Great place, great atmosphere, great food.

We had a wonderful dinner at Bedouin and would highly recommend this restaurant to those in Cambridge as great value alongside a fantastic atmosphere. Perfect for groups or date night! I learned Bedouin are a nomad Arabic tribe from which the restaurant draws its influence with a vibrant interior and tableware to boot setting the scene for a beautiful dinner. For starters we ate the Haniounette and Kemiette. The spicy hummus & tagine bread combination is second to none and this is by far the best North African starter menu I've seen. The Brik pastries are also sweet and savoury with such a unique and delicious flavour. For main we had Felous Masella and Betenjel Farci. The portions are beyond plentiful, hearty and are of great quality. I've scored the food as a 4 but think this could easily tip to a 5 with alternative menu choices. The chicken dish just wasn't my perfect taste for this sort of food and chicken cooked slightly over how I'd eat it (but much better than pink). I regretted not trying the meatball tagine and think that would transverse this review to a 5 across the board. Definitely perfect location, value for money and experience with beautiful array of teas and mocktails to accompany the meal. We will be back during our next visit to Cambridge.

Exceptional restaurant! Congratulations to the team

After making the journey from London specifically to dine at this restaurant, we were eager to experience the praised cuisine and ambiance. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a gentleman who appeared to be the manager (Algerian) instantly making us feel welcomed . The cozy atmosphere added to the warmth of the experience. As we embarked on our culinary journey through North Africa, each dish, from the BASTILLA DJEDJ to the CREVETTES MCHERMLA and the BETENJAL BEL TAHINA, was freshly prepared, impeccably seasoned, and utterly delightful. The TAGINE BERKOOK, TAGINE ZAYTOUN, and couscous further impressed with their flavors. Concluding our meal with delectable desserts and refreshing mint tea was the perfect finale. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience, and the journey from London is certainly worthwhile. Massive Well Done Everyone!

Was in Cambridge for a day and decided to have lunch here based on reviews. It did not disappoint. The ambiance and decor is superb and can see the attention to detail down to the water glasses, the way bill is presented and general vibe. Lamb shank tagine was amazing. Bursting with flavour and served very hot 🔥 Portions are quite big so maybe 1 main course between 2 ppl is more appropriate. The staff is friendly and service is good.

I ordered a dish that i thought was overcooked, so they explained that this is the way the dish will be served. I could choose another dish and they taked the first one back, without charging. All the others dishes where great and the people are very friendly, great service! I feld sorry for sending the dish back, but They told me “ we just want happy customers”

Best North African food I have ever tried. Everything was perfect, we were visitors from Glasgow and we were lucky to visit such a place 🤗

So excited to visit this place again!!! I am quite a foodie and rarely do I get impressed by food when eating out as most places try to cut corners; I also rarely write reviews. This place left me with no complaints and I am so shocked by how tasty the food was. So hearty, homey and full of flavour 😋 everything was so so well cooked and had the right combination of texture and flavour - it was just PERFECT! It’s also a rarity to see this in the UK but absolutely love the extra effort of bringing some free appetisers and a little sweet menthol candy to end your meal. The portion size was really good too, we had the Kamiette, and two mains to share for two people(a Tajine and Betenjel Farci) + a drink. Ended up paying ~£50 for two, which is reasonable these days, especially for the quality of the food you get. Ah, the atmosphere is very cozy too, you feel like you’re abroad. It can be a little tight as they get very busy so you’ll likely be siting close to other people but all the rugs surrounding do well to absorb the noise around so it’s not too bad.

I used Bedouin as caterer for my birthday. The diner was 3 courses: starter Mezze, main Tajine and dessert baklavas and tea. The food was exquisite, the service was very professional and kind. Overall it created a very warm and friendly atmosphere. My guests are still talking about the fantastic food and for me and my husband it created a wonderful memory.

Really busy Thursday evening with a great vibe. Staff were fabulous. Polite, attentive but unobtrusive. Food was really good. I couldn't quite give 5 stars as my vegan main was lacking depth of flavour. Still a lovely experience.

Absolutely delighted with my second visit to Bedouin restaurant! The culinary experience was exceptional, with dishes like Tagine Kefte and Flose Msella showcasing unique and delightful flavors. I went here for my birthday. We all found the food to be amazing, and reasonably priced. Big thanks to Mahmood for the excellent service. Will definitely be coming here again!

