Bay Leaf in East Dunbartonshire

Disappointed in the service today. Placed an order for collection and my 14 year old daughter walked along to collect it, 10 mins away. Soon as she gets home I get a call saying she took the wrong order, No… she was given the wrong order when she entered and gave her name for collection. Your error. No apology, just asked us to take it back as the customer was waiting outside the store for it. I asked if they wanted to have the delivery person come get it and bring my order but told no, my daughter had to walk back along with it and had the cheek to ask her to hurry! Again no apology when she returned and again told her she took the wrong one like it was her fault! The staff should confirm the name and the order before passing to the customers but the guy just took her name and gave her it .All this also meant my food was cold when it finally got to me. Very disappointed in that service, won’t order from here again.

I ordered a curry and the delivery was estimated to take 30-50 minutes. The food arrived after an hour and twenty minutes. The curry was luke warm and the rice was colder. The poppadums were broken into small pieces. I did phone to ask where my order was after an hour and was told it was with the driver.

Truly disappointing! Have ordered a few times from Bay Leaf and the food has always been tasty and has decent portions, however last night was a disaster. We ordered six mains, two were veg curries and they were passible, however the other four curries (chicken and lamb) were terrible. When opening the meat mains when I go home I was greeted with five tiny bits of meat swimming in a bland watery sauce. There was nothing authentic about the dishes and we couldn't tell which curry was which, as they were almost identical. Unfortunately, we won't be back again and will be sharing our review with family and friends.

Very disappointed in the standard of curries. We ordered quite a few different chicken curries and they all tasted the same served in a watery bright red sauce. The chicken was chewy to eat. Very small quantity. Will definitely not be using the Bay leaf again. So disappointed ☹️

Really enjoyed the restaurant when it first opened, ordered from here multiple times and the food wasalways was great. The past 2 times the food has been cold, 2 hours for delivery, wrong order and the chicken is terrible there is always a funny smell to it. They can never get the order correct. Will not be using again

I have ordered many times from the bay leaf , the food is good however the delivery service is terrible. It was almost 2 hours last night for the food to arrive. Highly unlikely that we will be ordering again.

Long wait time, have used a fair few times since opening and the quality has just went down will not use again 😔 👎 poppadoms are not cooked fresh!! Out of date juice!! Inconsistent taste in pizza!! Found a thick black hair in tandoori mixed grill!! Chicken pakora batter lacks crispness!! Cook poppadoms to order. Sell bottles of juice still in date plz. Get a better pizza dough recipe/improve tomato sauce for base. More due diligence regarding food hygiene. Improve pakora batter recipe. Many thanks Ex customer Ps. I have recipes that could help improve the quality of some of your dishes 😀

Absolutely awful service, ordered a family meal for 7 people, ordered at 4pm, food arrived quickly enough but the 4 nans didn't arrive, called the restaurant and asked for them to be refunded as we had our food, was told they couldn't do that as the manager wasn't in and they would send them despite me not wanting them. We had our starters and left the mains until the nans arrived, when they did we found out one of the meals was missing,there was 5 trays as ordered not realising the chicken tikka came separately and was missing. Called the restaurant again and asked them to refund it to be told they couldn't and would be with us as a priority within 20min. After an hour I called again and was told it was on its way but aggressively told this is your fault anyway as you should have checked your meals the first time there was an issue, explained we did and there was 5 trays sent only to be hung up on. 30 mins passed with still no meal for my dad so we called again only to be told he'd now send it. Received at 7.30, 3.5hours after first ordered, really ruined our meal everyone eating at different times and the attitude of the restaurant,will never use again!

Tiniest pakora I’ve ever seen. This was supposed to be a large portion. Raw and doughy inside. Not properly cooked. Terrible.

Terrible service. Order over 2 hours late. Phoned multiple times to chase, multiple times was lied to re orders being out for delivery. Still yet to receive. Do not recommend.

I remember when the bay leaf first opened, food was amazing, I raved about it to everyone but this place has had a major fall from grace. I had a poor meal about 6 or 6 months ago and put it down to being a one off but decided to give it another go last night but was majorly disappointed. Ordered a railway curry which is my favourite dish from the place, flavour was spot on but the potatoes were majorly undercooked and the amount of lamb was shocking, its cut into tiny pieces which I had 6 of in total, it was a challenge to find them as they're is so much sauce meaning it was more of a railway broth than anything. My partner got the saag paneer which again used to be lovely but last night it was watery and bland another disappointment. Last but not least was the chicken tikka chasnai, from other local establishments one chasnai will feed my 2 daughters, this chasnai struggled to feed my 6 year old daughter on her own. For the high price I'd expect an adequate amount of meat in the meals like when the bay leaf first opened. Gutted to say I probably won't be back unless I hear its improved.

