Barsito Tapas Bar in Lambeth

What a lovely underrated special place this is tucked away in the corner of Venn street. Popped in on a Saturday night in a whim because we fancied having something nice. I love tapas as it’s a great interactive sharing experience and wonderful for a Saturday night casual date. Trying to do spontaneous dinner within a hour on Sat Eve in London is always a nightmare but here we found it easy to get a table at 7:30pm. NB: It definitely got busier by 8:30pm with queues starting to form. Barsito don’t take reservations on Friday or Saturday evening and it’s clear to see why. Wine - Went for a bottle of Paso A Paso Tempranillo - was nice. Food - *Totally delicious!* We loved every single plate. (Well, all bar one which was okay but the others blew it out the water) all plates came out fairly quickly in quick succession, so we should probably have staggered our orders a little more, in hindsight! We ordered: + Bread - to mop up the various sauces - a must + Gambas al Ajilio - Prawns, garlic and chilli sauce - always a staple! + Patatas Bravas - potato chopped up into small cubes, in a tomato sauce and some Aioli on top! Again, a must. + Croquetas de Jamón - Ham Croquettes with aioli again. A must! + Meatballs - Pork and beef meatballs in tomato sauce, and some more potatoes slices underneath. Good. + “Heaven on a plate” - soft Ox Cheek with yup more slices of potatoes and delicious sauce. - deffo get this. It’s clear the meat had been slow cooking for a while as it was very delicate and juicy, soaking up the sauces. + Sardines - Boneless Sardines, with balsamic vinegar, on soft bread with tomato and olive oil base. Side of rocket. - must get this. + Special - Rabbit with Sweet Potato. - this was the special for the evening - it was okay, but it was a little overdone and not quite to our taste. But hey, one out of literally everything else is a great score sheet! Prices are really reasonable when sharing for two, we ate all the above, plus a bottle of wine and service which came to just under £100. Service was great, they checked in on us at the right times and were very nice. Left feeling very full and very content! Definitely pop in to Barsito the next time you’re in Clapham.

Lovely and cosy place, the food is very nice and the staff as well. However, the tortilla has to improve. No estaba melosa, de hecho estaba recalentada. Overall, very good!

Lovely tapas bar in Clapham, my favourite place I’ve been to in the area. The food was so authentic and incredibly delicious. Great atmosphere and excellent service from the staff. I will definitely be coming back!

I stumbled across this little gem last weekend with my bestie. We both love tapas and was in Clapham for a meeting. How amazing is the food here? 10/10 and I like to think of myself as a tapas conisuer! The pork cheeks with sherry were to die for! We sat near the bar where we chatted to the lovely bar tender for ages! He's amazing & so so funny. Will definitely be going back!!

What a wonderful gem of a tapas bar, service was great, attentive and friendly, food is absolutely delicious with many specials to chose from. It’s my favourite tapas bar to visit, I’ve now tried numerous fabulous dishes, carefully chosen and created menu by the artist owner Valentina . A Definitely Must Bar to visit for both food and wine. The food was not good at all! I actually got food poisoning from the gambas al ajillo. Even when we took a bite I could see the prawns weren’t good and we didn’t eat the rest. All the food was poor. It came out 90 seconds after we ordered so you knew it was just sat on a hot plate ready to take out. Would not recommend.

Very poor quality tapas - gambas prawns were rushed out with chorizo poorly cooked & tasting funny. Food poisoning not fun! V poor for a £90 dinner. Pop in for wine, not for tapas.

What a fabulous little gem of a place I stumbled upon over the weekend, really helpful and friendly staff, great food to match accompanied by a lovely glass of 2 of wine, I will most definitely be paying you guys a visit again soon.

Had grilled calamari and a walnut/blue cheese salad. Calamari was delicious, salad wasn’t anything to write home about/pretty standard Spent £20 incl service no alcohol

Great food and really good atmosphere. I wasn’t drinking alcohol due to Sober October which was a shame as the red wine looked lovely. We had loads of dishes for the 3 of us: meatballs, pork cheek, anchovies, potatoes, tortilla, special of aubergine and cauliflower (not a big fan of aubergine but it was very tasty) and the best of all the chorizo. Too full for dessert !! And all for a great price. Waitress was friendly too. Would highly recommend

Im very impres with barsito tapas bar my boyfriend took me there this evening as i love tapas and the porkcheeks and spinach croquetas was delicioso, very reasonable prizes and sizes comparing with anothers spanish restaurant in london , i love the decoration , service was good , overall a great experience i very much recomended!!

First time in Barsito, and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The food is to die for. IT WAS LUSH!! The service we received was great, and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us a fabulous experience.

