Bay View Bar & Thai Dining in Swansea

We were pleased to get our table for four, at this busy and welcoming hostelry. A very dog friendly space, with helpful and efficient staff. The menu was huge, with great choices. Some of our Thai favourites were also part of the daily specials menu too. We had a good value meal, washed down with a cool ale, and a bowl of water for the dog too. Perfect! We'll visit again...

This really is a gem. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Lovely welcoming staff.

Went for a midweek meal, when we arrived we found it very busy but found a table in the bar. We ordered our food and drinks at the bar and sat expecting a bit of a wait, as it was so busy. To our surprise the starters arrived within a couple of minutes and after we finished the starters the mains arrived shortly after. For the main course we ordered from the £7.99 menu and both our main courses were really tasty. The food and service were excellent and the place had a good atmosphere. This is a good place for a reasonably priced tasty meal.

Thai food here was incredible. Staff are great and the lunch menu is definitely worth coming here for. Live tv. Pool table and darts board. Live entertainment most nights and right next to the sea. Great place.

I came here with three of my friends on Thursday 5th October 2023 and it did not disappoint! Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of room inside, very reasonably priced menu with a fantastic choice! Food was excellent! Not only the food was outstanding but the service was too! Very friendly, polite and professional staff! Will definitely be coming back! Great place! 5 star!!

Saturday lunch 3 of us went for a first trip after being told the food was nice but dont expect a big meal for 6.95 two course. So we ordered 5 meals with a view of a tapas style lunch. 5 starters meant 10 pieces and five mains with two rice one chips and two noodles. turned out a very nice dinner not pub snack. plenty of different flavors and a nice experience. Bar prices for drinks very competitive too. Will definitely recommend and do again.

I came here to watch The Rock Project perform. I am also going here soon to perform in a Open Mic Night. I find it great that they get the audience included by doing Open Mic Nights for free every week. The crowd is also impeccable. The service and food is really good.

There is nothing “Thai” about this food. I went with the best expectations based off of reviews here but I cannot understand how we are speaking about the same restaurant. Every starter we ordered was deep fried, and not when traditionally supposed to be. The fish cakes were of some unknown, unidentifiable matter and my main entree boasted a beautiful variety of Thai herbs and flavors and ended up to be last night’s roast dinner gravy with soy sauce added. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The Thai place in the market is much superior to anything served here. Very disappointed. The thought of this meal made me nauseous all night and still does.

Fantastic Pub! We popped in for a lovely lunch while on a Sunny walk along the front. Were sorted and seated very quickly in their cool, light and airy Bar area. The food was excellent, with x2 Starters and x2 Mains for around £15-£20. The Guinness was well poured and priced too (always a good sign for me 😁) Staff were lovely, welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended

6.99 for one course, 9.99 for two courses. It's like a pub, but the pub food is Thai inspired. The food was tasty, decent portion size and arrived quickly. Very relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff. Very pleasant experience as a whole!

Great place. Wholesome ingredients and flavours. Server did her best to serve. Party at back bit noisy but we didn't mind people having fun.

All good - nothing bad - 1. staff excellent (and I mean all of them, not just one or two) - 2. food was really good and the lunchtime special was great value - 3. for those who enjoy a decent pint of bitter, I suspect you will not be disappointed - 4. dog friendly across most of the pub (not just a rubbish bit in a backroom) - highly recommended

It's a pub with a good view of the bay and tasty food at a good price.

We call to “The Bay View”, quite regularly, as the food is beyond excellent, with a traditional ale to wash it down, along with our coffee. Why go elsewhere when we have the best on our doorstep, quite reasonably priced as well. The speedy service along with the caring staff, is indeed a joy to behold. Thank you kindly everybody, we’ll no doubt be back at least once a week, along with our canine pal Enzo yea.

We ate in this Restaurant on 2 evenings during our 5 night stay, and we were not disappointed. The food was tasty and served by excellent friendly staff. There is a varied menu with multiple choices to suit your taste. Well worth a visit when in the area, would recommend. this place is also dog friendly, which is a bonus.

Very happy with this visit to the Bay View. Overall the food was very good and at a reasonable price. It is very much a pub atmosphereand you take your chances on that I suppose. I will happily be going back for more soon.

This is a great place, a really relaxed vibe, very friendly, busy but not rammed and a great location. Most importantly though the food was delicious. We will be back.

Thai food was not something we were looking for on a Sunday afternoon stroll along Swansea's Sea front. Indeed, we headed towards the Secret Bar although the queue of people outside waiting to get in out of the cold put us off. Even on the walk back to the Bay View, we were not exactly motivated to go in, but in all honesty, we were glad we did. We haven't been to the Bay View in years. The place itself hasn't changed much, but is welcoming. The food was great and aactually a welcome change to a burger or baguette. Spicy chicken in garlic, and another chicken dish in sweet chilli sauce with crispy wantons was lovely and very much welcome on a cold a blustery afternoon. I dont think we will be so quick to dismis this place next time.

