Beach Cafe in Scarborough

Excellent location and amazing view. Food is excellent and generous portions, but be careful with timing of lunch as they may run out near closing time due to high demand on busy days. There's a minimum for card payments so make sure to have some cash in pocket if you just need an ice lolly :) Very nice and friendly staff, great menu and superb location.

Been going monthly all season. Breakfast is consistently brilliant and great value. Lovely quiet mornings this time of year (oct). Closes soon for end of season. Very friendly staff. Cash only which catches people out.

Did not get chance to eat here. Only took cash . Shame as not many people carry cash nowadays? We were disopoimted as myself ,husband and dog were going to eat here for breakfast every day of our 14day stay . But looked a nice place .

Lovely cafe - family of 5 and a small pooch. Full English breakfast and cups of tea were perfect . We walked from The Bay Filey along the beach - the beach was lovely - a little steep up and down to get to for our mum who was 90 as no handrail and the pebbles were a bit slippy but we made it and it was worth it ! Easy to get to by car and a big open car park nearby. Great views.

Absolute treat.. reasonably priced breakfast..served quickly..vege choice too.. 5 of us but they managed to get all the meals ready together.. this was our 2nd visit, we had cake and drinks here last week..I parked at the top, was allowed to bring my elderly parents down and back up in the car..20p to use carpark loos, spotless.. Stunning views from this area and the cafe, well worth a visit..lovely experience

I used to love coming to this place, no matter what the weather. You could sit inside on a stormy day and admire the view and eat facing a breathtaking view. The breakfast isn't spectacular and isn't the greatest value but the service was friendly. Today, my opinion was changed dramatically! I asked if they had started to serve food inside again but they replied that they haven't since COVID, I shrugged my shoulder and expressed my disappointment. After I'd collected my drinks, I left them with my partner and asked at the serving hatch for the toilet key. They refused to give it to me, stating that they haven't let the public use the toilet again, since COVID. I have used the toilet there since COVID. The woman joked that I should go up the hill and use the 20p a go portakabins. I was too embarrassed at this point to state that I needed the toilet URGENTLY for fear of wetting myself , as I have a medical condition and didnt feel the need to disclose that. I then had no choice but to find a hidden spot and 'pee', but the woman serving me was obviously watching my movements and shouted up at me that I should not be doing that in public (I was in a sheltered spot away from public view), which I wouldn't have needed to if I had been given the key. Utterly humiliating and the breakfast certainly wasn't worth £15 for the food and two drinks.

Great on a sunny day to be outside with the unspoilt view of the bay. Menu basic but sufficient for most tastes. The scone seemed fresh and tasty. Affordable, too, considering this is the only catering facility along the hunmanby gap stretch of beach so no other competition. Even on a weekday it was busy with large queues, but the service was swift and once our order was taken, it was ready to collect within 5 minutes. We would definitely drop by again if passing, but only weather permitting.

Faby position , let down by instant coffee , couldn’t drink it , was like dishwater . You need to buy a proper coffee machine and up your game

Little gem of a place discovered on a leisurely walk down Filey beach towards Reighton. Access from beach is up a steep incline but worth the effort. Decent menu and lovely food and very reasonable prices. Lovely setting with plenty of tables and welcomes dogs. Plenty of people there on our visit so clearly has a great and well deserved reputation

Beautiful location. Excellent value. Authentic beach cafe serving traditional food. Plenty choice but limited vegan options. Ask the staff if you need something special - they are very helpful.

Visited after I had walked the dogs on the beach. Very friendly and quick service. Had a chip butty and coffee total £4.50 , hidden little gem . Worth a visit if in the area.

What a brilliant hidden gem of a place. We found it by chance looking on the map for somewhere different not in town. And we are so pleased we did. Firstly the views there are beautiful and next to it is a very large carpark with awesome staff. The food is wonderful and get this, it doesn't cost the earth.! Infact its the best value we have seen in a long time. Add to all that very friendly staff and you have a wonderful place to visit, eat and relax. Oh and its Dog friendly too. Thankyou and see you again soon.

Efficient, well priced, great location, clean

Whilst staying in S'boro for a week I definitely wanted to visit H-Gap and the famous beach cafe. And, as far as I'm concerned this place is the best of Yorkshire: sound folk serving proper food at decent prizes. And, to top it off, a first class beach to gaze upon. We spent the day here, and my wife found her first ever fossil - apart from me that it! We shall return!

Good food, reasonable prices however the toilets are still closed - you ave to use the car park toilets which are not free. They are also u a massive hill (not good if you have imited mobiity)Hmmmmm I smell a rat, I don't think I'm going to catch Covid from a toilet (I want to pee in it not smear my hands all over it).Is itbecause they won't have o clean it if it's not in use? Laziness.

Great location bust but hard working staff

We are local to Filey and visit this cafe every time we take a walk on the beach with the dogs. Before Covid lockdown the baking was exceptional quality, always tasty and fresh, also larger portions than they are this year, 2021. Every visit we have made lately the baking is poor quality, small portions, and not fresh - what happened to the traditional good quality baking? Last time we ordered a piece of Rocky Road and it was bland, hardly any traditional Rocky Road ingredients and looked dry and unappetising. The bacon and egg sandwiches are also sometimes over cooked, but most of the time still good and tasty. The baking side of the Cafe definitely needs addressing and bringing back up to the pre-Covid standards. Visitors also need the toilets re-opening. The view and setting is amazing.

Only discovered this lovely spot the other day. overwhelmed by the location - just perfect and impressed with the thought the owners have put in , with outdoor seating on different levels to enjoy the views, plants etc. We had warm pear and raspberry pie with ice cream and mugs of tea. Delicious. Staff very friendly. Have to park above in car park and toilets there. Staff at the car park also very friendly. Will be back.

