Bears Paw in Cheshire West and Chester

The service was a bit slow, but no worse than you would expect on a Saturday afternoon and the fact it was sunny didn't help them either with the amount of people there, but the drinks were reasonably priced and all came in the proper glasses which doesn't always happen at other places.

Service, food, and beer were all top-notch, still the excellent same.

Love the atmosphere in here.... And outside even though it was blowing a gale!! (no stars for food as we didn't have any)

Popped in for a meal. Cisy atmosphere, with excellent service, good food, with good prices. Parking close by, and cheap. Would recommend. And go again.

Our LGBT Walking group Outdoor lads recently visited here and sadly we're left a little disappointed on multiple things. Service was very slow 40 mins for a cuppa. Unfizzy cola which they did change for us but sadly same issue after something was off. My meal was fine but other members expressed disappointment. Some facilities were out of order. Parking was great. And staff were polite and pleasant. Sadly just odd issues left us abit meh.. the place was busy but layout walking to bar as you walk in from back was like walking over people bit cramped. Sadly one or two said they wouldn't attend again.

Popped in with the kids on a walk, atmosphere and service was okay. Kids food and sharing tacos were not the best and seating outside was dirty and full of glasses. This was early on in the night.

Had table booked for 1pm. Was full with people watching football. Got table next to TV - not ideal. Ordered drinks on app. Had to chase after 15 mins - staff confirmed but not printed. Ordered food on app - waited 45 mins! Mixed grills were smaller than typical for price. 1 (tiny - 2in per side, square, <1in thick) "steak" was literally just fat/gristle. See photo. All that's missing from what was there is a bit of flavour. Chicken was dry. Gammon was ok. Best thing was peppercorn sauce which we had to pay extra for. All in all very disappointing visit. Won't be recommending, or visiting again. Staff (2) were friendly enough but seemed over worked for number of customers. One was constant on bar, other switching between serving drinks and food.

I visited for lunch with family today, we were all very disappointed, the food was terrible, very dry and by the time we were given cutlery the food was cold. The service was very poor. We actually went to sample the food with a veiw to booking a christmas family meal for 25 guests (so glad we did now). It is such a shame as the pub itself is beautiful

I haven’t been in the Bears Paw for years as I live away now but I called to see my sister this week and dropped in for a quick drink in my way through. I don’t drink but most pubs now have a good selection of alcohol free drinks for people who don’t or can’t drink alcohol. Here it was Kopperburg or Guinness. Very poor to start with. I bought a can of Guinness zero and a bag of peanuts and was horrified to be charged £6.15. Yes, £6.15. Out of a can. You can buy four for £4 in the supermarket so that’s at least a 500% mark up. I won’t go there again.

Met a friend here - first time in probably 20 years that I've been here. Staff were a little slow to response and serve, but friendly enough. Nice traditional old pub interior and atmosphere. Food pretty nice.

Don’t go here they have RATS I’ve heard staff talking about it and apparently they have had them since the end of 2023 don’t go there it’s absolutely disgusting not even sorting it either never going here again

Well where to start… I will NEVER be returning. I hired the barn for my party and I have never had such a stressful and unorganised event and it’s all down to the venue. When I booked 5 months in advance I was told I was allowed to use their sound equipment. The speakers cut out constantly and when I asked two of their staff members they told me it’s “not been working for ages” and it’s “very temperamental”. I’m so annoyed that they filled me with confidence because my DJ could have brought her equipment but with it being a small room they said an iPad would be fine to use with their speakers. I then spoke to the manager he said there’s never been a issue with it and it’s not their problem. The manager Mark Gaskell was the most patronising and rudest man I have ever met. He spoke to me like I was a child and it was disgusting. From the day of booking to the actual party, trying to get in contact with anyone was IMPOSSIBLE. One lady answered and said “I’m too busy I’ll have to call you back later” I’m still waiting to hear from her!! No one knew the answer to my questions and I’d get different answers when I spoke to different people anyway! “Yes we have wifi” “no we don’t” “yes I can get an extension lead” “no we don’t have one” it was so infuriating. I will never be booking there again, which is such a shame because it’s a lovely looking place. I have rated one star because that’s the lowest it would let me!!!

Only had drinks but a really nice place

Been many times, gets very busy at times, bit overpriced. Terrible pinch point at the bar. They could move one or two tables and make it a much more comfortable experience. Food is as good as can be expected.

