Really disappointed with the service here, we were recommended this place by a family member who had been previously and said how lovely it was. We ordered a broccoli and Stilton quiche from the menu at the desk which didn’t state what the quiche came with so we assumed it came on its own. We had even asked what the size of it would be and was never told if anything came with it. Our food comes to the table and I noticed walnuts all over the salad I am allergic to nuts and it was not made clear we would get a salad or anything with the quiche. I told the woman “oh sorry to be a pain but I’m allergic to nuts” she then goes “ugh did you not tell them you have an allergy” well no we didn’t say because we didn’t realise it came with anything! She took the plate and when she came back with it she goes “just a word of advice next time if you have an allergy or intolerance to anything I’d suggest you told somebody when ordering food” we were both taken back by the tone of voice from this woman! How rude! Yes I understand I should have said but if they had wrote on the menu nuts were with the meal I wouldn’t have even ordered it. She did then came back later apologising however there was no need to be as rude as she was! We felt very uncomfortable the whole time we were eating which is a shame. Really taken back by this and really disappointed because this place would be lovely in the summer especially with the animals.

Really lovely place with nice food but the service leaves a lot to be desired came in as small group today, they must have come to our table 4 times with the wrong orders and each time made us feel like it was our fault and we must have ordered it, one of the party (me) didn't get the correct order until everyone else had almost finshed eating, very dissapointing as heard such great things about this place and everything else was nice.

Beautiful hot day, 23 degrees. Arrived on the bike so didn’t want to sit inside for obvious reasons. Ordered afternoon tea for two. £30 !!! Because the cafe was nearing full and the weather was glorious we sat outside in our leathers. Yea was given to us in a paper cup and the rest delivered on boxes. No crockery whatsoever. Four quarter sandwiches, a bag of crisps, scone jam and cream, and a slice of cake. Let’s say the sandwich was £3, the tea,£3, the crisps £1, the scone and jam £3, that puts the Slice of cake at £5. Disgusted at the price and the manor of service.

Pleasant area overlooking a pond & woodland. The Priory ruins sits amidst farmland with sheep, lambs & we saw a couple mistlethrush birds. Sadly the cafe experience was not so great we had decaf coffee which was very wishy washy (weak) & the Gluten free brownie was a little stodgy. Choice of seating in or out & we chose outside because the cafe is very small. It was a little windy even on a warm sunny day, needed an extra layer (always be prepared!) Overall wouldn't go again

Went to a wedding at this venue and it was absolutely gorgeous, it was one of the hottest days of the year and the stone brickwork made it so cool,. It's a very rustic place with a large area for the children to play on bouncy castles that had been hired, while the parents and other guests watched them safely from benches and tables ( a parasol on the tables would have been wonderful) the food was second to none, so flavoursome and plenty to have, peacocks and chickens roaming freely was a pleasant sight,. We did let them know 20 minutes in advance of this decision but they still brought the food and desserts to us in boxes which were for when you are seated outside and we didn’t know, as they don’t even tell you anything. We asked the girl if she could change it and put in plate for us but her answer was that they were very busy so no. She did not even ask if we would mind to wait for that to be done or anything just said no. The food was not good, i had to eat a sandwich that only had cheddar on it and nothing else and not even melted. I paid £30 and even left tips but just to receive a disappointing service. I am giving 3 stars only because we enjoyed the nature.

I checked the website and spoke on the phone before visiting but it is not mentioned that they are currently offering a reduced menu, understandle but a little notice on the website would be helpful. They are also not booking tables but afternoon tea is currently only available to prebook. Again, you don't find this out until you ask. A slightly more informative notice at the top of their page stating a reduced menu and afternoon tea available when booked in advance would solve some disappointment.