It was OK, but nothing special. There is no inside seating at present - don't know if this is the norm, but guess they may keep it this way judging by the lack of room inside. As others have commented, the loos were closed and there was nowhere to wash hands; we were parked in the car park just up the hill so it wasn't too much of an issue for us to use those facilities. Breakfast was OK, but no G/F bread available for toast or such as a bacon buttie, and it's all served up in a box - good plan, but it doesn't really work with sloppy baked beans etc running into the box. Coffee was awful. I would really recommend ditching the full breakfast and offering a variety of butties/filled rolls - including G/F - and getting a decent coffee machine.

Brilliant setting with fast service could have stayed there all day!

After all the kilometres we walked to get there, so pleased they were open, however, outside only seating and the toilets were closed as well! Not helpful when you have a full bladder and have another 5 km to walk to get to the next free, public toilets.

Called here last week and got breakfast in a box, sat outside as we could not go inside due to covid restrictions (its only small). The food was very nice and the views are fantastic. Just be aware that to get to it you have to park at the top of a hill and walk down to it (its quite steep). At the top of the hill is a carpark (attended) costing a couple of pounds. On the carpark are portable toilets 20p. All in all I would not take a wheelchair down but if you take your time coming back up the road its easy enough.

Found this place as walking down the beach. Lovely little place for a pit stop. Had ice-creams but noticed they did hot meals, cooked breakfast. Seating areas overlooking the beach.

We only had a coffee but the ladies were lovely & l must say the toilets were the cleanest I've used in a very long time. 5*

No inside seating but lots of outdoor picnic tables on tiered levels. Plenty of dog bowls (old margarine tubs) with milk bottles of water by the collection point so you can fill the bowls yourself. The food is all home made and was brilliant, I can personally recommend the Malteser cheesecake. It's a little climb up the slope to the cafe but that's part of the attraction as you then have great views of the beach.

Parked near Beach cafe at Humanby gap £5 all day, cafe ok but toilets out of order, some portaloos at parking cost 20p, beach fantastic one of the best we've been on, walked to Reighton sands to Beach cafe, Costa coffee ok & loo was open.

Good for what it is. A single serving of ice cream is two scoops so that is nice:) but I asked for a Callipo and got a Rowntrees push-up was quite disappointed. To use toilet have to pay 20p but it’s worth it because they are the only toilet and they are kept quite nice :)

My wife and I, plus dog have visited Beach Cafe on many occasions as we walk from Filey for breakfast. The full breakfast is a good standard and at £5 is reasonable and the views are great. What's really disappointing and is that after a long walk there is no where to wash our hands and use a toilet. Surely this is a breach of health & safety, especially as we recover from a pandemic. Customers expect this basic facility and the sign outside the cafe requesting people to use the toilet facility up the hill to the car park for 20p is unacceptable.P.S. the instant coffee is very poor.

MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD! I would recommend the Victoria Sponge or White Choc and raspberry cheese cake. They offer breakfast in a box or cream tea sets perfect for picnics. The views and outside seating are the cherry on top. The friendliest, kindest staff in the whole of North Yorkshire ❤️❤️❤️

A lovely scenic spot on a sunny day, with a series of decks descending beneath the cafe building. Nice snack food, good drinks, very reasonable ££ and friendly. Just below the car park and on the route to the beach, from where there's a great 6-mile-round beach walk to lovely Filey for top quality fish & chips. Pics 1&2 are the view north and south from the lower deck.

Often eat here whenever I go for a dog walk or after a walk with the other Westie walkers ,…. Firstly need to say I pressed on the guys review below so I could comment on it but it recorded me as having said I liked it so my apologies as I wanted to ask him which place he had had his breakfast in because that’s not my experience at all I look forward to my brekkie in a box always nicely cooked and plentiful. The Victoria Sponge is lovely too and the roasties are nice ! Obviously excellent views but what a lovely relaxing beach vibe the owners have created in this rustic cafe ,… never change it’s just perfect :) !

Good tea and coffee but in takeaway paper cups.Nice bacon but wish they had not soaked the bread cake in the fat they cooked the bacon in .!Would have preferred some butter on the bread or just plain bread .Funny taste of fat .

What can i say about this place. Bloody amazing. While on a call out to an injured seal at the Gap ( with BDMLR as Marine Mammal Medics ) , this lovely lady sorted us a cuppa and cake out even though they were packing up. Lovely cuppa and home made Bakewell tart. Well place cafe to sit and enjoy a snack, cuppa, ice cream or whatever takes your fancy. The views are stunning too. Lots of seating outside so no worries with the current situation. Spaced out well with a lovely table arrangement too. Gorgeous flower baskets and ornaments compliment the already beautiful scenery. Staff are well manner, polite and couldnt help us enough. Well worth a visit . Prices are great. Good value and descent .... ok bloody yummy food . They have loads of stuff you can buy .. beach goods, balls, hoops bucket and spades etc all good value. We can't wait to be back again. Hopefully not with a seal call out though. X

Standard food at reasonable prices. Had to wait about 15 mins in the queue and 20 mins for it to be bagged up. £12 for a toasty, 2 sandwiches and a chip butty and they excepted card. Unfortunately my butty had moldy bread, I am sure they would have sorted it but I had already walked back to the Bay Filey ( about 20mins). I would go again if I was in the area as the view's of the bay are amazing but would probably stick to a coffee and cake.

Staff were pleasant but sorry to say the food and drink was very poor. Soggy sausage rolls, very dry cake, over stewed tea and chocolate milkshake that didn't taste of chocolate.
