Food well over priced, poor selection of beer, and half the menu not available. Waist of money and time, not to forget the cancellation fee for a bar and grill. Get real!!! £10 per person for a Saturday night

Sunday roast was nice, although the presentation was not very good, and not very hot. Service was very slow and for dessert we had 4 fruit crumbles and a waffle that served to us cold. When they came back, they were only just warm, very little custard and far too much crumble topping that wasnt very cumbly. Overall dissapointing as my daughter had picked Barringtons for the Sunday roast for her birthday.

Ive left a review on trip advisor for this resteraunt as i was extremely impressed. Great service, great food, great everything. The staff are excellent in fact if there is a word better than " excellent " then thats the staff. The food exceptionally good and the ribs, oh my god the ribs, so much meat and the flavour. I loved the seasoning on the fries, burgers were beautiful and a home made cheesecake, how many resteraunts make home made desserts now. In fact we over ordered on food as i just wanted everything, we was going to bring it home to have later, we put it in a takeaway box and then forgot it. Im still sulking now. Exceptionally fantastic resteraunt.

Fantastic night at Barringtons last night, food and service was excellent, reasonably priced too. Will definitely be returning.

Disappointing birthday meal. I wanted to go to Barrington's to celebrate my birthday with my family for Sunday lunch. We'd been before a couple of years ago and had a lovely experience, however, it was really not as good this time. We were greeted and seated quickly and with a couple of the party stuck in traffic, joined about 10 minutes later which gave us some time to look at the menus. Drinks orders were taken promptly once the full party arrived. The glasses the cocktails came in were very basic and slightly unexpected shapes but drinks tasted nice which was the main thing. From this point our table was largely ignored. It took a further 20 minutes to order food from this point and had to flag down a waitress to do this. Food orders taken nicely and staff were polite. Sunday lunches came out well and on the whole were good. Roast potatoes were pretty hard and had clearly been kept on a hot plate for a while. Wouldn't recommend the cauliflower cheese as a side, £5.50 for four pieces of undercooked cauliflower in a thin 'cheesy' sort or milky sauce. Otherwise food was good. No one checked back on us to see how the food was throughout the meal despite the waitresses not being particularly busy for the duration of the meal but it wasn't until we'd finished that we really started having issues. No one came to take our plates away at all for about 20 minutes after finishing. We ended up catching a waitress's attention to ask for dessert menus, which we got only two menus for a table of 6 people? And then she only took three people's plates before disappearing to run another table's food. So we still had gravy filled plates in front of half the table for a further 5 minutes whilst trying to pass around two menus for all of us. Eventually a different waitress took the rest of our plates with our desserts order. The desserts, wow... Four of the party ordered the berry crumble with custard. After waiting 25 minutes for desserts by, which point people around us that had come in after us were already finished since they were served significantly faster than us, the deserts came out... Almost completely cold. Cold crumble and cold custard. Not sure how after 25 minutes since our order but we immediately sent them back and the waiting staff apologised. The other two parties ordered ice cream and the waffle with ice-cream, in which the waffle was also completely cold despite saying on the menu it was served hot. By this point we just ate the waffle to avoid further issues sending food back. About 10 minutes later the crumbles reappeared. The same ones just 'reheated', with the custard on top, so had of course formed a horrible skin on top which was extremely unappetising. The crumbles were so dense that they were difficult to break up, very little berry filling in 3 of the 4 desserts, not enough custard for such a dry dessert and was still just about warm in temperature. The waitress took two of the crumbles off the bill for us because honestly they were not nice at all. Overall very disappointing experience and didn't feel like much of a celebration meal.

First time at Barringtons and will definitely be returning. The food was amazing and was possibly the best steak that I've ever had. I find it hard to understand why so many people comment on the age of the waiting staff, they were absolutely spot on and nothing was to much. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I'm looking forward to my next meal there.

Nice unplanned birthday meal for my teenager on 1st feb, food was nice, ate far too much, but only ourselves to blame there lol! Starters nicer than mains which had a microwave edge to them I.e burgers not brilliant but all in enjoyable experience in a rainy quiet weekday night, nice casual atmosphere young girl who was running the front of house was absolutely lovely, attentive and friendly, epitome of good staff right there, thanks to her for a lovely Reception and good service and I hope she has a fabulous Thailand experience!

Our first time at Barrington,hoped for a good meal.....and it was exactly that Food was a real treat,we chose lots of small dishes from an array of wonderful choices. A good way of trying things like Ribs,potatoes,greens, palenta,chicken,peppers all tasty and filling. Desserts were excellent. I must say the young staff were happy and attentive,I hope the boss realises what an asset they really are. Can't fault anything......will definitely be back. Thanks Barrington !! .

Fab bottomless brunch, staff were amazing!