I can’t believe this place has 4 stars…absolutely the worst tapas place I’ve ever encountered…there’s no point in booking, as the manager does not pay no attention to bookings nor have a polite attitude about it. The food is okay but not worth the money. Very small platters for the prices we paid for.. some dishes Ive seen that they use the microwave for such as the tortilla. when I asked the man about the wines, he didn’t have a clue and is very loud when talking to other customers. I kept hearing “I’m gay” a lot and when I tried to get his attention, he kept talking to this one table in particular…Honestly this is such a small restaurant that it shouldn’t be so hard to have some decent customer service. There’s only one cubicle which smelt a lot and the floors were wet. Having heels on I almost slipped and held on to the sink. I’m from Amsterdam and I came down to London to see a friend. But never will I ever come back here again!

I would give this place 0 stars if that was possible… the manager on duty was extremely rude to our group after they had made the mistake of not noting down our booking and he did not sincerely apologise at all but instead was very sarcastic. He in essence was placing blame on us and had such a bad attitude. We decided to walk out of the restaurant to another place nearby and spent well over £500 so that’s Barsito’s loss. Having read other reviews prior to writing my own, I have realised the rude and poor attitude is consistent at this restaurant. Don’t waste your money here, go anywhere else!

If I could leave a review for no stars I would. Terrible service. We booked a table for 8 people which was confirmed by the restaurant. Once we turned up they denied knowledge of the booking despite a confirmation email. The man with the shaved head was horribly rude. Not only did he insinuate that it was our fault, he did not apologise or offer anything to us whilst we were waiting. To be fair, we were seated inside within 15 minutes. However, no one came to take our order for 20 minutes. When I tried to talk to this gentleman, he was incredibly rude and dismissive. I have never been spoken to like this. The only saving grace was the young lady behind the bar with the curly hair. I never leave a review, however I have been left feeling so angry and offended that I feel the need to write something. Save your money and do not go here.

We had booked a table for 8 people, the owner had taken the booking and we had email confirmation. The lady initially greeted us and apologised as the booking was not noted. However, a bald man (assume the manager) came round and told us it would be 10 mins and said he would provide free drinks due to the inconvenience. However, all this time he did not apologise for their mistake and once we sat down he took back his offer of free drinks with an extremely rude attitude and did not care at all. Upon leaving we spoke to him and he had an extremely sassy and sarcastic attitude. I would not visit this place ever again, all 8 of us walked out and went to the Moroccan restaurant a couple restaurants down the road.

Don’t bother booking. Absolutely ridiculous service. Rude, didn’t reserve our booking. Apologised and said they would give us free drinks and then retracted because said we only waited a little while. Rude service from one bald man in particular. Did not take ownership and will not come back again! I never leave reviews but this one was worth making!

My experience at barsito was amazing! My friend and I went on a Friday night, we managed to find a seat outside and had a warm reception from the staff throughout the night. Quick service and great atmosphere around the place. I particularly recommend the jamon and cheese croquettes - being a frequent visitor in Spain I have always tried to find croquettes that can compare and these were perfection!

In Tooting Broadway Market, but you can sit outside and stay dry and warm nomatter whatever the weather

So rare to find genuine, Spanish tapas...and more! So many great dishes to choose from...the pigs cheek are my favourite..so tender and tasty! Great atmosphere and lovely staff...what not to like!

Had the best time enjoying venn street outside on a balmy summer’s evening. Great selection of wines, excellent service and tapas to die for; try the ‘heaven on a plate’ pork cheek, you will not be disappointed. Really felt looked after and well fed!

This place is such a gem on Venn Street. The food is honestly to die for, the serving staff are patient and friendly, and they found a table for us on a busy, balmy evening to enjoy the evening’s sunshine. Highly recommended. You must try the ‘heaven on a plate’ as it is exactly what it describes

Food was good, nothing incredible but nice enough but the service let us down. The manager told off our server twice for sitting at the bar and not taking plates to tables. Was difficult to get any service, asked twice for tap water had to go to the bar myself and get it in the end. Generally a bad attitude to working which isn't nice to be around when you're paying £35 a head...

Food is good (nothing to remember) and super expensive. Service is really really bad…the waiters have got an attitude like “I’m doing this because I’m obliged to”, so indolent, and first time in my life I pay the bill and no “thank you” neither “bye” or whatever. Hope the owner is happy to know and can pay attention to this, since the place doesn’t deserve this service.