Ordered via Uber. Hour late in arriving. Food was cold. No sauce for any of the 3 pakoras - called and said they would bring sauce, didn't arrive. This used to be an awesome takeaway, really poor now

First time trying takeaway from here. Really nice tikka kebabs and the pizza was outstanding. Definitely recommend.

Use the bay leaf a lot but tonight not impressed at all ordered 2 pizzas to save cooking placed order at 5.25 pizzas arrived 6.50 after a phone call, but the pizzas were stone cold so have had to heat them up defeating the whole point of getting them only 1☆ because I had to 😒😒

Have used Bayleaf for years. Food has always been great…. The delivery times have always been a bit sketchy, however recently the service has went seriously down hill. Items missing from order, contacted Bayleaf and they chose to completely ignore me. Delivered items were cold.

I use this takeaway quite a lot and usually the food is nice. However, tonight, I got a lamb bhoona and was extremely disappointed with it. The lamb was tough and nowhere near it's usual standard.

Delivery late ,pakora lukewarm , Bhaji nothing to write home about ,biryani bland . Do think we’ll be back .

Favourite place for pizza and the best pakora

Do not order from here. I had a bad experience before, I ordered a pepperoni pizza and they delivered me a margerita, thought I'd try again and they done the EXACT same thing. Both times I've phoned up I've been speaking to about 3 different people on the phone each as incoherent as the next. I was eventually given the correct order after another hour of waiting at which point the delivery driver asked for the old pizza back and told me the owner wanted it back. No doubt to resell it. Avoid!

This is not what you call a dosa. Just gave mix veg filled inside it with no Sambhar, no chutney nothing. No wonder the price was less but atleast make a dosa like a dosa. The veg Parantha was fine still not served with any side. How is one supposed to eat a dry Parantha without any yogurt or any sauce? Pathetic experience. Never ordering again!!!

Will never order again, had a couple of bad experiences here but thought we’d try again…wrong toppings on pizza (no spicy chicken on a spicy chicken pizza - what?!) , food lukewarm (despite being 2min from restaurant), chicken tikka loaded fries were dry & cold. Tried phoning the restaurant straight away but they would not pick up our calls. Very disappointing, not cheap either. Save your money & go elsewhere, there’s much better takeaways locally!

AVOID AND SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!! A hour and half for a delivery when its 10 mins away in car, food arrived luke warm if you could call it that i had to reheat meals for the family shocking! DEFINETLY VERY OVER PRICED BETTER TAKEAWAYS COSTING LESS!

Ordered a chicken tikka wrap and waited 15min inside shop only to then be handed a cold chapati and cold chicken tikka.. when questioned was told its the salad which makes it cold. Never to return as owner did or said nothing to rectify. I mean even take it back to microwave at least as I was eating inside haha. Do not go.... over priced also.

I love a tandoori mix grill and usually buy from Bayleaf - however it can be a bit hit and miss. Usually the portions are decent but then line tonight - the lamb chops were over cooked with hardly any meat - bone mostly. Then to make matters worse - the chicken tikka were sliced up into a few small parts instead of the usual good size 3 tikka portions Not what I would expect

Food was late, cold, and rotten. Wouldn't have served up the kebab to a dog! Will never use again.

Waited 2 hours for a delivery and the food was cold I wouldn’t normally write a bad review but when called to advise Paul the manager wouldn’t refund the order said he would replace the order but at this point everyone was haangry normally the food and delivery is spot on! Not sure what went wrong tonight but two hours to wait is ridiculous n then saying he could send another order in 15 mins made no sense also a dosa is not meant to be a fried roti so i wouldn’t advertise that on the menu as one full of oil

I always use bay leaf as there food is usually beautiful I’d go as far to say the best Indian in glasgow. We use bay leaf every week. But tonight when I got to the bottom of my pakora I found the box had loads of holes in it!! And it made me feel sick to my stomach. Looks like mice have chewed it? Or possibly it could be melted. I don’t know. Either way it is disgusting and I don’t know why someone would have proceeded to use it. I am annoyed because I paid for my order with cash through JUSTEAT. If I had paid by card I would have claimed the money back. Extremely disappointed.

I worked there for one day they told me they'll pay me 5£ph which is lower than minimum wage but anyway they were so dirty they were touching everything by hand and kitchen was very dirty.

Fantastic. Great service. Tasty curries. We used the buffet platters giving everyone plenty of choice.

Have been ordering with them for 5 years pleased with their quality but when called as it was late was first told it was on the way, 20 minutes went nothing called again to be told it would be going out in 10 minutes. So I was lied and worst was no apology, very rude when dealing with customers. They lost a loyal one.

Food is OK, but customer service is shocking. Delivery over an hour and a half late, took multiple attempts to phone before somebody finally answered and then mislead on multiple occasions on when food was arriving. Won't be using again

Great Indian takeaway food, I drive by other Indian restaurants to get takeaway from this one. Love their Chicken Tikka Karahi. Highly recommended, staff are alway on good form.

