What a fantastic and cosy restaurant . The sea food was really fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was calm and romantic. Beautiful place to go

Came here for a business lunch, lovely food and very good service and appears to be popular with locals. We both had the chicken Milanese which was very enjoyable.

We happened to be in Finchley and wanted an Italian restaurant and stumbled across House Restaurant. This is a gem of a restaurant. A little rough around the edges decor wise but added to the charm as it felt like home. One of our menus was missing the complete selection but outside of this the service and food was excellent. The flavours were amazing and it felt like a real authentic Italian. If only we lived closer this would definately be our restaurant of choice. Great value for money. We had 3 mains, desserts and drinks and all was good. If ever we are back in this area we will be visiting again.

We had such a wonderful time here! Friendly service, delicious risotto! But I loved the ambience and decor - it reminded me of my favourite places to eat out in edgy east London that I miss so much. I feel more at home now in north London. Will definitely come back!

The only disappointment of this superb local Italian is that it’s not my local. But I can still get to visit it when attending nearby Barnet Family Court. Fortunately last Thursday I had a lunch break from 1.30 before a judgment at 3.30. It’s a small welcoming room with a bar and a list of a couple of specials chalked upon a boss at the front. But I was entirely satisfied by the range of Italian staples on the menu and chose a seafood spaghetti with mussels squid, prawns and a side bowl for shells. A glass of house wine accompanied. A home made tiramisu and a double espresso concluded matters.

My colleague had done a Google search for a nearby restaurant, and come up with this place. When we got there, it looked like nothing - the sort of place I’d usually walk past. I’m glad we went in! The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was nice (though it wish there’d have been more people in there - this restaurant deserves more patrons!), and most important of all, the food was absolutely lovely. Top notch - well done!!

This restaurant offers a good range of Mediterranean cuisine, concentrating on Italian food. The staff offer a great welcome and succeed in their efforts to please. We had an excellent courgette soup and very good thin crust pizzas. The wine list is reasonably priced and there is enough choice in the food and wine menus for most tastes. This is a good local restaurant that you need to book on busier days.

My meal was quite delicious and more importantly, well delivered. I have had a few bad experiences with other restaurants when it comes to the delivery of non casual / fast food menu items. In this instance, the meal arrived in the same state that it would have done if I had dined in. Sufficed to say, this experience and the restaurant's high ratings have ensured that I will be dining at this establishment with family and or friends soon enough. I ordered grilled lamb chops (rosemary, garlic and olive oil marinated) which were accompanied by sauteed new potatoes, zucchini, asparagus, broad beans and green peas. In addition, I ordered mashed potatoes as I had a craving. I really ought to have taken pictures but you tend to forget these things when your meal looks so good and you're starving :)

We were looking for a hearty breakfast around 1100 Sunday morning & happened upon this restaurant. The lady welcomed us & the chap serving up breakfast was chatty & most welcoming. I had full English breakfast which was well presented, ingredients were fresh & tasty. Sandra had omelette which again well presented, fresh ingredients & tasty. The premises were spotless, thoroughly enjoyable experience. We will most definitely call in again

I went here a month ago with 5 others and it was such a nice atmosphere and the service was very friendly. STRONGLY recommend the king prawns for the starters as they were so good - I could have had another plate of them! I had the lamb chops for mains, which was decent and the chocolate lava cake with ice-cream for dessert, which was delicious. I normally do not get dessert at a restaurant, but this looked too good! The restaurant gave us all shots of homemade liquor at the end of the night, which was a lovely gesture. Fairly priced food and drinks for a wholesome experience and you will definitely leave feeling full. I would definitely come back again!

I visited The House with family for a Sunday lunch. We had never spotted the restaurant previously, because it is quite small and hidden behind a bus shelter on Ballards Lane. However, once inside, you get a friendly welcome, a pleasant rustic style decor, and a 'family-run' atmosphere. Prices aren't cheap, but the portions in the main courses are generous. Amongst us, we had a variety of dishes, including Sirloin Steak, Teriyaki Salmon, Baked Sea Bass, Chicken Milanese, Spaghetti Bolognese and Roast Beef, and all were thoroughly enjoyed. Now that we've found this hidden gem, we will definitely be returning!

Been in Finchley 20 years and only just discovered this place. Fantastic service by Odele?, all 8 of us (including 3 kids and vegetarians) really enjoyed the food and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The starters and deserts were large enough to share so good value for money too. Will definitely return.

