Always stay at the Premier in Newton Mearns when visiting family and friends. Comfy rooms and staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent evening meal and breakfast at the adjoining Beefeater, The Castle. Excellent service and friendly staff.

A family get together in a restaurant, something we haven't done in such a long time, thoroughly enjoyed the evening, was like we hadn't been away!Our server Laura C, welcomed us in with the joyful exuberance we are used to, always a pleasure to be looked after by her, a credit to her employers!Drinks were served promptly and we didn't need to wait long in giving our food orders.For starter we had Potato Dippers with Bacon and Salt and Pepper Calamari.For main, the youngest child had Fish Bites with Vegetables, the older had Mozzarella Filled Chicken Wrapped in Pancetta, the adults had 2 Mixed Grills and a Beer-Battered Haddock and Chips.Refills of both drinks and chips were served exactly when needed, no awkward waiting about, trying to catch the eye of the server, empty glasses and plates were cleared away quickly also.There was just enough room for dessert, Meringue Kisses, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Churros Chocolate Sundae and a Chocolate Torte, all presented immaculately and finished with the plates licked clean!All in all a fantastic return to The Castle, the staff certainly haven't lost their touch!Social distancing and mask-wearing was observed which put our minds at ease throughout.Highly recommended!

I have enjoyed eating here since it opened several years ago and it was the first place I went back to after lockdown. The COVID measures made me, and my elderly parents feel safe - important in these times. On my last visit I took 2 teenagers, 2 young children and elderly parents for an evening meal. There really is something for everyone on the menu - from a fussy vegetarian 14 year old to an equally fussy 76 year old! The food was, as always, delicious and perfectly cooked.The manager is so welcoming and his hospitable example is always followed by his friendly and accommodating staff - nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I’m looking forward to go back there soon!

Came in for a spot of lunch with my wife and 12 month old. Really good lunch menu which was excellent value for money. Service was excellent and the waiting staff we great with the little one (despite the mess she made) and despite it being quite busy, the food came timely and was a great potion size.Really can't complain, a great experience all round.

I took my 2 nieces out for a surprise breakfast. Kids loved their pancakes especially with Nutella. Unlimited Costa coffee and juice. Nice hot breakfast also. Staff were brilliant too. £9.50 for a family of 3 as the kids eat free if under 16. Bargain!

Met a friend for lunch , sat outside as the sun was shining ordered from the daytime value menu great value for money speedy service and service was second to none the waiter that brought our food stood snd chatted for a while would highly recommend never had a bad meal yet.

Do NOT eat here if you have young children, the manager is rude, sullen and contemptuous and clearly thinks that children should be seen and not heard.We were meeting our parents, whom we haven't seen for months due to Covid restrictions, for breakfast, as they were guests in the 'Premier' Inn. We ordered the food and it took a very long time, so naturally, our 2-year-old was getting hungry and threw a tantrum, as 2-year-olds do from time to time. We soothed him and took him outside a few times. Once back inside, he was still crying but was calming down when the manager very rudely ordered us to take our child outside because 'other diners were being disturbed'. This was not true - other diners were actually sympathetic and were giving us knowing sympathetic smiles. The fact is that the manager appeared straight out of the kitchen area, having been nowhere to be seen previously, and spoke down to us.We apologised and explained that our son was quieting down, but the manager basically ordered us to take him outside.We felt belittled, spoken down to and treated with contempt. The manager was sullen and haughty and refused to apologise to us.I dread to think how this manager reacts to babies, children with autism or disabilities, and neurodiverse people. The fact is, if the food had arrived promptly, there would have been no issue at all.I can only advise that if you have kids, you avoid this place like the plague.

Staff were pleasant enough but the food was really terrible - this was my second visit and there won’t be a third. Don’t order the beef pie - the crust was like a brick and the beef inside was spongey and unpleasant. The mashed potato was either instant or microwaved. Overpriced for generic reheated food. Nice restaurant, pleasant decor and ambience but looks aren’t everything.

Today for Fathers day I was treated to lunch here with my wife, daughter and Granddaughter. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Very bright and airy inside. For starters both my Granddaughter and I had the Cauliflower popcorn which was delicious, my daughter and my wife shared the chicken goujons which were also tasty. Mains both my daughter and I had the Lasagne, which was very warm and tasty. My Granddaughter opted for the melted chicken which she enjoyed, however my wife opted for the Steak which when it came was cold and no sauce as ordered, this was easily rectified by our waitress who was very patient and used active listening skills to resolve the issue quickly. Once that small issue was sorted the overall opinion was that on the whole the meal was very nice. Desserts I went for the Black Forest sundae which was delicious, both my wife and my daughter selected the meringue kisses which they enjoyed and my granddaughter had the Hazelnut bomb. All in all a very enjoyable experience and the price was reasonable too! We will be back!