We had a great family meal for 3 tonight for my wife's birthday. The food was amazing for the price, and the service was just as good. I didn't get our hostess name, but I wish I had, as she truly made the night. She totally involved my son with every decision making and even went out her way to find him some crayons to do some colouring... Add to this that the wife got a free cocktail for her birthday, the whole experience was worth every penny.. If you're looking for a lovely independent restaurant with great drinks, food, parking and location then you can't go wrong. We'll be back very soon. Neil Card.

We have just devoured a Tomahawk steak here. It's was absolutely delicious...plenty for 2 people. We had a rack of ribs for starters , they also just fell off the bone. Honeycomb cheesecake finished off a lovely meal .....would love to see a cheeseboard on the menu as an alternative to a sweet dessert;) We were recommended this restaurant and will definitely be going back. An absolutely outstanding array of freshly cooked food. Friendly and attentive service and a nice atmosphere. Awesome place.

Food was very nice and didn’t wait long for it, probably because we were the only ones in there. I don’t know if it’s because it was a Sunday, or because it was super quiet but there was a severe lack of service. The girls serving were nice enough whilst asking for our orders but didn’t seem bothered about how our food was, if we needed another drink (we did) and didn’t even say goodbye to us once we paid our bill. We were also absolutely freezing sat by the door covered by curtains that were left open most of the time, it seems the front door doesn’t close properly? I don’t like to leave bad reviews and I feel the place has lots of potential but maybe just needs major tweaking in some areas.

I wasn't at all happy with the service I experienced today very rude meat tough swimming with gravy to the extent it was spilling out all over table she really didn't want to change my meal at all just said will bring you more meat I said it wasn't acceptable and if she didn't change it just take it away and take off the bill she went away tutting and bought a fresh meal wasn't great wouldn't go back. Do not expect to be treated like that very unhappy customer

Really disappointed this time had the Peruvian chicken just tasted like ordinary chicken and chips, no spices, and we sat by the door and it was freezing. Took our family from Manchester and they weren't impressed either. Won't be back for a while!

Such an awful experience. We arrived and our table wasn't ready which was fine as we took a seat at the bar. We were seated at our table around 30mins late. We were a table of 6 and sat upstairs near a very noisy table which would have been OK except the staff completely ignored us and focused entirely on them! We sat for 45mins and weren't even given menus, we had to help ourselves. Within 2 mins of us getting our own menus the staff then asked us if we were ready!! The food took around 30/40mins to come out and was completely average when it did. We weren't then offered a drink or even a dessert menu! Eventually we decided to leave and when we spoke to the person at the front to complain about our experience she suggested we should have been nosier like the other table as they got lots of drinks and desserts! She also blamed the fact that they employ lots of 16 and 17 year olds who can't work lots of shifts! No money off the bill and not even a suggestion of a drink to make up for it. The worst service I have ever experienced and would never want to go back.

If you’re over 20, prob not for you, especially for a Christmas get together. Large tables of people that were served copious amounts of alcohol making them very very noisy. Food is ok, our deserts weren’t very good- the chocolate orange sundae comprised of a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a couple of chocolate orange pieces on top. Unfortunately, won’t chance it again here.

Very tasty Sunday roast - the best that I have had in a restaurant in a long time. We were upstairs (quite steep), luckily the young waitresses seemed fit enough and very impressed with them not spilling anything on the way up.

Booked a table six weeks in advance and on arrival was kept waiting for ten minutes before a member of staff came over to take us to our table which was next to the toilet and was cold in that area. We ordered drinks and our food and the young waitress who was very nice came back to tell us there was no ribs for the combo then minutes later returned to say they only had one piece of chicken left for the four of us. As you can imagine we was not happy how can you run out of food for an eight o'clock booking. The restaurant needs some Tlc and all the staff looked like they had just left school no sign of any management. At this point we was told if u don't want to stay that's fine the drinks will be free. So we decided to leave and was lucky to get a table in the Rayleigh spicy where we had a fantastic meal. Thanks for the free drinks but won't be returning.

I couldn’t recommend this place enough. I made a booking through ‘Foodhub’ which hadn’t been recognised as a booking. However the girls juggled things around and managed to squeeze 7 of us in for dinner. Amazing service and lovely food! We will be back! Thank you Team!!

Really disappointing 😕 have been here twice before last year and couldn't fault the food, service and atmosphere. So booked table for 10 for a sixty birthday celebration with high hopes of a similar experience. Oh my what's has gone wrong? At least 3/4 of the menu not available, customers on different tables all complaining, staff were very unsure of how to cope and no management available only a poor young girl lumped with standing in! No one to greet at reception then when seated drinks took 20 minutes and some missing. At this point we were told menu hardly anything available. So 8.30 Saturday night 10 people we considered leaving but had little choice but to make do as no where else available. One of our guests gluten free, not even a gluten free bun. Food was just ok, garlic mushrooms no real flavour, steaks were all cooked well but fries were far too salty and chicken was very dry. We did negotiate a fare bit off the bill and were given free shots as compensation, but unfortunately this will not encourage me to return anytime soon. Such a shame, new management sort this out!