Atmosphere oozes out of the place. Great food and drink. Will be back!!!

On one of the coldest days of the year so far, there was no heating on anywhere in the pub. Absolutely freezing. Staff wearing thick fleece jackets was a bit of a giveaway. Cold water only in the toilets. Even the hand-driers were set to lukewarm. Food was average.

Great little place and dog friendly. We always get the dogs a chicken dinner for £2, would recommend.

This is the worse place I've ever been I totally disgusted and stunned I stud at the bar to get my tabkr I pre booked and the staff served people who had arrived after I had at the bar then the guy final serves my partner and then goes to clear us a table as it wasn't ready after waiting 10 minutes he offered us a tiny table one stool and one chair with people stood around us like they was in a night club barging us this all before we ate so we drank are drinks and went to Indian garden a few doors down and the difference was night and day with service and atmosphere totally disgrace this pub never go here ever belive me I wouldn't s3nd my dog here

Excellent food well priced. Efficiency spoy on friendly helpful staff will return again. We stayed in our motorhome overnight in the carpark. And paid in the charity box found this stop over on search for sites. Well pleased quiet night on the car park thanks Peter and Sheila

Nothing other to say but bad customer service, my pregnant partner was queuing for a drink and wash pushed out of the way by a group of girls and staff did nothing who were present at the bar, tables weren’t cleaned. Built up to be a fancy joint but the service begs to differ, locals might like it but I won’t be returning so no worries.

You lost a star because they had Cricket playing on a telly almost bigger than the pub. Just not my taste. Food and service were impeccable however, so full marks there.

Very impressed with the service from Joe and Laura. Made to feel welcome and very friendly. Took an interest in how the meal was and watched Joe help other customers who needed some extra help.Well done.

Very disappointed in todays service. My friend and I called in for a light snack. What we ordered, Gluten free (GF) sharing nachos, regular sharing nachos with pulled pork. A large lime and soda and latte. The GF nachos were all crunched up and hidden underneath the few whole ones. It was missing mozzarella and sour cream. When pointed out the was no apology. My friends latte took 15 minutes to arrive and only after reminding them. My large lime and soda was only a small. My friends food was not available and her second choice wasn’t available either but took her money at the till. Eventually her third choice was available a plain jacket potato, she needed food due to diabetes. Service wasn’t great. I must add that on previous visits service and food was fabulous.

Always good here been going for years

Went for Sunday lunch with my partner. Both our meals had beef like an old leather boot, couldn't chew it..veg reheated frozen and quite cold. Roaster's black eyed. Did tell staff it was disgusting and meals wasted but no refund/response. Wouldn't recommend

I haven't personally had the food but I've been with friends who have eaten while I was with them and the food looked amazing. Only 2 stars for service due to recent new staff - have asked one particular member of staff for a Real Cider twice now and she laughed at me thinking I was joking. Then proceeded to stare at me like I was going to order something else. Sad really as the usual staff I've dealt with are very good with orders. Atmosphere you can't go wrong with. Live music on certain days, sports events streamed, never a bad person in there (when I've visited anyways). Manager is great and have spoken to him many a time.

Went to Frod- toberfest at Bears Paw. What an amazing event. Family oriented, good value for money and great to see all local businesses involved. Well done to Mark & staff for another fantastic event.

Very friendly pub with a wide range of food and drinks on offer. Plenty of space inside and out. The service was quick and the food hot and tasty.

Absolutely brilliant. We hired the barn at the back for a 30th party. Joe and the staff were fab and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend!!

Excellent friendly staff just concerned due to missing menu items that’s are the staple of pub food, menu items missing was steak and ale pie and garlic bread. Visited the restaurant on a Wednesday night no excuses, great service just lacking in staple food items.

No pies and no garlic bread but replaced with extra salad with no option for other side or choice or informed that they had none. Staff were friendly but food wasn’t up to scratch and more options for lack of food available would’ve been nice....

Friendly staff, they had no rump steak, but they helped with an alternative solution to a mixed grill. Nice pub and outdoor seating.

Stopped in for a mixed grill, wife had a lasagne. Beautiful authentic pub, great friendly staff. The food....oh..my..god .. best mixed grill I've had. So tasty, perfectly cooked Cannot fault anything...10/10
