Bay Tree Cafe - Bistro in Rotherham

Tried this place for the 1st time for lunch and was impressed. Only a relatively small place so you would expect service to be good , which it was. Quality of food was excellent, plenty of choice of both food and drink. Reason for 4/5 is I’m looking forward to going again to try some other food and see if they are consistent, if so then a 5/5 will be in the offing. We had the Gyros stack, which was fresh and very tasty, good sized portions for the cost.

Been twice now with friends both time the food was amazing. The stuff are lovely and helpful. I would highly recommend a visit here

We went a year a go to the day, food was amazing. We came back yesterday and was disappointed, the starters were good but mains felt like they were making cost savings. Chicken kebabs were chopped chicken thigh, which is fine but there wasn't much of it. The chips were hard and barely got any salad. It felt like it came straight out of the takeaway rather than cooked for a restaurant. Service was good but not sure I would come back, which is a shame as I love greek food.

Very average. As someone whose been to greece i was disappointed with the food, the moussaka wasnt good at all. Puddings looked nice though. Think ypu pay for location not the quality. Wont be going back.

Came here last night some of our party had the 5 mezze plates and was perfect size to share between two! The cocktails was out of this world freshly made to perfection! Thank you guys for a lovely evening definitely recommend

Popped in sporadically for a quick dinner before dashing to an evening class. Great service, plently healthy options . Proves the quick food doesn’t need to be fat food.

Absolutely beautiful meal, so fresh and wonderful efficient service. The best mussels we have ever had and the swordfish with pesto was to die for. The canapes and cocktails were also delicious.

Had a really lovely evening at the Bay Tree bar and Bistro, the food was excellent we were a party of sixteen and the service was amazing, we were all served at once no waiting the staff were on the ball as to who had ordered what. Our food was really good and presented well and well cooked everyone was happy with what they had ordered, and there was a great atmosphere, a really lovely place to eat looking forward to going back soon.

Just attended for our family Christmas meal. Food was absolutely superb, cannot rate the food highly enough. This place seriously is a hidden gem! I will certainly be returning, hungry for more! Can’t wait. Thank you to the hardworking staff who, despite being busy, were the right level of attentive.

After reading some of the reviews I must have gone to a different restaurant, We went with a group of friends on a Saturday night and after having to pre order our meals we bought over priced drinks from the bar and sat down to have our meals, I had ordered the mixed grill which arrived looking very sorry, it appeared to have been cooked previously and then warmed up before serving and was mostly dry, the chips were like nails and the meat very dry accompanied by two small tasteless dips. the only hot part of the meal was the sausage it was difficult to ascertain if it was a mixed grill or an attempt at a Greek dish but it failed on both counts, there was two pieces of pitta which were toasted which is a first for me on a mixed grill no mushrooms no tomato and a small amount of what appeared to be salad a few olives, sliced onion and some garnish. This is an honest review from someone who has spent the last 30 years visiting Greek Islands and Greek mainland and to try and pass this food off as Greek I find it misleading. John

The meal was one of the best I've had in a long time. My first visit but will definitely be going again.

Took my partner here for the first time for her birthday meal. We are both new to the Greek food scene and all I can say is OMG AND WOW, the food is tasty and out of this world. A very romantic setting, the staff are polite, attentive and very welcoming. We enjoyed every minute of our time here, the staff know exactly what they are talking about and their recommendations suited our taste buds. Keep up the good work and we will see you again soon.

Just a wonderful, family-run Greek restaurant - fabulous food, fantastic service, though, a victim of its own success in that it's always packed out, so trying to enjoy chatting to a loved one over an intimate meal is not necessarily that easy...

5 of us ate here and every one of us enjoyed our food! It was cooked to perfection. We have a vegetarian and a fussy eater but with the varied menu there was something for all of us. Staff were really friendly and attentive.

First time visiting today after a recommendation. Lovely friendly staff. Food was excellent other half had bay tree mezze while I had chicken Souvlaki with Greek salad etc. Really enjoyed it hope to visit again soon.

What a hidden Gem Good choice, very authentic cuisine, quality dishes, well presented. Staff are attentive but not on your shoulders, clearly a very experienced chef. Well done all, we look forward to returning again soon.

Went to the Baytree Bistro on Thursday 29th June for my birthday lunch with family. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. I'd never been before but will definitely be going back.

Well where to start,The PARKING was an absolute nightmare,got sandwiched between 2vans car PARKING for 4 cars on the front of the Bistro, The food was mediocre, been to Greece a lot so expected the greek experience,the food lacked spices Which was disappointing,the service was good, sorry to say I'll not be rushing back,but don't take my word for it go and give it a try and make your own mind up Regards Steve

I have to be honest, looking at the Bay Tree from outside I thought OMG and nearly cancelled... but was I wrong! Lovely service and atmosphere, the food was delicious especially the... well everything to be honest! We only sent food back cos eyes were too big for our bellies! You will not be disappointed if you go here. BTW damn good espresso... forgot to say, house red was amazing... recommended any day of the week... sorry no photos of meal... too busy eating it!

