Beatties Fish and Chip Shop in Belfast

I have just got a pastie supper, 2 sausages and chicken nuggets, the ends of the chips was like trying to bite bricks, the pastie was burnt and greasy that's the first and last time i will visit there. I would not recommend beatties.

Just got fish supper out of here today which was not cheap !!!! No taste at all of the fish TERRIBLE

Just had the greasiest meal ever. The scallops were in a layer of oil and were threw straight in the bin The fish was not much better I phoned them to say how bad it was and they offered me my money back for the scallops but when I advised them I wouldn’t be back the attitude was not good

One of the best chippies staff is friendly and the southern chicken is lovely. The only down side is don't take cards but bank machines in the Centra up the Street.

Tasty and reasonable priced fish and chips. Loved the chips and it’s curry sauce but was a bit gutted that no tartar sauce was available. I guess it’s not common but you should give it a go and it will change your life forever:-)

Ridiculous portion size £17 for a takeaway fish on its own, small peas, pasty on its own & cheesy chip. Wind your neck in. Seen bigger fish fingers. The photos provided on Facebook by them do not represent the portions or quality you get.

Ordered twice out of here and twice order was wrong ... ordered through just eat , so either a breakdown in communication or no one knows what goes in their suppers.. 2nd and last time I'll order from there.

My other half and I dined here today..1st time and would highly recommended.. Fish not overly big but delicious and perfectly cooked with a beautiful bubbly crispy batter, and chips amazing. Not one single drop of grease on either of our plates. Service was pleasant, fast and food piping hot, and not anymore expensive than any other sit in.

I've loved it for nearly 50 years.

I was in Beatties this afternoon. On arrival we could see the sitting area where we sat, the table area was filthy as was the seat, with food stuck to the seat. It doesn't tske much effort for the staff to clean the sitting area after each customer snd wipe the menus of the grease. I'd a fish supper and my mate had a cheeseburger and chips & his son had a hot dog and chips. The fish was half the size compared to the last time I ate in Beatties, snd very skimpy in regards to the fillet of fish that i ate today compared to last time. The chips were coated in grease, as a head chef by trade, id recommend you change the fat in the fritcher more regularly, as there was a coating on the chip's that hss left a funny taste in my mouth. My mate cheeseburger burger arrived with plastic cheese instead of real cheese, and for the price of the cheeseburger, I'd expect it to be reall cheese. I won't be back because of the poor hygiene in the stitting area. Good Hygiene always has to come first always in hospitality, which beatties don't know how to keep ontop of. 🤢

Dined in everything is 5p extra to eat in. instead of buying a fish supper buy a fish then a plate of chips you will get considerably more. All in all its a nice place to eat but very expensive. All chippies every year put their prices up when they buy so called New potatoes when they go back to the old potatoes their prices do not revert back again.

Beatties Shankill Chippy absolutely changed my life. After a single gravy chip I am now a billionaire with wings. 40/10

Called into the shop and was left standing because the girls who work in the place were too busy yacking and talking to each other at the back of the shop, not paying attention to the front of the shop for customers, the place was empty and they weren't even busy. So I just left and went to another wee chippy up the road. Very poor quality of staff it would seem, manager might want to get his/her finger out and have a word with the girls.

Had family visiting and they fancied fish and chips. Decided to try my childhood chippy. Often a dangerous thing when you’re no longer living in the area as there’s a big risk your memories won’t match the current reality. After all at almost 60 years old Beattie’s may be past her prime. Arrived and got a booth, table service was quick and pleasant. Placed our order cod supper with peas, curry sauce on the side and mugs of tea. Food arrived looking fantastic, even better it tasted as good as it looked. More than lived up to my memories. Impressed our visitors no end. Beattie’s still serving great fish and chips.

Been eating here since I was a child back in the 1970s so always visit when back in Belfast. Traditional Fish and Chips and a wonderful Ulster Fry. Large portions and cheap for what you receive. I would thoroughly recommend.

Staff friendly, and food was great, kids enjoyed theirs and got plenty for a kids meal.