Oh my goodness, what an amazing place. The Thai food is the best I've had outside of Thailand, the customer service was second to none on an error on the order. How has it taken me so long to find thus place. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the takeaway food was incredible. I cannot wait to go back!!

Bay View Oystermouth Road Swansea is an exceptional Thai Restaurant in a very old pub. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff are very obliging and extremely friendly. From the Bay View you can see the sea with Mumbles Head in full view in the distance. If you want good food at a sensible cost with lovely staff then it is the place for you. Go on indulge yourself.

Popped in unexpectedly for lunch whilst visiting Swansea. Absolutely wonderful food, excellent friendly service can't fault it. Superb value for money. I have been going there for several years now and never disappoints but I have moved away from Swansea now some distance, any opportunity to visit Swansea this place will be my first choice. Love it.

Familiar with pub from student days 50 years ago! Now visiting, went today near end of walk from Mumbles. 2 real ales available, good. Most importantly, lunch menu for 2 courses (one served as a “side”) at £6.45 . Sides ok, not special. Both of our mains were brilliant. Not huge but not meagre as might be expected from the price, both really delicious with meat (one pork, one chicken) of good quality. Price includes choice of noodles or rice (or, indeed, chips). Hope to get bach there before our visit ends.

One of my favourite Thai Bar/restaurants. Excellent Value and outstanding service. The staff are so welcoming and work so hard to ensure your looked after. Plus Dog friendly and across the road from the beach. What more can you ask for!

We booked the Bay View as a venue for our wedding reception and it was perfect. Fran (the manager) met with us before the day and accommodated any suggestions or requests that we had, as well as making helpful suggestions to make the day as smooth as possible. We had a lot of things such as decorations/disco lights that required set-up and when we got to the venue everything was in place and looked amazing. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful on the day and the service was fantastic. We had a 2 course Thai meal for our day guests (starter, main and tea/coffee service), followed by a buffet for the evening guests, all of the food was great, and the staff accommodated people's requests, for example being able to provide more mild dishes in case a dish was too spicy! The buffet was a mixture of Thai food e.g. satay/spring rolls and sandwiches/pastries. Overall we felt like the venue went above and beyond to make the day as perfect as possible, and we'd highly recommend it as a venue for any party/event. Thank you! Jami & Dan

Had a time at the Bayview last night. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The Bayview is a very old establishment, full of history and still has lots of original features Highly recommended

Very busy, beer not great tasting. Food really good portions and lovely and fresh but lacked flavour. When asking for chilli to add taste..said they didnt have any not even powder.

Very reasonably priced Thai pub and restaurant with a good selection of lagers and a variety of different dishes. Noodles were a bit dry and my dish could have done with a bit more flavour.

£6.45 all day on a Tuesday for a main dish with rice, noodles or chips plus a side dish you really can't complain. The food itself is actually very nice and big fan of the beers.

Went here for my Brothers birthday yesterday and had the lunch time menu...Fishcakes to start and then my main was a Chicken in Red Thai curry ( Last one listed on the menu ) with Rice...I must say it was absolutely lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it... plus it was washed down with a few lagers!!...Well it's got to be done... All 3 of us were very happy with our meals...It was top class food at an extremely reasonable price and I for one shall be returning very soon!!...😀😀👍👍🍺🍺🍺

Their lunch deal is good. Sometimes they extend the lunch deal for dinner as well which is good.

My mom is head chef in this restaurant and my mom was bringing me to her restaurant she was working in and she cooked me chips and gave me prawn crackers those prawn crackers and chips taste nice and the other Thai food my mom gives to me at home and she cooked from bayview it’s really nice!

Went with friends to watch the rugby. I was very impressed with the service. There was plenty of staff working so no queues at the bar and tables were cleared regularly. I had a meal which was OK but tasted mostly of Soy sauce. I had a better meal last time I was there. Well planned out day and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Excellent value for money at £9.95 for a 2 course Sunday lunch! I will happily return here when I am in the area again! I was put out though when they had free items for dogs on offer and not for cats!

I hadn't been there since before the covid lockdowns and we were all so dissapointed! The portion size has been cut in half, the curry made me and partner unwell and the prices for what you get are ridiculous. Absolutely fantastic staff though, would only go here again for drinks.

So glad I read the reviews, we live in London so very spoilt for good Thai restaurants but we have to say that the Bay View was a lovely dining experience. The staff very attentive and friendly the food superb a true taste of Bangkok … if you are looking for a glamorous place this is not for you it’s quite large, but Covid great as you are spaced out it slightly lacks atmosphere but It’s food is fabulous , and the staff are great we had the Thai fish cakes , Singapore noddles the Panang chicken and the Beef Kap pow a taste of Thailand .. with Prik Nam Pla thanks to all we most definitely will be back and to anyone with a dog it’s dog friendly …. as they are in Thailand Hope you enjoy as much as we did

My friend & I just want a coffee & snack not a lunch. The staff member who greated us & served us was most helpful. We had some starters to share & coffees the food was delicious, his service was amazing. We will definitely be going back there for a meal 😋