In this horrible year the Castle gave us a slice of normality by serving up a great Xmas meal. The mushroom soup was hot and tasty. The turkey was tender and juicy. Baby Brussels sprouts were very tender. Roast potatoes done to a tee. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was delightful. The service was immaculate and safe. Well done and many thanks for making Xmas day that bit special.

Popped in to the Castle Beefeater for a quick lunch to get away from working from home for an hour. Really great quick service. Good food and friendly helpful staff. Just what was needed. Great prices on the lunch menu.

We visited the Castle on Saturday for lunch, despite the restaurant being very busy, the service was excellent and the food was amazing - esspecially the steaks! All the staff were very attentive and friendly - we will definitely be back soon.

Service was terrible starter plates not cleared when the main meals were served ceaser salad ordered only chicken and a big load of lettuce on plate mixed grill ordered sausage missing and gammon steak also lasagne ordered with flatbread got garlic bread with it there was only about 5 tables being served so no excuse for very poor service quality of food was not up to standard meals also sitting at hot plate for about 15 mins

We us the Castle in Newton Mearns quite a lot, especially for lunch. The food is great and the staff are all very friendly and helpful with prompt service and hot food. Our safety in these trying times is at the forefront of the way they have maintained social distancing and hygiene for their customers. I would recommend it to anyone.

This was our first visit to The Castle - The food was outstanding and the service was excellent especially from our waitress, Katy. We will definitely be back.

Llevamos a la esposa al Beefeater del castillo y comimos filetes, Wow - Wow, súper puntiagudos y jugosos. La selección de Cask Ale es muy limitada, podemos ver más selección en el sur. El personal es muy amable y la presencia del gerente en el piso del restaurante en todo momento revisa las cosas, habla con varias mesas y ayuda detrás de la barra. Todo parece una operación muy bien organizada, con toda la seguridad de COVID 19 en su lugar, con el personal usando máscaras y puedes desinfectar tus manos en diferentes puntos dentro del restaurante. Beefeater bien hecho, definitivamente volveremos.

Excellent choice of Scottish breakfast which includes tea, coffee cereal and bread for £8-99 normally but half price on government scheme. Normally a buffet but table service at the moment. Good value if you are hungry. Friendly staff, especially the manager. Will definitely be back

This evening myself, my friend with her 2 children booked the castle for dinner. Katy, our waitress was OUTSTANDING. From start to finish she ensured we were satisfied with our starters and mains and did check in between if we were pleased. Katy, has excellent customer service and cannot fault her in the slightest. We will definitely return and hopefully we receive her again as a waitress. The food was amazing and everything was a perfect portion. Thanks again!

Arrived on time. Was told straight away from lady with blonde hair on arrival that they need table back after 1 hour. High chair for kids very dirty. Female member of staff has poor customer service skills. Ordered fish. Was very soggy and tasteless. Would never go back. A bad experience.

Al alojarnos en el Premier Inn local, decidimos relajarnos con una copa en el pub de al lado. Asientos cómodos y bien decorados, pero muy tranquilos en ambas visitas.Mala selección de cervezas ale, que es la norma para los pubs que no son cervecerías, pero una gran variedad habitual de marcas "internacionales" franquiciadas "populares" (es decir, de alto beneficio) producidas a granel en el Reino Unido.Servicio muy rápido de personal agradable y reglas de Covid en su lugar. It has been ages since we have been able to dine out because of the virus and a great reopening of this venue was great for us even though it had a restricted menu. It was a very good meal of steak done just the way we required it to be cooked and look forward to dining in the near future. As on previous occasions we had 50% off our meals which was a great help So in summing up a good night out for us all

We had breakfast here while staying in the Premier Inn. It was our first visit following easing of lockdown restrictions. Everything was well organised and all of the staff were helpful and engaging on both occasions. The breakfast was delicious freshly prepared and served at our table. The staff gently and politely reminded guests to follow the one way system and not to have children moving around unsupervised. All in all a really good experience. We also enjoyed a drink at the bar on a couple of evenings and again felt very safe and well looked after.