I would say Good Quality, Good Quantity and I specially called back to say thanks to the chef for the amazing authentic taste meal. The best one tasted since last 2 years of moving to Bearsden. Well done to the owners for using paper packaging helping the environment.

Avoid this place now, after I saw some very unpleasant sights out the back. Will never be back. I’ve seen pakora lying in trays, uncovered, out the back. I’ve also seen food being prepared out the back, on a manky table. Pakora sits out there for hours, and there’s mice, rats and birds around that area, so who knows what’s had a nibble at the stuff. The area out the back is very unhygienic, and to leave food out there is absolutely shocking. How this place is allowed to carry on is beyond me. I’m surprised there’s not been a food poisoning outbreak caused by this place. Best going to Ashoka, anywhere is better than this place. Dodgy business this place

Ordered 2 takeaways recently, Both arrived freezing cold, The second one took over 2 hours from ordering until delivery, Called to see where the food was and the guys advice was if ordering in future order from a friends house closer to the shop. Will not be ordering again.

Best Indian take away in Bearsden and Milngavie

Had a take-away last night for the first time and it was absolutely beautiful! 10/10 for everything . Chicken Tikka korma was the best I’ve ever had. Garlic nan bread and chicken Bhuna were both packed with flavour and spices, so tasty . All round absolutely restaurant standard and best Indian food I’ve ever had in my life ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏

If I had to live on one meal for the rest of my life it would be Bay Leaf's Chicken Makhani (butter chicken). Everything pales in insignificance!

Got a chicken korma. The chicken was very moist and tasty. Best chicken I have ever had. Recomend this place to anyone who likes chicken korma.

Great takeaway. Have used the Bayleaf a few times now and never disappointed. Food is always fresh and delicious, and portion sizes are great! Everything we have tried on the menu has been superb. And the staff are always friendly and happy to help! Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I love good Indian food but I'm quite picky about where I order from but as my normal place was closed I thought I'd give Bay Leaf a try. I must say, I was extremely impressed by the taste and quality of the food at Bay Leaf. I ordered an Achari and a Butter Chicken and they were both out of this world. My new favourite indian takeaway I think!

Ordered a delivery last night. Both meals were inedible due to the amount of salt. This is the 2nd time the food has been over salty and had to be thrown out Very dissapointed as food is usually very good. Unfortunately this has happened twice

Not quite my local ,but I do drive here to pick up my meal. Would definitely recommend this place. I got a chicken korma and it was one of the tastiest I’ve had.

Pedimos el pollo chasni y el pollo makhani y ambos estaban absolutamente deliciosos. . . ¡Siempre pido pollo chasni cada vez que voy a un restaurante indio y este es el mejor hasta ahora! ! El arroz de laurel también era muy sabroso, al igual que las cebollas condimentadas. La entrega fue muy rápida y nuestra comida estaba caliente y fresca. No puedo esperar para pedir más la próxima vez :)

Have used this takeaway almost exclusively since discovering it. Food is always really good, ordering online is simple and is always ready to collect at the requested time. Favourite for me is the Tava - truly terrific taste!!

Regularly get deliveries from Bay Leaf and they never disappoint. Menu is good value and even better when using a set meal deal, food tastes great and delivery is usually within a decent time. As a bonus, you can build up points for money off future orders.

The food is really fresh and tasty. Service was quick. Love their Saag Paneer.

Order from here frequently. Slightly more expensive than others, but excellent food every time. In fact , thinking about it, I'm just going to pay a visit this evening.

Mi comida para llevar habitual está cerrada durante 2 semanas debido a una aflicción, por lo que probamos aquí y no nos decepcionó, ahora tuvimos 4 pedidos la semana pasada y todos han sido los mejores en cuanto a calidad de alimentos y velocidad de entrega. Un poco más caro que nuestro lugar habitual, pero no me importa pagar más si es de calidad

Livid! Get this pizza regularly and this time they sent it with DAIRY cheese! Tried to call them about it and they argued with me it was vegan cheese...it certainly isn’t, vegan cheese DOES NOT solidify when the pizza is cold never mind still warm, I know what vegan cheese is like, it’s awful compared to real cheese but it’s my choice to eat!!!!! Will not be going back and will be warning others.....if you have an allergy or a food preference please don’t order from here as they don’t care!