This really is a treasure of a place in the middle of Finchley Central! Who knew? The food was superb - you have to try the kofte homemade meatballs - insane. The service great and the music and decor really relaxing. Highly recommended.

En una reciente visita familiar a Londres, mi hijo nos llevó a almorzar para celebrar mi cumpleaños y fue un muy buen almuerzo. El servicio fue excelente y el camarero muy servicial y dispuesto a adaptar ciertos platos. A mi nieto le gusta allí y disfrutó de su comida de 3 platos, aunque le pedimos más pan de ajo con su entrante, ya que era 1 pedazo pequeño. Mi compañero, que no tenía mucha hambre, tenía un plato de sopa deliciosa seguido de una porción de papas fritas. Mi hijo y yo tuvimos los mejillones en salsa de tomate y ajo. Preguntamos si podíamos tenerlo como "moules frites", lo cual no fue un problema y también vino con pan. Salimos del restaurante, muy llenos, para que mi nuera preparara un té de cumpleaños, ¡que era encantador pero realmente no podía hacerle justicia!

We stayed overnight in a local hotel so the pressure was on to find a decent restaurant when we didn't know the area. Based on reviews we tried The House and we weren't disappointed. If you want amazing food at a reasonable price, with welcoming friendly staff then I cant recommend this place highly enough. An absolute gem and we are gutted we arent staying longer as we would happily go back time and again.

Our second time here and it's been excellent both times. A varied menu and good portions mean you certainly won't leave hungry. I had the chicken and Spinach calzone and it was lovely.And the staff are friendly - it's a local business that it feels good to support. Deserves to do well and I sincerely hope it does.

I recently came here for breakfast. An amazing meal and they were so friendly. The team appreciated that I was vegetarian and were able to offer really good alternatives to some of their meat options, and I was able to pick and choose what I wanted, which was really good.It was a lovely atmosphere - Christmas music standard! - and the for was prompt. What I liked was that the waiter was very upfront about portion sizes, particularly when it came to the coffee - something which is very important in the morning!I would highly recommend this local for breakfast. I have also been here for dinner a while back, and that was also a great experience. It's fast becoming my go-to local!

Entré a un almuerzo ligero tarde en mi camino a la estación de metro. El caballero que me saludó fue cálido y acogedor, y cuando le dije que no comía carne, me señaló algunas opciones vegetarianas muy buenas en el menú. Quería algo ligero y simple, así que elegí la bruschetta con una copa de vino tinto. La bruschetta estaba deliciosa, servida con una pequeña ensalada y mi copa de vino era deliciosa y muy bien de precio. Para terminar, tuve uno de los mejores macchiatos que he probado en mi vida. ¡Volveré para probar más del menú!

Nonostante sia indicato come italiano nessuno del personale lo è, e la cucina appare più internazionale che italiana Locale e bagno puliti, servizio veloce e molto gentile, cibo di ottima qualità. Io ho preso una abbandonante insalata greca che rispetto alla tradizionale conteneva anche la salsa di melanzane. Mio figlio un ottimo hamburger con patatine. Nell’attesa i calamari fritti ci hanno rincuorato! Con birra e coca abbiamo speso 34 sterline direi ottimo anche il rapporto qualità prezzo!

Stayed in Finchley (from Wales) and googled the nearest Italian, to treat my friend after a long car ride. Popped in at 16.30 to 'book a table'. Had a 'quick glass of wine' and ended up sitting outside all afternoon, eating (delicious seafood linguine and scrummy home made pizza) and drinking excellent house white before returning to our hotel. Returned for breakfast both mornings, (huge glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice is recommended) and popped back for another pizza on our last night, before the long drive home. Thank you so much Armin (hope that's right) for being the most hospitable, friendly and welcoming host. Wish we lived closer.

The food is delicious, we went as a large group and had a mix of starters, mains and desserts and every single person commented on how good the food was. Came for a 60th birthday for my uncle and was mightily impressed! Prompt and courteous service, splendid food done do a professional standard and well presented. All round a lovely lunch and would definitely recommend!

I so enjoyed dinner at The House on Friday night. Incredibly reasonably priced with very attentive, but not overwhelming service and great, no nonsense food. The calamari and bread starters were particularly good. The house wine was also good and reasonably priced. They have a specials menu and I had the fish cakes for main course which were moist and excellent.

