Have been in many times, lunch and dinner and finally have remembered to review! Absolutely my favourite place in Belfast to go, it is not pretentious, perfect combination of relaxation and style. The staff are so well trained, an absolute delight, when you walk in, you feel at home, welcomed with smiles and a nothing to big or too small attitude. Drinks come quickly, as does the perfect amount of conversation, hilarious yet professional manner. The menu is perfect, the same chef team from Beatrice really is behind it! I had the chicken and prawn Thai curry, exquisite combination of beautiful flavours! I did not want it to end. And their new cheesecake is something else, was nearly licking the plate. This place deserves to be so much busier than it is, but I'll be back again and again and again, stay true to yourself Buskers, you are absolutely killing it and we tell everyone we get the chance to. See you at Christmas!!

Looking for some delicious vegetarian and vegan food? Try Buskers restaurant, university Avenue, Belfast (previously known as Beatrice Kennedy's). They have a vegetarian menu and are in the process of compiling a vegan one. The chef was lovely and asked what we would like so he could see if he could rustle it up. My friend Donna, who is vegan, said anything but a stir-fry so he offered a number of alternatives, which were all original. Donna asked for a surprise, which is exactly what we got! There was broccoli tempura on couscous with ? Aubergine salad and then sweet and sour aubergine with sweet potato and ? Parsnip crisps. There was a tomato and red onion and pesto salad and a devine Thai salad. I had the vegetarian Thai curry. All the food was amazing, and the chef and staff were so accommodating and friendly. The decor and atmosphere is also fabulous. This restaurant is a hidden gem and not to be missed. If you are a vegan, ring ahead to give some notice to give chef time to work his magic. Ps. Cocktails were amazing too.

Belfast has some terrific eating places and I hadn't got round to this one until now. I feel I've missed out. We were a party of ten and in a relaxed mood so the first priority was cocktails. With names based on rock stars they were all good and as we sipped I read the menu. One line stood out it said something along the lines of "If you need anything ask one of our lovely servers."That was raising expectations I thought - but the staff were delightful. Although under some pressure due to being down a couple of members I was very impressed when our various requests were treated with efficiency and something more - a really welcoming attitude to children and adults alike.First courses arrived, the portions are not mean, and all of us were happy with our choices. Mains were similarly generous and declared excellent by all. When we were joined by three more guests who orders only starters it wasn't a problem. The dessert menu didn't look extensive and most of us opted for the sticky toffee pudding, which was really a cake, moist, delicious and huge. The cheeseboard was superb.Total bill was well within expectations and the "lovely servers" bade us farewell with the same smiles that welcomed us a couple of hours earlier.

We just had time to eat before going to the cinema, and the waitress immediately took that on board. She was quick at taking our order and bringing everything, but was friendly and chatty about our visit to Belfast. The Goats Cheese tartlet was so tasty and the chutney was an excellent partner to the cheese. The slow braised beef for the main course was so generous and so well cooked. This place was recommended to us by a friend and we can completely appreciate why. What a lovely meal. The staff were lovely - the restaurant itself is really stylish and the food was excellent. The meal was absolutely lovely, homemade soup of the day, white onion and broccoli was wonderful. The star of the show without question was the chefs homemade wholemeal bread muffin to accompany the soup - absolute heaven! I had the fish of the day, a beautifully cooked piece of hake with very innovative curried chickpea croquettes and red pepper sauce accompaniment, and the Buskers burger was excellent. The desert menu looked absolutely wonderful - we were just kicking ourselves we had no room to try! The staff were so attentive, relaxed, fun atmosphere. It was a pleasure to watch them work as the girls take such pride in what they do, working so hard on a busy Saturday night without losing a sense of fun/support for one another. Must also say the barman was a star - what an effort! He kept that bar running ship shape without question! Great staff/team all round. Was recommended to us, we'll be recommending to everyone!!

We walked in without a reservation, and were immediately seated by a member of staff at a table at the rear of the resteraunt opposite the serving hatch. After taking our drink order the waitress apologised that the fish order had not been delivered so all the fish items on the menu were off. Luckily this led us to order a Caesar and crispy duck salads to start. They arrived and myself and my wife would happily have ate them again as main courses they were so tasty. The dishes were quickly removed and our main course of slow cooked brisket, gravy, mash, pickled red cabbage, turnip and parsnip arrived. We were both delighted each part was were perfectly cooked and complemented the other parts brilliantly. The friendly banter with the young chief added to the excellent meal. Why do other resteraunts make this so difficult, good ingredients, combined properly, cooked well and served by friendly attentive staff. It is not rocket science. The price for this including drinks and a ten percent tip was just over £50 well worth it and highly recommended.