Hemos utilizado este lugar con bastante frecuencia durante el último año, por lo que conocemos la comida bastante bien. Una cosa que realmente nos gusta es que hay muy poca grasa en comparación con la mayoría de los alimentos para llevar y no es necesario drenar el aceite que normalmente se encuentra en la parte superior antes de comer. El nan siempre es excelente, pakora, sin embargo, sabe que se compró y es muy pobre. A veces las cebollas con especias son tan picantes que casi no se pueden comer y podemos comer la mayoría de las comidas picantes. Hemos encontrado que las raciones, especialmente la de cordero, son un poco pequeñas y, aunque he hablado con el restaurante anteriormente, el tamaño de la ración aún no ha mejorado. Nos gustaría este lugar, pero se queda corto en varios aspectos y realmente no parece una buena relación calidad-precio. En el lado positivo, el personal es amable y servicial, y la entrega siempre ha sido rápida. Va a ser Comer en Bearsden Cross para nosotros en el futuro. Lástima, Bearsden necesita una comida para llevar de primera clase.

Personalmente, quiero agradecer a los chicos por las últimas 3 comidas que les pedimos. Una vez probamos una comida hace un par de años en una fiesta y luego otra vez en Navidad el año pasado y la calidad de los platos es excepcional.

Hace poco me mudé a Glasgow y escuché grandes cosas sobre la comida india de Glasgow. Mi compañero de piso me recomendó la hoja de laurel y nunca me ha fallado.

¿Fue por primera vez después de escuchar en la vid que la comida era buena y de ver el cartel afuera reclamando un premio? ? Pedimos pakora de verduras pero obtuve goujons de pollo secos no comestibles. El pollo en el biriyani era seco y prácticamente incomible. Barra 2 pedacitos de la pakora y una pequeña cantidad de biriyani, todo fue a la papelera, ya que no valía la pena mientras viajaba de regreso desde Milngavie para quejarme. En realidad no hay mucho más que decir aparte de que no volveré por más.

Intrigued by the Best Curry in Scotland award, we tried this place for the first time. It certainly offers freshly cooked tasty food and has a good range of options including fish and prawn mains plus pooris and dosas. Vegetable pakora is just average. They use the shallow containers for main course carry outs, so there`s only just enough for one person. We`ll give it another go sometime but I`m not convinced yet that their award is fully justified.

My real choice in Bearsden for a takeaway curry. Cooked fresh and fantastic flavours and the owners and staff are very friendly offering Coffee while you wait. Fantastic.

Very pleasant wee place, popped in for a small bite and a cuppa. They don't serve hot drinks apparently, however, as it was so cold outside they made us tea anyway! How lovely was that? We had mixed pakora and that was delicious 😋. There's nowhere nearby, that I'm aware of, that serves tea /coffee. Maybe there's not a lot of passing trade but that's what's missing from this wee row of shops I think 🤔

This is a nice wee friendly place to eat in or takeaway. Even has milkshakes that i would highly recommend. Its a nice clean and tidy place to eat. It has a clean and well kept toilet too. The prices are fare and well matched with the quality of the food. Friendly staff with a warm welcome. Keep up the good work Bay Leaf. 👍

One of the best curries i've had in a long time. Lamb bhuna is excellent as is the korma. Pakora nothing special. Ordered a delivery on Saturday night but ended up cancelling after waiting 2 hours. Such a pity they let themselves down.

Thoroughly enjoyable takeaway. Nice quality food. I had chicken jaipuri which was delicious. My only small criticism - it could have been served a little hotter, although it wasn't by any means cold. Excellent polite and efficient service. Nice ambience about the place even though it was a takeaway I ordered rather than a sit in.

Great taste and generous servings make this place a number 1 option for me currently. Varied menu with traditional options as well as unusual ones. Very tasty and recommended.

Top quality fresh food. A wee bit more expensive than other takeaways but great food

Bay Leaf is more of an exciting take away restaurant with some 4 internal tables and two external tables for those that love a breath of fresh air! The menu offers a large choice of curries, and there are also two refrigerated display cabinets, one full of delicious flavours of ice cream and one with cold drinks. Easy wheelchair access.

Este restaurante muy frecuentemente utilizado para llevar a cabo desde que se abrió. Inicialmente un soplo de aire fresco, pero después de muchos malas experiencias, no estoy preparado para seguir apoyando. Colmo esta noche, plato que falta de nuevo. Sólo 2 platos principales ordenados por lo que debe haber sido un sencillo orden. Falta mezcla tandoori. Reservamos en línea y usuario del sitio v amable. Cuando abrió la entrega y llamó de nuevo el propietario/gerente pidió disculpas. Remplazo de comida muy pronto, pero en su mayoría no comestible. Muy quemados. Sospecho que mi plato inicial o no fue despachada y permaneció hasta que llamé o cocinar fue descubierto posiblemente en el coche entrega y recalentadas vigorosamente. En cualquier caso, si yo era la persona a cargo, haber hecho un error una vez, estaría todo el reemplazo para asegurarse de que era perfecto. Una vez más muchas cosas positivas, pero la mala atención, la inconsistencia y la falta de control de calidad significa que no volveré. Mi esposa no estaba demasiado impresionado con su plato.
