Barocco Pub in Cardiff

Great little find whilst wandering around Cardiff. It's only been open for 2 months, but it's definitely 💯 worth a visit. Upstairs seating.

Visit the Barbocco and think it’s wonderful The decor is wonderful baroque style not original but certainly stylish and crests great atmosphere It’s a spacious bar right in the centre just off The Hayes The bar serves a wide range of good quality lagers ales spirits and cocktails. Service is good friendly and unpretentious I can’t work out why but it can be quieter than some city centre bars However this in some ways is a plus point as you can get a seat Although not very Baroque it’s also a great place to watch rugby There is a giant pull down screen and several smaller screens The bar is run my man who used to run the Cardiff Rugby bar down the road Anyway really recommend the Barocco in Cardiff

This was my first visit to this bar since it was sold by S A Brain & Co, my initial reaction on entering was that little had changed to the interior. I ordered a drink for both myself and wife and as we were going to try the food, I asked if I could start a bar tab. It soon transpired that the EPOS (Electronic point of sale) system was not set up to handle my request. In this day and age I find this very unusual and detrimental to any hospitality outlet that wants to drive the food side of their business. We did not stay to sample the food although the drinks we had were fine and the service via a young man was very good.

Went for dinner prior to visit to St David’s Hall. Staff very helpful and informative about the menu. A really nice menu and didn’t know what to choose. We opted for the ribs, a hotdog and the macaroni cheese with garlic bread between 2 of us! It was all so lovely and too much for us! Lol. We were asked if everything was ok with our food, which it was, and as we were leaving the staff acknowledged us and said thank you. A lovely place!

1st time in this new bar staff very friendly and attentive only popped in for "one" and stayed for lunch small mac and cheese best every tasted - better than Pastures Bristol! The chef came out to make sure all was OK and was quite open to tell us his secret on how he cooked it. Would highly recommend a visit

What a Gem of a place. Atmosphere was brilliant, service top notch. Katie particularly went above and beyond to make sure our night was enjoyable. During covid times our time here certainly lifted our spirits and allowed us to enjoy and not worry. Tots recommend!!!

Recently returned from 3 nights in Cardiff and visited this bar all 3 nights amazing cocktails and reasonably priced at 2 for 1 very friendly staff and in particular a lady called Laura she was so friendly and made us feel so welcome would deffo recommend and will be returning for sure from Vicky and Chris from Liverpool

Again visited the Barocco, where Katie was on hand to serve my pints of Smooth. A really great venue to watch the 6 Nations rugby. Big screen and bar not far away. Set them up Katie will be there to watch the England game this Saturday.

Booked the balcony area for a private 18th celebration for family and friends David the bar tender was brilliant. Worked very hard the whole evening and managed to keep us all well watered. booked the hot buffet which was plentiful and very tasty I received lots of lovely comments about the food. We had a little hic up over the initial booking which was resolved which resulted in a fabulous evening. A big thanks to all involved in making my daughters 18th a success

This is one of the nicer bars in the town centre. It's never usually busy in the afternoons. The decor is a bit elaborate but it does work and creates a nice ambiance. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. I pop in here quite often when shooping in town.

A small group of us called in here for a few drinks, the atmosphere was good, service was pretty good. Felt better value than it had on previous visits where it seemed exceedingly expensive.

Had a great time in the Barocco yesterday at the rugby Gaia and her bar staff were excellent we will be definitely heading there again 👍

With fantastic, sensitive and discreet support from the staff I managed to organise a 60th surprise party for my wife. Every email I sent was replied to with great speed and attention to detail. The night was a great success. The staff at Barocco were outstanding - happy to oblige, nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel at home and most welcome throughout. The buffet was festive, lots of variety and vegetarian options and was excellent value for money. The bar was excellent, again run by someone who was happy in her work. A big thank you to all the staff and to Gaia and Kate in particular.

Lovely place, first time. Great cocktails and pricing, good atmosphere too and lovely staff. Service with a smile, laugh and enjoyment of their jobs. Looking forward to returning.

Came here after our Christmas meal. Nice little location with main negative that the toilets are upstairs. Good variety of lager. Quite expensive though. Would recommend.

Been coming here for years. Never disappoints and one of the best bars for service. Especially big thumbs up for Tom and his cocktail knowledge.

