We have had breakfast here several times and it’s is always very good. The vintage theme is a lovely touch and the staff (in their tea dresses) are friendly and welcoming. The food is served quickly and is delicious. It’s also really good value for money

I can honestly say that I am usually pretty fussy about food I eat out. I have been to the Bayleaf twice now for breakfast and have not been disappointed. The vintage theme is lovely, young staff make it appealing for all. Very well run, efficient and friendly service. They accommodate changes to menue choice and food is well presented, hot and very good value for money. As with most places cost of drinks in someway are disproportionate to food. However, saying that still very competitive compared to other places. Overall would definitely recommend and would encourage people to support independent cafe.

What a delightfully surprising little cafe in the heart of Sittingbourne, very unexpected. Bright, cheery and smiley young person to greet you as you enter and then seat you, paying attention to you too, very appreciated. Food was really good, tasty, well cooked, plenty of it and well presented with a great smile and such a positive attitude. I'm torn between which was better, the food or the service! All the food is VERY reasonably priced and most definitely worth a visit. We'll be going back for sure. I'd love to work somewhere like this, it really does look a lovely place to be.

Found this side street cafe in Sittingbourne, very friendly staff, absolutely great atmosphere, good choice of food, drinks and dessert. The food we had was very nice indeed, could not fault it in any way, so gave a tip for an excellent service. Definitely will be back.

First time here and it won't be the last either. The menu has a wide variety of dishes and the prices are good. We had breakfast and it was delicious, the service was also very good. Will be visiting again soon, the lunches sound delicious! Would highly recommend.

Always a great place to eat or drink. This little Sittingbourne café has now become my favourite, the food is always good and the staff really friendly.

Sittingbourne High street is not in a happy condition, being affected by the closure of a number of large high street names and the disruption from building works. Bay leaf is an island of calm, with friendly staff and home made food. Good choice of cakes, coffee, hot chocolate and several herbal teas. All nicely served on vintage china at the table but not costing any more than a large brand coffee shop. Very popular - the best cafe in Sittingbourne.

Visited Sittingbourne for the day and was very happy to find this little gem. Lovely vintage themed tearoom with plenty to choose from on the menu. My toasted cheese and tomato sandwich was served with a salad garnish which was more like a side salad This cafe offers very good value for money and I would definitely make a return visit. The only downside if there is one would be the bathroom - they could do with a toilet seat that fits properly!

A period café with a good menu and very good service. Tea and coffee in old fashioned china cups, lovely baked potatoes, ver good place to take grandchildren.

Although I've visited Sittingbourne many times, this is the first time I've discovered this quaint little cafe. Extremely friendly service, very quick. Lovely brie and grape sandwich on nice bread. Green tea was good. All for a very reasonable price. I think you might describe the loo as 'shabby chic' but very clean with lovely touches such as hand lotion and paper towels - not noisy or inefficient electric dryers. Aiming to go back next time I visit Sittingbourne and will recommend to friends and family.

A family group of 6 of us went in here for lunch. The decor is unique and very 40’s flavor. The menu has a good choice and the food was great.

Visited for the first time today. Great 1940's styling/decor including the staff who make a great effort with their hair and makeup. Food was good, staff were friendly and great with the kids so what's not to like!

Love the atmosphere of this cafe. War time feel, decor and items. Staff even dress up and do their hair in the style which is a lovely touch. They are knowledgeable about the area and answered our kids questions about items in the cafe. The milkshakes went down well with the kids, proper thick shakes. The tea was alright, not the best but not the worst. I was hoping for top notch but didn't quite get that. The cakes were nice that we had. I do fancy going there and testing out a cream tea as they sound good on the menu and look good value.

Popped in here with my partner who had seen it while out shopping. It’s tucked away off the main high street but is a great find.

Lovely tea room a beautifully set like a period drama, feels like you’ve gone back in time. Food is great a reasonably priced. Staff are lovely and friendly and dress accordingly too.

I had the pleasure of visiting this fab little cafe whilst visiting friends, we went in there for lunch on Saturday afternoon and I can only say it was great.... the cafe is based on 1940's vintage so is brimming with lots of gorgeouse china teapots with proper cups and saucers and all sorts of memorabilia from the era..... even the girls working there are dressed in 1940's fashion.

Great little cafe situated just off Sittingbourne high street. Great vintage atmosphere and lovely food. Great choices for lunch, both my fiancée and I enjoyed sandwiches. Will definitely be returning and saw other customers have breakfasts and afternoon tea which we can't wait to try.

We had a lovely time here for brunch. A cute atmosphere, quick, friendly service and most of the food was good. I wouldn't recommend the poached egg as it was way over cooked; maybe try the fried egg. Very good value for money!

What a find, great valve & all food is prepared fresh. We had toastie and tea, properly toasted on both side's. Sandwiches where filled to the brim.

¡Qué hermosa cafetería! El personal encantador en un café de estilo vintage, decoración y música muy ajustada. Excelente relación calidad-precio el desayuno se sirve en porcelana china bien en consonancia con el tema. Un tesoro escondido sin duda volveremos.

