaurant...the chicken was dry and the prices hefty. Don't go there.

Nicely presented decor, good selection of craft beers and well priced. Food was okay, the chicken was all a bit dry.

Atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. Meals were large and reasonably priced. Great selection of craft beers and cider and the shots of fruit punch to finish the meal was lovely. Food was fast to arrive. Downside was the chicken was overcooked and very dry which was a disappointment. I love southern fried chicken, it is my favourite, but I can't say I would go back again.

Best fried chicken and peach lager I've ever had!! Very busy so bookings are proffered, only thing this place needs is some AC as it was very very hot inside.

Added a 10% service charge to our bill for 3 main courses at £95. Nothing but bad kfc burgers served on a tin plates, everything is bland and covered in ranch dressing you couldn’t make it up, all fried chicken nothing healthy i.e no grilled chicken or salads, to finish the toilets were dirty that makes me wonder what the kitchen was like now I’ve seen it, really disappointed as we looked forward to going, wouldn’t go every again and sooner wished we hadn’t, staff were ok but a service charge of a tenner don’t warrant there service either

Stunningly expensive for basically KFC. The beer is nice and the staff are nice. They also force you to give a 10% service charge (which you would obviously feel uncomfortable and rude to ask them to remove). Instead of forcing me to tip, just pay your staff a decent wage.

Well what can I say, Beer & Bird was somewhere I was very excited to visit on my annual holiday in St Ives! Our visit a year ago was amazing and because of the lovely staff and tasty food, I just had to return again for another tasty instalment of their delicious food, great service and atmosphere…goodness me was I wrong! We arrived at the establishment at 18:40 and were seen to quite quickly in all fairness and shown to our table. To our confusion however, the menu we were presented with was different to the one displayed outside and the menu items and prices differed quite a lot which was a bit confusing. I’d been excited to try the chicken scratchins as they were delicious on my last visit. However, to my disappointment they weren’t on the new menu. This is absolutely fine, menu items change and it is not uncommon to run out of food. But the restaurant should be on top of their new menus and shouldn’t be displaying old menus with incorrect prices as this is exploiting the trades and description act. The service we received was extremely basic. The staff all stood around the bar drinking drinks with their backs turned to us. There were dirty tables and glasses on the bar, but they seemed to prefer to chat away and ignore their customers. When we did order, the food arrived very promptly which is something I cannot fault! The burgers did differ in our party. Mine personally tasted amazing and was what I expected from the restaurant from my previous visit. However, my party could not say the same. Their burgers were very slimy and they said we’re not tasty at all. All of our fries were undercooked so none of us could enjoy them. We were waiting for somebody to come over and check on us, but throughout our meal nobody attended our table to see if we were all enjoying our experience, which we weren’t. When we finished our food, you could see that my party had left quite a lot of their dinner. We were just waiting for the waitress to ask how everything was, but she never did. Before she could leave the table, I did say to her that The fries were undercooked. She said sorry about that and did nothing about it. In all fairness my party did not complain about the burgers due to not wanting to make a hassle as after that they got the impression that the team did not care. She never asked us if we wanted any more drinks or desserts too. By this point I had to flag over one of the other servers and ask for the bill due to our waitress not returning to the table. We intended on ordering some milkshakes, but due to the atmosphere and poor service we decided to head over to Tretho Lounge and continue the night there (where we are now having a fantastic night). When the bill was brought over, We could see that the waitress had not done anything about the fries which we upgraded for. On top of this there was a service charge on the bill which was 10%. I was absolutely shocked by this, the service and food we had received was ridiculous and there was absolutely no way I’d dream of tipping workers who had not looked after us and by the looks of it other customers in the restaurant. The service charge had not been advertised anywhere throughout or visit and we were not verbally made aware of it either. I absolutely hate to leave negative reviews, but I think it’s really important that people understand that this is not acceptable when dining out. They did nothing about our complaint, so because of that I’m leaving this review here for everyone to see. If they’d helped us out in store I wouldn’t have left this today and preferred to have sorted this out all there and then. A very disappointing evening indeed, will not be making any annual visits anymore!

Lots of vegan options and they sounded tasty, but everything we had was saturated with oil and the texture of the ‘chicken’ was really bad. Tried two small bits and couldn’t stomach any more. Staff were friendly and cocktails were nice. But wouldn’t eat here again.