The restaurant is so beautiful, a typique Algerian sahara décoration, the food is delicious, the service is amazing and The atmosphere is the best, they were so nice that they putted our Algerian playlist and they even offer to us two starters, highly recommended, 10/10

Really delicious food which we thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend getting the Kemiette as a starter, lovely mix of flavors. Both the Tangine Beldi and the Djedj M'Hamer were excellent and deserts were great too. Definitely worth visiting even if North African cuisine isn't your favorite, because I think there will be something on the menu you will enjoy.

Genuinely some of the best food I’ve had

The tastiest meal I've had in a while. A change from the norm. Warm welcome, friendly service, authentic style bedoin. I had hummus with lamb and my partner, liver, both were lovely but the show stopper was the main course. I had beef tagine and my partner the meatball dish. We has thought the menu was a bit limited but this restaurant is a great example of do what you do and do it well. Fab, strongly recommend.

This is my second time visiting Bedouin, and I can’t wait to go back again! Incredible service from a kind, super knowledgeable staff, and the food was delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. I got the Lamb Tagine Meatballs which were to die for, and my friend got the beef, which was succulent and melt in your mouth. We finished off with the Baklava, which was the perfect sharing dish. You won’t find anything remotely comparable in Cambridge.

EXCEPTIONALLY DISSAPOINTING EXPERIENCE. I'd love to say the food is as good as I remember ,but never got as far a eating it! We arrived a few minutes early for an advance booking. The place was rammed and there were no tables free at all. So clearly overbooking goes on here. No room to wait inside ,so forced to stand in the cold until a table came free, with me using a crutch to stand and with an 80-year-old relative. The tables are packed in pretty tight too. It was not easy getting to ours with a crutch, so not exactly accessible. The staff were polite and took our order quickly enough. But then groups who arrived after us were getting their starters and then main courses before we got anything. After waiting a full hour, we cancelled the whole order and left. Not a great birthday for me. After a long conversation the following day, on the phone, where their excuses and timing of events simply didn't match up, they eventually agreed to refund the drinks.

We booked a table for 8.30pm, had to wait for a table to be ready and left at 9.55pm. I can't comment on the food, it never appeared. We did get an apology from the waitress when I went to pay for the drinks but no explanation for lack of food. Pizza Hut across the road is good....

Best restaurant for North African food in Cambridge and so far the best restaurant in this historic city. Been here twice in a week time.

First time try North Africa food. I feel like similar with Mediterranean food. Lamb is really soft and tender. The taste is good. For drink mock tails, I don’t fancy with it.

Das Essen war OK aber hat mich nicht umgehauen, die Pommes waren eher ecklig da diese nach sehr verranztem Fritierfett geschmeckt haben. Das Lamm war gut aber nicht so stark gewürzt was eher schade war. Mir hat die Einrichtung nicht gefallen, die lange Sitzbank ist zwar speziell aber hat definitiv auch schon bessere Tage gehabt.

What a find! We popped in here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon (we hadn't reserved) and were greeted warmly. We ordered cocktails, starters and tagines for main course and the everything was absolutely delicious and served with a smile. We had a selected of both hot and cold starters served with bread and the tagines came with a choice of bread of couscous. The meat in the tagines was so tender and delicious (we ordered a chicken, lamb shank and lamb meatballs) Sadly we didn't have room for dessert but we'll definitely go back another time and save space. Highly recommended and worth a trip.

I had dinner there recently with someone extremely special to me. I hadn't been there before, and was a little anxious, but I needn't have worried. Magnificent food, service and atmosphere. We had a magical evening. Thank you!

Came here for our anniversary meal. Ordered starters main and dessert. The mains were lovely and good portions. The service was so so disappointing. The tables are really small and whenever we got a drink and finished it no one bothered to come collect it or even had patients to stop when I asked for them to... Other tables seemed to have around the clock service, clean tables from glasses and checked up on. We were just sitting there for ages between courses being stared at yet ignored. Even when I asked for the bill twice one of the staff said in a minute and walked off just fixing some napkins... Overall food was okay, main is worth it compared to the dessert and drinks which simply weren't to our taste. The place looks cozy and lovely, the tables are a bit close together and small so hard to have a chat and properly relax as everything might aswell be one long table. It's worth a visit, and hopefully you get them on a good day where they want to serve and check up on their customers.

Favourite place for tagine and hummous

Sensational food, great service and superb atmosphere. Took my wife for our first anniversary and it didn't disappoint. We'll certainly be back next time we visit the city.

Had a small function, the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The function was well organised.

