Bay of Bengal in Pembrokeshire

Booked a table via FB messenger, no issues. Asked for a table by the window which we got, fantastic view of Tenby bay/harbour. Staff really friendly and helpful. Good choice of menu. Meal was lovely, plenty of flavour, couldn’t fault anything. Restaurant doesn’t sell alcohol but you can take your own, no corkage fee just bring what you want. Restaurant was very clean and a good cleaning routine after each table was cleared. Fantastic food, a good price and great views. Highly recommend a visit.

We visited this restaurant in March 2024. It's a bit of a conundrum. Pretty disorganised front of house with orders not taken correctly. Also, I really do not like cash only restaurants nor those that serve soft drinks only. On a positive note the food we eventually got was very tasty. 5/10.

Lovely food and when we asked for extras during our food we received them promptly. Staff were lovely and they boxed up food that we couldn't finish. We didn't encounter any of the negative comments that we read on the reviews and will definitely be back 🙂👍

Average food. Average service. Miles better curry elsewhere, not sure what other options are available in Tenby but this is not up to my usual standard.

I've spent a lot of time in India and I was surprised how good the food in this restaurant was, super tasty and clean. Good location and great views. The added bonus was BYO alcohol! Service was good, would highly recommend.

What a lovely place to eat in Tenby, we just walked in but recommend booking. The staff are friendly and you can take your own alcohol 🍷 but they have a good selection of non alcoholic drinks too. Menu choices are good and everything is freshly made yet not long waiting times. The view is amazing if you sit outside or get the window table..we definitely will be back 😍

We have just been to The Bay of Bengal and our meal was excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Arrived without a previous booking but was welcomed and seated without any trouble. A lovely friendly atmosphere. Staff were attentive but not overly so…order was taken promptly and food delivered to our table in good time. Our food was delicious….tandoori mixed grill and chicken jalfrezi plus extras. Will definitely be making another visit and would recommend….thank you to the staff for making our first visit a pleasant experience.

Me my family & friends went to this restaurant on Sunday 17 September as we were staying in a house a next door. My son had a hair on his starter which the owner seemed to find quite funny! I ordered a Biryani which was absolutely tasteless which is a difficult thing to do to Indian food. One of our group had 4 small pieces of meat in his dish & there were about 3 if that tablespoons of rice per serving. Completely over rated and absolutely over priced.

We booked the Bay of Bengal for my wife's birthday meal, when we booked we asked for 6.30pm and an outside table, they told us they can't guarantee the outside tables on a weekend, which is fair enough. We arrived just before 6.30 and as we were early, we got our outside table for 4, we had taken our own alcohol as its BYOB, we were asked for our order, we asked if we could just order some poppadoms and chutneys while we decided our main meals, but, we were told we had to order everything together. We ordered the poppadoms, chutneys and 4 main meals with 1 chips, 2 portions of rice and 2 x naan. When the food arrived the bowl of chips was tiny and tbe rice portions were just enough for 2, which was disappointing, as the rice is usually plentiful in most Indian restaurants, we had to order another rice bowl and a 2nd chips bowl, which was double the size of tbe 1st one..we complained about this and we were only charged for the one bowl. Overall the food was really good, but, we felt like we were rushed, as if they wanted us in and out , the was also no interaction with the waiters, not even asking how the meal was, our waiter didn't know what the different dishes were he served us. Would we go again, probably yes, as its a stunning location and the food is really good, we are also now fully aware of the portions.

We ordered two simple dishes and even that took about 45 minutes. Lemonade was more like 7up. The manager didn't seem to have a nice attitude towards the customers. I ordered a madras just for myself and my family tried some and loved it so much we all agreed to get one the next night. Hands down best madras I’ve ever had and everyone else loved their food too. Service was absolutely lovely and quick especially for the amount of food we ordered. 100% recommend, we had a takeaway but they have a lovely dining area and the outside seating is also lovely with heaters as the man who served us encouraged us to look around.

Very good, tasty takeaway food. We ordered by telephone to pick up (was ready 10 minutes after stated time but it was a Friday night so no problem); Assortment of chutneys (slightly small potions of mint raitha, mango chutney & large amount of chopped onion with a bit of cucumber/tomato - little bit underwhelming), Jinga Silsilla with Pilau rice (Tandoori King prawns, peppers & onions - quite hot/very tasty), Chicken tikka Masala & pilau rice (very tasty) and Vegetable biryani (very tasty). Clean plates all round. Would definitely go there again.

Poor service Manager a grump Booked table 3 weeks prior requesting sea view seating .Told when arrived we couldn't sit at that table because it was for 5 not 4 . However this table remained empty the whole time we were there . We hardly finished our food and they took our plates felt rushed . Food average over priced. I wanted a lovely experience for my friends big birthday won't be rushing back. Even with harbour view!! Manager needs to get his act together or leave. Disappointed 😔

Worst curry I’ve had in 30 years; watery, flavourless and very over priced even for a decent curry. Clearly not expecting repeat business and just fleecing tourists paying for the location. The staff are pleasant other than the manager who clearly doesn’t care about customer service. I’m also not sure the balcony is safe as appears so be leaning out from the building. Avoid and hopefully it will improve when they have to make an effort for the trade.

