Barceloneta in Leicester

Some lovely dishes to be had here, but some like the cod are nice but very expensive for what you get. Since our last visit the service has improved considerably. Recommend the mushrooms stuffed with spinach and blue cheese, and the Pedro Ximenez ice cream dessert. Really wish they’d bring back the padron peppers, miss those a lot.

Really nice food and staff. Good atmosphere especially, like the window seats upstairs with all the plants.

I'm from Valencia. I came with some friends and we ordered seafood paella to share. It was edible, but it had too much paprika, which can be seen at first by the intense reddish color of the rice; it was also overcooked. As for the amount of seafood, acceptable for the price. The bravas are more like some Canarian potatoes with mojo picón but they were good anyway. The churros were without a doubt the most delicious. If you are a foreigner, you will eat to your heart's content, if you are Spanish looking for food from your homeland, it will help you get rid of the itch a little.

Hands down this is still the best Tapas in leicestershire. Very good cocktails too! Excellent service, although usually a little on the chilly side for us. That said, the manager did turn down the air con for us when we asked.

Pleasantly surprised I went to visit my cousin who's studying in Leicester, I was extremely surprised at the quality of food in restaurant. My wife's Spanish so I know a little about Spanish cuisine, the food was super authentic. The crocequettes were incredible. The only difference I could find is gambas pil pil doesn't have tomatoe in spain, but we ordered gambas in garlic olive and chilli. So of the names don't match up but I think it's because the chefs south american, so things maybe different there. The front of house was attentive enough but not too attentive , which was just right. I belive his name was shaun, he looked from an indian background. If management see this give this man a raise or a healthy tip, amazing chap! Price wise compared to London was incredible value, its hard finding tapas that's responsibly priced in the UK, but this place successfully achieved this. My only gripe is some of the dishes should come with bread. We spent £14 on bread alone, which was a bit silly , some maybe if the management could include this with some of the dishes that would be great.

Busy tapas restaurant. Tables are quite crammed in but not uncomfortable. Food choices offer something for everyone. Portions are sufficient to allow a group to order different dishes to sample. Service is efficient and pleasant. Drinks are a bit pricey. Booking is important, particularly at weekends. Worth a try.

We dined at Barceloneta and the taps was absolutely excellent. We were served by a wonderful young lady named Jacey, who was incredibly attentive and looked after us brilliantly. Would highly recommend this restaurant for both the food and the service!

A brilliant place to visit for the lover's of Tapas food was delicious the paella was very good and plenty of it. The Sangria was of a high standard. We will definitely be going back for another visit.

Our overall experience at Barceloneta was amazing!! The ambience gives you vibes of Spain, especially with the music. The food was also delicious with a variety of options for seafood and vegetarian delicacies!! The staff are extremely courteous and prompt in their service. I would definitely recommend to anyone to desires a Spanish flavour!!

A pleasant selection of decent tapas. The standout was the paella - perfectly cooked and delicately flavoured. Was a tad on the expensive side, and the wine leaves a little to be desired, but it was an enjoyable meal.

Used to come here a lot, first time I've been in a while though. Food is still lovely but I couldn't believe how expensive everything is. I understand cost of living but this is something else! For 5 tapas, 4 drinks and 2 desserts it was just over £100 which is honestly insane. Charging £8 for 6 pieces of bread and some olives is a little much. It's a shame, but I don't think we will be able to afford coming here again... Everything else (service etc) was absolutely fine, but the massively upped prices I think will put many people off.

We were asked if the table that we were shown to was ok. It was next to the door and a small table for our party of 4. We requested the adjacent table (same size) and this was refused. The food choice and quality was very good but the service very poor. Expensive bread and olives (£8) and we were told the olives were not pitted, but they were. Coffee was served late and with no spoon. Port was half full of sediment. When queried it was taken, then returned - and we were told that sediment was normal. We rejected this and it was replaced. Disappointing experience.

Been coming to this restaurant for quite a few years now, yesterday we were served by Alex, he was really nice and super friendly, the food was amazing as per! By far my favourite restaurant!

I’ve visited Barceloneta and it’s sister-establishment, Bar Dos Hermanos, on numerous occasions and never once disappointed. Food is divine, the ambience and decor is amazing, and the prices and wait-times are decent too. I would recommend their Huevos Rancharos con Jamón; Posh Scrambled Eggs; Tapas (especially the Chorizo with Chickpeas), and their Churros. One of, if not the best, eateries in Leicester, imo :)

Update after owner's response. Really disappointed with the response but then going by your previous responses to negative remarks, I'm not surprised. Rather than seeing the review as an opportunity to identify any issues with the staff and quality of food and service, you chose to blame the customer and accuse them of lying. If you had actually spoken to your staff upstairs and had they have told you the truth, you would have known that we did in fact provide feedback on the quality of the food, compared to pre-covid. Also we did NOT finish all the food on our plates. We did NOT get a checkback throughout the meal. We were NOT offered any drinks during the meal and were NOT offered a dessert menu whatsoever! Rather than taking such reviews as a personal attack, perhaps use the opportunity to upskill the staff in question and investigate each unsatisfactory review before taking their word for the matter. As a business owner an initial apology would be a good start. Furthermore if you wish to discuss the matter further I'm happy to do so but will NOT be accused of lying. This is not aimed at the staff downstairs. ----------------------------------------------------------------- We were took upstairs and was shown to our seat by the waiter from downstairs who took our drinks order. We had to wait 15 mins and then had to get the waiters attention to take our food order, he ignored us and a girl came over and took our order in the end! At no point during the meal did any of the two members of staff come to the table to ask if we wanted more drinks, how was our meal, nothing!! The food was bland and nothing special at all, we could have cooked better at home. We weren't asked if we wanted desserts. All in all a terrible experience. This may not reflect all the restaurant as the service downstairs may be be better. We won't be coming again.