The food is incredible. Service was a little slow but to be expected as it was very busy. Definitely recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. We didn’t book and ended up waiting an hour, on a Wednesday evening. It is alcohol free but the alcohol free cocktails were amazing and there was an extensive drink selection.

I arrived just before 3pm when the kitchen was closing. However I was warmly welcomed in and seated. The food; lamb tagine was incredible as was the ginger spiced cocktail (no alcohol served here). The owner was chatty and welcoming despite end of service and waiting to clear down. I guarantee this place is worth a visit! Can't wait to return with the rest of the family!

Honestly I had much higher expectations. Food was normal and for the price it was not the greatest. However, service was really good and atmosphere inside was nice. It is always busy so maybe I missed something. I think there are better things around for the same prices in the city.

The BEST food I've tried in a while! Went here on our visit to Cambridge and my partner as I have never tried north African food before. We only got two mains and hummus as a side as we weren't too hungry but the food was just fantastic and their portions were big. Although it's been a few weeks since my visit, I still dream about the food! I would go back in a heartbeat if ever in Cambridge again.

Visited Cambridge this weekend, pre booked Bedouin, really liked the look of the menu! It didn’t disappoint! We had the sharing starter, which was delicious! Then I had the fish tagine, my partner had the lamb tagine, both with cous cous! We also ordered chips (which weren’t the best) and olives, we quickly realised we didn’t need that much food! Very filling and delicious!

A great place, the food is excellent (the borek are just amazing), cocktails as well and the servers are incredibly nice and lovely. I recommend this restaurant without any hesitation!

Well deserving of its win as best restaurant in Cambridge, 2022. Outstanding food, lovely atmosphere and great service. It's excellent value for money as the portions are more than enough and meals are flavoursome and hearty. It's worth bearing in mind that it can get crowded as it's a popular place to dine, and for some customers the seating can be a little uncomfortable as it's very low.

Lovely food, and fun interior, but quite slow service.

Absolutely horror show! Never in my many years have ever written a review, but I just had to for this place. On arrival a young girl welcomed us even though I hinted a slight rude tone of voice and overall character. After been seated we waited…and waited…and waited…for our menus. After waiting so long I had to go and ask for for our menu, again the rude waitress with her grumpy face kept saying “what”, “huh” as if I was speaking tongue tied. When we got our menus and decided what to eat, of course you guessed it… we waited again for service, once more I had to wave the waitress down for service (which I dreaded). So after waiting a trillion, billion, million years and watching people come in, in groups of 5 and getting their food before us (me and my girlfriend). We finally got our food!!! Hallelujah! Hold on where’s my food? I ordered the lamb cutlets, 3 skinny tiny…no minuscule lamb cutlets. That were still bleeding, nearly moving and absolutely full of salt there’s less salt in the ocean. I mean that’s on the meat there was, which was about 2 bites overall. And half my plate full of soggy chips and the other half full of salad, that could feed a family of giraffes. After complaining to a waitress which I hate doing, she replied with “wellll that’s how the lamb cutlets come” (what dripping with blood?) with her poker face. I said well you should of gave me 10 then, not 3! After she said she would get the manager we then again waited and waited for this manager to come. To my surprise no manager arrived but the same waitress who said “he said thank you for your feedback, would you like a free desert?”. ARE YOU SERIOUS? The manager can’t face me to apologize for his nearly moving lamb on my plate. Why would I want anymore food, after complaining about how utterly diabolical it was. Wow. Better service at McDonald’s. £47 I will never get back and thanks for ruining our date night. Lots more I could write but I don’t want to bore you like their food. Shocking.

Either book in advance, or try uour luck later in the evening. We had to come back after a stroll up and down the street,-no regrets! Also this street is full of restaurants, if no luck in this one. Never tried this cuisine before, and very happy with it. Mint tea -simple, refreshing, aromatic! Do give it a try, fun to pour it from a fancy pot. In case you are wondering, I think adding cuscus to meat has an advantage- the later is closer to you, hence you feel the wonderful aroma better. I gave 4 stars for food, because while my lamb with apricots and prunes was very tasty, someone ordered seafood, and it was quite dull. My impression is they cooked the sauce separately from fish, mussels and prawns,and then just added those later without giving them the chance to absorb the aroma. The atmosphere is very nice. I liked the decor. Although it is quite dark. Very friendly service. They switched off the air conditiining above our table on my request and switched on another one, thx! Try parking on the side streets. And the sides of the sides.