My family and I came over from Liverpool and met up with some friends. Not booking a place meant it was hard to find somewhere to accommodate 10, until finding buskers. We were pleasantly surprised when seeing the menu, which was small yet diverse. I had the BBQ chicken wings and the crab linguine, both of which tastes fantastic. Being split between 2 booths also meant we had a waiter for each table, both of which were quick and pleasant. All good and drinks were reasonably priced for the quality! Would definitely come back to this place and recommend it to anyone visiting this end of Belfast.

I LOVED Beatrice Kennedys but now that it's gone, Buskers is like it's lively younger brother. A lot trendier, and s totally different feel.I liked the decor inside. The bar has moved from the very back to the front room, on one side. Lovely modern white tiling. Love the bare bulb industrial style lighting. Love the new wooden booth seating in the back (conservatory roof) room. I had the soup of the day with a wheaten bread bun as a starter which was lovely. My prawn curry was just ok but it was overly warm (temperature, not spice). Desserts choices were a major disappointment as it was all very dairy based and I am not a fan of dairy - I wanted something chocolatey but the only chocolate option was a milkshake made with your choice of chocolate bar ... Dairy = Not my thing. Chocolate ice cream mentioned on the menu wasn't even available when we asked. I had sticky toffee pudding as a last resort which was like an island of sponge in a bowl of sauce. Tasty but OTT.Our waiter was fantastic. Really suited to the hospitality industry as he tolerated well my husbands hopeless attempts to get the chef to make something else for dessert. My husband should have known better! Our waiter gave me a wrapped up wheaten bread bun with a lit candle once he realised we were eating out that night for my birthday. He even wrapped it up for us to take home.Toilets (upstairs, next to the function room for private parties) were clean and modern.I'd return again to Buskers but will wait until their dessert menu gets a revamp, if that ever happens. Please, please add something chocolatey (like cake), or cheesecake, or banoffee. Not everyone likes dairy. My husband would have loved a tiramisu. None of the usual suspects appear on Buskers desserts menu.

It surpassed our expections and is the best meal we've had in Ireland in our 4 days here. Outstanding mussels, brisket, and fish of the day, which was hake. My partner had the beef brisket and I had a three dish tapas....chickpea balls, curried and coconut chicken and spicy prawns. All our food was amazing and portions quite large...even tapas. You could tell that the thai prawn curry, that I'd ordered, was expertly made; there were amazing flavours in every bite. The lemongrass came through beautifully. Wasn't sure about the addition of tomato and sweet potato as described in the menu, but it worked perfectly. I was told the head chef was the same person as in Beatrice Kenendy's when I was booking, and tasting the food easily confirmed this. The entire format of the restaurant has totally changed. The opening hours, the decor, and the theme (which is now casual dining). Personally, I much preferred the darker, more intimate former restaurant. I liked the little touches like the home-made wheaten bread & butter delivered to your table before your food came. I would make the effort to return for a quick breakfast or lunch at some stage, not sure if I'd be tempted for dinner again. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Came here at the end of Feb for our 1 year anniversary. Food was great- if I were to nit pick there were a good few empty shells in our mussels to start and the steak was more medium than medium rare but my crab linguine was absolutely gorgeous (lovely and garlicky) and the chips were amazing. Good drink selection too :) I had checked us in on Facebook and didnt realise the manager would see it and she brought us an anniversary slate with a wee dessert :) really nice touch and the thoughtfulness was much appreciated. The decor is really interesting and the handing bulbs over the booths create great mood lighting. Will def be back!

My husband and I along with two friends visited Buskers on Saturday 20th Feb, we reserved a table for 8.30, it was quite busy, really nice stylish decor, back ground music was great, not too loud, but loud enough for it to create a lively atmosphere! Between the four of us we tried the muscles, duck, sirloin steaks and sticky toffee pudding!! OMG the food was delicious, steaks cooked to perfection (3 med/rare and one medium) all just perfect!! We all had a good few drinks, including several vodka n lemonades, bottle of red wine, few beers n orange juice! The meal came to £124 for 4 people - just over £30 per head, all had 2 courses plus plenty of drinks - given the quality of the food, great atmosphere, I felt this was very reasonable!! We visited Belfast from Newcastle Upon Tyne and had an amazing weekend, I would absolutely recommend buskers restaurant to anyone who wants a nice meal, with great atmosphere!! Couldn't fault a thing! Thanks Buskers!!