Came in last night, running late for reservation. Bar maid was great, joking, friendly and provided great interaction with us. Where we were early in around 6, was a little quiet but as it filled people were great, they talked, they mixed, not kept to their own table and self like some bars.

We came here for an engagement party which was held in the room upstairs. Excellent service from Jas, she kept the whole area ticking along nicely with a very pleasant and positive attitude.

Had a wonderful time here on the weekend celebrating a friends birthday- the private bar upstairs was perfect for everyone! Jas was great at serving us promptly and making sure we all were having a great time. Definitely will be visiting again.

Recientemente llegué a este lugar por casualidad y estoy muy contento de haberlo hecho, había estado bastante estresado por una asignación uni y el personal allí era fantástico, Tom el barman hizo algunos tom crucero en los cócteles (que para 2 por 1 y sabía increíble !) Realmente no puedo esperar para volver otra vez. ¡Me encantó la sensación gótica del lugar también! lugar perfecto para una boda temática de la bella y la bestia!

Anteriormente he revisado este lugar pero vale la pena otro ya que tuvimos una cálida bienvenida de la India. ella nos hizo deliciosos cócteles e incluso nos los trajo mientras nos sentamos en las tumbonas afuera. ella fue muy amable e hizo que nuestra experiencia fuera mucho más agradable. Volveré de nuevo muy pronto.

Highly recommended Katie behind the bar was very helpful to my wife when we thought her phone was missing, all bar staff helpful but Katie took control of the situation and kept us assured she would sort the situation, thankfully we found tje phone at a previous location but after the frantic panic katie still made sure we were happy in barocco, top bar staff

Visited Barocco on Monday for Westlife concert. So impressed with staff friendliness and service , especially India, that we returned again on Tuesday.

Friendly staff, and lovely decor. Quick service, ordered off the summer drink deal menu. Great value! Will come again!

Went here for a drink, in between bars! Ended up staying for hours as it was awesome atmosphere with no queues at the bar. Staff were awesome and friendly! Deffo worth a visit when you’re on the piss in Cardiff!

Loved my hen do here two years ago, great music and drinks, so booked the “back room” for a group of 20 for my husbands 30th. The staff were incredibly helpful, understanding that the party was a surprise and responding to any questions promptly via email (not phoning me!). We all had an amazing time, really enjoyed the drinks package and it was lovely to have a relaxed space to ourselves. I don’t ever get round to writing reviews but just had to say thanks for an amazing night!

Went with friends, lunchtime, 29th May, bar was not too busy. The bilingual guy behind the bar tolerated our "pigeon" Welsh and his customer service and cocktails were second to none! We all enjoyed our experience because of the friendly atmosphere that he created. Da iawn iddo fe !

Went for drinks after a show and was disappointed with the experience. Minimal staff. Poor mojito cocktails. No atmosphere. Not many people present. I wonder Why?

i stayed over night in cardiff with my other half and no trip to the city is complete without a visit to our favourite bar. we went once on the friday and again on the saturday. i will never tire of this place. it has a lovely chill out vibe and fab gothic looking decor. the cocktails are very tasty as always and there are loads to choose from. this time we also tried the bubblegum vodka which was really nice. :)

Honestly, I’ve recently moved to Cardiff and can honestly say this bar is the best espresso martini in Wales! Special shoutout to Jazz, amazing hospitality and service. Happy hour until 10 ! Give this place a go.

Went out with some friend, ended up in Barocco, met the Barman Tom dancing behind the bar whilst making our cocktails. Made the night feel genuinely fun. Great night. Great staff.

Went for cocktails with friends and the two-for-one Cosmos I ordered were undrinkable. Clearly made with lime cordial rather than real lime juice, and way too much of it, each sip made me wince. I gave up after a few sips and considered complaining but as my friends' drinks were also poor it was clear the bar staff - who were far from pleasant - simply didn't know how to make a decent cocktail. Plenty of better cocktail bars in Cardiff, won't be returning to Barocco.

The service I got from Pola was exceptional! Her mango and coconut Collins is out of this world. Very much would recommend.

Awesome atmosphere and great location, staff were friendly and inviting, Pola at the bar looked after our group the whole night and we couldn't have been happier! Will be going again!

Me quedé en Cardiff por una semana por trabajo y terminé yendo a Barocco un par de veces para tomar una copa. El lugar es encantador, ambiente de poca luz, salón de estilo de época con sillas grandes y cómodas, una buena selección de vinos y licores. En ambas ocasiones el personal era muy servicial y agradable. Volveré la próxima vez que esté por aquí.