With its warm ambiance, competitive pricing and comprehensive menu this restaurant is well worth a visit. Our waitress Laura was very friendly and efficient which helped make it the enjoyable and relaxing dining we experienced

Opté por el eglefino y las patatas fritas con guisantes blandos, las 3 comidas se sirvieron sin demasiada espera, a pesar de ser un sábado por la noche muy ocupado. ¡Las recargas de papas fritas y bebidas (como es la norma con Laura C como nuestro servidor) se reponen rápidamente sin ninguno de los temidos momentos de "vaso vacío / papas fritas"! En general, fue una comida fantástica, excelente relación calidad-precio, excelente servicio!

Steaks was cooked just how we like them, Mrs loved the meringue desserts I went traditional with caramel apple Betty with custard, superb service as always from Laura and the rest of the team

I asked for steak to be cooked medium but it came well done and gristly- really dry and chewy.The mixed vegetables had obviously been microwaved because some were very cold while others were not.At no point did anyone ask how the food was- I was going to mention the problem but the server seemed too busy and I was unable to catch her eye.Even as she cleared the table she didn't ask about the meal.Based on this experience I am doubtful whether I would go back

One of our favourite eating places with the whole family. Great food at very good prices. Staff are excellent. They are extremely pleasant and efficient. Laura served us last evening and her sense of humour and pleasant manner made our evening all the more enjoyable.

Dinner for 5, restaurant busy despite the January "pinch" being in play, we just had main courses (haddock and chips, chicken and chorizo pie, Doom bar pie, chicken breast and gravy), food arrived without too much of a wait even though it was busy, chips and drinks refilled regularly, service with a smile as usual, well recommended as always!

Came here last weekend for the first time and wow what an experience. Food was fantastic and service was delightful! We cant remember our waitresses name but she was so fab!!! We will definitely be returning soon!!

Enjoyed a lovely meal at the beefeater opted for the new 12oz fillet it was delicious cooked perfectly and was very tender and juicy would highly recommend especially with a discount voucher worth every penny will return definitely very soon.

Feel I have to write something after the way the manager of the restaurant has spoke to me and my friend. Was out for a birthday dinner with my friend and our 2 children we had took some small toys with them to play with as kids can get board the place was dead. The kids were definitely not running about and was asked to keep the noise down as it’s a more adult environment restaurant I was a bit confused as we just ordered off a kids menu?? We cancelled our order and left. Never will I ever be back.

Restaurant great, friendly staff good menu had many meals here now all good. Bar area you can have a conversation in if your out for a quiet chat rather than high volume music.

This review is primarily about a recent evening visit however, due to a lunch visit a few days prior, certain aspects can be compared.

We arrived for dinner at 7pm, the car park was almost full so we didnt hold out much hope for a table. However, we were greeted by the smiling Laura C who, despite being extremely busy, took us to our seats and put our drinks orders through quickly. We noted the new menu which Laura talked us through but chose our usual mains ie. Double Bacon and Cheese Burger x2 and a Mixed Grill. As is typical with Laura's service, our chips and drinks were never empty and, as always, seems to sense when my maximum chip level has been reached! The chefs were ran off their feet but coped magnificently and got the meals out without too much of a wait, despite the high number of orders placed.

Came here for a family meal on a Saturday the restaurant was really full but we where seated without a booking our server was lovely quick efficient service and a great meal will be back again

We had the sharer to start and was superb. Fish and chips was our main, fish wasnt great but chips were also really good. Male server was great didnt get his name but was pleasant and helpful also had refills given to us without asking which was greatly appreciated

Family birthday dinner was a great success new menu with lots of new dishes I tried the 12oz fillet it was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, all other food was great too great atmosphere and friendly staff will definitely be back soon

server was polite and professional, we ordered steaks and it was delicious. the fillet steak was slightly overdone but the rump was perfect.

We should have learned from last time, but this place is close to the house, so we gave it one last try. My son ordered the rib eye, medium-rare, my wife had the same, medium. You couldn’t tell the difference between them, both were about medium-well done! Every time we go there, they over-cook the steak. At least I know better now, so I had the fish and chips, which was ok.

Another great meal at the castle.As always steak was delicious. My husband had the sweet potato and feta lasagne and really enjoyed it. Laura was her usual friendly and efficient self. Always knows when you need a drinks refill, nothing is a bother to her.Always a pleasant dining experience at the castle.

The Asian beef starter was delicious and the steaks cooked to order although they did need a sauce as slightly dry.

