Me and my Daughter stumbled on this restaurant tonight. The whole experience was fantastic ie food, staff, comfort, treatment. Zara was extremely attentive and friendly. The food we had was utterly delicious and we got a lovely surprise at the price. Thank you for making our evening so wonderful. Rose and Sally.

super thin watery and bland madras with dry rice, maybe so bad because it was a Monday night but it was the one of the worst Indians I’ve had. Nice delivery guy tho

We enjoyed our meal, lamb was cooked beautifully in a tasty sauce. Portions were just right, so we could share a couple of sides as well without ending up leaving half. Service was spot on, friendly, polite and attentive. Can recommend for a reasonably priced, authentic curry.

We were walk in customers and the staff accommodated us. The food was amazing (wife recommends prawn bhaji) it was really fresh and full of flavour. The ladies at the front of house were welcoming and friendly- we could have stayed all night chatting. Really nice for family or couples nights highly recommend.

We are currently on holiday in Rennington from Porthsmouth. The lady that took our order was extremely polite and friendly. The food we ordered was delivered hot within the time specified. The food itself was delicious and the portions were just right. i couldnt believe the size of the onion Bhajis. The lamb was so tender and the sauces were not heavy at all. Would definately recommend this takeaway and when we come back up will definately be trying the restaurant. Superb.

Just fancied a good holiday curry experience and tried The Bay Leaf Lounge in Alnwick. Turned out to be a great choice for the family. Very good and personalised service at table and from chef. We ordered well in advance of the delivery time we wanted and were kept fully informed of the progress of our order which was a little later than we’d requested but that was not a problem. The meal was delivered piping hot with beautifully crisp poppadoms and fluffy naan bread. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our choices. We will certainly order from the Bay Leaf Lounge again.

Wonderful, authentic Indian and Pakistani food cooked by the father of this little, family-run curry house. The daughter who served us was very aware of the fact that they were very quiet in the restaurant, though they were doing a roaring trade in take-away and delivery. She was friendly and a great waitress. I thoroughly recommend visiting the restaurant as the service and atmosphere are great.

The food was lovely and tasty - and waitress (Ara) friendly and efficient - and accommodated us despite not having a reservation and arriving a little before opening time. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

As new residents of the area we’ve been working our way round the town trying out all the dining options and tonight got a takeaway. Only positive was the Naan, mushroom pilau rice was exceptionally bland and main of tikka jalfrezi completely lacking depth of flavour this restaurant charges premium prices for mediocre food - much better options available in Alnwick

We were visitors to Alnwick this week, staying at the Hallow and Crux, and were looking for a Monday night curry. Quick search found this restaurant, and booked a table over the phone. On arrival the restaurant was quiet, we were first table at 1900 hours..however the staff were extremely attentive and friendly, chatted away and made us feel very welcome. Good comprehensive menu and I would say very reasonable pricing for a sit in meal. Food arrived in good time and was,excellent, hot, very good food. We asked for a soft drink, which they had ran out of and the manager ran across the road to get it in a shop for us.. that was above and beyond. Very good overall. Would definitely go back. But remember to leave the lemon out next time!!

The staff are SO kind 🥰 Ara was especially wonderful kind and went above and beyond helping us Americans split our bill. The chef and owner came out to greet us and we felt so special and well taken care of. And the food was AMAZING 😍 thank youuuuu

We've just had a wonderful meal here. Were visiting Alnwick from Manchester and are no strangers to eating south Asian food. We were all really impressed with the food. It had a lovely fresh and authentic taste, with differing flavours. Definitely one of the best meals we have eaten in quite some time. Well done! The service was equally first rate, friendly and attentive. I would 100 percent recommend and should we return to Alnwick it will be the first restaurant that we visit. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Another visit. This really is a true family Indian restaurant with Dad in the kitchen. Freshly cooked authentic cuisine. Each couse beautifully presented and served. Had many many dishes from the menu and all have been impressive. Visit and choose any dish and you will be impressed 👌

We've just had a delicious meal at The Bay Leaf Lounge. It's a lovely little restaurant, light airy and tastefully decorated. There was a great variety of dishes and the food we chose was beautiful and very reasonable. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, we shall be visiting again before we go back home.

The Bay Leaf Lounge in Alnwick is the first Indian restaurant we visited as tourists visiting Alnwick. We were always blown away by the family owners, the ambiance of the restaurant and the quality of the food. We now live in Alnwick and it's still our go to restaurant in Alnwick for special occasions. It's a wee bit off the beaten track but only 2 mins from Market Square and right opposite the bus station Don't miss it. Freshly made Indian cousine by the owner. It's an absolute gem 🎂👍😘🥰🥳🙏👌 xxx

I have just had chicken korma and pilau rice from the bayleaf lounge and it is the most disgusting thing I have ever had, the korma tasted nothing like korma and the pilau rice was nothing like any pilau I've had from any other Indians. I don't normally leave bad reviews but this was truly awful, the whole lot went in the bin after the first taste.

Excellent meal experience in The Bay Leaf Lounge this evening. Staff very attentive (family business) and a nice “clean” feel to the premises. Innovative menu with home cooked items on the list. Food was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely return when we are next in the area. We are curry officianado’s - this is one of the most authentic curries we have eaten.

Absolutely terrible. An hour and a half late and half the order missing. Refund was £3 and two cans of coke. Never again.