Wonderful food, a view to die for, but truly clueless service. Could we have drinks, no you must order with food, popadums arrive, ask for ordered drinks, no drinks, main courses arrive, can we have ordered drinks. It’s really not difficult and it’s like this every time.

Awful customer service. Substandard food that I’m pretty sure is microwaved. Couldn’t accommodate a change to the “specials” as wanted mushrooms instead of meat. Flat soft drinks poured out of bottles. Would recommend you spend your money on a microwave curry from Tesco express round the corner. The only thing going for it, is the lovely view.

Food was absolutely not worth the wait. We booked a table for 7:30, when we got there we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated only for another table who got seated after us to be served and dined first. The food took an hour to come and the naan was cold and not fresh. I would not go back.

Nice little restaurant in the heart of tenby. Lovely place to eat. Food was nice but very little you order rice you get a tiny tub, ask if the curry is on the bone as we didn't and ours was mostly bone and not alot of meat. Check your bills as some mistakes on ours where they tried overprinting, but it did get rectified

Visited Tenby/Wales from Birmingham last week. (The home of proper curries!) Usually cautious to eating curry outside of Brum but this place is spot on. Absolutely brilliant. Read some reviews about the owner being rude and they are correct. From how we were greeted and sat down in the first instance.. In fact I would go as far as to say that if I wasn’t really craving for a curry and not wanting to be turned around, he was extremely close to receiving a reaction from me to tone himself down. Although.. he did rectify this as time went on and later was actually quite pleasant chap. Told us the chef was from Birmingham hence the high standard. I think maybe he just struggles under pressure and busy times as the place is packed at all times. I won’t score the place down for this though as it’s spot on for its purpose, it wouldn’t be fair. Just maybe work on your service manners a little bit mate. Take a breath, smile, ensure people can order what they need to without running off. Cheers

Wouldn’t bother really… Average at best. Looks good and the menu is pretty good as well as the view of the bay but that’s about it. Food is ok but be prepared to wait….. Quite a few tables had orders missing or in our case they decided to skip our starters ordered. Other than that ok and they did take the order off the bill.

Tasty food and good service, a lot better than the local Indians we've had in London and not as pricey. A member of staff even ran after my husband after he forgot the rice. A big thank you for giving us a halal option our kids were missing their rice and curry.

The only thing good was the Seaview

We had the best meal here. The food was fantastic, the portion sizes were good and it came out quickly. Please note though: it's a CASH ONLY restaurant and BYOB. So plan ahead.

After looking around the rest of Tenby for somewhere to eat we finally came across this restaurant and they accommodated us promptly for a large table last minute on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy however they still managed to fit us in and make us feel welcome. The food was amazing and the view of the beach was excellent! Can’t fault the service and definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for somewhere to eat in Tenby with a lovely view and fab food!

The 2 stars are for the view and the view only. Visited this restaurant last week and I really couldn't have left more disappointed, the food was really ,really poor, I had Goan chicken and quite frankly it was about as far from a chicken Goan as you can get. It looked and tasted like a bowl of chicken in bisto gravy with some chillies and copious amounts of sugar added ,it really was disgusting . The manager was rude and didn't seem at all interested in any of the customers, we left over £50 worse off and will never return. Please heed my advice and spend your hard earned cash somewhere (anywhere) else.

Great food with excellent service from all the staff. Outstanding views with the option to sit outside on the terrace. Have used this restaurant for 23 years and still as good as ever.

A great meal, but at a price, not the most inexpensive feast in our recent trip to Tenby. The staff are great, the owner is a little dour. The decor and the ability to have sea view both from inside and on the outside balcony are fantastic. Be prepared CASH only and take your own alcohol, no corkage charge. Recommend booking.

This place has great views of Tenby harbour but the food doesn't match up. The menus offer the usual 'Indian' takeaway options (balti, korma, vindaloo etc) with the usual choice of meat or veg and a few 'chef's specials' but as the menus are laminated the vibe was very much greasy spoon rather than proper restaurant. The raita that came with the poppadoms was grey and possibly out of a bottle, the wrong food was delivered to 2 party members and one of the sides we ordered was unavailable but no-one came to tell us until we had asked several times where the additional item was. We also had to repeatedly ask for a jug of tap water. The chopped onions, lettuce and lemon garnishes had obviously been cut a very long time before and were starting to dry up and looked rather unappealing. The whole experience was rather disappointing and left us with a feeling that these guys are just here to make money from tourists and have given up caring about making it nice.