Visited Barceloneta for the first time this week. We started off with a couple of drinks from their sister bar next door and i must say that £10 for two cocktails this good in quality is nothing but a bargain. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable and were able to recommend drinks they knew we would love. We then headed to the restaurant and were greeted by a very friendly waiter who took us upstairs. The seafood paella, beef meatballs, goats cheese balls and chicken and chorizo kebab were divine and took our tastebuds right back to Spain. Overall, great experience, hands down to Roberto for a great service, we will be visiting again soon!

Came from Cambridge and came down for the meal at this amazing Spanish restaurant the food was amazing you should try the sea food paella and the staff are so friendly and welcoming had a amazing time if you come to Leicester you should try this place out if you looking for good time.

Service was non existent. Had to get staff attention just to order our food. From the time our food arrived till the table was cleared, not once were we asked how our food was or offered more drinks. My husband had to go and find a server to ask for water. When our table was cleared we were left just sitting there with no offer of a desert menu. The food was just as poor. Tasteless and sub standard. Wouldn't surprise me if it came from frozen! All in all, really disappointing and definitely not worth the money we paid. Won't be going again for sure.

Tasty food friendly staff great location but bit too expensive

All started with an unexpected email from Bar Dos Hermanos. Never been there and I don't think I had visited their website either but the wonderful thing was the suggestion to visit Barceloneta right next door. Once we arrived at queen's Road and parked up, it was easy to find the restaurant. We hadn't booked but the hostess was kind enough to find us a table. Great selection of drinks, their Mojito is freshly made and delicious. Huge selection of different tapas awaits you and it was so hard to decide as we wanted to try everything. We had the chefs special salad for the day, filet medallions with blue cheese sauce, spicy meatballs, cheese platter and chicken with chorizo. all I can say - definitely the best tapas I have had in a long time. We will be back soon.

I would definitely book early. We booked for 6.30pm & had the perfect table by the window with room. Staff and food cannot complement enough! We will be back.🥰

Not been here for years. Took my partner out for his birthday 🎂. Amazing food great atmosphere. Also got a 10% for bar next time we go. Great little place loved it.

We had a great evening with my family with the exception of having had a drink spilt on me and my sister. We spent quite some time in the ladies trying to dry off. When we came back to eat, still damp, chairs and the floor had been cleaned which was great. However, no one offered any compensation, like dry cleaning or money off the bill. We got a basket of free bread. Should have served the drinks from the front and compensated better for leaving 2 of us sitting in wet clothes for the evening. Food was good though.

I went here with a larger party for dinner and the service here did not miss a beat. The menu was so unique and food offered so delicious I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Party of 14 on family night out. Food very mediocre very disappointing bill came to £618 which definitely was very over priced. Dishes came in threes so basically two people were omitted. The reason one star was given was for the young waiter who worked hard hope he got the £60 service charge they added to bill, otherwise would have given zero.

Delicious and mouth watering dishes served very hygienically. The garnishing is awesome and mid blowing. Chef is one of the best among the ones i visited. Managers are very friendly. Last but not the least the staff and food runners make it a memorable experience. A must visit place.

I was in search of a late dinner on a freezing cold night when travelling alone in Leicester, found this place on Google and arrived just before 9pm hoping the kitchen was not closed. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the kitchen were happy to assist and within minutes I had a steaming hot meal in front of me. Very accommodating for plant based eaters, and every dish was absolutely delicious. Also reasonably priced. Special thanks to Diego for looking after a lone diner so well. Sad I live too far away to make this a regular visit.

This is Friends Curry house. Not Barceloneta. The food was lovely and the service exemplary. All the staff were really chatty and engaging and made us feel very welcome. There was a large family group who were enjoying a 50th Birthday whilst we were there and they were clearly having a great time so a very Ch LD friendly restaurant.

What rubbish. Spent 90 quid for food a five year old could have cooked and wine that could have stripped the table. The place had no personality and the staff are useless. The wine is brought open to the table and slurped into the glasses without even allowing the customer a chance to taste....

Fantastic meal. We had 5 tapas dishes between two people. All were tasty. Young lady who served us was friendly and efficient. Very good value. It was a good walk from the city centre, but worth it. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely meal to celebrate my birthday. Could not fault the service. The food arrived 10 minutes after ordering. Our cocktails arrived a bit late but that was to be expected as the bar next door was busy.