Placed order for delivery from this company some 63 minutes later phone and was told it had just gone. Waited for a further 20 minutes to have to phone again and told they would contact the driver and ring me back . Call somewhat like delivery never came and 1 hour and 50 minutes later driver came to door. I could walk it to shop in 30 minutes poor poor service.

Chicken wrap had to be binned as I cant eat tomatoes and asked for none. No drink came. Got 4fillets paid 4 on the bone chicken. Shame pure gutted.

Great to have this place on Just Eat. Always loved going into Beatties when I was younger. As usual food is fantastic, don’t have a bad word to say

Went to beatties today,my son wanted the sausage and chips special for lunch,when he asked And Even offered to pay extra to get Battered sausages instead, the manager refused point blank.

Everything was cooked fresh, service was good. Really made to feel welcome. I would highly recommend.

Decided to try this place out of the blue after having so many bad chippys in belfast and was super surprised by how good it was! We ordered a chicken burger, battered cod, chip and onion rings and it was all really nice, not super greasy - just a little which I can deal with. The taco dip was great too but the curry sauce was a little odd, like it was too sweet or something. Definitely try here if you live nearby, prices are cheap too

We were visiting friends in Newtownards for our anniversary who took us to beatties to try their famous pasties and they did not disappoint at all

Me & my husband visited here in Monday I had a chip & he ordered a large fry, to us a fry is shallow fried not deep fried the potato bread & soda were hard you could have broke a tooth but all we could taste was grease

Wraps or southern fried chicken pieces are you favourite. Have to wait a bit because it's cooked to order. I don't like the seating. Very uncomfortable. Also do not like their Ulster fry. One of the worst.

I recently visited Beatties and I’m happy to say that it is still as good as it was 15 years ago when I regularly ate there as a student in Belfast. Beatties service great fish and chips, and the portions are huge! It brought back a lot of tasty memories!!

Gougons were nice chips had a funny taste cold and pale. Didnt mind that it came early.

Order was placed at 4.10 never came until 5.40 then on arrival there was an item missing so rang them back explained to which I was told they'd send another which then never came until just after 6.30!! Don't get me wrong some times there food is great but this is twice now we have had delivery and to say it was acceptable is an understatement very disappointed

My chips were all the left over crispy ones seemed reheated and very dry the goujons were over cooked the actual chicken was as hard as the batter. Not pleased at all

Bought fish and chips out of beatties today walked home and have to say was really dissapointed chips rock solid hard couldn eat them the the fish was dripping in grease its not the first ive eaten in here and chips wete like this i defently will not be back again totally a waste of money all went straight into the bin

used to be brilliant just keeps getting worse and worse now food is late, greasy and not worth paying for. customer service isn't to good when you eat in either.

used to go to Beatties as a child when I lived in Belfast then I moved to Bangor. For quite few years now have been taking my eldest granddaughter to Beatties and we love it, best fish and chips ever still after all these years

The chips was freezing the chicken was greasey the paper was soaking and falling apart cause how long it must have been sitting in the bag I ordered it at 1:25pm and it didn't come until 3:15pm absolute disgrace will never order from here again

Delivery was estimated at 16:45 restaurant added 10 mins on and still no sign of it at 18:00 so had to phone (for the 3rd time after wondering what was taking so long) & cancel my order.

I usually order from here about twice a week, sometimes I don't. It I do spend a good amount of money when I do order bar this time. I was disappointed as my chip wasn't in the bag I also got a drink that was wrong I didn't realise the drink wasn't right until after I phoned but I didn't want to phone back as the 1st time I rang the second girl that came on the phone asked me if I ordered the chip the details of my order are on the docket as I know you get two with the just eat app then as I was asking for a garlic dip the call was disconnected by the girl on the phone so I had to call back again. I love the food from here but the service is not what I expected.

I eat out of here on a regular basis and the food is amazing, I highly recommend the taco chips or the chicken this place serves but everything on the menu is AMAZING, the staff are always so friendly and happy to help, the chippy is very clean and the sit in tables are also very well maintained and tidy, the interior of the restaurant is also really nice and it gives you a real feel to a fish and chip chop 🍟🍔

Took an hour and a half for the delivery and the food was freezing.

Only problem was ordered curry sauce on one of the kids meals and didn't get it.