We very much enjoyed the food! We went there on a busy evening without reservation (which I highly recommend!) but we got squeezed in between existing reservations. Some reports here say it is not enough food but we very much enjoyed that we did not get a massiv ton of stuff like in some other places. It was still plenty!

I previously visited 4 years ago and gave The Bay Of Bengal another visit. The service was perfect, every staff member was polite and very welcoming to our visit, some reviews mentioned they were rude but I didn't see that at all with myself or observing others dining. The portion size is on the smaller side but it's perfect if you want to have a variety of food, it allowed me to have chips (which had a perfect crunch) and a curry while sharing a naan. I dined outside and the view was fantastic, it did take a small while to get the bill but that's understandable for a busy venue and it gave me more time to enjoy the view. I'll be coming back, the Kurma was delicious :)

I called in on passing on Tuesday to make a reservation for the following night, but whilst I was still talking the waiter walked off and didn’t even take any note of my booking, I should of let that be the first red flag but nevertheless we attended our reservation the following night. The rude arrogant waiter was in prime position and continued this throughout the whole meal, I can only presume that he owns the restaurant because I very much doubt anyone would continue to employ him! They encourage you to take your own alcohol and I should have listened because being intoxicated probably would have helped enjoy the very bog standard, flavourless meal that we received. £71 for what on hindsight is one of the worst Indians we have eaten, micro meals would of left me more pleased than this place did. Ps if the large, chunky, hairy guy isn’t the owner then I would fire him as he is a horrid addition to your business.

Went to this restaurant this evening and from the minute we walked in we was greeted very rudely by im guessing the owner. There was 4 of us in total and my little boy that 17 months old. We booked our table in advance and informed them we needed a high chair. As we walked in the owner said “ Table for 4 and that” and pointed at my son. Another customer also heard the comment. He tapped me on the shoulder as he could see I was ready to blow and told me to rise above it as he’s just ignorant and arrogant. We then had to ask for our high chair. Snatched the menu from us and no thank you how was your food nothing. Other staff was lovely just the owner. That’s all I can I say was he’s lucky I was in a good mood!! DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS GUY! Better places to go! Food was average!

Not the restaurant experience that I'm used to, the area inside the front door looks promising enough as a pleasant place to dine however I was expecting at least the same on the balcony, plastic style garden chairs & no table cloths are not something I've come across at any Indian restaurant in any country I might have been in at the time, it felt more like a cafe with a view, no interaction from who I presume was the owner & very little from the younger guy. Our starters came out very quickly & were ok, I think our mains were ready to be served before we had finished our starters (far too fast & we felt like we were being rushed) we were given time to wait for our main though. When the mains were brought to us the metal dishes they were served in were extremely hot but the food was only just hot enough, my Chicken Balti was ok but my wife's mild version wasn't to her liking & looked more like korma in appearance & she only ate half or slightly less, portion size is just enough if you're not massively hungry but rice portions could definitely be a bit bigger as most people do like to share. More effort regards atmosphere definitely needs addressing & interaction from staff just to show that they do have a genuine interest in thier customers. As it stands this place would make a great cafe or bar that is open during the day taking full advantage of the view.

Second to time coming here, would be a hell of a lot more if I were local. Food still as good as it was 3 years ago. Staff friendly and the chef really does know how to cook amazing food. The views on a good day just compliment the place. Travelled a fair bit around the UK and this is still my favourite Indian restaurant by a mile.

Not a great experience, friendly welcome and good service. Ordered our food, 3 out of the 6 dishes were wrong, we asked for lamb and we all got chicken. So they understood and brought us lamb on the side to make up for it. But unfortunately the food was not great, the currys weren't very flavoursome and the lamb was very dry. When they came back to check and asked if the meal was to standard, the table went quiet and explained that it wasn't great. The server said nothing, took our plates and walked away. We've visited here every year, when staying in Tenby, but not again after last night, new years eve. Standards have slipped. Our main meal was a real disappointment. My Prawn Kurma very watery, my husbands lamb meal, mostly fat. Service was poor, ourselves and other tables did not receive all of our orders, till we bought it their attention. And to top the night off, we were all given our bills before we had even requested them. The bills were slapped on everyone's table. Very unprofessional in my opinion

Very nice food And very good service

The food was lovely and I can’t fault it. the service how ever was very very shoddy. We had to ask for a menu instead of being given one when we were seated. We weren’t asked if we would even like any drinks regardless if there was no alcohol for sale there. The bill was given to us literally as soon as my plate was taken away without me even asking for it in order to get us out quickly even though the restaurant was empty. All in all the staff there need to work on their basic hospitality and customer service.

Awful experience, cash only service so that they can dodge the tax man. They also 'forgot to give me 6 poppadoms (at 90p a poppadom)'. When I called back to ask if they could send the items they had missed I was told I may be able to get them if I came back to the restaurant. I would stay clear of this very unethical business.

Ordered a take away from these guys tonight and I have to say the food and service was exceptional. I will definitely be calling back for more.