Gran ambiente y cócteles increíbles con bebidas a precios razonables. Recomiendo el Mango Collins y el Bramble!

Me encontré con Barocco en una noche con amigos. El bar está ubicado en una excelente área central de Cardiff, justo al lado de la calle Wharton. El bar estaba muy ocupado debido al rugby (¡por supuesto!) Pero el tiempo de espera fue bastante aceptable. El ambiente era bueno y el personal del bar era muy amable y competente. Jack me atendió, era muy carismático y servicial. Aunque el bar estaba muy ocupado, mantuvo la calma y todavía estaba muy conversador. El bar en sí es impresionante, ya que el roble oscuro refleja el estilo rococó del bar. También noté que la araña sobre la barra evoca el mismo estilo barroco, que atrae instantáneamente a aquellos que aprecian los estilos ornamentales. ¡Así que Barocco es una visita obligada si estás en el centro de Cardiff!

What an Amazing night. Great venue the Atmosphere and food were top notch. Macca our host was Extremely Attentive and made sure everything was catered for. From drinks on arrival to the dj song requests. I would highly recommended booking your venue here. Will definitely use Barocco again

A popular city centre pub, impressively laid out with lots of seating and space upstairs and down. A lively venue, always busy but rarely too cramped. A good choice

Reservamos la habitación en la planta superior para unos 50 huéspedes que comentaron sobre qué lugar tan encantador era. Los chicos de Barocco somos fantásticos de principio a fin. Una mención especial se debe a Jake, quien estuvo a cargo de nuestro bar privado y trabajó muy duro durante la noche, incluso ayudándonos con los regalos que nos dio la familia. Reservamos una clase magistral de cóctel para el cumpleaños de un amigo, tenía un cantinero llamado Sean que era realmente encantador! Nos hizo sentir muy cómodos y cuidó de nosotros. Tenía un montón de diversión haciendo cócteles diferentes, sin duda lo recomendaría! Duró alrededor de una hora y media, lo que fue genial, todos pasamos un tiempo fabuloso y lo hubiéramos hecho de nuevo. El ambiente durante y después también fue genial!

This is a lovely bar in a great central location. It is clean and the tables are well spaced out. You can have areas cordoned off for private functions.

2-4-1 cocktails Saturday night and they were YUM!! Mango mojito and Pina colada especially! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Would definitely pop in again!! (Can’t comment on food)

Barocco helped us host a charity quiz night in their function room upstairs. They were super helpful and co-operative and helped us raise money for a good cause! They also donated a Quiz prize and Jake our barman was really friendly and efficient.

Fantastic venue to host a party. Gaia and the staff were all incredibly accomodating and the booking was great value for money. Fab atmosphere and a convenient location when getting a big group together.

Went here for a drink before the Coldplay concert at the Principality Stadium.Notice this was strangely one of the o my places near the stadium that was rammed full so we decided to have a quiet drink there before heading to the rowdier pubs before the gig.The pub is decent enough...decent decor and modern but a few things let it down.1) Prices We ordered a Disaronno & Coke and a large glass off wine and it came to £19. Totally unnecessary to charge this much. That round would be between £10 and £12 anywhere else in Cardiff.2) Slow bar staff.Got served straight away but the barmaid took about 10 minutes making 2 simple drinks. It wasn't even that busy.3) smoking area is right outside the open front doors so the smoke belows in and is very uncomfortable having a drink surrounded by smoke.4) Tables were not cleared and were very sticky and dirty.This could be a fantastic pub...and maybe we just caught it on a bad night, but I don't think would return here again, Mainly due to the prices

Lovely location in Cardiff and great atmosphere for after dinner drinks. Fab cocktails made by a guy called Aled (I think) who managed the bar single-handed and kept customers happy. Will be going back for more!

Visited on a late Monday afternoon before going to the motorpoint arena. Beautiful decorated building, was a pleasure to spend an hour there. Cocktails were on a 241 deal (which seems to be the norm in this city)....in saying that they were some of the best mojios that I'd ever had! Service was great, Lovely bartender who knew about all the menu and advised well...hidden gem in a busy city!!