Amazing night for my daughters hen do, from beginning to end the experience of organising it was smooth and professional. The food came out really quickly for 40 people and it was delicious, generous portions and fabulous cocktails, the staff worked really hard to make the evening special, I would highly recommended this gem of a place for authentic Greek food but great coffee and breakfast too.

Amazing night, food and cocktails, I have never had a bad experience at this place and I am a regular visitor. The breakfasts are delicious, Greek options are so tasty and the coffee is fabulous. Whether you want a quiet lunch or a party with friends this place can cater. The Greek menu and the portions are generous and authentic you won’t be disappointed. I recently organised my daughters hen do there for 40 ladies and from start to finish it went smoothly. The food was hot, generous portions and was served really quickly for such a large group. So glad this little gem is near where I live, it is well worth a visit.

Nice bistro. Service was attentive but there were issues with our food. Not enough to complain but marked down; given granary instead of white, no butter on toast with poached eggs, bacon overdone and tough. Disappointed with non Greek options for lunch. Haven't been since before covid, don't think we'll be rushing back.

Went for T for the first time at bay tree restaurant and i got to say. Food was incredibly delicious, service was good, all waiters were lovely. Will definitely be going back. Thank your for the nice experience. 😊 The only negative is that there isn't enough Parking spaces.

The food was so good I'm writing this whilst still sitting in the restaurant. Here for my birthday, two couples. Altogether ordered dolmades, saganaki, prawn saganaki, meatballs and soivlakis. Everything was superb. Cannot recommend highly enough. Also have to say the service is amazing. The young man serving us could not have been friendlier or more polite. First time here and where to start. Service is amazing, food is amazing and the setting is perfect. I had the saganaki starter and the mixed souvlaki. The food is cooked perfectly. All in all the BEST Greek food outside of Greece. We will definitely be here again and soon. We all came out stuffed, content and happy. This really is a gem of a restaurant.

I have been to this fabulous Bistro on many occasions. I have eaten Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Regardless of the meal eaten, or, the number of people to serve; the service, food, atmosphere and cleanliness are excellent. Food is beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are always pleasant, polite and professional. I eat here at least once per month, I am never disappointed, cant praise Joe and his team highly enough.

The mezze night is fantastic! Every single dish (we had 11) was beautiful! An outstanding restaurant!

This place is like a Tardis, looks very small from the outside and when you enter the bar area. Then when you are shown to your table you realise that there is a lot more seating and the restaurant goes way back. There are plenty of staff and the service was excellent. The menu is somewhat limited if you don't like traditional Greek dishes, I tried the Mixed grill which I thought was a little on the dry side, would have benefitted with a sauce of some kind. Starters are wonderful however. All in all a lovely place for a meal out with friends, and a welcome change to the usual 'Pub Chains'.

1st time coming here. Booked it earlier today and they only had 5pm for 2hrs. That was absolutely fine. We got there and it wasnt what we expected (im not sure what i expected tbh 🤣) its a small quirky place. Gorgeous interior. Lovely service from the staff. And the food!!! Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful. And they do gluten free!!!! There isnt alot but its there. I know ill be able to come back and have something different and not get bored from eathong the same things. I was really impressed with the moussaka as i even got gluten free bread with it instead of a pitta. Normally i just dont get bread in other places. It really is the little things. For starters i had the walnut and orange salad i can honestly say its the best salad ive had in a long time. So well presented and super tasty. We will definitely be returning with friends and we will be returning alot more as its only 16min away!! Why we have never known about this place before i do not know. Absolutely highly recommend. Visited with our two friends this evening. Great menu choices. We all had starters and mains. No room for desserts. Well presented and very tasty food, served by efficient and pleasant staff. Nice surroundings with gentle background music. A great little restaurant in suburbs. Will be back.

Lovely bistro, we had booked in advance as it was new year. Had king prawn with chilli and garlic starter which was amazing, had lamb for the main served with vegetables, unfortunately wasn't as good as I was expecting.

A group of family and friends went to the Bay Tree for lunch. There were 18 of us so we had to pre order our food but that worked really well. They looked after us really well. All the more impressive when you consider they were full. Everyone enjoyed their food. Excellent service

Went for breakfast here. Music was a little loud but was turned down upon request. Not very busy as I don’t think people realise it is open so early, which is a good think as a customer and maybe a bad thing for the business...

Lovely food! I've mostly gone for breakfast or lunch but I hear great things about the evening menu too. Looks beautiful at night and very atmospheric. Pretty reasonable pricing, verging on expensive but fantastic quality and well worth it, particularly for a special occasion or treat.

My friend and I pop in to the Bay Tree regularly on our walks around the area. We always receive a friendly welcome, even if we’re just ordering a coffee. Their breakfasts are, quite rightly, very popular. The ingredients are quality and beautifully cooked and presented.

lovely little cafe and VERY doggy friendly. Murphy even got a sausage to try. Lady serving was so helpful with directions too. Avocado brunch and poached eggs with bacon were delicious!

Honestly thought the food was average. The monkfish was clearly from frozen and the mash tasted prepacked. On a positive note great service

Absolutely awful over cooked over priced frozen rubbish. God knows what they're trying to achieve. Stick to chips kebabs and salad everything else just poor 100% wont be going again