Disappointed with this place, we were really looking forward to an epic chicken burger. Wasn't even greeted by the team of teenage waiters as we got upstairs, sat down and order arrived in 2mins! We thought the fries were included with the burger as the waitress asked what kind of fries we would like with the burger but were charged separately for them. Was also asked if we wanted sauce on the side, some sauce came in a little plastic container which we were later charged for lol, extremely overpriced for precooked chicken which has clearly been refried, no goodbyes or thank yous from the waiters who were busy chatting away...

Hmmmm heard alot of rave reviews about this place..... seemed like a very overpriced KFC to be fair !! Burgers are huge, couldn't eat all of mine. My Partner had chicken wings which on a Wednesday were a 'buy one portion get another free'. Not alotcof other choices on the menu sadly, just chicken wings or chicken burger, no other ways of having chicken (like a portion or whole chicken or something). Nice, clean place and was busy when we were there early March. Would I go back....not sure. Would I recommend....not sure, maybe go try it for yourself.

I had higher expectations after the reviews....Imo the beer is aweful, cloudy mud. I was expecting more chicken options but only got wings & not many for £7.95. The chicken burgers are just bordering ridiculous, the size is stupid, way too big for my Mrs who just laughed at the sheer size of it & she said apart from the chicken it was bland & tasteless & not worth £15....I wouldn't recommend....have a steak instead.

What a little hidden gem, found by accident, loved our time, rarely can I be accommodated gluten free and there was a whole menu catering for exactly my needs. Food and service outstanding. Exceptional cocktails and value if dining on a Sunday. Staff were so inviting from arriving to leaving, excellent standards of customer care, proprietors have a well managed establishment to cater for groups or couples. Lively atmosphere and great fun dining. Will defo return on our me little getaway to St Ives. Highly recommended. We also popped across the road to buy the newly launched rum as featured in our cocktails.

One of my favourite places. The food is fabulous and the staff are so warm and friendly. Sorry I cant remember names but the guy with the large beard is a superstar! Love that you do Jubel on draft one of my favourite drinks and not many places do. When in St Ives this is a must visit.

This place is simply excellent. As well as all sort as of chicken options they also have some vegan burgers too. Expansive choice of beers. Great music playing in the background! They don't take bookings so might be a gamble in the height of summer. Easy to miss as it's upstairs. Abandon any hope of eating the burgers without resorting to cutlery!! I will return for sure.

Wish we'd read the reviews, we we're intrigued with the 'no pre booking' concept and decided to go here based on that and the amazing looking photos of big crispy stacked burgers. The chicken in the burgers is tiny. Not worth the £££ cost of the burgers.

Confusion over the happy hour availability, beer served with grit in the glass and sent back. Food decent, service mostly good. Ketchup served in sashays which is always a negative for me.

If you don't want chicken then this might be the place. Servers were lovely, decent beer choices and what we had was tasty, but don't be fooled by the photos on their website. The chicken was, tiny, flat and disappointing, it was swamped by the bun. The photos show a glorious large portion but for £15, the miniscule buttermilk chicken portion (on both our Buns) was a massive disappointment. We had to eat again 3 hours later and couldn't recommend that place (hubbox) enough. Definitely one to avoid if you're looking for a satisfying, filling meal after a long day of walking/holidaying. We're visiting on a walking holiday and this has fell short of all our other experiences, which has left us feeling the need to review.

Pity for a lack of deserts. Otherwise delicious food and drink. And a cosy setting. Great staff too.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, I wouldn't say it was amazing but if you're looking for fast food, it's the best fast food I had for a while. I had a strange milkshake called the caramel apple cobbler, I was just curious about how it would taste and it definitely exceeded my expectations. It was basically a blended apple crumble. The burger I had was called the sweet mercy, it was a cheesy, maple covered chicken burger. It was delicious but as you can probably tell buy the photo, it was also allot and a little messy. Next time I might just get a raging coq. I would definitely recommend you pop down if you're craving some fast food and you're in St Ives.

It was ok, extremely sweet cocktail (though others may be less so) chips and chicken goujons ok but served in a tub with sachets of ketchup when asked for sauce. Give a four as benefit of the doubt that other items on the menu were better but really a 3 star if honest

Busy place very popular, do get there early if you want to avoid a wait. Food really good selection check their website for a menu. The beer selection was impressive, could do with being able to order a selection of beers like you can in other places. Access is upstairs although there is an on the level entrance from the back of you can't do stairs. Staff were effective and busy. Worth a visit for the beers.