17/02/17 I was served my two staff members, one a young man who talked down to me as my cocktail knowledge was clearly not up to his standard. Another staff member, a blonde lady with a foreign accent prepared my order, and when I asked for a tray, she said as I wanted the tray, I had to put my drinks on the tray myself. Odd I thought, but then when I asked for another drink as I'd spilt one, I was told it's my fault and can't have another. I had my card in hand ready to pay but I can only assume I was asking for a free replacement. When I clarified the situation, she shook her head at me, poured me a drink and didn't even look at me as I handed her my card. The arrogance of these two marred an otherwise lovely night, in a beautiful venue with genuinely very helpful and attentive staff.

Gothic style atmosphere. Large mirrors and gilt frames. Stone statues. Leather chairs and sofas. Very dramatic. Specials on cocktails. Can open a bar tab.

Love this place, amazing cocktails and usually 241 between 12-10pm. Good food here as well. Nice and chilled venue, always a good atmosphere here. Love this place and never fail to stop in for lunch here or a drink.

Driopped in here for a drink when out with friends. The atmosphere and decor are great with high ceilings and places to sit and relax. The music selection is excellent and there is a great range of beers and wines etc. on offer.

wanted a coffee, went in and ordered - surprised to find it was only £2 a cup. but it was not worth 2p. there was grease on the surface of the drink, my coffee was darker than my friends. did not smell like coffee, did not taste like coffee. it tasted like it had been watered down. we could not drink it so just left

I really like Barocco, love the decor, it's different to other bars in Cardiff. Definitely the best espresso martinis in town - highly recommend, especially during happy hours! One thing I would possibly change would be to add more tables and chairs inside - whenever I'm there, it's always busy and it is slightly awkward to be standing there with two cocktails in both hands and nowhere to sit down or put them for ages. But all in all it's a really good place for a couple of cocktails or before a night out.

I popped in here with my boyfriend last week for a quick drink after a meal. The staff were very friendly and we had a bit of a joke over how many times he'd had to sit through the film cocktail... (it was playing on the screen opposite the bar). We had measures of rum and a whisky with a bottle of staropraman to share, it was a quiet tuesday night & very relaxing. I really liked the stone gargoyle fire place & all the dark wood made the place feel quite cosey.

Me and my brother popped out for a drink and came across Barocco which looked nice from the outside. We noticed from the sign we'd just missed 2 4 1 on cocktails but decided to order cocktails anyway- to which the barman was utterly shocked. They had a trainee member of staff behind the bar however neither one of the fully trained bar staff knew what they were doing. We ordered a porn star martini and a mojito. The porn star martini as you know is passion fruit, is a sort of orange colour or off yellow if prepared right and has a slice of passion fruit on the top and comes with a shot of prosecco. They one we were given was a sort of bright yellow very thin with no passion fruit slice we asked the bar man if he had an passion fruit and he looked at us like we were weird (why would you even ask that)? He then chucked the shot of prosecco into the martini and pushed it too us across the bar. Very disappointing as I like to flip the passion fruit and poor the prosecco over it. The mojito was horrendous I couldn't even finish it (You know when you taste a drink and it just puts you right off the whole night) she just chucked the ice in did the alcohol bit and the served it to me. There was no crushing of the ice, no mixing, nothing - no muddling of the ingredients, just an ice glass with some alcohol in and a pile of mint on top Basically all in all it was the worst experience super expensive for the service and goods provided. Vile.

Barocco does great 2-4-1 deals on various cocktails every day from 17:30 to 22:00.The bar plays great music whilst you enjoy your chosen drink(s).

Popped in here tonight with Wife for a few drinks. I must say how impressed I was with the Brains beer! It seems that in our City unless your drinking in a Brains Pub it's almost impossible to get a pint of the stuff! We never eat here however the menu did seem very limited. Now someone is going to inform me that this is a Brains pub?

We always go when we're in town shoping. It's spacy, nicely decorated and unpretentious. Just enter, order, enjoy the space, food (well made pubfood), peace of mind and relax over a drink. What's better than that?

We popped in here for a drink at the end of a Saturday. They have an alright range of beers in bottle but their range of ales on tap is really poor, When we sat down there was a very distracting TV showing an advert for the bar on loop, pointless and annoying,

Stopped in mid week for few drinks and the 4 of us had the 2 combos which were really good, good place to just chill and watch the world go by in comfortable surroundings.