Went for lunch , food was not good , tandoori burger looked black and the coating on it fell off in one big piece , nachos had no cheese but the girl pointed to tiny squares and said that’s your cheese , had to wait ages for drinks , staff lovely but run off there feet , they looked stressed out , won’t go back , used to go regularly but won’t be going back .Waste of £75 .

As a family, we have eaten at The Castle many times in the past although not for a couple of years.

I've been working in Scotland for 2 weeks now and none of the restaurants attached to Premier Inns do a different menu to the one I will get in Plymouth next week, its Scotland surely you can do a different menu?

Had an enjoyable meal at the Castle. 2 courses £12.99 so we shared a starter both had a main and then shared a desert. Good amount of food and good value. A decent place for a slap up meal.

Cenamos en el castillo el lunes 3 de junio, ya que viajamos 20 millas de ida y vuelta para cenar allí específicamente, ya que era un asador, ambos ordenamos el filete solo para que se nos informara que se habían quedado sin filete el día anterior, por un día. un asador para quedarse sin su plato principal es una vergüenza y no es la primera vez que nos pasa esto, a regañadientes ordené una alternativa ya que no me molestaba en irme a cenar a otro lugar, hay algo mal si Se me acabó el plato de la firma. Soy un cliente habitual y miembro de la tarjeta club. Finalmente, me sentí decepcionado después de viajar tan lejos para cenar allí.

Visitamos este restaurante al pasar. Era domingo por la noche y el restaurante estaba lleno. Terminamos sentados en la zona del bar. El personal era servicial y amable y la comida estaba bien preparada para los estándares de Beefeater de pub grub y llegamos en buen tiempo de ordenar teniendo en cuenta que estaba ocupado.

Two meals for £10. What's not to like! My husband had a burger and I had an open chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty. Soft drinks not cheap but I suppose they need to make money some how. Would definitely recommend.

Family meal out service was slow and the food was ok although we had to send our fish back as the batter was soggy they gave us a fresh one and this was over cooked staff didn’t appear too concerned so we settled the bill and left. We won’t be back !

We had dinner here whilst staying g at the Premier Inn, were niot expecting much to be honest, but it was convenient and cheap! Well we were pleasantly surprised. We caught up with family thr on a Saturday night, service was excellent and the food was wel above average for the price, great kids selection and we all enjoyed our meals, large portions and very tasty. Scallops for the starter were very good. We also had breakfast tge next morning which was also very good and at £9.50 per adult for cooked and continental, with the kids eating free it was fabulous value!

Overall a calm atmosphere with nice drinks and decent priced menus. It was quite busy and very nice inside.

Visited on Saturday eve as staying next door at premier inn. Excellent service and equally good food. My wife had tuna steak and I had the chicken chorizo pie, both were excellent.

Recommended by friends, we gave it a go and were not disappointed. Deep fried Mushrooms and Buttermilk Chicken Goujons were very acceptable starters, very hot, very tasty.

Arrived Sunday evening the restaurant was jumping very very busy so we sat in the bar and had food . Ordered fillet steak cooked to perfection delicious good atmosphere and good service at the bar will return very soon can highly recommend.

Nosotros reservamos en caso de que no podamos conseguir una mesa, pero normalmente no es un problema. El personal es muy atento saber nuestras bebidas mientras nos sentamos. Nuestra camarera Laura C es su persona eficiente y siempre vigilando para ver si las bebidas necesitan ser reemplazadas. Le pedí consejo sobre diferentes cosas en el menú y le aconsejé si tenía mi habitual o si costilla argentina o si intentara algo diferente. Mi esposo tiene una hamburguesa o un filete que siempre está preparado para que le guste. solíamos ser asiduos aquí hace unos años. Pero decidí probar pastos nuevos puramente para un cambio de lugar. pero regresé anoche para una comida de celebración de cumpleaños número 90, y todos nos alegramos de haberlo hecho. no ha cambiado mucho en el diseño, pero estaba bien para empezar. El personal está en la pelota al igual que el gerente. La comida era muy buena. teníamos una mezcla de los platos del menú, algunos tenían bistec, algunos tenían pescado y mi hijo recibió un plato de pollo con paprika. en mi opinión, este restaurante es mucho mejor que la franquicia de Miller y Carter al lado. El Beefeater en el castillo es una experiencia gastronómica mucho más relajante / cómoda / amigable.

We use The Castle Beefeater regularly and the reason is all about consistency . The food is always good and the staff are very pleasant and helpful . Many other restaurants around need to take a lesson from the Castle as what they do works . Well done ! We were there again last night and once more couldn't fault the food or the staff .