Saturday night, and they only have 3 of the 7 listed Steaks available. Poor. Steak I did have was nice though, but not what I actually was looking forward to. We chose Barringtons as I wanted a decent Fillet.. left disappointed. Atmosphere was tense as other tables were upset.

Me and my fiancé went to Barrintons for our first ever date night after our son was born. I booked the table in advance and had to give my card details before even ordering anything. They also sat us at the tiniest table next to the men’s bathroom door and the table where the waitresses sent the orders so we felt very over crowded and kind of pushed to the side. My partner had the steak which was amazing but I ordered ribs and they ended up being so tough that I had to use the steak knife to cut them. After that we ordered dessert, my partner burnt his mouth on the brownie because it was so hot, the ice cream had also melted. I ordered the sorbet and they came melted. The waitress just said sorry that they are melted and left the plate. The waitresses were also very underdressed and had body parts on show that where inappropriate for the restaurant. We won’t be back again for the price and no condolences for the poor food.

We went for a family meal last Thursday and we knew it was going to be good but honestly - totally exceeded our expectations. The sharing plates were such a generous portion, ribs absolutely fell off the bone, great selection of Leigh on Sea Brewery beers available too. Excellent service from Ria, she was personable and attentive. Loved her! Best meal out we've had in a long time, couldn't have asked for more, and can't wait to come back.

Very tasty, Sunday roast I had the chicken and the beef and the sausage and it was all very very tasty. The girls working the table were very friendly. The only downfall really was the ice cream sandwich. I had hoped to have a little more homemade taste but it seemed kind of hard.

Tonight we just popped in for drinks! No issue whatsoever, tables repositioned to fit us in.. lovely cocktails and no rush for us to leave. Thankyou x

Beautiful steak, lovely atmosphere, the girls couldn't do enough, kept constantly checking we were ok, we've going back in a few weeks with friends, absolutely lovely.

Went for Brunch this morning to try their new menu and it was amazing. Lots of choice, food was hot and beautifully presented and portions were very good size especially for the price of the food. Bottomless filter coffee had a lovely flavour. Will definitely be going again

Booked a table as had been meaning to try this place out for ages, but will not be returning, service was terrible, ordered 3 small plates for starters, ribs were as tough as old boots! Wouldn’t want to have them for main at £22.5! They had been reheated probably, Halloumi cant go wrong that was fine, chicken bites were ok but just frozen ones from Iceland probably and were lacking the sticky part! Thought we would try burgers, katsu chicken not even a chicken burger 3 overcooked goujons in a bun, beef burger not homemade tasteless and over cooked thought they made their own burgers?? Had some garlic mushrooms and onion rings which were nice and seemed freshly prepared, also ordered bacon mash, which was frozen as some of it was still in pellet form, how a restaurant cant make mash il never know! Especially an independent one, i know a-lot of the big chains use frozen, didn’t bother with desserts, we waited about 40mins between courses too, and the young staff were more interested in talking to each other than serving the tables.

Great place to eat. Really different with the sharing plates. Loved it.

This place has gone downhill big time.£32 for a steak,just steak,no chips ,you have to pay extra for them now,wwwwoooootttt.Garlic bread was awful,burnt and crispy.Half the mains wasnt available and so was the desserts.Also now they have added on a service charge,12.5 %.Really.Obviously i wont be back because Rayleigh has a lot better other restaurants.

A lovely quaint restaurant just tucked away enough not to be noticed by all. The food was very well cooked, definitely above the average and exceeded my expectations. Lovely blends of flavours from around the world to spice up and elevate the menu and the service from Leah was delightful, she was extremely helpful and never overbearing. We will be returning soon to taste more culinary wonders!

Best steak we have had for 3 years! Hand made chips were superb as was cheescake. Would of like cheese and biscuit option though. Good selection of cocktails good service. Defo go again with friends.

Unfortunately had a bad experience this evening. Not only did our meal take an hour and 40 minutes to arrive the calamari was inedible due to being stone cold, the onion rings and chips were also freezing, the katsu chicken burger was raw in the middle and I’m off to do myself a slice of toast. We hadn’t ordered for about 2 years due to a previous bad experience and now we’ve had another.

Such a shame about this lovely place. Not happy with roast dinner, had to send back. Burger was delicious tho. Prohaps just stick to Burgers & ribs.

Very disappointing. Ordered 3 small plates to start - Ukrainian potatoes were OK but the beans/spinach overcooked and underseasoned and peppers almost inedible. Hate making a fuss but had to send back our mains - roast beef (was not fillet as described) was cold, the Yorkshire pudding burnt, potatoes rock hard and gravy incredibly salty. The waitress was helpful and apologetic but menu, atmosphere and staffing levels need a serious rethink. Wouldn't recommend, shame as has alot of potential.