Yes cozy, friendly, quick service and lively. Pros: nice king prawns. Good wine list. Cons: Black ink rice was not seafoody enough, 4 rings of squid and prawn (er, £13!) and a LOT of potato used in dishes like the vaguely ham croquettes. Chorizo sausages - basic quality, had a lot better, quite basic alioli used in/on just about everything. It's all a bit paired back on the quality/value verging on the cheeky (probably because the 'millenial' clientelle don't realise they are being ripped). Way better than a chain restaurant, tho' to put it in perspctive. I personally think the chef-ing quality could be better, lazily slapping alioli into everything is not great for variety of flavour (the whole remit of tapas!). Wine list and concept is good. Overall; an expensive, buzzy, friendly early evening experience, not sure I would return (unless they up the real garlic and spices), but I'm not a millenial who doesn't yet know better. ;)

Disappointing. We were rushed to order and to leave as the staff wanted to close 1h30 early as the place was not busy. We felt unwelcomed.

Brilliant restaurant!! Went here on Saturday evening, the staff were super friendly and recommended us some wine. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The calamari was to die for! The prices were pretty good and the wine was stunning. I 100% recommend this place, Thankyou so much to the amazing staff on Saturday night, thanks for making our Saturday so lovely! I’ll definitely be back.

Really cosy friendly vibes inside, food was pretty good. The noises of microwave binging and microwave doors slamming put me off a little however 😂

A very good tapas place with lots of delicious dishes to choose from and the place also has a nice selection of Spanish wines to pair your menu choices with. Definitely try and book the place if you can because the seating space is very tight! It was so tight that we had to take turns to move our elbows to actually eat.

What a gorgeous little Tapas spot nestled on Venn Street. My mother, partner and I visited early on Saturday evening - circa 6pm. Greeted with a friendly face, our experience was absolutely lovely. The decor inside is very reminiscent of places I’ve been to in Seville so there was some authenticity to the place. The food was absolutely delightful and the staff were very honest in the number of dishes that we should have - there was no up or over selling which is a welcome relief in places with small dishes. The tortilla and chorizo was the star of the show for us. With service and a bottle and a half of wine, the bill was a very modest £95 and we left with smiles on our faces. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

It's ok. Couple of hot dished came out near cold. We had to ask 3 times for our bread and olives which came towards the end of the meal. Some dishes were nice, some not so good, i.e cod fritters, small, lacking taste and expensive . Overall over priced and for me over rated.

Wasn't amazed by the food. Was a bit bland, in my opinion. Cozy environment and good service though.

Best authentic tapas in London!

What a lovely find! We had no idea what to expect. The pork cheek was beautiful tender had a lovely sweetness to it. Perfectly cooked prawns on the paella Was recommended a lovely white wine to go with the meal. Would 100% come back again. I left a very happy lady

Clapham has loads of places to eat so a restaurant needs to be good to survive. Barsito seems to attract both occasional visitors like us plus many regulars. The menu choice is similar to most tapas places and portion sizes are good for sharing. Prices are fair, including the wine list, and service is very cheerful and efficient. If I lived in Clapham this would be one of my regular haunts. Keep up the good work!

Amazing place! The atmosphere is really unique, the food is proper Spanish food with a great variety of tapas and a good selection of Spanish wines. One of my favourite spots ever in Clapham!

A sweet little spot. Drinks are strong and food is spectacular. The flavors of the tapas are out of this world. I would definitely suggest this spot for a date night or a night out with the girls/lads. I will be returning soon.

Found the food and drinks expensive for what we received. Additional service charge also seemed expensive considering that all ordering was done via QR codes on the table. Wouldn't recommend.

Venn Street is a great spot for outdoor dining on a warm evening and the tapas here was great! We went for the sharing board and then had some extra croquettes (delicious) and the goats cheese special (also delicious). The sharing board is very well priced, staff were very attentive and friendly. We will be back! ☺️

Great food and wine at decent prices. Service could have been better, though - we never got the bottle of water we requested, and a waiter came round to tell us that the kitchen was closing, but too late to place any final orders which made it seem a bit pointless.

The best tapas restaurant you will find in SW London. The food is incredibly tasty. The patatas bravas and chorizo are particularly amazing. 5/5

The best Spanish restaurant ever! Really cosy and decorated by a proper artist. I really love this place and the amazing staff! Especially Stephanie! They are part of the family now! That's why we decided to have our wedding party in Barsito in December 2019! They now have a big outdoor space in the most beautiful street in Clapham!

Nice staff but bad food Everything swimming in oil, chickpea dish is tasteless and spinach over cooked. Calamari didn’t taste fresh. Tomato salad was nice but could make the same at home for 1/10th of the price. Do not recommend

Excellent food, beer, wine and pacheran. Attentive and cheerful service. When it started to rain, the waitress rushed outside to distribute umbrellas. Recommended.

Good quality food but is too expensive and the portions are very small. In my view this is more of a place for the apertive time where to have a glass of wine and some nibbles before going to dinner, rather than a restaurant. Unless you spend a fortune don't expect to leave filled up.

I went to have lunch with my boyfriend and absolutely loved the place and let’s not talk about the food!! Absolutely delicious. Only down side was that it was cold and the heaters were not working where we were seating. Staff was amazingly nice and professional.