Visité aquí el viernes pasado como no bastante a menudo cuando la banca viernes. Este café es la joya de Sittingbourne. Ofrece una gran variedad de sándwiches, wraps, baguettes, patatas y desayunos todo chaqueta a un precio razonable. No he probado las tartas, que parecen increíbles y nos ofrecen una buena relación calidad-precio. Yo bastante a menudo opta por la oferta, que es un sándwich, sándwich o baguette con envoltura de patatas fritas y una lata de bebida. Es razonable entre 3. 00 y 3. 50 dependientes de llenado. Recomiendo encarecidamente el aguacate y gambas con salsa de marisco envoltura.

Estaba visitando la zona y necesitaba una taza. Había visto unos pocos lugares en la calle alta, pero no me gustó el aspecto de ellos. Entramos en la bahía de hojas y me sorprendió gratamente. Sólo pedimos té y tostadas, pero nos encantó tanto a la temática de 1940 y todos los sig - China igualados - que probablemente pueden haber sido típico en los cafés durante los años de la guerra. El servicio fue rápido y el personal amable. Té era abundante, lo que hace un cambio, como en la mayoría de los sitios le dan apenas suficiente en un recipiente para las dos tazas. Sin duda volvería allí.

Came for lunch with my husband. We came here every week. Lovely place. Food absolutely delicious. We had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich each.Yummy. The ladies are always so happy and give wonderful customer service . Always make us laugh. Highly recommend.

Stopped off here for lunch with my little girl while doing some jobs in townI had tomato and basil soup (was ok but a bit like eating tinned tomatoes) and a pot of tea (came with mis matched crockery as part of their "vintage" theme) and my daughter had a ham & cheese toastie (came with a little salad garnish) and a chocolate milkshake (made from powder and could have been better)Food was ok - service was alright but you can tell a forced smile over a true one - price was £9.70 in totalWould I return? If all I wanted was a cup of tea and a sit down for ten minutes yes. For lunch? Probably not

Always a nice welcome. There is a good selection of breakfasts, snacks, lunches, sandwiches, etc., at realistic prices. Small intimate café with a 1940/50s theme. I like the pretty, unmatched crockery and framed pictures of past times on the walls. Even the staff wear clothes of the time, right down to their hairstyles. Well done girls!

If you want to have breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea or just a snack this is the place to go in Sittingbourne. They have a lovely selection of cakes, sandwiches and hot food as well as jacket potatoes and salad. You can enjoy a nice pot of tea,or coffee cold drinks all served by the friendly staff. The tea room is very nicely decorated in vintage style and it's a lovely escape from the busy world outside just to relax and enjoy the back ground music of the 40's 50's and 60's. I like to visit at least once a week as I always feel relaxed after my tea and sandwiches.

Mum and I had toasted panini which came with a generous portion of coleslaw and salad. Not bad for £4.00 each! The ladies were lovely, chatty and flower-haired, and the place was friendly and clean. Great! (Photo attached)

I've previously reviewed the Bay Leaf Cafe but have been a couple of times since and thought it was worth a second review as it has been consistently good.We usually go here for breakfast which is great value... under £4 for a full English. Previously I mentioned the poached eggs were a little disappointing. Since then we've had fried eggs and they've always been perfectly cooked... runny yolk, soft white (not rubbery) and not crispy on the bottom. I like the fact that the beans are served in a separate little pot as soon people prefer them not to 'interfere' with other food on their plate.Service is always quick and friendly.We will continue to go back here for breakfast and would certainly recommend it to anyone.

After living in Sittingbourne for a few years and walking past here many times we finally decided to drop in for breakfast.The decor is very nice and it's a very pleasant place to be. The staff were friendly and attentive and service was good.We were eating breakfast so didn't really look at the rest of the food on the menu but it had a good choice for breakfast. We both went for the All Day Breakfast (£3.95) with an extra egg. The food was very good and the breakfast tasted clean, however we did regret opting for poached eggs... they were coddled rather than poached and unfortunately completely solid when served.Overall it was a great little cafe. The breakfast was very good, eggs aside (would just go for fried in future) and great value.I'm sure we'll visit again.

I have never been to Sittingbourne before and heard there was no where great for breakfast , how wromg they where , what a great find this place was , Really friendly staff lovely hot home ccoked ( not greasy at all) breakfast , poached egg was spot on bacon and sausages had plenty of flavour and the toast was hot and fresh , really was good. The music playing was 30-40s the whole place oozed vintage . Well done ladies what a gem if a place.

Have often popped in here when shopping in Sittingbourne. The staff are excellent and the service is always good; the food well cooked and enjoyable. A favourite snack is the fish platter - salad with generous helpings of prawns, smoked salmon, and crab sticks. This is very good value and tasty. The new decor is attractive fifties, a touch of nostalgia. Everything is prepared fresh and you can watch its preparation. The home made cakes and scones are delicious.

Was taken here for lunch by a friend who eats here all the time. Had a very enjoyable all-day breakfast for just £3.80 - really excellent value for 2 sausages, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, egg and toast. Service was fast and friendly. Would have given 3 stars if it hadn't been such value for money. Would return