We had a wonderful private birthday party upstairs for about 20 people with brilliant live music, great service and delicious food. The whole restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff are just so friendly and helpful. They also have a few great veggie options available and the outdoor space is lovely.

One of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a while. We booked for a Friday night and were greeted with some incredible foods and atmosphere. The Music playing was chilled rock, which suits the misses and I perfectly plus they had my favourite starter and mains on the menu - Caesar salad & a beautiful burger. The cocktail menu and beer menu was extensive and allowed us to exit the restaurant half juiced - maybe thats why we liked it so much. We're planning to call down again soon :)

Visited here as before cinema date and on first impressions it felt underwhelming and well, a bit grubby!food was drab, with floppy, slimy chi ken wings and the chowder made me a little nervous!however there was a nice atmosphere and we were here early evening, i got the feeling that it would have been more lively later. I wouldn't be back for dinner but may call in for a drink in the evening.

I wenty to Buskers with a few friends recently and can't praise the restaurant high enough! The crab linguine was impeccable, so fresh and perfectly sized portion. (accompanied with a generous garlic baguette- of course). Aslo tried my friend's burger which was so so great- get the sweet potato fries! If the food wasn't impressive enough, the atmosphere alone makes buskers worth the visit. Sophisticated lighting & decor, great drinks and the staff were so hospitable. Nothing was too small or too big an ask, they were very accommodating, attentive and made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. Would highly recommend going to everyone, perfect location for heading into town after or why not stay and make a night of it!

My wife and I loved everything about Beatrice Kennedys so a bit apprehensive about what Buskers had to offer. Even catching up with a friend on a cold Tuesday night in February it delivered at every level. Not fine dining as BKs but doesn't claim to be and as a result it's much easier on the pocket! Spoilt for choice with a wide ranging menu to suit most tastes. We enjoyed delicious well cooked and presented food and quality wine at a very affordable price in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Friendly and efficient service with good background music to match. Couldn't ask for more - top marks. With so much to offer it really is well worth a visit. Can't wait to return!

My partner and I came here on Saturday night after finding our usual restaurant queued out past the door. We were not disappointed. We were quickly shown to a table upstairs, but within half an hour the restaurant was packed (always a good sign). The food was excellent, the staff were pleasant and attentive and the atmosphere was good. I had the duck and my partner had the sirloin and both were well presented, tasty and plentiful. We had a nice bottle of red and a couple of Irish coffees and found the price to be reasonable. I understand the restaurant is not that long open, so hopefully it will continue to flourish.

Many interesting items on the menu. We ordered scampi and seafood pie. The scampi was battered well with a nice flavour and evidently caught locally. I thought the seafood pie was under seasoned and had to add quite a bit of salt to enjiy the taste. No beer on Tao but a selection if bottled beer. Staff and service was good and a nice atmosphere.

We've dined here on previous occasions, and it very much felt like an occasion restaurant. It was pricey but so worth it, the food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. We decided to try it out under the new management, who has actually worked there behind the scenes for many years. Little bit more pocket friendly, a tad more casual (not a bad thing!) and equally fabulous food. Cocktails are lovely, duck was delicious. We had the same pudding we had previously- hasn't changed, as brilliant as ever. Try the toffee pudding!

There was once a restaurant in Belfast called Beatrice Kennedy, it was what might be termed 'fine dining' the type of restaurant that stood out due to the menu, standard of the food, the service and the ambience. It was the type of restaurant you would go to for birthdays, anniverseries or to impress a new beau. In short it was the best restaurant in Belfast in my opinion.Times change and Beatrice Kennedy is gone, replaced by Buskers. And sadly its not a change for the better. Buskers is a bog standard, mid price, same menu restaurant that Belfast has in abandance. If you fancy caeser salad or chicken wings as a starter and a burger (Lamb or beef) as a main you are in luck. There is crab claw meat linguinne and Portavogie scampie with fries but nothing that stands out. The better half had said caesar salad as a starter, limp lettace, not nice. I had the chicken wings with ' blue cheese dip and celery'. The wings were ok, there was 1 small celery stick about 2 inces long and the blue cheese dip left a nasty burning taste on the back of my throat. So far, so bad.For mains we both ordered the parmesana chicken with tomato ragou. I have ordered parmesana chicken before and it is normally coated in a parmesan crust. This one was a chicken breast covered in a non descript tomato sauce. We ordered garlic bread as a side, it arrived as we had nearly finished the main. It was the garlic bread that showed how far Buskers is from what Beatrice Kennedy was, it was the type you buy from from the chiller shelf in a supermarket and pop in the oven in the plastic wrapper. To be fair to the staff they removed this from the bill.We didnt look at the dessert menu, we just wanted to leave such was the disappointment of the Buskers experience. If you were once a Beatrice Kennedy regular I would not recommend you go to Buskers. If you want to eat what is offered in lots of other places in the city then by all means go ahead.Personally I wont be back or recommending Buskers the way the I would have urged uou to try ins former incarnation