My girlfriend and I came here for a date, we loved although the food was a bit pricey food quality was still good, could have a few more heaters as we were cold but other than that brilliant

Was wondering through Venn St on a Friday evening & Barsito had a few free tables. Stopped to just get a couple of drinks but was tempted by their tapas. Ended up staying for a couple of hours trying various things on the menu. Was good value & will be going back

The food is really expensive for something that isn’t that great. You end up finishing hungry, but not willing to spend money on anything else. Sad because I did love the outdoor seating and vibe, but probably won’t be back.

I went with my partner for dinner and we ordered tortilla, prawns and croquetas. The food was obviously frozen and no tasty at all and the bar staff were rude when we complain.Wont repeat!

The place has a very nice and cosy atmosphere, inside and out. Service was good as well, however unfortunately the food was not good, in fact we didn’t even finish the gambas in garlic. Specifically, most of the dishes seemed to lack flavour, and did not seem to be very fresh. The daily special (seabass) was very tasty indeed, however the overall food and drinks experience was not good at all, and it came with a rather high price tag. Would not recommend.

I love this place. Been a fan for a few years now and finally decided to share my review :). Every time I go there I feel like I’m in my grandmas kitchen chatting with family or I’m at my friends house. The place is so cute, cozy and has a ton of character! The food is really really good! Can’t never pick a favourite. The wine is also delicious! Seriously my favourite place for a bite and a glass :) The staff is friendly and helpful. You can tell that owner really cares about their customers and customer experience and brings the best to this place! Recommend for dates and friendly catchups with your friends.

Stumbled past this place and the food looked good...and it tasted good too! Tasty, light and uncomplicated tapas. Octopus was perfectly cooked, croquettes delicious and rich, tortilla served warm was fab. And the churros for pud was perfect light finished to an unexpected meal. The staff were very friendly and looked after us. Our cockapoo was allowed outside and the servers looked after her and showered attention.

Chill Spanish tapas bar in the Clapham old town, with plenty of space to sit outside. Perfect for a warm weather (once in a blue moon in London).

No customer service at all. You have to discover on your on how to wait for a table... if your food was ordered , if the food has finished and if u ask you are treated as “ how can u dare ? Can’t u see we are busy” - also check if they are charging you the right thing on the bill - this is how I will describe my first experience here.... FOOD IS GOOD but experienced waiters are needed!

Great service and very welcoming. Catch of the day was weirdly named but great tasting. Let us play cards outside and was a generally nice atmosphere. Will be coming back again.

My boyfriend took me to barsito for dinner and absolutely loved it , food was delicious we had few specials, the black rice paella was amazing , good size portion tapas, great wine selection , cheese board with sweet sherry for deserve was super, i love that they have big terrace its great for summer and after covid, i cant wait to go back , highly recommend !!

We went here for lunch on a Saturday food is amazing apart from the Calamari which is not fresh but frozen which the were very apolagetic about and took stright of the bill so order everything else apart from this as the food is realy realy good.

My word this place is expensive for what it is. We were charged £95 for two very small jugs of Sangria and some tapas which including croquettes from a packet and some rather mushy previously frozen prawns. The waitress smelled strongly of smoke which was rather off putting. We had eaten at Tsunami the week before for a similar price and had some of the best food in London. Will not be back and suspect some of the reviews below were written by mates.

Real surprise.Booked by my daughter when we visited her in London.Good choices available on menu and we all chose something different and shared.Good value for money and would go back.Downstairs dinning would be my preference again.The upstairs doesn't do the place justice.

Lovely tapas bar that provides the quaint Spanish experience, enabling you to forgot how close to Infernos you actually are. Food and wine was fantastic at a good price.

Nos gustan las tapas aquí. Es rápido y fácil venir de 3 a 4 platos pequeños entre 2 personas y una copa de vino. El personal es muy útil. A pesar de lo lleno que esté el restaurante, el personal siempre nos encontrará en algún lugar para sentarnos. Un buen lugar para ponerse al día con amigos. ¡Prueba los martinis y ginebra que se ofrecen! El lichi y el violeta son deliciosos.

Este es fácilmente mi restaurante favorito en Clapham. La comida y el vino son de excelente calidad y tienen una buena relación calidad-precio. El lugar es pintoresco y amable y el personal es afable y divertido. En este rango de precios, no creo que ningún otro lugar en Clapham esté a la altura de sus estándares. Los contratiempos se llenan mucho y es pequeño, por lo que no siempre puedes disfrutarlo cuando lo deseas.

Absolutely wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere. Accidentally left some musical equipment here but I knew it was safe with these guys, they noticed right away and waited for my call. Great mulled wine. To the two ladies from Friday night 06.12.19, you're so great!