We ate there tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th of Feb, me the wife and my 16 year old son, Tuesday I had the mixed grill and a portion of olives, while my wife had chicken stuffed with mozzarella followed by proffitta rolls, and my lad had home made tomato soup with a margarita pizza with home made pancakes with banana and chocolate sauce,(well he's sixteen and very hungry) everything was good to say the least, and the house wine was the best house we have had on our many travels, the services was as though you came in every night(this is what makes great restaurants), so we obviously went back the next night which was even better, we were seated and the waiter remember our drinks order, a guy played Spanish guitar, my wife and I had the special lamb kofta and my lad had spag Bol absolutely top notch food and atmosphere,being from the north the bill was quite big,but not over the top,but when your away for a break it doesn't really matter, every penny was worth it, so if every in Finchley get down to the house. Mmmmmmmm

The staff are always very warm and hospitable. I usually go for the lamb shank as the meat is so nice and tender. Nice atmosphere and I would definitely recommend going there. They also do a nice breakfast e.g. full English.

We discovered this place by accident right next to the Finchley Central tube station across from Tesco. It's a bit hidden but as soon as we stepped in we were warmly greeted by Benny, who is definitely a wonderful and funny host who treats everyone like family. When my family visited all the way from Hawaii, we chose here for our anniversary, daughter's birthday, and family reunion. The food selection is wide, the portions large, and the taste and presentation are excellent. The desserts are also lovely, and the staff makes everyone feel welcome. Our go-to place when friends visit.

We have lived in Finchley now for a little over a year and found this place only a couple of weeks ago! The owner is very friendly, service there has always been on point. They have a great wine selection and the food is amazing.

Love this place, been there twice on separate occasions when I've been in London, lovely food. The staff are the best part so welcoming so kind. Didn't get the anyone's names unfortunately but if you're reading this if was lovely to visit again and thank you for making our experience with you a great one. You were all so lovely! Staff are pleasant and genuine. Food was made to order and was absolutely delicious. I recommend the homemade burger and the Seafood linguine. The house red wine is also just as good as and expensive one and we received complementary drinks. Prices are amazing you get more than what you paid for and the environment is warming and welcoming. This had become a new favourite spot and will be returning as much as I can. Thank you for having us the house!!!

I've eaten here perhaps half a dozen times for either brunch or lunch. The food is top notch and has a pleasant atmosphere. Being very close to transport links (bus stop outside and a tube station a less than 100 yards away) it makes it perfect for quick meet up location with family and friends.

The food is fresh and the service is excellent. We have been here around three times and on all occasions the main waiter has been so friendly and helpful. The pasta is lovely as well as the lamb. Red wine is perfect and prices are good too. Definitely recommend this if you live in the area as it is usually difficult to find a good local restaurant where the owners remember you and welcome you.

The food was superb: I recommend anything there to you but what I had was the Basil Pesto Pasta. Not too much pesto on it but a good amount, topped with Parmesan cheese so 5 stars for that. I was trying to decide what to have for pudding when all of a sudden, the lovely owner of the restaurant - Benny - comes over to me and offers me pancakes with chocolate sauce/maple syrup (which were not on the menu) which was undeniably 11 out of 10!The service was good, however, considering how absolutely packed the restaurant was, that gets a top of the class from me.The atmosphere was not too loud and not to quiet which is exactly what I like in a good restaurant. The bill came to a total of just under £60 for 3, so quite a nice price. Overall, it would definitely come within my top three favourite restaurants.

Fabulous find in Finchley...My husband and I, with another couple stumbled across The House when looking for somewhere to eat the night before the London Marathon. Lovely atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was lovely, hot and served quickly.The homemade burgers were particularly tasty as were the chorizo bruschetta! Very reasonably priced as well.Shame we live all the way in Sheffield - otherwise we'd become regulars!

Staying at the local Travelodge so visited here for dinner with wife and children. most say great food and first class service. Great value well worth a visit.

4 of us arrived on a Friday early evening for dinner.The ambience is a mixed message - it trades as a restaurant but feels like a cafe.The decor is not well thought -out - hard surfaces and cluttered walls and wrong colours. The bar area , however, is really good.On the other hand, it probably does do more business as a kind of snack bar during the day.The real mis-match is that the staff are very good professionally, and the food is much better than average.We were made to feel very welcome and were well served without fuss. Very nice people. The menu had good choices and the dishes were attractive to look at and eat - both starters and mains. We had 2 courses and a bottle of Pinot Grigio.The bill came to £25 per person - which we thought was excellent value.The interior needs re-thinking - but this might be difficult to afford for a small business. However, we'll certainly eat there again in the future.