We had been regulars at Beatrice Kennedy's -Buskers previous name for many years The restaurant has the same owner as before. Beatrice Kennedy's had a well deserved reputation for quality food and a high level of service. We ate at Buskers a few days prior to Xmas. We shared a starter of chicken wings that were ok as chicken wings are generally anywhere My main course was chicken Parmesan -which was a blob of dense and tough unappetising ingredients My wife choose Scampi after being assured it was homemade. Her served Scampi included pieces of over fried batter devoid of fillings. One sure way of knowing if Scampi is not freshly made is when the cook pops in frozen "scampi" into the pan obviously not knowing the pieces are not filled with prawns. This could not happen if all freshly prepared. It tasted like packaged frozen scampi We were in a hurry as going to Crescent Arts Centre and I did complain to the waitress. She simply shrugged her shoulders .Having been long time customers I wrote to Jim McCarthy -the owner a couple of days later and did not get the courtesy of a reply .I can only assume that basically Buskers is a fast food joint hoping to pass itself off as a restaurant .

Just been for the 1st time and won't be back. I was a fan of Beatrice Kennedys in fact was my favourite restaurant in Belfast but the heart has been ripped out of it. Buskers can no way be compared to what was a wonderful restaurant. My caeser salad was made with lymph lettuce and the chicken dish we had was tasteless. I knew it was gonna be bad as soon as I looked at the menu. They have also destroyed the decor.Amy Whinehouse mural doesnt do anything for ambience. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Don't know where I am gonna go in the future. Nowhere compared with Beatrice Kennedys before so where are we gonna go now. Avoid at all costs.

I went here at the weekend with all my family (age range 4 - 76) for my birthday dinner. I thought the quirky feel of this restaurant may not be appropriate for everyone in the party, however I was completely wrong! Everyone absolutely loved their food and liked how different the restaurant was. At the beginning when we were all ordering we were told that a number of the dishes we had ordered were either discountinued or out of stock, immediately I thought I had made a big mistake choosing here. However, the staff were extremely nice about it all and we even got free starters to share between us all (I think to make up for not having dishes we wanted). This was a lovely surprise and totally changed the atmosphere. I would describe the food as mostly American in style and big portions but there is something there for everyone if you are not in to that type of food. For example my dad had seafood pie and I had half a duck with orange sauce and garlic potatoes. I am very fussy about bones in my food so the chef kindly removed these for me with no fuss whatsoever. We all really enjoyed our evening, the food was amazing quality and we would all go back! Thanks Buskers! P.s. The golden oldie music being played made it all the better!

Went along on New Years eve for a bite to eat and relax. I get the idea of what Buskers is trying to do but it just didn't work.Food, OK , nothing to get excited about.Staff friendly,The music, well for a start check your "Buskers" can sing and not shout.Must be the only act I know can make The Verve and Dock of the Bay sound the same!Sorry guys, very poor.Hope it does work out but with so much competition it could be a rough road.

Love the music, decor, atmosphere and service. Buskers Restaurant also have a small dedicated vegetarian menu which is a huge plus in my opinion. I ordered the wild mushroom tagliatelle which came with a large portion of garlic bread. As always, I had to have wine with my food, so opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio. Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced with everything costing a total of just £12.75. I'm going to return very, very soon and bring my friends, family and work colleagues. I'd give Buskers a higher rating than 5 stars if I could - love it.

We went here for lunch and it was a lovely meal. Staff seated us very quickly and we were given a couple of menus to look over. My partner had ordered a chicken ceaser salad and I had ordered a cheese and tomato toastie. Food arrived quite promptly which wasn't too surprising considering what we had ordered. The toastie came with salad and coleslaw however I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw. Personally, it was too creamy. My partner said that he has enjoyed his salad, but it could have done with more olives and chicken. Overall, it was an average portion of food. Staff were friendly enough and the food wasn't overly expensive.