First impression was walking in on to the stickiest floor in town, this place just beat The Brush. We walked to the table and the floor changed to slippery, I assume layers of dropped food and grease over the years and no cleaning. I’m not even exaggerating, it was difficult to walk on, this was over the entire floor. The tables were made of old scaffolding, also covered in food and grease. I’ve eaten in better building sites. The food was good but absolutely ruined by watching the waitress pump out the cheapest luminous ketchup from an industrial sized bottle. It was the sort of sauce you get in a really rough cafe and totally ruined the food. Wouldn’t go back.

Enjoyed a meal here with friends, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Our waitress Leah was very attentive and super happy to help even when the restaurant was very busy, she kept our drinks topped up and service was super quick too. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!!

Spot on! we just popped in for a Sunday roast, we hadn’t booked but we weren’t at all a bother. I had a lamb roast and the meat was cooked to perfection. The service was brilliant and our waitress kept us topped up on drinks. would definitely recommend to anyone that’s looking for a delicious Sunday roast!

Such a shame, this place has gone down hill. Its used to be one of our favourites but won't be returning. Roast dinner was a let down. Heated up Roast potatoes, beef was terrible, waited far to long for vegetables and sides to turn up. Got told they have no cauliflower cheese as the chef is up Markros buying some.

Such a shame,came here a few months ago, couldn't fault it, popped in for Sunday roast today, the roast potatoes were zapped in the microwave, despite what the waitress said, beef was tough as old boots, the wife wanted cauliflower cheese but the chef was up makros getting some! It seemed we were too early on a Sunday! goes without saying we backed the lot, settled for burger and chips! £60 not very well spent ! Definitely needs some improvements. We not be returning unfortunately which is a shame as we try to support small local businesses.

Food: 3 dishes for £15 Saltado peppers - confusing dish. The peppers were cold while the tomato sauce was warm at best. There were some random pieces of spring onion in the dish, and the seasoning was just off. Fresh Greens - this was a small bowl of boiled spinach and green beans with no seasoning, oil, butter. Some seasame seeds and balsamic vinegar on top, but it didn't make any sense, and lacked flavour. Ukranian potatoes - these were okay, but the dish was filled with butter/oil. Main: 2 x Filet Beef Roasts The meat was cold, the roast potatoes were hard with luke warm heat, the yorkshire pudding was solid. As soon as the food arrived on our table, it looked wrong. No steam suggesting that anything was heated. We guessed that the roasts had been out for a long time and that the food had dried out. We spoke to the waitress who was really kind and accommodating, agreeing that the food was really unacceptable. She struck two of the starters and the mains off of our bill. It was a real shame as we had heard good things about the place, but my partner and I agreed it was one of the worst meals we'd had in a long time.

What a disaster. Total amateurs they just don't know what they're doing. The food came out at different times. The sides came 15 mins after the main. The deserts had melted and sent back. Spoilt our evening.

We were welcomed and accommodated upon our arrival even though we hadn’t booked. We should have done our homework and checked the menu beforehand, but have eaten here before, quite a long time ago. I have an intolerance to bell peppers and chilli. Most of the dishes contain one or both. My husband had chicken burger which could have had more chips, and coleslaw should have been included, not an extra. Presentation lacking. I had to opt for small dishes - green beans & spinach, garlic mushrooms and halloumi (plain). All tasty, but not filling. Servers were exceptional. Knowledgeable about all ingredients and helped me choose my safe options. Friendly and efficient, couldn’t have done any more to make us feel welcome. However, we weren’t offered desserts and left the restaurant somewhat perplexed that the menu is so restrictive. I accept that I should have done my research.

Just amazing!!! The meals we had today were fresh and so tasty. Value for money was brilliant!! We have previously been to Gino d’campo in london and this was an exact match… only not as costly! We would definately recommend and we will certainly be back… the staff are so attentive and kind. The steaks were cooked to perfection in our opinion and the meal sizes were good. We cannot recommend this little secret place enough and we are pleased we found it. We will definitely be spreading the word!!

We can for the bottomless brunch on Saturday, was amazing. Great food, great drinks, they made sure we were topped up at all times. Really good with allergies. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. We were late due to taxis and they let us start later and gave us extra time. Amazing staff. Was the best place I’ve been in a long time. Thank you all.

From start to finish this was a Lovely Evening. Food was fantastic, fresh and piping hot. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was so friendly with a lovely welcome. Will definitely recommend and will be returning. Thanks guys.

First time back after many years, definitely won't leave it so long. Really enjoyed the evening, first class food, friendly and speedy service. responded quickly when particular intolerance was mentioned. Definitely one of our better restaurant experiences and will recommend it to others.