So turned up at the Beefeater today to meet up with friends for our Festive Lunch Turkey with all the trimmings looking forward to this. There it was emboldened and highlighted on the Menu Ordered the drinks Prosecco to help along the Celebrations.

We go here very regularly as it's local and has the right draught beer on tap for us. The staff are what make this Beefeater so pleasant and enjoyable for us. Connor and his team take the time to get to know the "regulars" and always have a friendly smile and the time for a chat to all customers while getting the orders sorted. The menu changes seasonally and is good value for money especially if there's regular weekly discounts and/or you have a Beefeater loyalty card. The clientele change regularly as it's attached to the Premier Inn but that's part of the appeal - the regulars and the new customers all enjoying the same space. Well worth a visit!

Una gran elección y usted pudo haber tenido cualquiera de las opciones cocinadas como papilla como quisiera. Usted mismo organiza su té / café, jugo, fruta y tostadas, pero pide la comida cocinada. El camarero era muy alegre y servicial y sin duda volvería para el desayuno. We stayed at the Premier Inn next door to The Castle Beefeater. The meal deal was good ,dinner was more than adequate but the breakfast served on Monday the 08/10/18 was superb. As the breakfasts in Premier Inn are normally buffet / self service ( and therefore already cooked) we only have a fried breakfast when we return from Egypt after no pork for four weeks. We took our grandson for dinner to the Castle. We have been before on our own and meals are usual pub grub. I had the upgraded fish which I wish I hadn’t the fish is battered and the skin left on. Be warned if you don’t like skin on your fish.

This Beefeater Restaurant has a very spacious and well laid out interior. The chefs can be seen working away as their cooking station is open and in view of diners.

We arrived at 5pm, our server Laura C welcomed us with a huge smile and couldn't have made us more welcome! We decided to order from the saver menu, an Open Chicken Sandwich and a Double Bacon and Cheese Burger. The photographs show that, despite being from the cheaper menu, the meal isn't any less satisfying, everything was cooked and presented perfectly, refills were promptly replenished by our wonderful server, with no waiting required! Having visited other Beefeaters nearby, this one never fails to produce the goods, others can be a hit or miss, depending on how busy they are, however, every table can be full and the same service and food quality is produced!

Went for breakfast with friends. What a busy place. Staff still had time to be friendly and explain both breakfast menus. Food was warm and good choice, cooked was warm and not greasy

Staying at the local Premier Inn, we decided to go for the all you can eat Breakfast. £9.50 pp for the cooked option, we really did ‘top up’ for the day ahead.

We booked a large table for 7, 4 adults, 3 kids, for dinner. Shown to our table very quickly with drinks brought within minutes of us being seated despite the restaurant being packed. Our server Kirsty was helpful all evening with drinks and refills arriving swiftly and slight changes to any courses were accomodated with no problems at all by the kitchen staff. Food was great, pictures are of the Potato Dippers starter and the Triple Bacon and Cheese Burger with a side of Gravy. Another fine evening at the Beefeater was had.

Visited Beefeater Newton Mearns last night had a great meal food very affordable and very tasty. We were served by Laura c and I have to say her service was exceptional always smiling very chatty made our night

I know there is a lot of competition around at lunchtime so you can usually get some OK food at OK prices but at The Castle and for a while now, they are offering a small but really good range of lunches at £5 a main course. We had fish and chips with peas and a 5oz gammon steak with skinny fries, peas and a fried egg. All for £10 and the quality was top notch. A pint of soda water and lime came in at £1.20, you can pay up to £3 for the same thing in nearby restaurants, so if you are looking for somewhere really good and great value then The Castle is a must. Oh, the weather was fantastic too, so we ate outside, a real bonus.

Used to be a regular to the restaurant, it had a good range of food on the menu and be same friendly staff (particularly the red headed girl who’s name I can’t remember).

After discovering the 'value menu' here we cannot resist and have been every Saturday for the past 5 weeks. Laura C has been our server for most of these visits and she is very friendly, professional and attentive.

Visited our local Beefeater for a birthday dinner. The food was excellent and all of us could easily find something we wanted to eat. Our server Laura C was incredibly welcoming and very helpful.

Another great meal at the castle and as always great service from Laura C. A very enjoyable dining experience. Had the ribeye steak really tender and full of flavour. Much prefer this to sirloin now.

Had a lovely meal last night in the Newton Mearns Beefeater.My best pal was back visiting us from London and he commented on the great friendly service from out waitress and the great value food. Well done everyone!