Too tell the truth extremely underwhelmed 3 main meals 2 rice and 2 onion Bahjis and 4 popadoms £57.00 take away That is over priced and the curry was mediocre to poor. Used to use here all the time. The price rises apparently are due to suppliers cost. Funny how the other main Indian restaurant and take away are charging the same prices. The check of it is that popadoms yous to be 55p now £1.60 My advice don’t bother unless you want an over priced poor curry. Go to Aldi

Simply Fabulous Bengali Restaurant :0) We had veg starters and fish main course, chapattis and paratha and everything was just gorgeous. The highest compliment I can pay is this tasted like home cooked (Apna style) food. Nothing super fancy but just really, REALLY tasty (the way food should be). We chatted to the owner and staff ( who were just so friendly) for ages after our meal and the whole experience made us feel really special. If you're in Alnwick and want some great value, really tasty food, made as if it was cooked for a big family meal: head here!

Fantastic Indian takeaway and restaurant. First experience we ordered dinner for the family online. Prices were great and despite the long drive and rural nature of where we stayed, the dinner arrived hot. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered a takeaway for collection later in the week. Lovely and caring staff made you feel welcomed. Food very tasty again and cooked to order. Would definitely recommend.

Placed a large order for over £75 worth of food. They quoted 60 to 90 minutes for delivery, which was a long wait but we thought we'd go for it anyway. As the hour and half approached we called them and were told they hadn't even started cooking it yet. They said it would be AT LEAST another hour! The lady on the phone could not have been less interested and was quite happy to just tell us, without any kind of apology, that they'd been busy (on this Monday evening in October) . Apparently they hadn't had time to change the wait times on Just Eat or even to let us know that there was a problem. When we told her we'd like to cancel it (having paid in full) she told us we'd have to take it up with Just Eat!! I would strongly advise anyone thinking of using the Bay Leaf Lounge to try somewhere else... they really do not seem to care in the slightest about their customers!

Unassuming from the outside but inside you will find the very best of people and top quality food. They obviously care and are proud of what is produced in their kitchen .. The owner and head chef comes out of the kitchen and walks around the tables to make sure everyone is happy and enjoying the food he has watched being cooked under his supervision .. Unlike many Indian restaurant's you can taste the spices used in the dishes which only proves the food has been cooked to order and not rushed through the kitchen in five minute from placing your order .. I would make this your first choice Indian restaurant in Alnwick .. highly recommended .. Thanks for a great evening and the tips you gave us for exploring the surrounding area

We had a lovely meal here the staff were very helpful and friendly when it came time to go we asked for a taxi number, the manageress said that there was a one hour wait but was not a problem as she would ask her dad to take us where we were going to, which he did at no charge and thanked us for our costume. Thanks again Bay Leaf for a lovely night out.

Poor service and quality,we were waiting ages on our food. When its arrived seems like it was reheated from somebodys else order.

First they delivered the order , then they checked back for it saying wrong order . Then they came back with the same order added a couple of items we had ordered and missed one complete meal of the order no naan bread. Cold as it had been back and forth and then they came back a 3rd time with the.missing curry which wasn't the one we had ordered anyway. Called them and asked for refund and to speak to the manager . And neither happened £86 this.meal cost . And it tasted awful as well

After placing an order through Just Eat and paying for it I received a call 15 minutes later. It was to inform me the £3 delivery charge was actually going to be £10. The manager insisted the advert said £3 only to Alnwick, it does not, it says £3-£4.50 for catchment area. Only take always that have included me in their catchment area show up on just eat. So they cancelled my order and told me to get in touch with just eat if I wanted the money back. Food was pretty crap anyway but at least it used to deliver.

Really cracking curry! Travelling from Edinburgh to York. Stopped for a curry and it was perfect. Lovely balanced flavours, perfect heat. The pilau rices and chapati’s are top notch. Service was with a smile and they were really accommodating. Will definitely visit again.

The order was 2 hours late. I rang Up 4 times and each time they lied and said it was with the driver eventually when it turned up it didn’t have the chips or poppadoms I ordered in so the driver said he would go back and get them only for him to turn 25 minutes later with the poppadoms and forgot the chips. I rang back up and the guy said he would he would refund me for the chips but didn’t

Takeaway, arrived quite promptly. Thought half a tandoori chicken would be safe but it turned out to be chicken pieces on the bone so not much meat, and what there was was inedible. The naan was OK but the salad wilted. Yuk.

Fabulous authentic Asian food.It is rare to find a restaurant that is authentic in its recipes and flavours but this place was fantastic. No yellow and pink pilau rice here, rice cooked in the traditional way with spices. The curries were lovely with large juicy chicken pieces and spice flavourings were bob on. We visit India regularly and were very pleased with the food.Staff were very attentive and friendly. We loved our meal here and if we are back in Alnwick we will definitely return.

The Bay Leaf very kindly fit us in at the last minute. They seated us more than two metres away from other diners. On that, I was impressed with the hand sanitiser and name list on arrival and that takeaways were dealt with at the front desk. We sat in and I had the king prawn masala chilli dish, it was luxurious. Husband had chicken korahi (I think) which he really enjoyed. Generous portions, staff couldn't do enough for us. Superb! Our new favourite in Alnwick - almost on the outskirts of the centre but bonus parking outside.

My husband and I thought the food was wonderful, best I've eaten in months. The staff were friendly and helpful. They asked if we wanted our food milder or more spicy. The chef came out at the end of the evening and asked how our meal was. I've never had this happen before. Covid protocol was good. Unfortunately I was on holiday otherwise I would be visiting this restaurant on a regular basis.

Poor service had to wait far too long for food heard cooks arguing in the kitchen overall not good.

We visited last night in a catch up with friends, we drove from Sunderland and our table was booked for 8.30, from the outside it looks just like a take away but pleasantly surprised with how big it is inside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Due to how busy they were we didn’t get our starter until 9.40 but I must say the food was delicious and worth the wait.. we will be back again.. also managed to catch the eat out to help out offer but even without this the costs of the dishes are very reasonable..