This is the second time I have met with family at Barista and I look forward to each future visit. The food is absolutely delicious, freshly made, generous portions and great value. The staff are very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. The kids love the food too and are also made to feel very welcome. I was truly torn about taking home all of their amazing, best i have ever tasted, Tiramisu or leaving it for other people to enjoy! This lovely little place nestled, almost hidden, in a busy street is a little gem, definitely worth a visit for a quick lunch, a family gathering or a special occasion.

On the recommendation of my sister who lives in the town and tired after a long journey we visited Barista for an evening meal. On arrival at Barista we were both greated by Beni's beautiful wife and host and a genuine warm and friendly welcome was given to us both. I then quickly relaxed and ordered dinner. We did not have to wait long our food was beautifully presented fresh very tasty and good value for money. Throughout the evening we were both looked after attentively and could have happily stayed much longer. I returned the next morning for breakfast and a genuine warm welcome was given by Beni. Again the food was beautifully presented fresh and very tasty. Be rest assured you will receive a warm welcome from Beni and his beautiful wife and receive excellent service and excellent freshly prepared and tasty cuisine representing good value for money. On a recent visit to Finchley I decided to treat myself to a meal at Barista, which I had visited a couple of times before and been highly impressed. This was no exception. The moment I walked through the door I received a warm reception from the owner, Benny who made me feel very welcome. I ordered the kofte which consists of mini burgers, salad and french fries. It was a generous sized meal and absolutely delicious. To complement it, I had a glass of the house red which was very nice and to finish off what had already been a perfect meal, I chose the Tiramisu for dessert which was a total tastebud sensation! I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough - there is a wonderful ambience about it and the owner is courteous, friendly and professional. I am only sorry that I no longer live locally as I would definitely rate it as the best restaurant in Finchley. I had a wonderful evening due to a combination of the food, wine and warmth of the Barista staff. Please visit when you can, you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to be able to go there again!

We had a weekday lunch here this week. We had a warm welcome and although the setting is quite simple it was comfortable. We ate a fish dish and a chicken breast and pasta. Both were very tasty and generously served. I would definitely meet my friend there again and would be happy to try any other of the many dishes on the menu. Good value, though the house white wine was not great.

This is a great find. It's so close to the tube station and the food and service was excellent. They catered to all our needs and were very helpful as we were mainly a table of vegetarians. Can't wait for the pizzas to arrive on the menu! We will be back very soon!

I have just had coffee and Granola here and the food and the service was wonderful. Also, the cafe has a pleasant atmosphere.

We stopped by this place at the last minute to get out of the rain and we are so please that we did. Fantastic service and the food arrived quickly and was of a very high standard. We definitely recommend the place and will be coming back.

It feels more cafe than restaurant. Small slightly cramped wooden tables and tables are sited around a large bar. At just before two today lunches were being finished with cups of coffee An oriental lady sitting at the table directly to my left largely ignored her coffee for almost the entire hour I was next to her working on oriental scripts on her computer. The menus are extensive. I was offered breakfast/brunch noticing amongst other things omelette with a wide choice of fillings, a set 2-3 course lunch, as well as a la carte and a blackboard advertising as specials of the day, French onion soup and chicken noodles. I was pleased to see breaded veal escalope and spaghetti on the a la carte so plumped for that. I was not disappointed. It was a generous portion of veal, the spaghetti had a nice tomato sauce, and there was a dressed salad as well. I washed this down with a bottle of cider. Although the menu simply stated 'cider' I was offered wither a pear Magners or an Addlestone Cloudy, opting for the latter, although either in 568 or 500ml bottles represented good value at £3.95. The total bill including a double espresso at £2.00 but excluding service came to just under £20.00. Having paid by card, I was embarrassed not to have any coins for a tip to complement service which had been a model of politeness and efficiency throughout.

I love this place. The Croque Madame is the best I've tasted in London and would give the best I've ever had in Paris a run for their money. Friendly. Courteous. Kind. Everything you could ask for from a busy high street cafe. Excellent.

Barista is a favourite of ours at any time of day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are equally good or you can just pop in for a very good coffee. The food is excellent and very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Lovely place. I go here regularly for lunch and the food here is outstanding. Never had a bad dish. Eaten in a couple of times, again a lovely experience, and they serve alcohol as well so I would go here for dinner if I lived local. I recommend the Barista Special on ciabatta for lunch. glorious.
